Anyone on Letrozole?

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

That’s a good idea, i’ll write down the size and check as I forgot as soon as I walked out the room 🤦🏼‍♀️
They haven’t checked my tubes yet, that will be if the 1st 3 cycles of Letrozole don’t work. The annoying thing I won’t know until May cause of my long cycles then will have to wait for appointments etc. But such is life, I’ll need to be patient.

Let’s hope Letrozole is the one for us!

@Carleyxo The IVF would be through NHS, we get one round where we are. Xx

Talking of hormones have you heard of Dr Jolene Brighten? She wrote a book called Beyond the Pill which I haven't read but Ive heard her on some podcasts & follow her instagram and she posts some useful things about diet and hormone health. She also talks about how hormonal contraceptives can really mess our cycles up.
I had the Mirena Coil for years, it was prescribed to fix my hormone imbalance rather than as a contraceptive & was amazing at the time, but now I realise it was masking a deeper issue with my hormone health.

CD7 today and I forgot to do my opk this morning. Dammit. How you both doing?

Carleyxo · 17/01/2020 09:53

Yes I always forget @TTCbabyONE I just had the nurse call my progesterone was 26.4 and above 20 confirms ovulation. She said if they catch it at the right time as it only stays for 24 hrs apparently.

That's different to how Southampton works they wouldn't prescribe me until they checked my tubes. Fingers crossed it's all ok for you anyway :-) what's the podcast called @Sylva123 x

TTCbabyONE · 17/01/2020 10:16

That’s great news from your ov tests @Carleyxo 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Ahh ok that makes more sense testing your tubes first than trying with meds’ first. It’s weird how different each catchment is.

I’ll definitely take a look at that book - I’ve been looking for one but wasn’t sure where to start. How are you today? @Sylva123

I’ve got reflexology next week! My sister said it’s worth giving it a go and said to look at holistic remedies - how have you found it Carley123? Xx

Sylva123 · 17/01/2020 11:02

@Carleyxo she was a guest on the Jordan Harbinger Show which is a podcast with lots of different speakers. Here's the Spotify link to her episode open.spotify.com/episode/3NZFmVdoOvpI8SvESIRYsp?si=DFrUOfA8SuS7uKKVAd9kDA

Her Instagram is really informative.

That's such great news about your progesterone showing you ovulated! Great to hear back so quickly!

@ttcbabyone hope you enjoy the reflexology! I've been having it for 9 months and loved it, but have had to stop because I can't afford it anymore. I got a lot out of it - I think it's a great thing to do

Carleyxo · 17/01/2020 13:06

You would think that's what they would do first incase they are. I love reflexology I go every other week but will soon do once a month because it is expensive as @Sylva123 said so once she's got to know my feet she said just before ovulation will
Be ok. I love a good holistic approach it's also really relaxing. X

Sylva123 · 17/01/2020 13:48

I love how much my reflexologist knew about Fertility as well. She was always recommending me things and she coukd pick up from my feet if I'm stressed out etc.

I had my scan. She said my lining is nice and thick and I still have two big follicles. Not ovulating yet so she's having me come back on Tuesday and if there's no action by then she'll do the HCG trigger shot. I think I love my doctor now - she's been so good. If this cycle works I'm getting her the most gigantic bouquet of flowers!

TTCbabyONE · 17/01/2020 14:13

@sylva123 That’s fab news about your scan! Sounds like your dr is on the ball which is amazing🤞🏼.

Thanks for the feedback about reflexology, I’m really looking forward to it. I was thinking every other week so I’ll see what she says when I go. Even if it just helps me feel less stressed will be a bonus! Xx

MrsF1989 · 17/01/2020 15:02

Hey everyone,

I had my second follicle tracking appointment today. Turns out I have a swollen/blocked fallopian tube which i am confused about because my hycosy in November said it was all clear. So going to have to have more investigations done. Feeling a bit deflated. I do have two follicles growing nicely (one in each ovary), but not sure how likely it is I'll conceive this month with having a blocked tube. Xx

Sylva123 · 17/01/2020 15:32

Oh @mrsf1989 that's awful - what are the next steps? I don't know much about the tubes. Did they say how much it might impact? Whether it's fully blocked or if things can still pass through?
So sorry - how disappointing

MrsF1989 · 17/01/2020 17:10

@Sylva123 I have to have a follow up appointment with my consultant to find out the details. I did email her and she said fluid can come and go so not to worry. This has made me feel calmer. I dont really know too much, the doctor was very vague and just mentioned surgery, I think as long as you have one working tube, you should be okay just takes longer... but that couple with PCOS is going to make things harder. Meh! Thanks for responding xx

TTCbabyONE · 17/01/2020 18:04

@MrsF1989 hope you get some answers in your follow up appointment.

Hopefully it’s one of those random things that’s there and then disappears. Fingers crossed it won’t get in the way too much for you xx

Carleyxo · 17/01/2020 18:18

Wow @Sylva123 I'm so pleased for you she's on the ball to say the least that's bloody fab and the fact is he two follicles are still big yay! What day are you?

@MrsF1989 I'm so sorry to hear that if it's anything my cousin has blocked tubes and endometriosis and she still got pregnant. Xx

MrsF1989 · 17/01/2020 22:15

Thank you... The body can do amazing things, so I'm still hopeful. She also said I have two good sized follicles, which is good news, I think.

@Sylva123 fingers crossed for you, this all sounds super positive 😁 xxx

Carleyxo · 17/01/2020 22:20

That's definitely a good sign, all fingers crossed for you. Is this first or second cycle for you @MrsF1989 x

MrsF1989 · 18/01/2020 06:50

First round 😊. But I'm going to have to pause at the end of this cycle until they've figured out what is going on with my tube! Xx

Sylva123 · 18/01/2020 09:45

Weird things are happening with my opks again. Started testing on day 5 cos I ovulated early last time. Had a line on the cheapies that was getting darker each day, until today (cd8) when it's totally blank but the Clearblue digital has a flashing smiley. This is exactly what happened last month - flashing smiley on Clearblue, blank on the cheapies.
I guess I should ignore them and just go with what they're seeing on the scan because at least they've seen the follicles, right?

@mrsf1989 good to hear that your consultant says the fluid can come and go. I hope it clears naturally so you don't have to pause treatment for too long. Tubes + pcos is a lot to think about, but as you say - the body can do amazing things and so can science & medicine so keeping it all crossed for you.

@Carleyxo is it your birthday this weekend? X

Carleyxo · 18/01/2020 11:25

That's so bizarre @Sylva123 yes definitely the follicles are there the scan won't lie so that's reassuring, goes to show tests aren't super accurate. What size were your follicles do you know? When's your next scan, Tuesday? My bday isn't until the 29th but the next two weekends are full with nice things :-) I have plans the next few days which is nice then period due Wednesday. I'm so worried how I'll feel as SIL due to come round Wednesday and that's when period is due :-( x

Sylva123 · 18/01/2020 12:06

@Carleyxo was it your SIL who was being a bit insensitive before or was that someone else?
It's hard isn't it... I always try to keep that day free but this month I'll be on a family day out when it's due. We can't help but get nervous about it can we.

Yeah next scan is Tuesday and I didn't actually ask the size but she said they were big and ov due over the next couple of days. She said start dtd today (but I already started back on Tuesday!). At least I'm going back in a few days so I'll tell her what the weird opks are saying. Maybe letrozole confuses them? Who knows.

Not long til your birthday now then! Hope you enjoy the build up & I'll be thinking of you Wednesday. Let us know how it goes x

Carleyxo · 18/01/2020 23:36

Yes it was her and I know I may sound mean but she's seeming very dramatic so Xmas eve she was rubbing her belly (she was 7 weeks) and they were very much aware of "oh don't lean that on your belly you're not allowed" etc kind of people.

I'm the same I feel so nervous but that's such a good idea keeping it free, what about work?

Amazing I hope they're gone on Tuesday meaning you've ovulated! It could well do it's interesting isn't it I wonder if my positive wasn't real the beginning of the month?

Aww thank you so much I'm trying to look forward to it @Sylva123 x

Carleyxo · 19/01/2020 19:59

So I'm sure that's me out this month pre period signs have begun and cramps in tummy. Having a quiet night with a nice hot bath. Hope you're all ok xx

TTCbabyONE · 19/01/2020 21:37

Hi @Carleyxo sorry to hear that, had everything crossed for you. I hope you’re feeling ok xx

Sylva123 · 19/01/2020 22:15

Oh no @Carleyxo, I'm so sorry to read that. I hope it's not the case, but glad you've been kind to yourself this evening. Sunday's are made for that. How are you going to look after yourself this week? I hope you can have some time to look after yourself and (if it is AF) give yourself some time to feel sad about the cycle a bit and get yourself psyched up and ready for the next one.

Yeah you're right about it being hard to keep free when you've got work. I'm lucky that I work from home most of the time, but when I go to the office or go to meetings I'm usually busy enough to keep my mind off it and for some reason at work I'm able to put the mask on and be smiley. Recently I've been canceling meetings left right and centre though, either because of hospital appts or because I've come on and am feeling crappy.

Im sure your positive was real - I think it must be me. I've googled it and letrozole shouldnt impact on the opks.

I'm so sorry to read about your SIL. It doesn't make any of it easier when you've got to be around that. It's hard not to feel like it's really unfair.

I hope it's a false alarm and not AF... Let us know.

I've gone on a massive walk today so am knackered. Feeling calm about things one minute and all emotional the next. Saw a clip of some fertlity thing on This Morning which set me off a bit. We'll get there tho won't we xx

Carleyxo · 19/01/2020 22:21

Thanks @TTCbabyONE I feel ok now just can't wait for the cramps to go, thanks for asking.

Gosh @Sylva123 you're like a breath of fresh air your words always uplift me thank you so much.

It's definitely AF and I did a test just incase. The cramps are much more intense than usual they've kicked in more after the bath. I got a bit grumpy tonight and was supposed to be going round the parents In laws for Sunday dinner but fell asleep and got grumpy when I woke up as we had to leave right now so told OH to go on his own. I think my mind knew it was coming then hour later it made its appearance. The meditations you recommended have been sending me right to sleep I love them! Definitely going to gear up for this month and I hope your right about the CB test but I actually bid on a monitor on eBay and won it for £40 with postage and some new tests so that'll be good to try as lots of people recommend that don't they? X
