Hi, we are starting a FET this month after a bit of back and forth with the clinic. Start downreg on Fri with ET hopefully first week of July. Wondering if anyone else cycling around the same time? X

Hi am on a long protocol and starting meds end of June to be precise.

jcurve · 13/06/2020 06:18

I’m starting my second round today on a short cycle (assuming scan goes well) so will be collecting eggs towards the end of June x

Rovera12 · 13/06/2020 07:19

Hi @jcurve I think i remember you, from the previous thread if I am correct. Lucky you are on short protocol, I am on a long protocol this time and I bet it is so new to me. I am happy to be starting again at the same time worried. Wishing you the best of luck this time.

jcurve · 13/06/2020 08:45

@Rovera12 yes I remember you too Flowers Good luck - did you do long or short protocol last time?

Rovera12 · 13/06/2020 10:38

@jcurve I had a short protocol all was fine at d beginning had 15 eggs collected and 9 good at day 2 but day 5 only 6egg made. 1 was good for transfer and other 4 was discarded as it was not good enough to freeze .

Tarsette · 13/06/2020 17:22

Hello all, I remember some of the names from the March thread! I will be trying for my 4th and last FET starting in early July (period expected in July 1st). I’ve had one failed cycle and 3 BFN’s. I already have a daughter from a previous round of IVF. I have thin lining so will need to take stims to thicken it up. As it’s my 4th try, I’ve got the whole protocol pretty well sorted. I’m thinking of putting 2 blasts back in as I feel the chances of both of them working are really slim. I have a 3BB and a 5BC left. Look forward to sharing this unnerving journey with all of you!

Rovera12 · 13/06/2020 19:34

Hi @Tarsette welcome. I start buserelin on the 22nd and my first baseline scan is on the 14 of July . I am surprised why it’s such a long time for down regging.
If you don’t mind me asking did you have a long or short protocol. I really need to ask questions on long protocol as my first cycle was short.

user1475505106 · 13/06/2020 20:31

Hi!

First time IVFer. Starting short protocol with meds starting on 22nd June and hopefully egg collection in July.

Nice to meet you all :)

NRW39 · 13/06/2020 21:01

Hi ladies!

I'm jumping on here... I'm patiently waiting for my period to start- due next Wednesday, which will kick start my date to start my meds.

It will be my first FET.

Tarsette · 14/06/2020 07:11

@Rovera12 I’m not sure about short and long protocol as I am getting the stims purely to thicken the lining (not to grow good eggs) so I think the logic is a bit different...I start Gonal F on day 2 of my cycle and usually take it until day 10 or 11, then trigger in order to ovulate on day 12 or 13 and then have the transfer on day 17 or 18. I don’t take any meds before my cycle starts. From my understanding, the protocol they put you on really depends on what your issue is. For me it’s thin lining...

Rovera12 · 14/06/2020 08:44

@user1475505106 you are welcome. wishing you the best of luck. I had my first cycle in January .

@NRW39 I hope your period comes as planned. Wishing you the best of luck for your FET.

@Tarsette I get what you mean, you are on a short protocol which is just stimulating and long protocol is down regulating(it’s the process of shutting down ones menstrual cycle before stimulation) I might be wrong but having a long protocol does not mean all will get a thick lining.....

RosettaR · 14/06/2020 17:03

Hi everyone, I'm currently down regulating for my first cycle, aiming for EC the week of 6 July.

@Rovera12 I feel like i'm down regulating a really long time too, I started synarel on 30 May and my down reg scan is on 23 June. Not sure if that's normal, I knew someone else on mumsnet and she was down regging a much shorter time but had to take the pill for a couple of weeks first, so it seemed to amount to the same overall.

I'm feeling pretty apprehensive about the whole thing, like there are so many hurdles ahead. I'm trying to take it one day at a time and not over think! It will be nice to share with with you girls Smile

Kiza · 14/06/2020 18:01

Hi Ladies,
Thought I'd join a thread as have been referred and waiting for the clinic to be up and running for our appointment (clinic manager said hopefully we will get an appointment in July)
I've tried not to do too much reading about IVF as it's mind boggling and not sure what type we will be offered on the NHS.
One question though, can you be put to sleep for embryo transfer? I'm praying you can as my HSG was horrific and can't bear to go through a similar procedure of being awake whilst they jab at my cervix and can't get the catheter through! 🤦🏼‍♀️

RosettaR · 14/06/2020 21:09

@Kiza I don't have personal experience as this is my first cycle, but I'm pretty sure they sedate you pretty heavily, much more than for an HSG. Might not be fully asleep, I think it depends on the person and the clinic. But reading around I've not heard anyone say it was a bad experience.

Kiza · 14/06/2020 21:35

@RosettaR thanks for the reply, it's with the NHS so not sure what the standard procedure is. For the HSG there was no sedation and it was awful.
I have a refrigerated uterus which has meant awful experiences of smears too so just praying I can be sedated or put to sleep for the embryo transfer as I don't want to have a panic attack again or so distressed.
Is your process with the NHS or private?

Rovera12 · 14/06/2020 21:54

@RosettaR wow you are almost done with down reg. 🤝
I have a week more to start as I don't start until day 19 of my cycle.

Rovera12 · 14/06/2020 21:59

@Kiza welcome to d group. I had no sedation for transfer, only egg collection which I was awake about an hour after the procedure.
Don't worry be calm. All the best.

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 15/06/2020 09:33

Hello ladies...
Please can I join your lovely group?
I’ve had my egg collection then Covid happened so things paused.
I’m due to have a FET in July.
Wohoooo!
Hope you enjoying the sunshine today. I’m working on my laptop in the garden. ☀️☀️ Xx

RosettaR · 15/06/2020 09:40

@Rovera12 I know, although next Tuesday still feels like ages. I'm also really scared about the down reg scan, either that they'll find a polyp (I had one removed in December and the do grow back sometimes) or that I won't have down regulated properly. There are so many hurdles to get through it's unreal.

Tarsette · 15/06/2020 12:14

@Kiza Don't worry about embryo transfer! I had an HSG and it was the single most painful experience in my whole life (more than giving birth via C-section to my daughter!) but embryo transfer is not painful at all. You don't feel anything at all, other than a very slight tickle as they put the catheter in. I have had 4 embryo transfers now, so feel pretty confident saying this.

Kiza · 15/06/2020 12:57

@Tarsette thanks for replying. The only reason the HSG was horrific was due to them not being able to get the catheter through (the dye bit was fine) so it's made me apprehensive that if the catheter going through is the same process then it's going to be just as bad. Doesn't help that I have a retroverted uterus so it's tricky to find.
I'll ask in our first appointment if I can be sedated 😕

Parkandride · 15/06/2020 13:25

Hi all, I'll be having a FET in July. First time didn't work in February. Going for bloods and a scan this week so feels like stuffs happening after the covid shutdown.

Ouch @Kiza that sounds horrid, I've seen people have mock transfers before if they have scarring or similar, then you're checking if it all works before the big day so night be worth trying that if you can bear it

RosettaR · 15/06/2020 14:08

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip do I remember right that you started down regulating about the same time as me? How are you finding it and when is your scan?

It is a lovely day, I struggle to work in the garden because I don't feel like the screen is bright enough but I will be going for a couple of short walks today! I've been told it's good to move around lots.

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 15/06/2020 15:07

Ahhh yes I think we did. Things are going fine thanks but definitely affected my memory!!!! Have you been feeling ok?

Got my down reg scan this week so then I hope to start pessaries and the other tablets.

Exercise helps me a lot. Yesterday I went on a long walk and did yoga. I slept so well! xx

Lemongrass1 · 15/06/2020 19:51

Hi all! Nice to see it getting busy here 😁 AF has finally started tonight with down reg (phew!), so probably having scan on Thursday and then hopefully onwards with FET prep. X
