@chatwithme I'm sorry to hear about your period coming but as @confused107 said, IVF maths doesn't work in this situation. I know of people who have had high quality embryos put in and got BFN and gotten BFP with 'poor' quality embryos. You just dont know what will happen. My cousin had 3 embryos of the same quality put back in (this was 12 years ago) and only 2 took - you just never know.

I've had a call from the hospital today, they said that the clinic is closing soon and my scan needs to be moved to next Thursday before they close. I will have to go alone which hubby is quite upset about. She puts me at 6 weeks 3 days out he scan date but I thought I would be 7 weeks as my EC happened on a Thursday but she seems to be dating me from transfer date. If I am 6 weeks 3 days as she said it means there is unlikely to be a heartbeat yet which I was hoping for as a reassurance.

Twins2girls · 02/04/2020 13:08

@pinktruffle try this site flo.health/tools/ivf-due-date-calculator you put in your transfer date and whether a 3 day or 5 day embryo and it calculates your due date and tells you how far gone. I used it and it gave me the same information that my clinic gave me so I think it’s accurate

ChatWithMe · 02/04/2020 13:29

I don't tell anyone about IVF during because I don't want lots of conversations about it Twins2girls . It's easier for me to draw a line under it when only my husband knows (well his mum knows too so will have to update her at some point). I feel like I can go back to normal life more quickly as everyone treats me normally when they don't know, if that makes sense.

Yes Pinktruffle it's very true how unpredictable IVF is. Even the staff at my clinic would have no idea whether it would work for me or not. Can't wait to get on with the next FET and final IVF round so I can say Adiós to baby making! On a brighter note, to whoever is reading my post - enjoy this wonderful Spring sunshine! Grin

CarbsAndCheese · 02/04/2020 13:34

@ChatWithMe I’m so sorry. Please take some time to look after yourself and start getting your head around it, which I know is much easier said than done at the moment. I’ve been looking things up excessively, and for people my age the chance of a day 5 blast being chromosomally normal is about 55%. It’s very possible that the one you had transferred was abnormal and the one in the freezer is normal, even though they are the same grade. Don’t lose hope, your outcome could be very different next time. But for now, sending a very unmumsnetty hug.

@Pinktruffle, I’ve tried working out your dates and I come up with 7 weeks by next Thursday too! (Coronavirus is killing me! Just scrolled back through the previous thread to try and work it out!!) Try using the calculator above, or tell us the date of your egg collection on here and I can work it out properly for you. Even at 6.5 weeks you’re in with a good chance of seeing the heartbeat on a transvaginal scan so try not to worry too much!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words this week. You’ve all been a great support to me and I’d love for us to have a thread again in future when we finally get our transfers!

ChatWithMe · 02/04/2020 13:45

Very true CarbsAndCheese. Fingers crossed. And yes I've heard a heartbeat can be detected from 5 weeks. Plus egg collection minus two weeks is when a woman's start date is so sounds like Pinktruffle will be sure to see that beautiful twinkly dot on the scan Thursday ;-)

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 13:55

@Twins2girls I.ve checked one of tVF calculators with my transfer date and its says I'm due November 26th. My transfer was a Day 4 on 9th March and my collection was on Thursday 5th March. So I'm 6 weeks today as far I'm aware.

@chatwithme get yourself doing all those things that you arent allowed to do when you're going through IVF, go for a run, eat some runny eggs and get plastered tonight xx

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 13:59

@carbsandcheese you got the same dates as me it looks like. I think the nurse was going off the transfer date rather than collection date

ChatWithMe · 02/04/2020 13:59

Haha yes planning naughty time for sure! ;-)

Twins2girls · 02/04/2020 14:26

@Pinktruffle I agree, you are 6 weeks today so will be 7 weeks when you have your scan. We are a week apart, I’m 5 weeks today! Smile

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 15:39

@Twins2girls yaaay! Are you having any symptoms yet? I'm not really having any, it worries me a bit.

Twins2girls · 02/04/2020 15:58

@pinktruffle I’m having no symptoms either, I know exactly how you feel! Have you tested again since your positive?

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 16:04

I tested the next day and got an even stronger line. I get the odd bit of cramping and sometimes feel a bit nauseous if I've not eaten for a while but that's about it. I needed to pee a lot last week but that's kind of subsided this week

confused107 · 02/04/2020 16:53

@Twins2girls I'm exactly the same day as you. Like you and @Pinktruffle I am not really having any symptoms either, except I have a dry mouth which im panicking could be a symptom of cv. Also a bit of cramps and constipated but that could also be the protesterone. My viability scan (I'm scared of the word viability!) is on the 16th. Today when I should have been working I've mainly been googling '5 weeks pregnant no symptoms' 'how can I tell if my pregnancy is viable' and 'what is the likelihood and symptoms of a miscarriage at 5 weeks'. I've never had a positive pregnancy test before, and being stuck in the house and a natural worrier first does not seem to be a good combination

Twins2girls · 02/04/2020 16:59

@Pinktruffle @confused107 reading your comments is like I wrote them myself! Can’t believe how similar we are all feeling, hoping that’s a good sign 🤞🤞🤞 @confused107 your first scan is earlier than mine, mines not until 20th. I was gonna do another test on Sunday just to see if it’s progressing.

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 17:04

@confused107 I've had dry mouth too, particularly in the mornings and at night, that went on for 2 weeks so I think it may be pregnancy related.

I have just eaten and I'm feeling a bit nauseous now so I'm taking that a positive right now.

I'll let you all know how my scan goes and hopefully it'll put us all at ease for a bit.

Oh, actually, I feel really hot most of the time and I'm normally a cold person, I'm putting that down to the little bean too.

SpyroC · 02/04/2020 17:45

I'm late today-I'm having a good day and haven't been thinking as much about it.

I was gutted to log on and see your news @ChatWithMe I'm so so sorry. I so wanted part 1 of this thread to end with the final 3 to test getting bfps. Definitely take some time to enjoy all the things you weren't allowed to do before. Gin and running sounds great to me! As others have said, your frostie has every chance of making it. The one bit of reading I did today was the site I'll past below. I found it really informative and it backs up your other embryo having a good chance too. As you started your period could it be an issue with progesterone support? Isn't this supposed to make our bodies think we're pg and stop us from bleeding? Something to discuss at your review perhaps. Sending you lots of hugs xxx

www.remembryo.com/embryo-grading/

@Pinktruffle that's annoying! I wonder why they are closing? The viability scans looked to be the only thing still going on, which I thought was odd actually as they don't happen in normal pregnancies. I take it the whole point is to check for ectopics. From what others have said it sounds like you may see a heartbeat. Fingers crossed for you.

@Chatwithme I'm so sorry to read your news. Take care of yourself and everyone's right, drink the gin, eat the soft cheese and rare steak and do all the naughty things.

We definitely need another FET group for us all when the time is right.

Pinktruffle · 02/04/2020 18:55

@SpyroC I'm guessing it's because IVF cycles have all been suspended and the staff will be deployed elsewhere. Anesthetists are much needed on Covid wards and I imagine the nurses are being deployed to birthing wards as midwives are being deployed to Covid wards too

SpyroC · 02/04/2020 20:04

@Pinktruffle that makes sense. I actually wandered whether they'd use clinics for more antenatal stuff such as scans instead of having routine appointments at the hospital where there are likely c19 patients.

ChatWithMe · 02/04/2020 20:18

Thanks SpyroC and Rumtopf. Good article. I've read it before. It's funny seeing various posts about indulging in eggs, steak and cheese now I'm not pregnant cause I'm vegan lol Just had delicious chocolate chip cookies my husband baked to take the edge off the bad day. Gonna try to watch a feel good film now too x

Shmabel · 02/04/2020 22:21

Just dropping in at this late stage on the thread to say @confused107, @twins2girls, @Pinktruffle, after my BFP I had no symptoms at all for a few weeks and obsessed over whether I'd have a miscarriage. I almost felt like a fraud! When my symptoms came in about 6-7 weeks I felt reassured initially, but went on to have hideous morning sickness for 10 weeks so be careful what you wish for! Oh and congratulations! I'm 23 weeks with my first via IVF after many, many years infertility. I felt I'd waited all those years to see my very own positive pregnancy test, but it's not until I got there I realised there so much more waiting and worrying to come! But it definitely got better as my pregnancy progressed.

@SpyroC I had af pain before my positive. And then for weeks afterwards. Still do occasionally. I looked up threads where people had said they had those pains and went on to be pregnant, but I still thought there was no way I could have the exact same af cramps and be pregnant. But I was so hopefully you are too. Fingers crossed for you!

Sorry to all of you with shitty news Flowers
For those of you waiting on FET, that's what I had (ohss) and there are studies now suggesting some women might do better rather than fresh because egg stim/collection really takes it's toll. Also, the most important thing about an embryo is that it's chromosomally normal, and you can't tell that from its grade. So the way I look at it is if a fresh transfer failed, odds are better that the remaining embryo is chromosomally capable of creating a perfect little baby. Best of luck to all of you.

ChatWithMe · 03/04/2020 07:15

Thanks Shmabel. So glad you have been successful and will get to meet your little one soon. All the best Star

Twins2girls · 03/04/2020 07:16

Thank you @Shmabel for your great message, very reassuring Smile

confused107 · 03/04/2020 07:31

Thanks @shmabel best of look with the rest of your pregnancy. Nearly there now! 💕

SpyroC · 03/04/2020 08:04

Thanks @Shmabel it's stories like yours that have helped to keep me positive these past few days.

The af cramps seem to have eased yet bizarrely I now have a tiny amount of pink spotting. I'm scared af is going to come today. It's going to be a tough day. At lest I'll know for sure by tomorrow morning.
