Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

Oops, I meant "grade 5AA embryo", not egg. x

MochaTea · 13/11/2020 14:16

thanks everyone, just here waiting for the call Grin - what time did they call you @Poppies2020 ?
I am getting some nausea at night too but who knows I never heard of that before!

Wow @indigocloud really good quality one. when is your test? mine was under 2 weeks - actually 9 days today.

Poppies2020 · 13/11/2020 14:31

@MochaTea I have everything crossed for you! I got my call around 2.30pm, and I went early and had my test at 8am. I didn’t know night sickness either! I have a little sickness in the morning, ok in the day the from 6.30pm-8.30pm awful! 😂 x

indigocloud · 13/11/2020 14:56

@MochaTea Thanks! Time will tell if anything comes of it. I hear stories where people get pregnant on a Grade 4 but have no joy with a Grade 5, so I guess nature does what nature wants :p Hope you're staying busy so you're not feeling too restless. Hoping for a positive outcome for you! x

MochaTea · 13/11/2020 15:33

Hi all! Happy news for me!
Pregnancy confirmed 🥳🥳🥳 hcg levels are high and now the next step is the scan in 2.5 weeks times - still to be booked.

I’m attaching my tests as well for people in the terrible tww 😅
I started doing them on Tuesday ( 6 days after embryo transfer) and did the last one this morning.
To be honest I did a different brand too on Monday and it also have a faint positive xx

@MochaTea CONGRATS!! That’s amazing news!!! So happy for you! Now we can both go through the night sickness together 😂 x

HV88 · 13/11/2020 18:44

@MochaTea absolutely huge congratulations! I am so pleased for you!

I had my final scan today, all looking good. Egg collection booked for Sunday at St Paul's and I will be taking the trigger injection tonight. Just did my final cetrotide 😬 X

MochaTea · 13/11/2020 19:44

Thanks very much ladies ❤️ I’m just so glad to have had this thread to keep me calm. Now onto the 12 week wait 😂
My scan is booked for December 4.

@Poppies2020 - yes I’m very happy to have you on the same journey

@HV88 yay! So excited for you, let us know how it goes and take Sunday to just relax. X

Poppies2020 · 14/11/2020 09:08

@MochaTea How are you today, after the big day yesterday? I have a question which may sound stupid, but do you know when we count being pregnant from?? I assumed we count it from the day we have the egg collection, as that is when the egg is fertilised, but I also read online you count it from the first day of your last period? I’m just trying to work out how many weeks I will be when I have the scan, and what I can expect to see on it. X

MochaTea · 14/11/2020 09:28

@Poppies2020 Quite ok between getting my hopes up and keeping my expectations in check.

I'm struggling too. But I used for my last pregnancy an app called ovia pregnancy and it's pretty great, you can add the day of your last period or day of fertilization (not egg collection) and I just did that yesterday and both predictions are very similar, around very end of July, each date just gave me a 2-day window prediction. I am going with that for now until the scan.

We will have an early pregnancy scan so if I am correct on my assumptions I'll be around 5-6 weeks - with my last I thought I was 8 weeks and the person said I was actually at 6+ a few days but I did see a heartbeat. But a LOT of people say to not have one before 8 weeks as sometimes you cannot see a heartbeat and it sends you into another tww until you have another one and make sure everything is ok.

As the NHS only gives you the scan around 10-12 weeks for the NT, I ended up paying for a private one with window to the womb ( also so my husband could see something and realize it is happening), it costs £70 so not cheap, but cheap enough when you think it gives you the extra peace of mind.

MochaTea · 14/11/2020 09:30

Oh and on the scan they measure the embryo and according to that they will give you the weeks you're supposed to be.

Poppies2020 · 14/11/2020 09:54

@MochaTea that’s great, thank you! I did read that it’s common not to hear a heartbeat on an early scan, but they should measure the size and as long as the growth is there it should be ok. It’s difficult isn’t it, as some sites say to add on the two weeks before conception, which would be the firs day of your last period. I have a window to the womb a 10 min walk from my house, so I think I might book a scan there for the end of December, and hopefully see more then. I’m the same as you, feeling very hopeful, but trying to also be realistic. It’s so hard as I have such strong symptoms and am really nauseous morning and night now, but I also have this terrible fear that I will go to the bathroom one day and my period will start. It’s all such a tight ball of emotions, I just cannot wait to get to the 12 weeks and hopefully breathe and enjoy it a little more x

Look on this website- see photo attached. You can choose IVF date and selected between 3 day transfer, 5 day or egg retrieval date.

Congratulations @MochaTea soooo happy for you. Gives me hope for when I get started. XxX

@JadeS174 Thanks for this, it’s all so new and confusing, I should prob stop reading different things on google! x

HV88 · 16/11/2020 17:01

How are you feeling @indigocloud?
And everyone else?

I had a successful egg collection yesterday. Quite uncomfortable today though. 5 eggs have fertilised and they want to do a 5 day transfer this Friday. They didn't give me much information to be honest, it was a very quick phone call.

We went to St Paul's and all the staff there were amazing and my husband was allowed to be there the entire time. He was there when I woke up from my lovely sleep, which was nice. X

indigocloud · 16/11/2020 17:44

@HV88 That's lovely to hear! Really glad that collection went well and you've got 5 fertilised :D

Yeah, I agree that the call was rather quick (maybe from a very busy embryologist?) but the staff at St Paul's really were very sweet. Fingers crossed for good progress for you rest of this week and a smooth transfer on Friday. Enjoy these few days; I found it rather liberating that I wasn't either carrying lots of fat follicles or an embryo.

I'm feeling alright, thanks! Just hungry all the time but DP has been baking and cooking loads for me so I'm well taken care of. And other than a big appetite, I'm all good. Just trying to stay busy and to keep my mind off of things before the blood test in about a week or so.

By the way, remember to take Utrogestan 3x a day. I'd missed the memo on this the last time and went 2 days with the wrong dosage. Felt rather foolish but then again I was just coming off sedation when they gave the info haha. Hope no one else makes the same mistake. Take it easy for today and be good to yourself x

HV88 · 16/11/2020 18:05

@indigocloud yes they were all fantastic and so lovely too. Really made the whole experience positive for me.
I am feeling super bloated today so may try one of your smoothie suggestions.

Glad you are feeling well and are being very well looked after. My dad dropped me home made food off today, which was lovely.

Yes I have so far managed to remember to take them although I don't get on with them very well. They are painful, but that may because of just having egg collection yesterday. Xx

MochaTea · 16/11/2020 21:17

@HV88 glad to know it is all going well. I slept the whole day of my egg collection, felt very nauseous too.
I agree they are not very good at passing the info, it’s all very fast you can barely understand how the first one is doing and he’s already taking about the others. On the day they will tell you the grade of the embryo they will be putting in but it will be quick so remember there’s a report coming the day after which helps.

@indigocloud when is your blood test, will you try to test at
Home or will manage to wait until the day?

Good luck 🤞 and thinking of you both

indigocloud · 16/11/2020 22:05

@HV88 Aw that is so sweet of your dad!!

RMC224 · 18/11/2020 09:20

Hi all- I’m due to have my first injection today and I’m feeling quite anxious about it. Has anyone got any tips on keeping calm through this process? I’m trying to keep busy but I’m finding it really hard to concentrate. X

MochaTea · 18/11/2020 09:48

hi @RMC224 once you do the first one you'll see how quick and easy it is and it will definitely help. I was so scared for my first one, my husband did it for me and I just kept my eye shut. The plan was for him to do them all but in all fairness, I ended up doing everything myself.
When I started on cetrotide he liked doing it but I'd always bleed a little and when I did myself I didn't so I kinda prefered doing myself.
See how you feel more comfortable, it's not as painful as it seems.
I liked doing the first one on my leg and the second on my belly.

RMC224 · 18/11/2020 12:44

Thank you @MochaTea which did find more comfortable the leg or tummy? Did you have any side effects?
Like you say once I get the first one out of the way, I’m sure I’ll feel a lot better. Congratulations by the way 😊 how are you feeling? X

HV88 · 18/11/2020 13:04

Hi @RMC224 how exciting to be starting your injections today.

My advice would be to not over think it. The bemfola ones I found did not hurt but the cetrotide ones were a but stingy. However once I started icing the area for 15 mins before and after the cetrotide injection it actually didn't hurt as much anymore.

I did all my own injections and did them all in the naval area. My husband is a bit squimish and I am a nurse so it just made sense for me to do them all myself.

Try putting them in at a slight 45 degree angle and avoid doing it slowly as this is where the bruising is most likely to occur. Good luck 👍 X
