@ChatWithMe no fresh transfer for me, they told me it was cancelled in recovery! On the bright side, I suppose at least it means no cyclogest pessaries for the time being 😂 How are you today? Have you had your fertilisation report?

@SpyroC have you heard anything from your clinic about your embies or about transfer? How odd that we have been on the same day throughout the ivf but you still have a fresh transfer as an option and I don’t!

@granddesigns fingers crossed for your other two today!

@Pinktruffle I am feeling a bit better today thanks!

I hope everyone is ok today, I know Mother’s Day is a hard day for many people in our position. My husband has bought me flowers and chocolates from the cat so I’m not feeling too sad!

SpyroC · 22/03/2020 09:17

I just had my day 4 update and all 6 are still going. 4 are good, 1 looks good but time-lapse picked up a cell division process that is associated with a lower pregnancy outcome and the other is a bit slower. 🤞🏻 for at least 4 blasts tomorrow.

@CarbsAndCheese I'm glad you're feeling better, my cat hasn't bothered 😂. I am booked in for transfer tomorrow but they said we will discuss it further in the morning (they normally don't call in the morning). They still "strongly advise" against. I am very unsettled by the whole thing. 3 weeks ago I'd be so excited. The HFEAs statement is nicely balanced though and points out fertility associations across the world are giving conflicting advice. I'm just worried about it working and then needing urgent care. DH is 100% for it. I do think it's awful and cruel that you and @granddesigns haven't been given choice. I just think "my body, our embryos, our choice". Choice is the key word. Our options are different also because of different peoples choices. I do get why there is concern but as my DH has pointed out, nobodies suggested the fertile population think twice before ttc even though for the majority they easily could at any time. The whole cv thing is just one big nightmare. 😔

My heart goes out to anyone who's had treatment cancelled. X

Hi all, unfortunately my FET was cancelled mid treatment last week 😞 We will transfer the embryos to a private clinic when the height of the pandemic has passed (whenever that may be) and try again in the future. I just wanted to wish lots of luck to those still cycling and so sorry to everyone else in the same boat with cancelled cycles. x

Celerysam · 22/03/2020 09:49

I'm pretty sure mine has failed. Had a fresh ICSI round (round 3). Had a hatching blastocyst put back last Monday. By Thursday I had period pains, my breasts are no longer sore ( I think my progesterone has therefore dropped despite being on Lubion on cyclogest).

I'm supposed to test Wednesday but feel exactly as I did with my two previous failed rounds. I'm totally heartbroken.

Celerysam · 22/03/2020 11:39

Update: just started my period so I'm definitely out.

We have a frostie but I don't know how long it will be now until we can try with it.

I feel like I might never pick myself up from this heart break.

250515xx · 22/03/2020 11:57

@Celerysam
So sorry 😞 awful any day but seems extra cruel today. Sending a hug. Xx

CarbsAndCheese · 22/03/2020 12:08

@Celerysam so sorry, that’s just awful. Have you been in touch with your clinic? It sounds like you had a good blast there and you say it is your 3rd unsuccessful cycle so I would be asking them for more tests and answers before I put the frozen embryo in. When something awful happened to me a friend told me that the sun would shine for me again. I hope that it will shine for you again too xx

ChatWithMe · 22/03/2020 13:10

So sorry Celerysam. I've had the same feeling as you in the past when you see/feel your period coming and you get a sinking feeling. Just crap!

Sorry for those who've had treatments cancelled, especially part way in. Yes our bodies, out choice!

CarbsAndCheese my my what a lovely husband, I mean cat, you have Flowers. Glad you're feeling better and don't have messy pessaries to deal with! I'm feeling a wee bit better today too. Less bloating/pain then yesterday. Still feel bloated but I've been able to function today thank goodness. The embryologist said yesterday (day after collection) that out of 9 eggs collected they did ICSI on 6 and 3 fertilised. Not as great as we had hoped for but it all depends on the quality of those 3. Getting a call tomorrow (day 3) to update us. Tick tock!

granddesigns · 22/03/2020 13:26

Final update from my little gang. No more able to be frozen due to fragmented blasts and a poor quality blast on further examination this morning. That said we have 3 chances in the freezer once this has all passed.

Sorry to hear your update @Celerysam a lots of love today.

28legs · 22/03/2020 13:56

Hi all, I've been a watcher for years and never got involved. I resently had my egg collection, 8 blastocysts in the freezer, was always going to be a freeze all due to pcos and endometriosis. Should have had a transfer 2nd April. All of that is postponed. I'm hoping cv is going to disappear quickly government have said maybe july.also depends on a the restrictions being lifted. I'm private in Cyprus. I'm English bit live in Cyprus. plus we're on lock down so hoping we can get up and running quickly due to being a small island. I really feel for everyones cancellations/postponed. knowing how long it took me to pluck up the courage to even have fertility testing done. Could kick myself for waiting so long now. Cv seriously has alot to answer for

CarbsAndCheese · 22/03/2020 15:09

@ChatWithMe I spoke too soon! I’m fine lying down but as soon as I stand up I just feel so bloated and uncomfortable, short of breath and dizzy. Hubby has forced me to have a bed day so I’m watching Spooks right from the very beginning!

@granddesigns sorry they couldn’t freeze any more but three day five blasts is so amazing! At my clinic they give a 50% success rate for FET with blasts so I am sure that your baby is in there amongst them 😊

Hi @28legs, I think we are in the same boat. I was told I couldn’t have a fresh transfer as soon as I woke up from the egg collection. I asked the embryologist on the phone yesterday how long it would be- I asked if 6 months was a reasonable time to expect. She told me it is always two months minimum until an FET (withdrawal bleed and then a ‘normal’ period) and would think it wouldn’t be as much as six. I think I’ll probably be able to cope for that long, and the way I’m feeling today I couldn’t bear the thought of anyone going near my bits tomorrow anyway!

28legs · 22/03/2020 15:41

@CarbsAndCheese I felt shocking after my egg collection, only for 2 days like I'd done too many sit ups and some one had set fireworks off in my stomach, then I was OK. 6 months seems like a reasonable length of time to wait.
I can cope with the waiting, waited 8 years to get this far. Plus after egg collection went straight to the DIY store for paint, to pass the days while waiting for embryo news. Now we're on lock down so instead of just painting the bedroom we've carried on throughout the house. Can't go anywhere for another 3 weeks at least. So at least I'll have a freshly painted house

Celerysam · 22/03/2020 20:07

Thank you all. I had a total breakdown today. I really am struggling to cope. I think I'm going to see the fertility counsellor.

Yes you are right. I do need more tests and answers. Three times we have put back a blastocyst and this time it was a top grade hatching blastocyst.

Every time it's between day 3-5 I get the cramps l. 1st and 3rd cycle I've bled. I take injectable Lubion alongside cyclogest and I'm still convinced my progesterone levels ate dropping. Someone it seems to fail every time before the embryo had barely had chance to implant.

There are no words for how heartbroken I am.

SpyroC · 22/03/2020 20:20

Fingers crossed for your three embies tomorrow @ChatWithMe x

Sorry the other 2 didn't make it @granddesigns. Having the 3 is still great! A triplet with triplet embies waiting! X

I am so sorry @Celerysam Thanks. I saw the counsellor at the clinic and I found it really useful. They know all about our situations and are used to women with similar problems. Allow yourself time to greave. Sending hugs. X

ChatWithMe · 22/03/2020 20:51

Thanks SpyroC!

Yes, Celerysam sometimes sh*t happens in life and makes it feel impossible to move forward but humans can survive some pretty horrendous stuff. You're stronger than you think. One day at a time. It's definitely ok to cry Sad

CarbsAndCheese No matter how crap you feel physically it sounds like you have a loving husband and feeling loved actually helps your body heal I reckon. Love does nothing for bloat but if you're like me you're feeling hopeful this icky bloaty pain will go soon x

Rumtopf · 22/03/2020 21:47

@PinkTruffle congratulations! Brilliant news.

Glad to see the embies are developing well for you triplets.

@CelerySam I am so sorry. I understand your heartbreak and there just aren't enough words. Thinking of you.

@Carbsandcheese hope you feel better soon! That's interesting what they said, more than 2 months but less than 6, I'll ask tomorrow what our clinic expects.

I've got EC in the morning. I've been so tearful since trigger and today I'm either cross or sad with swollen painful boobs and nips you could cut glass on.

@luby89k when is your EC booked in for?

luby89k · 22/03/2020 21:50

@Rumtopf Wednesday. Triggering tomorrow. Good luck. Let me know how u get on

CarbsAndCheese · 23/03/2020 07:22

Good luck today @Rumtopf!

granddesigns · 23/03/2020 07:28

Good luck @Rumtopf - hope today goes ok.

SpyroC · 23/03/2020 07:30

Good luck @Rumtopf x

How are you getting on? Is your transfer still going ahead? @Robson13

OP posts:
SpyroC · 23/03/2020 07:55

I just had my day 5 phone call and it's not the best news. All 6 were still going yesterday with 4 looking good. This morning only 3 are still going. 1 is a low grade blastocyst and 2 are not quite there. I think this is likely our reason for infertility. I feel sad and that this journey just got a whole lot more difficult.

OP posts:
granddesigns · 23/03/2020 08:26

Sorry to read your update @SpyroC - so hard when it's taken out of your hands and into the lab. Will they monitor to day 6 or did they say what happens now?

CarbsAndCheese · 23/03/2020 08:27

Oh @SpyroC that is difficult news. Did they say what the plan is? I would probably ask if I could put the low grade blast in and give it a go and hope that the two that aren’t quite there grow overnight and can be frozen tomorrow. Would this be an option? Don’t lose hope- remember that @confused107 was told none looked good but then one made it to transfer. Thinking of you x

SpyroC · 23/03/2020 08:50

Thanks @granddesigns and @CarbsAndCheese . It's just such a shock after it was looking so positive yesterday. I had always been prepared for this but had got my hopes up as the day 4 report was so good.

Yes @granddesigns that is what we are doing. The grade d blastocyst is going back in today. She still "strongly recommended" freezing despite the fact that ordinarily they don't consider D good enough to freeze and it's less likely to survive the freeze! It was a no brainier. Hopefully, the other 2 catch up but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I asked what went wrong and she said it's impossible to say. But @CarbsAndCheese didn't you get told that after day 3 it's no longer the egg? I'm just wandering if this could indicate a sperm issue.

OP posts:
CarbsAndCheese · 23/03/2020 09:02

@SpyroC that’s a good plan because then you know you have done everything you possibly can. And my fingers are still crossed for the two who need a little bit more time.

I was told that until day 3 the embryo is basically just splitting so it is just dependent on what the egg has provided. In order for it to become a blastocyst it needs to not only carry on dividing but also expand and differentiate into the cells that will become the baby and those that will become the placenta. To do this is has to use its own genetic material. Egg quality still has a big part to play in this but the sperm also have a role at this point. Saying that, it’s still far more likely that the egg contributes an abnormal number of chromosomes to the embryo than the sperm, because the sperm are being constantly made ‘fresh’ and the eggs have been around for 30ish years. I think it’s a question worth asking at your follow up appointment.

Please let us know how you get on!
