Anyone on Letrozole?

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

It's so ridiculous isn't it. Both feeling deflated he's fallen asleep but my birthday has been uplifted because I literally just found out now my salon has made it to the final of the English hair and beauty awards so I'm so excited - I think I may wake him up haha..

I think it will be IVF as it sounds like this last cycle of letrozole will be the last and she would represcribe anymore :( @Sylva123 x

Sylva123 · 28/01/2020 21:23

Oh my goodness that's amazing!!! Congratulations!! That is lovely. Does that mean you get to go to an event and maybe get an award? Well done!

And yay for your birthday tomorrow. I hope it's a lovely day and a good distraction from all this. And I hope the sun shines for you at Durdle Door. I'm off to Portland for work but am going to have a sneaky walk along the beach if it's nice!

Happy birthday! Xx

@Carleyxo (I forgot to tag)

Carleyxo · 28/01/2020 22:02

Thank you so much lovely 🥰 I hope so it's a big event so we may or we may not get an award but it will be an unforgettable experience for sure.

Thank you I bet it's going to be beautiful. A walk on the beach sounds perfect @Sylva123 x

So gals I'm averaging a 34 day cycle. I'm currently CD20 and had some very very light spotting while I was at the toilet I noticed it.

Any idea? I don't want to be too hopefully and think it's implantation bleeding. Could it be?
I'm highly doubting it.

I have one more cycle of letrozole if this is unsuccessful then the discussion of ivf begins...

X

Carleyxo · 29/01/2020 08:38

@unknownscot when did you ovulate? I think there is a chance of implantation I hope it is for you!!

I have one more cycle then the talk of IVF - how many cycles of letrozole have you had x

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 09:18

@carleygh I don't really know when I ovulate which is a pain.
I'm just out the GP - had my CD21 bloods done.

However it was the doctor today rather than the nurse. She asked if my cycle was a regular 28 day I said no - it averages 34 days.

She said I've probably been getting my bloods done too early - so I've to go back next week again.

It's all so confusing. X

Carleyxo · 29/01/2020 09:19

Oh
Bless you how frustrating, do you use tests? @unknownscot x

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 09:34

@Carleyxo i tagged the wrong person! Oops

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 09:35

@Carleyxo

No because the clinic told me they weren't accurate. Think I might start using them though as nothing else is working.

I've taken today off work - I feel deflated and so low Sad

TTCbabyONE · 29/01/2020 11:30

Happy birthday @Carleyxo hope you have a lovely day and enjoy Durdle Door! 🥳 and congratulations on your Salon making it to final, very exciting x

@slyva123 keeping my fingers crossed that you have a longer cycle. Hope you manage to have your beach walk, it’s a nice day here x

Hi how many cycles have you done? I can’t offer much advise unfortunately as I’m still in my first cycle. Have you had your bloods? @unknownscot X

Finally got my call back after another call this morning, have a scan today at 3pm! I’ll let you know how it goes xx

Carleyxo · 29/01/2020 11:34

Oh @unknownscot I'm so sorry that makes me sad, it's a horrible feeling. I know the clinics hate ovulation tests but personally I still use them, I would get some cheap ones if I were you and just do one each day and see if it comes up as positive then the following month see if there is a pattern.

@TTCbabyONE good luck for the scan! Thank you for the bday wish, unfortunately my husband is poorly so in bed by 9pm up all night and he's feeling very rubbish so still at home but I don't mind because I'm super happy about the awards it's very exciting xx

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 11:43

@TTCbabyONE
Thank you. I've had 4 cycles so far - it's really starting to get to me and so many people in my work are pregnant or on mat leave. It makes it difficult to go into work but I don't want to phone in sick and say I can't face being around pregnant people.

My husband left today to work away for two weeks so that's probably bringing me down too.

I'm fed up!

TTCbabyONE · 29/01/2020 11:49

@unknownscot oh bless you! I completely feel for you, I took a couple of days off as I just needed time away. It can just get on top of you. And of course with your OH going away you’ll be extra emotional.

I had my first reflexology appt last week and felt so chilled after. Also I’m trying to find time to have ‘me time’, big bath, facepack and hair treatment, 15mins yoga or read my book etc. And try to be off my phone which seems to have helped.

Down days are completely normal, tomorrow is new day and hopefully the fog will clear and you’ll feel more positive. Xx

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 12:18

Just phoned to see if there's been any cancellation at the fertility clinic due to my husband being offshore on the date of appt.

Booking office told me that the clinic is currently on hold and all appointments are cancelled.

What the fuck?!

Sylva123 · 29/01/2020 16:00

Wow @unknownscot that's crazy, what do they mean the clinic "on hold". Blimey. Have they said if another clinic can see you? That's so weird. I had a whole palava with my 21 day bloods. If your cycles are 34 days then I'd say you need your 21 bloods done on day 27 (7 days before your period). My cycles are short so my day 21 is way before day 21, if that makes sense. It makes a big difference in terms of your progesterone levels. So you might be ovulating and they're not capturing it cos they're taking the bloods the wrong day!

Happy birthday @Carleyxo!! Hope you've had some nice pressies and a nice day. Sorry your OH is sick but hopefully it's been a nice day at home anyway and you're still flying high on the award news!

@ttcbabyone how was your scan?

@unknownscot I know what you mean about it getting to you. I have good days, but then I have days like today where I'm just so down. I think the progesterone I'm on worsens it, but it's such a deep sadness. I've got 2 more goes before IVF. One of us has got to have some luck surely. X

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 16:19

@Sylva123 @TTCbabyONE

Thanks.
The GP is calling me on Friday morning to discuss the clinic situation as nobody seems to know what's going on.

I've spent today looking up private fertility clinics. There's a good one in Glasgow called GCRM - they have an information evening next week which my sister and mum are going to come to with me.

I hope one of us is successful very soon xx

Sylva123 · 29/01/2020 16:43

Is it a NHS one that's on hold? That's so weird @unknownscot. That's good about the info evening at the private place though. I'd love to know what they say. I need to go to one later in Feb ready for IVF if this hasn't worked

TTCbabyONE · 29/01/2020 16:45

@unknownscot oh god I hope your GP can let you know what’s happening. Hopefully there is another clinic you can go to near to you.

So glad I managed to be seen today, I have a cyst, which is what she thinks is causing the trouble. She said because I didn’t ovulate the follicle is now a cyst. Also she said that’s why I’m so hormonal and bloated etc. The lady needs to speak to a dr tomorrow and is going to phone me to let me know what happens next. xx

@carleyxo hope you’ve managed to enjoy your day. Or can have a day out at the weekend with your OH xx

Sylva123 · 29/01/2020 17:25

Oh gosh @ttcbabyone, I've read about that happening. Does it just pass on it's own eventually? No wonder you're feeling the way you do. I had an endometrial cyst in my ovary that they operated on earlier in the year. I was frightened the op would impact fertility but it doesn't - if that eases any fears. Usually they "watch & wait" and cysts tend to go away naturally from what I understand though, so usually no need for operations at all.

Today I'm really nauseous and craving salty foods. I'm only 6dpo and I've had exactly these symptoms before and wasn't pregnant when I convinced myself I was. I think it's the cyclogest making me feel pregnant. This is all so mean isn't it!

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 17:39

@Sylva123 yeah it's an NHS clinic that's on hold. No one seems to be able to help me until Friday when I talk to the GP. Wish I had the consultants secretary's number to call!

unknownscot · 29/01/2020 17:40

@TTCbabyONE I hope you're feeling okay regarding the cyst.
Have you had cyst before/PCOS or anything?

TTCbabyONE · 29/01/2020 18:02

@Sylva123 the lady wasn’t sure what would happen but I’m hopeful it will just go on it’s won and my period will come.. wishful thinking! That’s good to hear surgery doesn’t effect it, how long was your recovery? I’ve been doing the classic google mad search since I’m left the hospital trying to find out more info. Keeping everything crossed for you! It’s so mean how all these things make us feel symptoms. Would love some good news for one of us on here x

@unknownscot I’ve never had one and I don’t have PCOS so I was shocked when she said I had a cyst. I wasn’t expecting it at all, I think it’s just one of these random things. But annoying as getting in the way of my next cycle 😩.
Not long until you talk to your gp but I know the waiting and wondering is the worst part. Try to take your mind off it altho easier said than done. That’s good that you are going to the private clinic next week. Hopefully will give you some understanding and info of the process xx

LongtermTTC · 29/01/2020 18:24

@TTCbabyONE Sorry to hear you have a cyst but good that you at least now know what’s probably caused the problem. I had a cyst after 2 cycles of letrozole which they also thought was a follicle that didn’t “pop” so I had to take a cycle off the letrozole and it cleared on its own. Not sure how that works with the provera though. Once the cyst is cleared it might be worth speaking to them about whether you would benefit from the trigger shot too - they started me on that this cycle as clearly still wasn’t ovulating hence the “stuck” follicle cyst. I also had negative progesterone tests though which confirmed I wasn’t ovulating, did you have a progesterone test this cycle?

LongtermTTC · 29/01/2020 18:32

@Sylva123 I’m cycle day 19 too but 8 DPO and having some weird symptoms that I’m trying not to overthink but it’s so hard isn’t it! I thought I had a good few days before I started dreading going to the loo but clearly not, have to take a deep breath everytime as could all just be signalling the imminent arrival of AF. Have been pouring over articles about symptoms x DPO and driving myself crazy so trying not to think about it too much - what will be will be.

Had my progesterone test today, good luck with yours tomorrow. How long does it take for you to get your results? Mine seems to take an age and usually AF arrives before the results do! 😂

Fingers crossed for longer cycles for both of us this month (I’m already up on last month by 4 days so hoping to keep going 🤞) x
