Starting clomid - PCOS diagnosis

Hello all, am 30, DH and I have been ttc for DC2 for over 2.5 years years now. (After the longest referral ever) I was diagnosed with PCOS so have been given metformin 1500 to regulate my cycle, been taking this for a month now. The progesterone blood test shows I am not ovulating so they are sending out a clomid perscription in the post and I'm due to start on my next cycle. (Guessing some time in the nExt two weeks).

Any advice / experiences to share? Anything that I should do along side to increase my chances? Or someone going through the journey - a little nervous but equally excited too!

@cosmo30 sounds rough, hope it’s not all in vain tho and something positive comes off the back of it. You must be so excited / nervous.

Well no news from me, my appointment got cancelled due to COVID, so I spoke with bupa and I believe I have 80% cover for a private scan via work. Only to identify a ‘new’ cyst tho, no help with fertility or managing pcos, so am trying to get a gp referral for a private scan and then at the very least I can begin my letrozole. I am decided however scan or no scan I will begin my letrozole during my next cycle which is another 5/6 weeks away. Hoping letrozole does it for me otherwise I have looked up a few private clinics, my little on e is 3.5 years, so that’s 3.5 years of trying really plus the 2 years before I got preggers with him....just feel it’s defined most of my ‘adult’ life :( so more decisive action is needed. Hoping leteozole and prayers will be all I need.

You've really been waiting so long haven't you @LethargicButAwesome I honestly don't blame you for thinking sod it and starting the letrozole. Ttc is hard enough without all this waiting.
This is why we decided to go private and have a consultation, the gap is now 6 years and to think we started trying 3.5 years ago!
Please keep me posted 🤞🏻
Yes excited and very nervous, mainly that it won't work but have to keep reminding myself that we've got 9 shots from just this round and if one of them 9 still don't work then there must be something wrong with me!

9 shots is a lot! So one must work right? We have to keep hoping. I do believe I. A higher power and think maybe I was never meant to have a baby in this pandemic? Maybe I would have done stir crazy?!

Have an appointment with GP tomorrow so let’s see if he issues my referral :)

Hey,

I've only just realised there's an Infertility section on Mumsnet when I've been posting in the Conception section!

I have my previous child no problem who is 9 and have been TTC with my partner (not DS dad) for 2 years now. Had a Hycosy and was fine. Had 3 rounds of high dose Letrozole but 21 day bloods on 3rd cycle showed low PG so now on 100mg Clomid. Not much side effects taking it but been in loads of pain and soooo bloated since around CD13 (now CD24). NHS consultant said couldn't bring me in for a scan so I paid for a private one on Wednesday and have enlarged ovaries, lots of free fluid in POD & pelvis, 4 ruptured haemorraghic cysts on my left ovary and 1 large rupturing haemorraghic cyst on my right ovary. Sent the consultant my results and not too concerned, just told to take pain killers and call on first day of my period to arrange a scan with him. The fertility nurse at the hospital and the lady who did the scan both seemed concerned that I potentially released 5 eggs. I took a FRER yesterday but not FMU and was BFN. My cycle varies though between 28-35 days, 28 days being Wednesday coming.

I'm seriously debating private IVF at the minute. I feel like I'll be monitored more closely that way in case this happens again as sounds like my NHS consultant wants to start me back on Clomid again Confused
