Anyone on Letrozole?

1000 replies

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

@unknownscot the TWW is two week wait, basically the 2 weeks after ovulation and before your next period. Basically the 2 weeks where you're waiting to find out if your pregnant or not. Don't worry I'm not too clued you up on all the acronyms either, but everyone seems to use them on this site! How was your blood test?

@rubywoo24 Aw thanks for that - makes sense when you know!

I get the results on Monday so will keep you all posted.

rubywoo24 · 24/10/2019 20:38

Thought I'd keep you all updated. Our second cycle unfortunately failed so onto the 3rd one. CD2 today!

@rubywoo24 sorry to hear this x

beibikeiks · 25/10/2019 02:01

@rubywoo24
I'm so sorry to hear that 😔
If I may ask, was is unsuccessful due to no ovulation or was there ovulation but didn't result in pregnancy?

I hope your next cycle goes well! 😊

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/10/2019 07:31

@rubywoo24 cycle 2 staring for us too, CD 2 for me today so start the drugs tonight. 🤞🏽 This is our month

rubywoo24 · 25/10/2019 09:20

@beibikeiks I actually don't know! This month I didn't get a scan or blood test as the clinic said I didn't need to given I'd ovulated in month 1. Still seems strange to me as I'm pretty sure there is a chance that I may have ovulated as a one off. Going to ring them today to ask whether I can have the blood test for this last cycle, as it would be good to know for sure

@Goingbacktokansascity good luck!

@rubywoo24
I totally get that. I'd ask them for a blood test for this cycle!

I'm only getting a blood test, no scan. But I was put straight onto a higher dose (5mg) so I'm hoping that works 🤞

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/10/2019 11:34

Don’t get disheartened! It took me until 7.5mg to ovulate! No blood tests for me this month but last month they were happy with a day 22 progesterone of 17!

rubywoo24 · 25/10/2019 16:06

@beibikeiks I spoke to them and the nurse said they wouldn't do a blood test as once you've ovulated, it's pretty good evidence to show you will ovulate again with no issues.
Although she has said that if this cycle doesn't work, I have to go in for a tubal scan. Has anyone had one of these?

OP posts:
Goingbacktokansascity · 25/10/2019 16:21

@rubywoo24 yes I’ve had a Hysterosalpingogram ig really was fine! People say it’s painful but I found it completely painless and easy

beibikeiks · 25/10/2019 18:15

@rubywoo24
I haven't had it, but it's a good thing that they'll do that for you. I only have one tube and I'm afraid that one is blocked or something and since I've already had an ectopic that burst my right tube, I'd like to have the remaining one checked out so I know it's not blocked 😫

Fingers crossed for this cycle for you though 🤞🤞😁😁

rubywoo24 · 26/10/2019 00:07

@Goingbacktokansascity thanks! That's reassuring to hear, I kind of just want to get it done now so we know if there are any issues

rubywoo24 · 26/10/2019 18:45

@beibikeiks are you in the UK? Can you ask them to do the tubal check?

OP posts:
beibikeiks · 26/10/2019 23:20

@rubywoo24
I'm not in the UK anymore no, but if Letrozole doesn't work for me my doctor had mentioned a lap surgery as a next step to check everything out. I'm going to discuss tubal procedure as well 😊

unknownscot · 28/10/2019 16:18

Hi guys, so CD21 results came in today and I've ovulated! That was my first cycle on letrozole so I'm trying to be positive.
Hope you're all doing well - keep positive x

rubywoo24 · 28/10/2019 19:04

@unknownscot that's great news! Hopefully that's put your mind to rest a little

OP posts:
beibikeiks · 28/10/2019 21:30

@unknownscot
That's amazing! I hope this cycle works out for you 😊

This gives me some hope for my cycle!

Goingbacktokansascity · 29/10/2019 08:08

@unknownscot congrats!
Letrozole for some reason made my cycle 24 days last month which it has never done, day 21 tests showed ovulation (apparently although I think 17 is too low). So now onto the next!
Anyone else CD 6?

squirrelnutkins1 · 30/10/2019 13:24

Hiya
I've been on Letrazole four months and it's helped regulate my cycles to 29 days which is good but this month it was a really weird period, only (sorry tmi) brown blood for 3/4 days. Not massively heavy. I've not taken my next lot of Letrazole as I was waiting for a proper flow! Anyone else had this? X

unknownscot · 31/10/2019 12:41

@squirrelnutkins1

I've been having brown spotting too. Will wait and see if I get a proper period

Goingbacktokansascity · 31/10/2019 14:32

@squirrelnutkins1 @unknownscot me too, but I ballsed up and ended up taking the letrozole and I think that’s why my cycle last month ended at day 24 🙄 CD8 now after a proper flow

squirrelnutkins1 · 01/11/2019 08:38

@Goingbacktokansascity @unknownscot I've taken two tests and both BFN as suspected. It's just weird not having any red blood, don't think that's ever happened before. I decided not to take the Letrazole this month with not having a proper flow. In one way I feel a bit of relief, we'll still try but it's taken a bit of pressure off I think. Hope you guys get your BFPs soon!

Goingbacktokansascity · 01/11/2019 08:52

I’m having a proper scan tomorrow to look at follicles so 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
