Starting clomid - PCOS diagnosis

Hello all, am 30, DH and I have been ttc for DC2 for over 2.5 years years now. (After the longest referral ever) I was diagnosed with PCOS so have been given metformin 1500 to regulate my cycle, been taking this for a month now. The progesterone blood test shows I am not ovulating so they are sending out a clomid perscription in the post and I'm due to start on my next cycle. (Guessing some time in the nExt two weeks).

Any advice / experiences to share? Anything that I should do along side to increase my chances? Or someone going through the journey - a little nervous but equally excited too!

Sorry to hear it’s been so long for you ❤️. We will be 2 years in July. No, it doesn’t get easier. It’s weird, I thought it would, like maybe I would get used to the disappointment and if I never got my hopes it wouldn’t be as bad, yet it always is. Thanks for your kind words. I think I’m just having a bad day as I feel like I’m in limbo and just want answers. Just had a slice of chocolate cake, which is against slimming world but it’s cheered me up 😂😊.

@Leodot aw. We all have them days! I get very tearful some months and other months I'm just like oh well, onto the next one.
Please let us know if anything changes or if your consultant has any helpful advice ❤️

@Leodot how frustrating, especially as we focus so much on getting past each milestone; AF beginning, taking clomid, then ending then noticing ovulation etc. Heartbreaking when it doesn't work despite all our patience and hopes. Don't want to get your hopes up, but my sister had all the pregnancy symptoms and had to have a blood test at 6 weeks as she was just not getting a positive on the home tests. Just work towards the blood test results so you can figure out what's going on...

@cosmo30 nice short cycle for you hopefully the change will be positive for you and you get a positive this month!

Not really gettin any symptoms, don't know for sure if I ovulated lots of EWCF this month tho. For my last pregnancy my first sign was painful boobs but not getting any of that so in my head that will be my first sign...will be taking a test on Thursday ...I'm opposite to you guys...I need to stop myself from excessively testing, you would think after almost 3 years it gets better, but nope.

AF came on Tuesday for me so I’m definitely not pregnant. Consultant has asked me to do another day 21 blood test to check if the clomifene is working. Just feeling a bit sad that if it’s not working then this cycle is probably going to be pointless like the last one. Ah well.

Did you ever get any follicle tracking on your first cycle of clomid to confirm your body was responding?
I'm okay thanks. Had some sharp pains in uterus the last couple of night but had this last cycle so not reading into it !

BFN for me - tested yesterday, gonna wait for AF to arrive and try again. By last two metformin cycles have been 26 days and 31 days at the moment I am on day 30 so no doubt it will show up soon.

@cosmo30 Yes I had it the first round and they said I had ovulated. That cycle was 32 days, then the cycle after that was 34 days and I’m pretty sure I ovulated then too. The cycle just gone was 44 days and I don’t think I ovulated 😞. Just keeping my hopes up for this cycle! Already on day 6, so getting ready and keeping my fingers crossed.

@LethargicButAwesome no news from my blood test which was over a week ago to indicate whether ive ovulated or not

Tested 2 days ago BFN for me. :(

currently on cd29. Been having weird cramping. Expecting AF anytime soon, i can feel it.

waiting for blood test results so i know if i should double up the dose. really not looking forward to the nausea that comes with it.

@LethargicButAwesome sorry about your BFN. its a crappy feeling. Hopefully cycle 2 brings us better luck. Are you sticking with 50mg for cycle 2? and what dose of merformin are you currently taking?

@sc1995 sticking to the 50mg as apparently inoculated last cycle haven't heard anything about this cycle although if ou haven't heard anything I would ring up, I had to chase at every stage and the first time I learnt my results had come in weeks ago. Have a headache which is the key PMS sign for me...so yeah AF any time now...obv tiny part of my is still hopeful but also getting lots of sticky disharge so fairly certain I'm out :(

@Leodot it's odd as the metformin for me has worked in a similar way with each cycle longer than the last - you have almost finished clomid so good luck for this round fx for you! Do you have you follow up appointment booked in?

I take the metformin 3 times a day so I think it’s 1500mg then 50mg of clomifene. Yeah I know, this is cycle 4 out of 6 😞. I’ve got a blood test in 15 days as that will be my day 21 blood test to see if I’ve ovulated. If I haven’t, then it will be 100mg of clomifene for cycle 5 and another day 21 blood test. I’ve also got an appointment at the end of August to review everything and discuss the next step if my 6 rounds of clomifene haven’t worked.

@Leodot nope nothing! Last I heard was a letter at the start of lockdown saying they hope to get things up and running from 31st July so I don't expect to hear anything for a while!
I'm not 8dpo cycle day 19, very short cycle for me which feels strange!

Well ladies, I've started spotting today on cycle day 26, had no pms symptoms what so ever so that's quite annoying! 🙄

That’s frustrating. Do you think it’s AF? Hopefully you will a bit more soon. I know it’s feels like forever when you’re waiting but the 31st July is not too far away ❤️.

I’m ok thanks. I’m CD 14 today and have got my blood test next week to check that this round has worked so will see what that reveals. I’m hoping I’ve ovulated this time!

Sorry to hear @cosmo30 so sucky we manage to get through the month only for AF to show up, onwards and upwards tho!

I've just finished the clomid tablets, round three for me...the side effects are getting worse! @sc1995 did AF arrive?

@LethargicButAwesome I found as the cycles went on the side effects got worse, it was the hot flushes, night time waking and mood swings for me, horrendous so I feel for you ❤️

Hello! Do you mind me joining this thread? I'm 30 and I've been TTC for almost a year now. Thankfully had a very proactive GP who got me referred when my periods didn't come back after I came off the pill, and a scan in January confirmed my right ovary is polycystic.

I'm on my first course of Clomid but not having any tracking scans due to Coronavirus, so I have no idea if I've ovulated or not yet this cycle (I think I'm on CD 15 or 16 - it's a bit tricky to tell as I took Provera to induce a bleed and that was a bit of a shambles and I actually started bleeding on day 2 of me taking Clomid...!).

It's reassuring to hear some of you ovulated quite late in your cycle - I'm hoping maybe it's still a little early for me and maybe I'll get some symptoms in the next few days. Wishing lots of luck to you all. It can feel quite soul destroying some days but it's really nice to hear from other people going through a similar thing!

Hi @sittingwaitingwishing😊 welcome to the thread! That’s so good that you’ve had a proactive GP! Mine was worse than useless. I’ve always ovulated later on clomifene - day 18 and day 21. Not sure if I did on the third cycle and then am currently on the fourth cycle and hopefully in my fertile window! It really can be soul destroying ❤️. The only thing I can say is try not to let it destroy you and keep hoping ❤️. How have you felt on the clomifene so far?

Hi all. Sorry I've been away for some time. AF hasnt yet arrived @LethargicButAwesome. and No BFPs either. Dont think ive ovulated this month. Tried organising a private scan for the next round however its not looking likely due to the current situation. Looking to double the dose next month. Just taken provera to induce a bleed so i can start the second round of clomid.

Feeling so bummed i have to go through it all again in terms of side effects ( the nausea for me was terrible)

Thanks @Leodot! That’s reassuring to know you ovulated a little later. Any ovulation for me would be a step forward - my last period was in November 😦 I think I was up to CD 220 which is ridiculous 😂 I had some EWCM the other day but that’s all gone now. I just wish I could see what was going on in there! If no bleed or BFP after 30 days, I’ve been told to crack straight on with cycle 2 😬 I haven’t felt too bad on the Clomid to be honest - I had the hot sweaty nights while I was taking it and was spectacularly moody shortly after! But after that, I’ve been OK. How have you found it? Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Have you upped your dose as you’ve gone or been on the same amount each cycle?

@sittingwaitingwishing welcome to the club. Sounds like you have had a crappie time when th no AF but already you have a proactive GP, makes the world of difference, hopefully this will be what you need to get you preggers.

@sc1995 that's so annoying, did Day 21 bloods not confirm whether you ovulated or not? Ducky to go through all that and not even ovulate! I would honestly however advise going to bed straight after taking the tablet. I feel so nauseous if I have a tablet and stay awake - but the nausea for me subsides when I wake up...other side effects such as hot sweats this month have stYed with me all month. @Leodot your advise when I started about taking it at night helped so much so thanks!

On cycle 3 CD 13....daily dtd is on.

@LethargicButAwesome Ive rang the surgery many times and no one can seem to locate the results. ive tried my consultants secretary but no luck. i guess with everything going on at the minute somethings been misplaced somewhere along the line. From my symptoms and a few opks it looks like i havent ovulated. Lol weird question but what is the EWCM supposed to look like ? (the uncooked or cooked egg white LOL!) im too scared to google it.
on another note im feeling more positive today. Waiting for AF to start the second round. I feel like this is going to be the month.

have any of yous tried these vitamins. I dont feel like the pregnacare ones do much for me

Don't know if this will help or not, but every time I rang the surgery they told me could not. See results as they had not requested the blood test. But last week my doctor rang me and looked at another part of the system and said oh I've located them on the hospital page and was able to tell me I had ovulated...no other doctor however has managed to find them in this 'other' part of the system - might be worth asking them if they can see blood tests requested by the hospital
