I've just been for my scan and I think God has really blessed me, the heart is still beating. Baby looks healthy and well they said. I am continuing to bleed but they said there are clots outside the baby sac which are leaving my system and they said it is likely that I will continue to bleed for a while but everything looks good and from what they can see, baby looks healthy.

I think I'm going to book a private scan again in a few weeks time just to keep myself reassured.

PickleKid · 20/04/2020 10:32

What a relief @Pinktruffle so happy baby is still there, just kicking those clots out of her space so she can make room for growing nice and big. 💕

Twins2girls · 20/04/2020 11:12

@Pinktruffle I’m am so pleased all is ok, must be such a relief. I had my first scan this morning, one baby with a strong heartbeat 💗 due 03Dec2020 👶🏻

confused107 · 20/04/2020 11:33

@pinktruffle that's amazing news. So pleased all is well. Such a relief

@Twins2girls that's great news too. We have the same due date Smile

Pinktruffle · 20/04/2020 11:35

Thanks ladies. I cant even describe the relief! We have booked a private scan for May 6th just to keep me reassured.

Congratulations @Twins2girls. So great to hear more happy news. May they continue to be healthy, happy pregnancies for us all xx

Rumtopf · 21/04/2020 22:29

What wonderful news for you @twins2girls I'm so pleased for you.

@Pinktruffle glad you had a scan to put your mind at ease and have another booked in. So pleased all was well and there was a clear reason for it.

Pinktruffle · 28/04/2020 22:13

Hi ladies
@Twins2girls
@Rumtopf
@confused107
@PickleKid
How are we all getting along?
Im starting to struggle a bit with my mental health. The bleeding stopped for a few days and now it's started up again, the hospital did say to me it would carry on so I'm trying not to worry but it is hard not to. Im constantly working it'll get suddenly heavier but trying to keep it in check. It's emotionally draining. I have a private scan a week tomorrow.

Still getting lots of nausea in the evenings and I'm really really tired some days. How are you all doing? Hope it's all going swimmingly

PickleKid · 28/04/2020 23:59

Hey ladies! I'm good. 10+4 today. Think the worst of the sick has stopped which is good because a week ago I was 4kg down from my normal preIVF weight. I've since gained back 2kg which is a relief. Now I just have heartburn and burp a lot. A lot.

My scan is on the 19 and it looks like I can finally get rid of the London flat at the end of May. So things are moving along and all signs point me to being properly in Southampton. I'm terribly sad to leave London but if I'm going to be a mom, spending 50% of my pay on rent isn't going to cut it.

PickleKid · 29/04/2020 00:09

@Pinktruffle all your symptoms sound right on track and the spotting was expected. Nap when you're tired, eat frequent small amounts to help your queasiness and try not to worry or second guess your body.

PickleKid · 29/04/2020 00:14

@pinktruffle When I say nap when you're tired that didn't mean to sound dismissive. I mean literally set a little timer and snooze on that lunch break of you need to! It's a bit of luck being home during our first 12 weeks and not stuck in a conference room with some smelly colleague talking crap. Enjoy it 😘

Twins2girls · 29/04/2020 07:23

@Pinktruffle sorry to hear you’re having a tough time, the tiredness is the worst, I’m in bed most nights by 9pm! Could you take the odd day off work to rest? I took Monday off as I just felt so exhausted and slept all day. Best of luck with your scan tomorrow 😊

@PickleKid the sickness sounds awful, luckily I have only felt sick occasionally but haven’t actually been sick. You’re right about being lucky we can work from home, we don’t have to put on a brave face and can step away whenever needed.

I’m 9 weeks tomorrow, feels like it’s going fast but slow at the same time 🤣 registered online for a midwife but haven’t had any appointments yet, hoping they will be in touch soon and I won’t get lost in the system.

confused107 · 29/04/2020 11:15

@Twins2girls @PickleKid @pinktruffle so lovely to hear from you all and how it is all progressing

@Pinktruffle I know it's easier said than done but please try not to worry especially if this is to be expected

@PickleKid it's exciting that life is moving on for you. I was thinking yesterday about changes we will need to make. I think if I'm honest I'd been so caught up in getting pregnant I almost forgot that a baby will hopefully be coming. Still feels far to presumptuous for me to think about it at the moment, maybe after the 12 week scan

@Twins2girls I'm the same as you, 9 weeks tomorrow. I had my booking in call with the midwife Monday and have been to the maternity unit today to get my bloods taken. It might be worth chasing your midwife appointment as I was told the blood tests need to be done between now and week 10. Symptoms wise, tired. All the time. Though this could be due to me not doing exercise and being stuck in the house all day every day! I have waves of nausea. It seems to get worse in the evening and thankfully have only been sick once. I'm mostly panicking about symptoms, lack of symptoms and still googling everything that could go wrong. I know I'm lucky but it's hard. I am looking forward to my scan at 12-14 weeks to find out what's going on. Trying to talk DH into going for a private scan, but he thinks it won't be wise as it's not at a 'medical' clinic and he feels that should I be getting bad news, it will be better to get in in a proper medical setting where I will be treated properly. I see his point, but also still kind of want the scan!

Pinktruffle · 29/04/2020 12:07

It's so lovely to hear from you all and to hear you are getting on well!

@Twins2girls sorry, its next Wednesday, sorry for the confusion so I have a week to wait. Trying to be calm and positive! I work in a pastoral role in a school so there isn't much for me to do at home to be honest other than the odd bits of paperwork so I'm lucky and getting to take it easy.

@PickleKid your sickness sounds awful! I'm glad its started to subside for you, you are heading fast towards trimester 2 though which I've heard is when you feel the best. I'm not a great napper but have been falling asleep on the sofa when I need to!

Is anyone else finding nausea is worse at night? Im usually fine in the mornings and it usually starts around 4ish and get steadily worse. I am eating small and frequent though. Luckily I've only actually been sick twice.

@Cobfused107 I sometimes wonder if my tiredness is due to inactivity. I'm sat a lot and usually do a ton of walking around at work. I'll take it as a symptom though as it's a comfort to knownim having symptoms!
I've had my booking in appointment and had a letter through for my 13 week scan but no one has mentioned any blood tests yet. I've been in hospital twice too and no ones mentioned it. Should I chase it do you think?

Did you have a scan from your clinic around 7 weeks? If you did and all was well, the chances are everything will be fine so do the private scanning you really want it!

Twins2girls · 29/04/2020 12:33

Thanks for the advice @confused107 I’ll call up the doctors and see what’s happening

confused107 · 29/04/2020 12:41

I don't know if the bloods thing is specific to my area. I'm in Staffordshire. The midwife couldn't get blood yesterday (I have bad veins) and said I would have to go to the hospital. I asked if I could do it at the same time as my scan and she said it was time sensitive so I had to go back today

Pinktruffle · 29/04/2020 14:46

Oh ok, that's interesting @confused107. I'm not far from you, I'm in Sandwell. I did ring the community midwife after reading your message and they said I would be given the script for a blood test at my next scan which will be a couple of days short of 14 weeks so will just have to wait till then.

PickleKid · 29/04/2020 15:17

Bloods are being ordered for the 12 week scan for me. Well more like 13.5 scan but who is counting. I had a midwife call already, last week. She booked in bloods and scan for me. I'm sure each area does it differently.

Rumtopf · 30/04/2020 23:09

Ah it's so lovely to read about all your symptoms and next stages, scans etc!

I had a call from my consultant today explaining FET and what I need to do, then a call from my nurse to check my cycle dates and telling me about the new forms etc. I'm due any day for my 2nd period post EC so they could proceed with my next one if the timing is right for them reopening. She tentatively said that they're hoping for end May/beg June which would be great.

Twins2girls · 01/05/2020 07:46

That’s great news @Rumtopf at least the wait hasn’t been too long. Frozen cycles are supposedly more successful too 🤞

confused107 · 01/05/2020 10:03

That's brilliant news @Rumtopf I have also heard very good things about the success rate of frozen transfers. In fact, it worked for one of my close friends who now has a beautiful nearly 3 year old

Rumtopf · 01/05/2020 13:22

That's good to hear. The research I've been doing looks good but I'm just a bit worried as we only have 1 embryo. But, what will be will be!

PickleKid · 01/05/2020 13:56

That's great news! Homerton also has better luck with FETs and the consultant told me when my embryos were not developing quickly enough that if it had to go to 6 days blasto, FET is better for them being slightly weaker ones as well. I got a good feeling about your frozen one @Rumtopf! 💕

Pinktruffle · 01/05/2020 17:10

That's fantastic news @Rumtopf. Looks like treatments can start again from 11th May so hopefully you can start you cycle fro FET very soon.

Rumtopf · 02/05/2020 00:20

I just read that! I'd had in my mind it might be September, so anything before then would be fab.

Honestly my hormones are all over the place, I'm beyond tearful so I just want this af here now so we can move on.

granddesigns · 02/05/2020 09:00

Hi all - have been trying to keep up with progress in this group as well as staying sane and watching for any update on restarting treatment like a hawk - it's been a fine balance and one I haven't always managed to strike so sorry if I dropped off or missed an update! Feeling much brighter now we have some light at the end of the tunnel!

We have a keeping in touch call from our clinic a few weeks ago and a follow up consultation with the nurse that's taken over care of all the couples who were stopped mid treatment. She advised on Monday they didn't know when they could restart but we would be the first to be treated. She ran through steps for the FET and said next steps were another consultation and a scan which they would be in touch to book in. She is off this week coming so hopefully admin will get that booked and we can start with down reg on day 1 of may period (22 ish of may)

She also gave us the grading of our 3 embryos they froze - all AB or better and 2-4. There was a C they didn't freeze but would have transferred apparently and one that didn't make it.

Was lucky with the IVF cycle not to have to down reg but hey ho, needs to be done.

Now wondering where this will all fit with lockdown - will we have a good cover story for appointments etc? will we be asked to stay home longer as possibly more vulnerable? Who knows?!

Hoping everyone else has similar stories from their clinics and feels encouraged by the developments - when they called to cancel my transfer 48 hours before it was due they said not to expect anything till summer at the earliest so think we have been quite 'lucky' in a way but obviously must never forget what has been going on and the tragedy of it all for all affected. Know the decision was made to keep everyone safe but it's wasn't half hard to remember at times!
