Anyone on Letrozole?

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

I think it's personal preference. I would and I did last month but the hot tub wasn't super super hot. Not sure about when TTC but I know part
Of the reason you can't when pregnant is to do with blood pressure etc on my hen do my friend was pregnant and went in one bit again it wasn't really Hot and she made sure she didn't sit on any jets @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 01/03/2020 16:03

Thanks everyone for your hot tub thoughts! I had the same thing back in November when I went to a spa for my sister's birthday. I obsessed over it and found one study that said it was safe, but then I ended up being on my period anyway so didn't matter!
@AfterGlow87 it's good to know what your clinic says. I'll be 9dpo so bang on implantation time. @TTCbabyONE I worry about everything too. No special occasion, it's just a nice break for us as I've found the past couple of months so hard and all-consuming. We're desperate for a holiday but it's hard to book with potential IVF looming, so we're going to have some nice weekends instead. Can't wait!
Hmmm... I think I'll probably end up just dangling my feet in or going in just for 5 or 10 mins. It's probably totally safe and I'm sure I've read it's totally safe but I just worry so much about everything. Thanks all, I really appreciate it! X

@unknownscot what's the latest with the bleeding? Has it continued?
With AMH testing, I had a blood test with NHS right at the start of the investigations that told them my AMH level I think. Is this the one that tells you how many eggs you have?

Sylva123 · 01/03/2020 16:08

@TTCbabyONE I had a couple of cycles where I wasn't sure when I ovulated so I did on test with NHS in the hospital and then I bought some extra ones online and did them at home (they're finger prick tests, about £40). Usually I think they say 7 days after ovulation is best (or 7 days before next period, but that can be hard to predict if your cycles are random like mine). X

TTCbabyONE · 01/03/2020 20:24

@AfterGlow87 I didn’t use the OPKs this cycle. The lady I asked at my clinic said try not to use them as they aren’t always accurate. First time not using them, although I’ve never had a positive one anyway x

@Sylva123 aww you will have a lovely time. Lots of nice weekend and little activities will mean you’ll always have something go look forward to on this tough journey.
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll have a look at the home kits never thought about those xx

JadeS174 · 01/03/2020 20:33

@Sylva123 @AfterGlow87 @H28MM @TTCbabyONE
Thank you. Obviously very disappointed with the BFN. This journey is harrowing and emotional. But here goes month number 16 TTC and first month on Letrazole 🤞🏼

@TTCbabyONE I ovulated on on CD18 in January and had bloods on CD21- my results came back at 96.6. But might be best to wait until a week after ovulation?

@unknownscot I had my AMH levels checked through NHS.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for luck this month. XxX

Sylva123 · 01/03/2020 20:36

@TTCbabyONE I used Forthwithlife and they were quick to give me results. There's also one called Thriva that I haven't used yet. It's a bloomin nightmare getting all the blood into the little pot (I did it on a camping trip once - not recommended!) but it's convenient X

unknownscot · 02/03/2020 18:13

Hope you're all doing well.
I'm still having really light spotting. Called today and my bloods on Friday show I've ovulated. So I'm just taking it easy and trying not to overthink.
Will see what happens at the end of next week!

Sylva123 · 03/03/2020 15:37

@unknownscot fingers crossed for you

Sylva123 · 03/03/2020 15:38

@HarrietM87 how are you getting on? Is it still a BFP? X

unknownscot · 03/03/2020 18:03

@Sylva123 thanks.
The spotting has stopped - I'm going on a hen a week on Friday so going to test before it just incase x

Sylva123 · 03/03/2020 19:09

Oh crikey @unknownscot good luck! That would be such a lovely start to the weekend!

Am I the only one that has ballooned in weight? I've gone from a size 8 to almost a 14. I stopped going to the gym in June partly cos of all this and partly cos of a liver problem I had, so it's a lot to do with that, but I'd also like to blame the letrozole 🤣

HarrietM87 · 04/03/2020 09:04

Hi @Sylva123 thank you for asking. I’ve done a few tests and the lines have got darker so it’s not a chemical I don’t think. But all my losses have been at the 5-6 week mark (and last 2 have been missed miscarriages so no sign of a problem) so I can’t assume all is ok until I have a scan in the last week of March. Seems an age to wait.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I’ve gained quite a bit of weight but the steroids I’m on do that so I’d put it down to that.

Fwiw I’d prob have a dip in the hot tub if I were you. Have a lovely time!

unknownscot · 04/03/2020 10:22

@HarrietM87 Wishing you all the luck and healthiness! X

JadeS174 · 05/03/2020 20:20

Ladies I need some advice.
This will be my first month on Letrazole. I'm currently on day 3 of taking it. My fertility clinic has advised me that they have no scans available this month so have offered a day 21 blood tests.
I know some people don't get any monitoring at all but I've been scanned every cycle so far. I'm worrying that this month without the scan I won't know if the Letrazole is working or how many follicles there are, if my endometrial lining is thickening? Okay yes the blood test will confirm ovulation or not. My husband has suggested a private scan? What would you guys do? Shall I just suck it up this month? X

Carleyxo · 05/03/2020 20:40

Hi @JadeS174 so I only ever get one scan with clomid and it's the same with letrozole. If cycle one worked well then I wouldn't worry for you and the lining doesn't thing on letrozole (as far as I'm aware) so you should be ok :) x

JadeS174 · 05/03/2020 21:31

Thanks @Carleyxo I wouldn't mind if I'd already had 1 monitored cycle of Letrazole and knew it had worked but this is my first cycle since switching from Clomid. So will be non the wiser if it's working. X

Sylva123 · 05/03/2020 22:00

@jades174 I'd say if it puts your mind at ease go for the private scan. I think they're around £150? Like Carley said it's most likely totally, totally fine and the day 21 test will show you if you've ovulated on it, but if you're used to being scanned and it'll help you to know how many follicles etc then maybe just pay this once? I didn't get scanned over Xmas and it was absolutely fine (haha although actually that was the month that I ovulated super early and pretty much missed it. Sods law!). I think in terms of safety you're fine without the scan, but it's what you need for peace of mind xx

Carleyxo · 05/03/2020 22:29

Oh yes I see what you mean then @JadeS174 I agree with @Sylva123x though if you want to see what's going on inside there :)

How are you doing @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 05/03/2020 22:35

Yeah I'm ok ta @Carleyxo. Just plodding along over here. Had my monthly pre-implantation argument with my OH last night (seems to happen like clockwork every month around this time!). But we're all made up and are off to Cornwall for a lovely long weekend tomorrow. Can't wait! Just going to walk and paint and eat nice food and sit by the bonfire. Can't wait! Will be testing on Thurs next week. Really want this month to be our month. How about you? Xx

Carleyxo · 05/03/2020 22:38

It's always the way isn't it 😩😩 oh lovely I think we need to start doing some lovely weekends away to enjoy each other's companies again.

I actually really don't know when I ovulated for sure this month but I'm due on Thursday and I just did a test and as I expected it was negative but I know it could be too early so I'll wait till Thursday but sure it wouldn't happen this month anyway I have a feeling about next month @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 05/03/2020 22:44

Oooh that's good that you have a feeling for next month! I hope it happens for you! Fingers crossed!
Yes I think it's more important than ever to try to carve out nice time together. The last minj holiday we tried to have together ended in tears - it was my first month on clomid+HCG+cyclogest and i just couldn't manage my emotions and cried all weekend! Hoping this one will be a bit more chilled!!
Fingers crossed for us both next Thursday 🤞
And it must be your salon award thing soon? X

Sylva123 · 05/03/2020 22:45

Omg I meant "mini" not "minj" 🤣

JadeS174 · 05/03/2020 23:00

@Sylva123 @Carleyxo Thank you.
Good luck to you both for testing next week
Have everything crossed 🤞🏼
@Sylva123 hope you have a lovely relaxing long weekend away.

I think I'll just suck it up this month- I appreciate I'm lucky to get monitored so will just go with the day 21 blood test to confirm ovulation or not and go from there. X
