Anyone on Letrozole?

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

Quick question for you ladies. I know a few of you have talked about having a month off the letrozole - how did it affect your cycle and did you still ovulate that month? It’s letrozole day for me and umming and ahhing about whether to take it this month but it is the all important last go before IVF... xx

Sylva123 · 28/02/2020 09:04

@Carleyxo that's so annoying about your opks. Sounds like you've dtd on all the right days though so fingers crossed. The opks just don't seem 100% reliable do they.

@HarrietM87 feeling so much better today thanks. I think it was a urine infection but I drank 4 giant bottles of cranberry juice and it's passed now thank goodness. Did you do your preg test???

@Longtermttc I haven't taken a month off but hopefully someone else will help you decide. Have you responded to it well so far?

Also a side thing, for those using special ttc-friendly lube, I've now tried using both Conceive Plus and Preseed and I find Preseed way better - feels much more like our "natural" moisture down there.

TTCbabyONE · 28/02/2020 11:38

Hi all, hope everyone’s ok?

I’ve not been getting the notifications when someone posts, so thought there was radio silence on this 🤦🏼‍♀️.. just reading through the last few pages trying to catch up to where everyone is at.

Had my follicle scan on Monday, one follicle either side and they were the right size. Got bloods next week and keeping everything crossed that I actually ovulate on 7.5mg!
If no ovulation then should get trigger next cycle! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@LongtermTTC I’m only one 2nd cycle and have no natural cycle so I can’t offer any advice x

How’s everyone doing? Xx

HarrietM87 · 28/02/2020 11:57

I did test this morning and got a faint bfp! Obviously feel happy and excited but it’s such early days for me - this will be my 7th pregnancy and I have one child - so it’s too early to count any chickens yet. Will keep you all posted.

Hope everyone else is doing well. @LongtermTTC letrozole has a very short half life and is out of your system within a week or so of taking it, so your cycle should go back to normal straight away. Best of luck to you!

Sylva123 · 28/02/2020 14:08

Oh @HarrietM87 congratulations on the BFP! I understand it's early days and you've been through some losses before, which is heartbreaking, but it's so hopeful to get this far. I really, really hope it sticks and that this will be your second child. So nice to finally see a BFP on this thread 💕

Sylva123 · 28/02/2020 14:10

@TTCbabyONE welcome back! Good news about the follicles! Hope you get a good progesterone reading next week 🤞🤞🤞. I'm on CD15 - are we at a similar point? Also got two follicles so come on little eggies!

TTCbabyONE · 28/02/2020 14:38

Hi @sylva123 I’m on CD18 so we are almost the same point! When are your bloods booked for? Mine are 4th March so I’ll be CD23 x

@HarrietM87 congratulations, will keep everything crossed for you, sending you lots of love and luck 🤞🏼💕 xxx

JadeS174 · 28/02/2020 15:21

Oh @HarrietM87 congrats. Hopefully all goes well for you! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Girls I'm 13dpo and am so proud of myself- have not tested at all! I'm fairly certain I'm going to come on- AF due Sunday. But am going to test in the morning just to be sure. X

Sylva123 · 28/02/2020 15:38

I don't have bloods booked this time @TTCbabyONE but I do tend to ovulate so fingers crossed. I hope yours comes out high.

Well done for not testing @JadeS174! It's hard not to! Let us know how the test goes tmw!!!

AfterGlow87 · 28/02/2020 16:37

@HarrietM87 Ah congrats on your bfp!! Lovely to have one on the thread. Keeping everything crossed for you 🥰

Good luck with your bloods @TTCbabyONE, hope you ovulate!

You have some willpower @JadeS174! I always say I won’t but then do 🙈 fingers crossed for you!

@sylva123 I felt very similar yesterday, convinced I was getting a UTI but after lots of water not so bad today 🤔

Happy Friday all! So glad it’s the weekend

unknownscot · 28/02/2020 16:37

I'm day 20 today and just had some light spotting when I went to the loo
Ovulation bleeding?

Sylva123 · 29/02/2020 09:51

@unknownscot I hope it's ovulation bleeding 🤞. Are you due to ovulate around this time? Could it be an implantation bleed? Hope whatever it is that it's good news x

H28MM · 29/02/2020 10:30

Hi all
I am a 28yo F and have been TTC for 2 years. I have had a series of bad luck with gynaecological health but despite that all my tests are fine, my ovaries are functioning and there is nothing wrong with me.
We have unexplained infertility.
I was prescribed Clomid which was the devils drug (& unsuccessful) and now I've just been prescribed Letrozole - I am much more hopeful 😊 the side affects are apparently less and success rate is much higher.
What is your experience?
Despite my positivity, I find this journey so incredibly lonely so it would be lovely to hear from someone who has had experience with this drug and knows how it all bloody feels!
Take care,
H
PS thanks to @sylva123 for inviting me over to this thread. I’ll have a good read today 😊

JadeS174 · 29/02/2020 11:02

@H28MM welcome to the group. I'm 29.
We started trying to conceive October 2018, I'd had been diagnosed with endometriosis and had a laparoscopy in December 2018, around August I had a follow up with my
Gynae consultant and she referred me to a fertility consultant for tests as we hadn't fallen pregnant. Test showed I wasn't ovulating but husband SA was normal. So advised 6 rounds of Clomid and then IVF if not successful.
However currently on my 3rd cycle but the Clomid has thinned my lining although producing eggs- now been switched the Letrazole.
13dpo today and BFN 😔 So this will be my first month on Letrazole. Hopefully it works for us both. X

Sylva123 · 29/02/2020 11:08

Welcome @h28mm! I'm on my 3rd round of letrozole now, after doing 1 on clomid. I've also been trying for just over 2 years now (2 years 4 months I think) & have "unexplained".
Hope you have some good luck with letrozole! There's lots of support on here. Some of us are towards the end of our letrozole journey & looking at IVF options, others are just starting and one person even got a BFP this week :-)

Sylva123 · 29/02/2020 11:10

@jades174 so sorry to read about the BFN. So disappointing. I hope you have better luck with letrozole than clomid. My lining thickened up quickly when I stopped clomid so hopefully yours will too. Hope you have a gentle weekend planned x

AfterGlow87 · 29/02/2020 13:29

@JadeS174 so sorry to hear that!! It’s so disappointing. Mind yourself this weekend x

Welcome @h28mm! 😊 I’m 32, TTC 14 months and on my second month of Letrozole! Have one confirmed dodgy tube so trying this until I start ivf in July. Best of luck to you 🤞

So my cousin announced her second pregnancy at dinner - she wasn’t even trying and is in shock. Obviously I’m so happy for her but a bit sad for me too - hope that doesn’t sound too selfish! It’s funny how it’s so easy for some and not for others

H28MM · 29/02/2020 15:12

Thanks so much guys!
@afterglow87 are you in the UK?
My consultant said I wasn’t able to be on the IVF waiting list whilst taking my Letrozole - it was one or the other...which is fine because I want more time to think about IVF, but the process is so long I’d prefer to be on Letrozole and on the wait list as the same time to move things on quicker??
Does that make sense? Let me know 😊

I totally get it with your cousin, it’s so awful to feel so meh when someone announces their pregnancy. I have 4 very close friends who are just into their second trimester and it been really really hard for me.

@JadeS174 sorry to hear about your BFN ☹️ I’ll be thinking of all of you guys this month. Thanks for being so welcoming.
H x

AfterGlow87 · 29/02/2020 16:47

@H28MM no I’m not in the UK, IVF is private here, no public funding at all so we’re saving up over the next few months.

I just have to accept there’s going to be pregnancy announcements and keep positive that my time will come :)

Carleyxo · 29/02/2020 20:02

Hey @H28MM I'm 29 and been TTC since August 2018 but came off the pill March 2018.
I'm in the UK and have had six rounds of clomid husbands SA was really good but we had no luck although I did ovulate and grow Good size follicles. Moved on to letrozole and asked for another SA and this one decreased a fair bit so not so good. Got another SA end of March to see if the changes we have made have made any difference and we will see what happens from there x

Sylva123 · 29/02/2020 23:03

@h28mm It seems so silly not to let you try with letrozole whilst being on the waiting list! All the rules seem so counter productive! I'm waiting to find out if our borough will start funding it in April but am otherwise taking out a loan to go private.

Question for everyone - hot tubs? I have read SO many conflicting things about this. I'm in my tww now and am going for a weekend away to a cottage with an outdoor wood fired hot tub next weekend. Shall I just dangle my feet in it to be safe, rather than going all in? Have you guys read anything about that? X

unknownscot · 29/02/2020 23:59

@Sylva123 personally I would use a hot tub until I had my positive test. But each to their own...

TTCbabyONE · 01/03/2020 10:52

Hi @slyva123 how lovely! Is it for a special occasion? Will be nice to be able relax
With the hot tub it’s a hard one as everyone is so different. I’ve looked this up before and about really hot baths and like you said it’s so conflicting and hard to get a definitive answer.

If it was me I would just dangle my feet and maybe go in for like 5-10mins at a time.
(Although saying that I am a massive worrier so I tend to be over cautious about everything.)
Sorry I can’t offer any better advice x

@JadeS174 sorry to hear about your BFN. Fingers crossed your body will react better to Letrozole than clomid. Hopefully you can find some time for some self care this weekend. I find a long walk/big bath/yoga help when I’m feeling low x

Need some advice, I’m CD20 and I think I’m only just ovulating, my bloods are booked for CD23 but I’m guessing that’s too soon to show anything. I wonder if have late ovulation, I remember someone one this thread did but can’t remember who 🤦🏼‍♀️ Should I request to have my bloods later? Or have them and then just test in 2 weeks? Xx

AfterGlow87 · 01/03/2020 12:08

@TTCbabyONE If you are sure you’re only ovulating today, I would put it off until CD 27 as it will only be negative in 3 days! Have you a positive OPK?

@Sylva123 the clinic I’m in advises not to use hot tubs or jacuzzi’s in the 2WW but that’s in the case of putting embryos back for IVF....where abouts will you be in the 2WW? If it was near implantation I’d probably air on the side of caution myself...

unknownscot · 01/03/2020 12:36

I really think it's personal choice. Although I said I would go in, it wouldn't be for a very long time. I couldn't dangle my feet in - I'd be way too jealous. All or nothing 😂

Has anyone had AMH levels through NHS? Do they offer this? Think it's private only but need to get it done if I want to go down the private route. To be honest I might pay to get it done anyway just for my own sake.
