Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

Sorry to hear your BFN. Bloods and start the pill this week - on short protocol so looks like transfer will be early September. What happens if it’s a freeze all? I’m at risk of hyper stimulation. Will I have to wait until October to do a FET? Xx

Helene2019 · 28/07/2020 22:37

Thought I'd join the thread. My 3rd cycle of IVF was cancelled due to lockdown but now due for egg collection at begining September. Just started injections for this cycle. Fingers crossed it won't get cancelled again!

Lemongrass1 · 29/07/2020 15:48

@JandL2020 I think a lot of clinics want to wait for at least one natural in between treatments (they don’t count the withdrawal bleed after stopping meds). I’m doing back to back cycles for FET but I don’t know if you can do this after a freeze all. Hopefully you won’t overstimulate 🤞🤞🤞

@Helene2019 sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled too. Good luck with your treatment, are you on long protocol? I really hope things don’t cancelled again by a second wave of Covid too 😫

Thanks you for your reply. So it could be October then if they need to freeze sigh take every day as it comes now and in the meantime on an IVF diet and exercise regime hoping to lose a bit of weight -not sure it would make a difference but making me feel a bit better anyway 🤣 xx

Helene2019 · 29/07/2020 19:26

@Lemongrass1 yes am on long protocol.

@JandL2020 I had planned to loose a bit of weight between cycle 2 and 3 as we got no embryos from 12 eggs collected. But lockdown has not been helpful in achieving this!

Yeah I’ve put on loads too scared to weigh myself. Not sure how realistic it will be too lose weight in a month especially with the injections adding to the bloating xx

JandL2020 · 29/07/2020 19:29

I’ve already planned to pick up some chocolate for my day one tomorrow. On the way back from clinic I had to pick up a prescription for the pill. This will be crap day I’ll need chocolate/ice cream to get me through it! X

I’m also trying to lose weight, day one back on diet today. I allowed myself some over indulgence for 1 week after BFN 😂 I find it hard not to put weight on with all these hormones! Gained 2kg on this FET just gone

Hi, can I join please. I had egg collection last week but it was freeze all due the number of eggs and OHSS risk, so I should be doing my FET in September! I'm currently pigging out on unhealthy foods after being so healthy for egg collection, and before I start being healthy again for FET

4 pounds isn’t too bad.
I’m glad I have diet buddies - I only started on Sunday and it already feels so long 🤣 HELP! Can anyone recommend healthy snacks (low carb)? X

peanutsandpinenuts · 30/07/2020 10:06

Joining... we are being consented next week for our first cycle. No idea if it will be a short/long protocol or what to expect really but the clinic told us that the ET will probably be September.

ivfjourney5 · 31/07/2020 18:51

Anybody else get excited by an upcoming drug delivery or just me? 😂
Clinic rang today, FET scheduled for mid Sep, and start my meds a week today!

I just cried after I collected the pill yesterday - one pharmacy didn’t have it in stock so had to run to another before it shut ready for day 2 today. Not sure I’ll be too excited about the other meds delivery once I get the invoice cost 😂 I don’t seem to be on many but it’s looking to be around £1000 😞 xx

I'm in too. We had our first cycle in March which became a freeze all due to C19, we only had 1 make it to blast which was then transferred late June and I had a bfn. So we need to start a fresh cycle. Just waiting for af in the next day or so and then we know when we will begin in Sept.

I'm under instruction to lose weight too which is fun and doesn't add to the stress at all! But we're just on holiday so have relaxed on the food front this week, goodness knows what the damage on the scales will be when I get home. Back to low carb and taking all the supplements.

JandL2020 · 01/08/2020 10:11

I need to lose weight as well. Are you private or NHS? I was weighed at my private clinic when I had my bloods done and although she didn’t tell me to lose weight I know I have to. I’m on a strict diet/no alcohol August and September. Fun times indeed xx

Rumtopf · 01/08/2020 18:40

I'm private as too old for NHS and my bmi is within tolerance but they'd like me to lose more if pos. I'm back to low carb now we're home, but only had a few treats and a couple of glasses of wine while we were away so I'll see what the scales say tomorrow.

Just waiting for my prescription for Melatonin to arrive so I can get it filled, they want me to take it for the next cycle.

Lemongrass1 · 01/08/2020 20:37

@JandL2020 I have a marmite rice cracker when I really need something to take edge off hunger. Not particularly low carb but is low cal.

@ivfjourney5 sorry to hear about freeze all, don’t know if you’ve done FETs before but they are much easier

@peanutsandpinenuts welcome, we are having our consents next week too. They are doing them remotely which might be interesting!

@Rumtopf that’s interesting about the melatonin. What do they say the benefit of it is if you don’t mind me asking?

Me and my wife are having our 1st Cycle of IVF in Brno Czech Republic in September. Exciting and nerve racking at the same time.

Medications ordered - find myself keeping on checking Coronavirus status in Czech Republic daily which probably isn't helpful. Though regardless of flights we will defo get out there even if it means driving.

Haven't drank alcohol since Liverpool lifted the PL in July - trying to give it our best shot. Good luck to everyone trying in September

Eggling · 02/08/2020 10:05

Hi everyone, I'm hopefully having FET in September. My fresh cycle in June was freeze all due to OHSS, and I was meant to do FET this month but my scan yesterday showed my womb lining hadn't shed properly so I have to do three weeks on the pill then try again. This will be my third thread but no embryo transfer yet, hoping it's third time lucky!

79andnotout · 02/08/2020 10:59

Hi everyone, think I will be cycling in September as I got a call from my nhs clinic out if the blue a couple of days ago to go in and sign consent forms. I've been in the nhs system for four years now but the tests all took forever and then just as I was starting my thyroid results were bad, then when they stabilised coronavirus hit. I'm nearly 41 so my boyfriend and I had given up on ever having kids but then we got the phone call so back on the rollercoaster!

I'm pretty happy that I used lockdown to really eat well and exercise lots as I had more time with working from home, so I'm in great shape for a change! However I hadn't been taking any supplements so I've just quickly ordered folic acid and ubiquinol.

I'm trying to be positive but also realistic so not getting my hopes up. My boyfriend, who dragged his heels on having kids for years, is now really excited and thinks it's definitely going to happen, which makes me want to punch him for wasting years when we should have been trying, but also makes me sad as I think he'll be disappointed.

I'm a bit worried we'll start this process and then the virus will surge and shut clinics again (esp as I'm in the NW), so I'm hoping for the short protocol to get my one cycle over and done with.

79andnotout · 02/08/2020 11:02

Oh and my diet tip, especially for those with a sweet tooth, is protein shakes. I have a strawberries and cream one I stick in the nutribullet with frozen berries and a dash of milk and some water. Esp good for ivf as it has the high protein element.

This is an article I found useful. Apparently the melatonin helps reduce oxidative stress due to aging and improves egg quality. There's also a less well researched theory that it can aid implantation too. My consultant figured that it can't hurt so I'll add it to the other supplements I take. I've also cut out caffeine completely which is a first for me.

peanutsandpinenuts · 02/08/2020 22:20

With a month (or so) to go what is everyone doing diet and health-wise ahead of IVF/FET?

I see a lot of people talking about low-carb diets and also about the Mediterranean diet so I'm wondering if there is something there I should be thinking about in addition to cutting out alcohol and caffeine...

I don't think my weight is a huge issue but shifting a few pounds could only be a good thing... and at the same time, I want to make sure I'm getting all the right micronutrients, good fats etc.

Also wondering about running, swimming, yoga etc. Probably all fine to continue with until transfer right?

I'm sure they'll tell me all this next week but just wondering if the hivemind has any words of wisdom! Wink

Papoy · 03/08/2020 00:22

First time IVF-er here, we will have the long protocol but they are aiming for the next cycle. So in 3 weeks time the meds for down regulation will start...

We had the covid and high thyroid related set backs earlier in the year, so I am excited to start but so very scared what is about to unfold. So far I was upbeat about ivf stuff but since they told me we are starting I am feeling a bit unsettled. Shit got real kind of feeling....

Does anyone has any practical advice to spend this time wisely. There are still alot of time to wait around, it feels like I should be doing something but ... not sure what?

Diet wise, will cut down the caffeine, up the water, don't drink alcohol alot anyway so thats easy to stop, and reduce the sugar (as you see I cant say stop because thats the hardest one) and continue taking the vitamins and acupuncture .... Anything else?

Do I need to buy something?

Good luck to everyone, I will keep my fingers cross for everyone...

Youngatheart00 · 03/08/2020 10:43

I’d like to join Smile

It will be our third attempt (private as we only got 1 cycle on the NHS). Looking at my cycle it looks like I’ll be starting stims 3rd week of Sept so actual transfer (if we get there, last time I responded poorly and had nothing to transfer Sad) would be October.

It’ll be 3 attempts within a year although last was Feb so plenty of time for my body to recover. It is the final roll of the dice for us as we won’t try again if this third attempt doesn’t work. So I am already feeling anxious.

In terms of prep I am another one who needs to lose weight! The two failed cycles plus lockdown have meant I’m a whole 2 stone heavier than this time last year 😫 BMI still sub 30 so no probs with the treatment but I’d really like to drop a stone before starting.

I’ve started on the pre natal vits and ubiquinol. Need to cut down on booze and sugar (all the fun stuff) but given it’s the last roll of dice I need to do all within my control and then I won’t beat myself up if it fails.

Like the tip re protein shakes!
