Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Mctm123 👋 I'm glad you've got a start date

Had 3 ivf pregnancies announced this week (2 this morning) it gives me a lot of hope 🌈 🙏

I think I'm going to be one of the last to start in this group. I'm waiting to hear from the clinic about our protocol meeting, which I hope will be early September. I sent my thyroid results over to the clinic yesterday, it's within the threshold now, but I've been on levothyroxine for 8 months now and it's not come down massively, as long as its in range I'm OK though.

Mctm123 · 08/08/2020 10:54

@VenusStarr fingers crossed you get sorted soon!! After changing my mind a million times we’ve actually now both decided to wait another month. So will be starting end of October instead now. It’s the sensible thing to do given the history of previous losses plus there’s potential redundancies in my job and by then I will know what’s happening. Less stress the better! Keep me posted with you 😊

LJM83 · 08/08/2020 11:41

Hi all - I'd like to join, my July fresh IVF cycle was unfortunately unsuccessful but we were lucky enough to have 2 suitable embryos for freezing and going to have a frozen trf late September x

HavingFaith · 09/08/2020 22:50

Hey, how are you all doing?

I started norethisterone yesterday for my FET and am having really and cramps tonight. I don’t remember feeling like this when i took it for IVF last dec/jan...has anyone else had the same? It’s day 15 of my cycle so wandering if it’s ovulation cramps? I think my body is so confused right now!

Hope you’re all well and had lovely weekends!

JandL2020 · 10/08/2020 08:40

11 days left of the pill...August just feels like the slowest month ever 🙄 Not sure why I suddenly feel inpatient. My weekend was pretty boring too hot to do anything xx

Raggity19 · 10/08/2020 10:58

Hi guys, can I join?

I was meant to start this month but freaked out and have postponed till my next cycle (due 31st August) so Ive moved over from the August thread! Starting with the pill for a few weeks, then down regging with buserelin and on to menopur. I’m a teacher so the clinic are extending my down reg so I can coincide egg collection with half term. This is our second cycle and I’m really keen not to tell anyone this time round so don’t really even want work to know if I can get away with it. Sure that’ll be easier said than done!

We have MFI due to DP having CF (asymptomatic). We had our first round in January which ended in zero fertilisation. Was a huge shock hence my anxiety over this round! They aren’t sure why but think the quality of the sperm could have been the reason although does make me worry it could be an egg issue too now. Good luck to everyone, hopefully this is a lucky thread ❤️

79andnotout · 10/08/2020 14:36

Hi @Raggity19, welcome. That sounds stressful! Are they planning anything different this time around?

I am in the depths of caffeine withdrawal. I tried a few days of just one per day (I usually have two), resulting in a mild headache, but today is my first day of none and I have a crippling headache. Ugh. I remember this from last time I gave up! It was way more painful than giving up booze, in the short term.

Raggity19 · 10/08/2020 14:42

@79andnotout thanks! Yes we aren’t using the frozen sperm from DPs first SSR, going to take it fresh at the same time as my egg collection. It was suggested it didn’t survive being thawed. Also taking it from a different part of the testicle so hoping this will make all the difference.

Where abouts are you in the process?

79andnotout · 10/08/2020 14:57

Ah great, @Raggity19, that should hopefully make a big difference. Did you get lots of eggs at least?

I'm hopefully starting my singular NHS round on my next period (due in about ten days) if my scan next week is ok (it had to be repeated as the last one is out of date due to delays in my treatment) and my smear is ok (did that last week) and I don't test positive for covid in the meantime (unlikely as I never go anywhere). Will see if all those fall into place. I've got unexplained infertility but I have thyroid issues so I think that's the problem, as my sister had the same. Unfortunately it's taken me ages to get to here so I'm now 40 and my chances of it working have been given as 20%, but it's worth a shot. And I'm very grateful to get free treatment, my sister paid a fortune for her private rounds.

Raggity19 · 10/08/2020 16:39

@79andnotout we got 14 so a decent number, we’ve gone with care this time round and at my baseline I had lots more follicles, no idea how so they’re starting me on a low dose of stims. The consultant said he only wants to get 8-10 eggs which I don’t really understand 🤷‍♀️
Is it your first round? Our first round was NHS too but we just got the one, postcode lottery can be so unfair! Ah how many rounds did your sister have? Did you get a happy result in the end?

VenusStarr · 10/08/2020 17:50

Hi @Raggity19 I'm doing mild ivf with Create and I don't they they aim for lots of eggs. I was told last week they expect me to get 6-8 eggs. My amh is 9.5. I think the focus is on quality.

I haven't had my protocol meeting yet, so don't full know all the details or reasoning behind it x

Raggity19 · 10/08/2020 18:30

@79andnotout sorry I meant she not you!!

@VenusStarr hi! Is this your first round? Yes I’ve read that mild IVF is usually to focus on quality, 6-8 is a great number! My AMH was 11.68 about 18 months ago so I imagine it’s dropped now. I’ve also read that once you start to go over 15 collected you can sometimes compromise on quality. Who knows, seems to be so many variables but if I can just get one good egg fertilised I’ll be very happy haha!

VenusStarr · 10/08/2020 18:38

Yes @Raggity19, I'm lucky that I get one nhs round and due to covid my ccg has changed their provider. I've had 3 losses since we've been ttc, so wondering if my egg quality might be an issue (none of our tests have shown anything), so looking forward to finding out a bit more of how my eggs and his sperm are joining together (when they do), we've been ttc nearly 3 years now and only concieved after 18 months. We're doing ivf, not icsi.

Raggity19 · 10/08/2020 18:42

@VenusStarr I’m sorry to hear about your losses, must be really hard. It’s crazy how quickly the time goes isn’t it, we’ve been on the journey for coming up to 2 years now and I can’t believe it’s been that long already. Do you know when you’ll be able to start?

79andnotout · 10/08/2020 19:14

Hi @Raggity19 yeah she's due later this month, which is great! She had quite a few rounds icsi but got there in the end. I'm very pleased for her and my brother in law.

In fact everyone I know in real life who had fertility issues got there in the end - except me! Hopefully this is my turn coming up.

ivfjourney5 · 10/08/2020 20:38

Hi all, the side effects are starting to come to fruition, I'm only on day 4 of buserelin though! I'm on it for about a month in total so hopefully this is just my body adjusting and I start to get used to it.

I'm just catching up from the weekend... Hopefully everyone is starting to get their dates, and the fun wait for AF to turn up

@Raggity19 I'm sure you've done the right thing in delaying so you're a bit more ready in yourself

@JandL2020 the last few days have really slowed down for me as well. Fingers crossed it starts to speed up again 🤞🏼

@HavingFaith we are a day apart, I started norethistertone on Friday! I'm feeling a bit nauseous but I think that's due to the buserelin I'm on as well. I've had norethistertone a few times and haven't felt like this before, but everyone's different aren't they, and if you haven't had it for a while you might react differently this time. Hopefully it subsides for you soon!

@LJM83 im sorry to hear about your fresh cycle, but great that you've got 2 in the freezer. Wishing you all the luck for this time

HavingFaith · 10/08/2020 21:28

@ivfjourney5 I hope the nausea eases for you soon! I’m not on buseralin yet, I start that this Saturday. How long are you on the buseralin and norethisterone for?

@Raggity19 welcome! Fingers crossed this cycle goes well - sounds like your clinic have a great plan and it’s great that they’re making it work around half term for you, hopefully that’ll mean less stress and you can rest as much as possible.

Lemongrass1 · 10/08/2020 21:38

Hi all, sorry I’ve not been on in a while, not started anything yet so I’m a bit boring! Did pick up meds at weekend so good to go.
@ivfjourney5 I found that symptoms from buserelin settle after the first week or so
@HavingFaith hey snap! Also start buserelin on Sat. I usually bleed around day 12 of injections so will have down reg scan a week or so after (although AF will probably mess with me to come at a different time as I’ve based all my dates around this 🙄). Are you on a FET or fresh cycle? We are doing a FET 😁

OP posts:
HavingFaith · 10/08/2020 21:46

@Lemongrass1 we’re perfectly in sync - I expect a bleed around 11 or 12 days after starting buseralin (hopefully!) We’re doing a FET too as we had a freeze all earlier this year, so this will be our first transfer

Ails826 · 11/08/2020 00:48

Heyyy!
Hope you are all doing ok.
Has anyone been through IVF before? I had my cycle in June . It was freeze all because I had OSH .. over stimulation

Anyway so after egg collection i got my period on cycle day 25 and i was SO HAPPY because i thought that meant everything would come quicker. My clinic said i needee to have 1 month off qhile everything calmed down so i was waiting for mt next period to arrive and hear i am on cycle day 32 and nothing..

Im a 29 day cycle kinda girl

I had dared to think i was one of those people you hear about that got preg the month of IVF but i sat on the loo staring at a vverry verrry negative test haha so iv had a sob and a fly off the handle eaten some chocolate pretzals and im here wondering what else to do

The clinic said if nothing by friday then i need a blood test but has this happrned to anyone else??

HavingFaith · 11/08/2020 08:13

@Ails826 Hya! Sorry AF is taking her time - it’s soo frustrating when this happens!

I was in a similar situation after my freeze all in the beginning of Feb due to OHSS. I got my period 10 days after egg collection but because I have PCOS, long cycles are the norm for me so my clinic planned to give me provera to induce a period if it hadn’t come on it’s own after CD42. It’s good your clinic are giving you a blood test, looks like they’re keen to not leave you too long! Fingers crossed your period shows up before Friday! But may be worth seeing what options your clinic has and if they offer something like provera?

Lockdown meant my clinic closed before i got to CD42 and during lockdown my cycles have consistently been 32 days!! This has never happened in my entire life! So typical!

Anaesthetist83 · 11/08/2020 08:23

I had severe OHSS (spending a week on critical care). My initial withdrawal bleed was on schedule but then my next period almost 60 days I think. I asked the clinic whether I could have Provera and they were adamant they thought it wasn’t as good as waiting for a natural period..... so reluctantly I waited....... and then had a successful transfer. Now 37 weeks.

I absolutely hated the waiting, but in retrospect, I have no doubt it was the right thing for us to do

Youngatheart00 · 11/08/2020 10:45

I’ve had two cycles of IVF to date, one resulted in a transfer, the other didn’t. In both cases my cycle was messed up for 2 or 3 months afterwards. I think by the end of 3 full cycles post all drug cessation I was back to a natural rhythm. Frustrating but I tried not to stress about it, and a transfer in line with your natural cycle if at all possible has got to be preferable, even if it means waiting a few more weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

LJM83 · 11/08/2020 12:58

Hi guys - as I'm new to this FET business can someone explain the process to me? I have my planning call next week but am intrigued! x

poupou · 11/08/2020 15:01

Hello Guys,
I was listening to a podcast regarding IVF and supplementation and when to stop and what to take. I was wondering are you guys taking folate or folic acid and what is the dose of vitamin d that you are taking?
I am taking folate at 400mg and vitamin d at 75 ug. I am worried that the dose of vitamin d might be low prior to FET. I am also taking l arginine 2000 mg and ubiquinol 200 mg. Would love to hear your thoughts and doses.
Ps: in this podcast the doctor said that probiotics might also help with male DNA fragmentation.
