Hi all

I recently had a mmc from my first IVF cycle and am waiting for AF to appear (probably 3-4 weeks away) so we can do FET. I think we'll probably go for a natural cycle but am waiting for some information from my clinic to make a final decision. Had follow up consultation yesterday and will be having nurse consultation in the next couple of weeks hopefully. If anyone is happy to share their FET experiences I'd love to hear them. A little worried that a natural cycle might be the wrong choice. Anyway, if anyone fancies joining me for some support then join the thread.

@Gursharankaur28 prob no such thing as tmi on this type of thread! I don't remember specific timings, but I had some on/off discharge in my previous pregnancy, but almost none with this, which is ending in miscarriage. Not sure this would be the same for everyone though - or indeed the same for each pregnancy even for the same person

Gursharankaur28 · 22/11/2019 21:28

@sometimesalways thanks for that! I'm just going mad thinking this round hasn't worked as it's my first or I've done something wrong 😑

Marmite83 · 22/11/2019 22:38

@Gursharankaur28, I've had various colours of discharge since transfer. I'm on Crinone pessaries so that just increases the presence of discharge. Varies between cream, white, yellowish, brownish and pink. I'm currently 5+4. I definitely don't think it's an indication that it's not worked so try not to over analyse, I know it's hard. And as @sometimesalways said, no such thing as tmi on this thread.

@ginandtonicformeplease congratulations! Fingers crossed for the scan!

BettySwoll0cks · 23/11/2019 08:05

Morning all, delighted to see some more good news! How lovely.

I'm just catching up after a day in bed with a migraine. I've never had one before, just read that oestrogen withdrawal can cause them, I wonder if it's the aftermath of my first ivf cycle. God it was horrendous though I have so much sympathy for people who get them regularly Sad

Roobles79 · 23/11/2019 09:12

Congrats @ginandtonicformeplease 🌞🌞🌞

Roobles79 · 23/11/2019 09:18

Had a call this morn we were getting ready for day 3 transfer, just had a call from the clinic to say that the two embryos are still going strong and top quality, because they can't decide between the two, we are having a transfer on Monday at which point they should be able to tell which is the better quality one. Beyond happy and relieved! XX

Marmite83 · 23/11/2019 11:13

Fantastic news @Roobles79! Hopefully two top quality blasts by Monday.

Thank you @marmite83 really hope so 🤞 hopefully there is a good chance but really don't know the odds of them surviving til day 5? Feel a bit attached to them now. Is ET painful? x

fool11 · 23/11/2019 16:09

Hi All, I hope you don’t mind me joining at such a late stage...we just had our first , and only ivf, I’m 45 so we need to draw a line somewhere and I know I could not do this again...I was on a short protocol, got 11 eggs, 10 fertilised, all made it to day 5, 2 good ones ,rest left to day day 6 but we’re poor quality so nothing frozen (which in weird way made it easier for me).. I had DET and tested yesterday and it’s positive, which I still can’t believe..I have one 4y DD, naturally conceived. I called clinic and they said they will arrange for a scan in 2w time...stupid question perhaps but how do they count pregnancy weeks when ivf? Is it from the day of last period like in normal pregnancy or from the day eggs were fertilised? I would like to have scan asap, my last pregnancy ended in MMC and didn’t find out until scan during w11, had surgery to remove it, don’t want to find out so late again if something wrong, trying br positive but at my age quality of eggs is prob not great . And did you tell your gp that u are pregnant as such early stage, after OTD or did u wait till you had a scan at the clinic where u had ivf? I just feel a bit lost now, not sure what I need to do..sorry for the lengthy post.

@fool11 congratulations.

Try this....
www.yourivfjourney.com/baby-calculators-for-pregnancy/ivf-and-fet-due-date-calculator/

LillyLeaf · 23/11/2019 16:23

If that link didn't work Google 'your IVF journey IVF due date calculator' I've used that before and it was the same date as what the clinic gave me.

LillyLeaf · 23/11/2019 16:30

@BettySwoll0cks how awful, I hope you're feeling better today.

@Roobles79 that's great news! Fingers crossed for the next few days. ET is uncomfortable like a smear test because they use a speculum and I always struggle with them (I have a good pelvic floor apparently) but it's over very quickly. It's a bit surreal watching on the screen a flash of light going in.

fool11 · 23/11/2019 16:34

Thank you @LillyLeaf. Looks like they also use the last period day (estimated) not the EC, fertilisation day..just assumed they would do the EC day as they know when the eggs were fertilised..says I’m 4w 3D pregnant but I know it’s been only 17 days since EC..

LillyLeaf · 23/11/2019 16:47

@fool11 I think 4+3 is correct

Roobles79 · 23/11/2019 17:49

Thank you @lillyleaf. Can u feel the catheter? Hopefully not. X

fool11 · 23/11/2019 18:02

Thank you.

sometimesalways · 23/11/2019 18:09

@Roobles79 you don't feel the catheter, just the speculum, it's a bit uncomfortable (like a Pap smear) but no pain. Don't worry about it at all. My main worry is usually getting the balance right between having a very full bladder as they ask you to, and not peeing during the process! Weird for sure, but not painful

Roobles79 · 23/11/2019 19:46

@sometimesalways thank you 👍 that's reassuring. Lol at the weeing 😂I will let you know how it goes x

ginandtonicformeplease · 24/11/2019 17:37

@Roobles79 I found the same - I spent the time just trying to stop myself from weeing! It's not easy when they're pressing the ultrasound on your stomach! It's not painful though, just uncomfortable.

I went for a blood test yesterday and the clinic called this morning with the result - HCG is 316, which is apparently good. Progesterone also looking good. To be repeated tomorrow so just got to hope that it doubles!

I'm off to DM's for a roast dinner now, when all I want to do is curl up on the sofa with a hot water bottle! I've started getting waves of queasiness, which isn't helping. DM will know something's up when I refuse a drink, but (unlike MIL!) is far too polite to mention anything and will keep her suspicions to herself Smile.

Marmite83 · 25/11/2019 09:40

@fool11 4+3 sounds correct to me (or 4+5 as you must be today)

@Roobles79 Once the speculum was in I didn't really feel much, other than the need to pee. Have you heard from the clinic, how are your embryos doing? Good luck for transfer today.

I'm 6 weeks today and the nausea has been ramping up over the weekend. It's definitely worse when I'm hungry but a I'm having a pretty constant lingering nauseous feeling now which is not particularly pleasant but very welcome because it gives me hope. It's going to be a long week waiting for my scan on Friday.

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Roobles79 · 25/11/2019 10:19

@marmite83 thank you, sounds like the need to pee is the worst bit from what people are saying. Our appt is 2pm today, so I guess will start downing the water about an hr before? Also this sounds silly q but did u wear any deodorant or face cream even if non perfumed?

I don't think they tell us what the embryos are doing now until we get there. Eek! I hope they have developed well and still going strong, even if we have just the one left. I will keep you posted.

That's reassuring you are getting some waves of nausea! Yay! Promising sign 😁🌞 good excuse to eat whenever you fancy 😉xx

Marmite83 · 25/11/2019 10:30

@Roobles79 I was told not to wear deodorant and I didn't use my face cream or foundation either just to be sure. I downed lots of water before my appt and my consultant actually gave me a cup and told me to go for a pee to let out a cup full because my bladder was too full. Thank goodness he did otherwise I think I would have burst. I was still desperate for a pee straight after the procedure. Also, apologies in advance, I needed a number 2 straight afterwards, both times I had a transfer. I think it's how my body reacts to the catheter going through the cervix as I had the same when I had a coil fitted. I was worried it would decrease our chances but I got a bfp both times so don't worry if the same happens to you. I've got everything crossed for two beautiful blasts and a smooth transfer!

Haha just looked at myself in the mirror no makeup and I look like a ghost haha! I think the pessaries make me feel the need to go more, that and the nerves! Thank you for the heads up 👍 so glamorous all this isn't it. Wish it was earlier, I'm getting quite nervous now, good nerves I think though Xx

Roobles79 · 25/11/2019 11:25

Ah ok will bear that in mind 😉 thanks for the heads up 👍 just looked at myself in the mirror no makeup and I look like a ghost lol.I have told husband not to wear any deodarent or any perfumed shower gel too, he's just jumped in the shower again to wash it all off 🙃Wish the appt was earlier, I'm getting quite nervous now, good nerves I think though. Thank you for your best wishes!😍 I will let you know how it goes Xx
