Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@HavingFaith best of luck for tmr!

thefishthatcouldwish · 11/09/2020 07:02

@Fightingtobepositive welcome and good luck with scan hope all goes well.

Tarsette · 11/09/2020 07:14

@ivfjourney5 so sorry about your lining! I am in the exact same boat: just had my lining scan and it hasn’t grown at all in 3 days, still 5 mm. so my cycle was cancelled as there are lots of follicles and I would end up being overstimulated if they continue with stims or up the dose. So frustrating, it is my worst cycle ever. There are so many hurdles to get over to get pregnant and I feel like I can’t even get over the first one (growing my lining). The worst bit is that I had several cycles (ending in BFN) where the lining grew fine so I had more or less stopped worrying about that and now I am back at square one, trying to grow the damn thing. My dr thinks I should have a month off then start Gonal f at 250 ui instead of 200 ui next time. Just the thought of now having the wait another month and a half makes me want to scream!

UnicornPuff · 11/09/2020 07:21

@Koalabear23 do you mix the lentogest yourself? The larger one might be for drawing up the solution. Is the diameter the same for both or is the longer one thicker?

@Tarsette I am really sorry you have had such a horrible morning. There is nothing that anyone can say to make this any better. The continuous limbo is awful.

@Evey43 I feel like I am having cramping lower than normal but not twinges. However I am over analysing! Are you feeling ready for your pre test tomorrow?

I have turned my heart rate tracker off my watch as I have started obsessing about my heart rate! My normal resting is 64 and it has gone up to 68. But it went up to 68 when I started progesterone supps after EC so it is not related but yesterday it was 70 and back down to 68 today. I dont know if I can stay in my mind! I have a whole week left before I test! Does anyone know exactly when you heart rate starts to elevate with pregnancy? I am 4dp5dt so probably to early!

monsterad · 11/09/2020 07:32

Turn off the heart rate thing! No good can come of it! Xxx

79andnotout · 11/09/2020 07:41

@UnicornPuff I was thinking of tracking my temperature this cycle but when I looked into it the conclusion was it's a bad idea. Unreliable temp spikes that can send you into an irrational tizzy. My guess is RHR is the same.

Does anyone know if the additional progesterone is sufficient to override your own period if the cycle hasn't worked? Mine without fail comes ten days after ovulation on an unmedicated cycle so I would expect my period a few days before OTD. I'm hoping that doesn't coincide with my exams!

Symptom wise I am still in the same position, very heavy sore boobs (which I get every month anyway, I have to switch to sports bras in the second half of my usual cycle), and some womb heaviness which could also just be mild constipation from the progesterone (again something I always suffer from in my natural cycle). My body really doesn't like progesterone!

@Tarsette sorry to hear about your lining, that's really frustrating when it's never been an issue before. But yeah maybe it just needs a break to recover.

Evey43 · 11/09/2020 07:49

@UnicornPuff it’s so hard not to symptom spot, whether that be period or potential pregnancy. I don’t know anything about heart rates, I’ll be trying not to feel my pulse later!

I feel sick to the bone about tomorrow. I still haven’t bought the test yet for fear of jinxing it! I also got a call from my GP last night after an ECG for chest symptoms which I assumed were nothing, the ECG is abnormal and she’s sending it urgently for a cardiology review but I’m not likely to hear anything back before Monday. So there is that now too!

ivfjourney5 · 11/09/2020 08:53

@Tarsette I'm so sorry! It's so frustrating isn't it!! I hope you take care of yourself, it's really hard but we will get there eventually. I'm also pretty sure they are going to want me to take a month off, it's just so disappointing, I know exactly how you feel. I think my consultant is going to stay away from low stims because I have PCOS so even low stims can result in tons of eggs growing, I was only on a low dose for egg collection earlier in the year and I had 21 mature eggs collected! I spoke to someone last night and they said I might absorb oestrogen via a different form so I think they will try either patches/pessaries/injections next time and trial that. I did screenshot your previous message to me about your stim dose so I've got that saved down for future (hope that's alright!) xx

HavingFaith · 11/09/2020 08:57

@poupou thank you! Just had a blood test to check progesterone levels. ET isn’t until 2pm so have a couple of work calls to keep me occupied until then.

Good luck to everyone with scans, EC or ET today!

@Evey43 I’m so sorry you’re having such a tough time - I really hope your ecg doesn’t show anything too serious xx

@79andnotout I’ve heard that progesterone can delay a period, but this is my first time taking it so I don’t have any personal experience, sorry x

HavingFaith · 11/09/2020 08:59

@Tarsette sorry to hear your cycle has been cancelled. Glad your dr’s have a plan for your next round. Look after yourself, sending you lots of love x

Evey43 · 11/09/2020 09:19

@HavingFaith thank you. Good luck later, I will be thinking of you. X

LKSF · 11/09/2020 09:21

@Evey43 @UnicornPuff sending you all lots of baby dust, fingers crossed for your BFP!!!

@Tarsette @ivfjourney5 I’m really sorry to hear about your linings, it’s so frustrating I just never even thought how negative the process is before egg transfer before I started this journey...so naive thinking the only issue would be the BFN at the end 😩 sending you lots of luck for your next cycles and hopefully after a months break it will all be positive news!

@79andnotout My period arrived 4days before OTD on my last cycle, the nurses say you still have to continue with the pessaries and still take the test on OTD though!! Fingers crossed for that BFP!!!!

I’m a bit behind all you guys, I’m just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start Progynova and Fyremadel!!

ChicaXS · 11/09/2020 10:09

@Fightingtobepositive how are you today? Hope all was ok with the bleed. I’m on my way to the scan, really praying the eggies are growing!

At day 11 of stims I’m feeling very gassy and heavy lol!

Tarsette · 11/09/2020 10:13

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. On days like this, it makes all the difference!

@ivfjourney5 i also have polycystic ovaries (I produced 52 eggs at EC!), which makes resolving the lining issue particularly tricky. I did try taking the estrogen vaginally and it didn’t work for me but you should def give that a go before you try stims. The next step for me was taking 75 iu of Gonal F (very low dose) and that worked for a bit. But now no longer seems to do the trick which is why I am up to 200 iu and possibly 250 iu next cycle... if you are producing lots of follicles like me, it requires very close monitoring with scans every 2-3 days and blood work to check the levels of estrogen are not going up too high in your blood (otherwise transfer has to be cancelled due to risk of OHSS). Oh and forgot to mention, I also had 2 operations to remove scarring in the uterus, so maybe ask your clinic if they think that could be an issue for you. Wishing you lots of luck!

Tarsette · 11/09/2020 10:15

Off to have a big glass of wine (I live in Hong Kong so it’s already the end of the day here)!

Izniz · 11/09/2020 10:19

Hello ladies! Been wonderful reading all your updates. I feel your ups and downs like their my own.

Bit of an update from my side. Been really struggling with the two week wait, so just decided to test 4 days early today - which was 7dp5dpo fet. And its a BFP!! We are thrilled! ❤️❤️❤️

Will continue following your journeys x

Alexm06 · 11/09/2020 10:28

So just got the call from the embryologist out of the 9 they took 6 of them were mature and 5 of them ferrislised. She said some of them had a weak shell so they broke but out of the fertilised ones one of the shell is broken but is still alright but I’m assuming that it won’t make it so I’m just going with 4 for the moment. Is that good? Sorry it’s my first cycle so I have no idea what to expect

HavingFaith · 11/09/2020 10:29

@Evey43 thank you!x

@Tarsette 52 eggs!!!!!! Wow! I hope the change of dose does the trick next cycle 🤞
Enjoy your wine!

@Izniz congratulations! That’s wonderful news!! Hope your pregnancy progresses without complication xx

LKSF · 11/09/2020 10:34

@Izniz aww massive congratulations to you and your partner, that’s brilliant news!! Was this your first round of ivf? x

UnicornPuff · 11/09/2020 10:38

@Tarsette you deserve that wine no matter where you are! Do you have someone who can help you drink a bottle?

@Izniz thats amazing news! Congratulations 💐 I dont think I would be brave enough to test early!

monsterad · 11/09/2020 11:04

Just had my consultation with my dr. All set.

They do a 2 month protocol. Prep month is tablets from day 14-25 which thickens the lining and ensures a good bleed at a regular time.

Then treatment month will be baseline scan, two injections on days 3 to either 10/12. Another injection on top from day 7 to stop early ovulation.

Will be scanned and bloods every other day from day 7ish to check everything.

ChicaXS · 11/09/2020 11:27

So good news. The eggies are growing! The dose worked but I’m still days away from EC (predicted next Friday) so another week of stims and two more scans next week - back on Monday. I’m super happy as I honestly thought they were going to cancel my cycle. My largest follicle was 15mm (only one) and all the others are trailing behind (around 9-11mm).

Have 18 in total so fingers crossed. I’m already uncomfortable so I can’t imagine what next week will be like 😂.

JandL2020 · 11/09/2020 11:41

@ChicaXS that’s great news. I only had one leading follicle as well. Hope the cramps settle. Mine was on and off - I felt it really difficult to walk especially a long distance as you really feel down there! Xx

Evey43 · 11/09/2020 11:51

@ChicaXS what great news! Hope you’re not too uncomfortable next week but at least it means things are progressing.

@Izniz congratulations! I’m not brave enough to test early either. Wonderful news!

@LKSF thank you 🤞, I hope AF gets a move on for you so you can get going 😊

Xx

zebra80 · 11/09/2020 12:06

@J1984 so sorry, hoping that one wee embryo hangs in there x

@ChicaXS ah, great news!! On the right track now- at least the discomfort is a sort of good sign :-D

@ivfjourney5 so sorry to hear this cycle's cancelled :-( Hope the consultant on Monday has some good ideas for what to do next time which will give you a more positive result. Must be so hard with your husband not around too - I'm on my own entirely but I think that's easier than having a Schrodinger's partner who's not there much. My clinic did the online consents (complete with lovely animations of EC), is there no way they can do that? Although I suppose each clinic has its own setup and won't be keen on changing :-( Also I hope you enjoyed your cocktail - I bought myself some fancy tonic water but it's not quite the same...

@unknownscot remaining sane and calm is pretty miraculous, well done! Glad your process has started :-)

@pattaz2711 so pleased to hear you can get going now, very best of luck xx

@thefishthatcouldwish brilliant news, hope you're feeling comfortable today x

@HavingFaith haha, I haven't used cyclogest yet but have it in the cupboard for next week - I was so worried about the injections that I didn't think about the pessaries, I have that to look forward to!

@Fightingtobepositive hope you are feeling better today - the paranoia is definitely the hardest bit of this :-(

@Sian7919 glad you've managed to make that decision, all the very very best xx

@UnicornPuff hope you're still feeling comfortable - it's funny how both lack of symptoms and symptoms can be a worry in this process!! Progesterone itself raises heart rate (it's normal for women to have different HR/breathing patterns during a normal menstrual cycle) so with the suppositories I think it'd mask any pregnancy effect anyway. So hard to stay sane but you're nearly there!

@Tarsette that's so frustrating - fingers crossed your lining will start behaving itself again next time, if it was ok before? Such a rollercoaster, a good scream after your glass of wine might be therapeutic x

@Rumtopf hope your scan went well today

@Evey43 hope today goes in quickly and really hope the ECG is just a blip x

@Izniz fabulous news, congratulations!!

@Alexm06 I don't really know about numbers but sounds positive to me - hope they all do well, will be keeping everything crossed!

Scan went well this morning, I have about 8 follicles big enough (which I think is decent for a 40 year old? although who knows how many have eggs) so one more dose of menopur tonight then trigger tomorrow night and EC Monday... eek!
