Hi everyone

I’m creating a new thread with the hope of finding people with similar dates to me. I am due to start medication on May 13th with the hope egg collection will be June 19th. I’m 34, female factor fertility.

Anyone else out there with similar dates?

Hello all! Feel like I’m not on this thread enough to keep up with everyone’s news!

@Mrbay great news that your period has finally arrived. Mine started today too, although I’m on a short protocol so start injections today.

Talking of injections, I have been told to do the menopur in the evening - does it matter what time? I work late every Monday, so won’t get home until 9. Is that too late to do them? Or should I just do the monday one at work and do them earlier in the evening?

RRoonilWazlib · 19/06/2019 16:16

Anyone else have side effects from progynova?

Progynova can kiss my ass SadEnvy

Welshpugmomma · 19/06/2019 17:47

Lots of posts to catch up on! Weather is blooming awful everywhere at the moment come on sunshine make us all feel better Grin

@aliciawhiskers don't think it matters what time do long as you get in a routine, they told me it had to be the same time every night once you start (more important than the burserlin for timing) if I wanted to do at midnight they said that was fine but should carry on then at that time! Every clinic send to vary so may be worth asking yours x

KittyKatSmile · 19/06/2019 18:04

@AliciaWhiskers as @Welshpugmomma says, I think as long as you do them within about an hour every night it's fine. I did mine around 10-10.30pm.

Cauliflower82 · 19/06/2019 19:40

@Zest11 totally the same 😂. I’m hoping to take a week off after egg collection - it’ll really just depend on how I feel? How about yourself? Tbh I almost didn’t go in to work today - I’m feeling so uncomfortable and bloated.

OP posts:
Cauliflower82 · 19/06/2019 19:44

@Mrbay one of my very good male friends had ivf with his wife and it didn’t result in a live birth. Such a tragic story, but him and his wife are both incredibly helpful and supportive. Although it must be said that they did already have one child from ivf but the next attempts were not successful. They are at peace with their family now :).

@AliciaWhiskers I do mine at half 7 if it helps. It’s supposed to be half 7, sometimes I fanny on for five to ten mins.

OP posts:
glitterbugsparkles · 19/06/2019 19:51

@AliciaWhiskers my clinic advised between 9-10pm but think advice seems to differs slightly.
@Zest11 I too was totally terrified I'd ovulate early, especially after I screwed up one of the injections (it went into a lump, don't think the needle went in far enough!) but reassuringly it was all fine.
@KittyKatSmile that's so lovely your mums looking after you. Hoping a relaxing week is doing you the world of good
@Mrbay great news you can now see the start in sight. Your body might just surprise you so keep hoping and that positive thinking

Zest11 · 19/06/2019 20:23

@Cauliflower82 yes similar, will just see how I feel. Work have been incredibly okay with everything thankfully and they actually recommended I have the 2ww off if I wanted! But I however, could go insane!! Sorry the bloating is uncomfortable, do you find it worse later in the day? I really wanted to go home today as I just felt so shattered but didn't. Are you finding the meds are causing you to be...urmm..ahemm...gassy? Lol. My husband is like Shock

Mrbay that's great that your period has come and you can get things moving! So ironic that a period brings us this much delight...I was the same! And AliciaWhiskers that's great you can start too :)

glitterbugsparkles thank you for that, that is definitely reassuring! So sorry it's hard to keep ...what stage are you at?

Cauliflower82 · 19/06/2019 20:28

@zest11 YES, so gassy and other unfortunates too. TMI but I’m always going to the toilet. I’m finding that on a morning I feel pretty good but by lunch, I’m totally fed up. What is your job again? I’m a teacher so don’t think I’d get two weeks off unless I had a sick note.

OP posts:
Zest11 · 19/06/2019 20:46

I'm a teacher too Cauliflower82 and yes by around lunch I'm really uncomfortable. Also, it's not as if we can pop out part way through the lesson to relieve ourselves. By the end of the day I'm so uncomfortable from holding everything in as I don't want the kids to think I have a fart problem!! Blush I was very surprised they said I could have the tww off. I think someone else at my place has been through this as HR said "the last person to go through this had to have 2 weeks off and that's okay." I feel like if a precedent has been set I should take it as the next person after me may need that time. But equally I have no idea how many rounds I'll need so don't want to take advantage and I will probably drive myself mad waiting around! What time is your scan tomorrow? Mine's bright and early, 8am.

Mrbay · 19/06/2019 21:05

@glitterbugsparkles, @Cauliflower82 @zest11 and @AliciaWhiskers - thank you! Years of dreading the bloody thing and today I did a little dance after I saw it arrived. Thank God for individual loos! No one wants to see anyone doing a little dance with their knickers around their ankles!
@zest11 and @califlower82, glad I'm not the only bloated gassy one!!
In terms of leave, my work give you a week paid time off for IVF to use as you need - I'm so lucky! So I plan to take the day for EC and WFH the next day and then take 5-days for ET and for resting up afterwards (or sneaking off to ride the horse!)
Thanks @Cauliflower82, I think I may get the DH to message them beforehand so they get the heads up.
Oh, I've been invited to a baby shower, do I go??!

Cauliflower82 · 19/06/2019 21:44

@mrbay not if you don’t want to, absolutely not. Don’t do anything that’ll cause any upset al all. They’ll understand and if they don’t then they’re not worth your time.
Maybe you could just give them the heads up. Have they decided not to pursue fertility treatments any further? I am a bit gutted I haven’t been offered two weeks off. I would 100% definitely take it. How are you feeling about egg collection looming? It fecking terrifies me to the core. I don’t even think I’ve fully registered that I’m doing ivf yet.

@Zest11 take the full two weeks - you just. Like you said, it sets the precedent. Mine is 9.10. Let me know how it goes and I’ll do the same.

Morning all, I was on here a while back but couldn’t keep up with how quick the thread was going so I hope you don’t mind me jumping on and asking any of you lovely ladies that have had et a question? I had et on Monday it was a five day transfer! Yesterday I had some brownish discharge and was quite crampy and the same this morning I know it can happen jist freaking out a bit any one else feeling like this aswell?

Thank you!

Zest11 · 20/06/2019 09:41

Welcome back @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF sorry can't help with your question though.

Had my 7 day stims scan today and actually feel sick and close to tears. One of my ovaries has responded really well. But with the other, literally no response, nothing. The nurse said they "don't normally get such extremes." Everything is still good to go for EC next week but I just feel sick that we're not going to get many eggs. I know it only takes 1 but I wanted some for the freezer as this is our only NHS attempt. God knows what the quality are like of the ones I do have. Been googling "1 ovary not working" and it's come up with "premature ovarian failure." I'm 31.

Mrbay · 20/06/2019 09:59

@califlower82 - I keep flicking from wanting to go and then not - the group hasn't really been supportive in the past few months. I have kinda been avoiding them as every time we meet up its the same conversation pretty much and I am bored of it!!
Good idea about giving them the heads up :)

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF - great to have you back and congratulations on getting to ET with a 5-day! Sorry I cannot help you with your question as I am a few weeks away from EC and ET.

@zest11 - but you do have a further 3--days so it may switch on or the other may go into overdrive - you want quality over quantity. Everything is crossed for you.

@Cauliflower82 - have you had a scan today? How is everything progressing?

AliciaWhiskers · 20/06/2019 10:01

@zest11, sorry you are feeling so worried. Can you speak to someone at your clinic and ask what they think is going on? Try and keep away from google if you can, it’s much better to try and speak to a doctor about it than google yourself into a panic (far easier said than done - we’ve all done it). As you said, it does only take one egg, so fingers crossed for the ovary that has responded. Flowers

Hi @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF. I don’t know the answer to your question either, sorry. Hope all goes well and the 2ww isn’t too awful!

KittyKatSmile · 20/06/2019 10:01

@Zest11 mine were the same pretty much, I think maybe one came from the right, possibly two but everything else from the left (and from memory you and I are in the same numbers bucket). Please try not to upset yourself lovely, especially if the other one has responded really well x

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF sounds like implantation bleeding no? So a good sign. I had ET on Monday too, I'd be pretty happy if I had that.

glitterbugsparkles · 20/06/2019 11:17

@Zest11 please do not worry, like you I had 1 respond and the other one (my right) only had 1. Even tho at day 9 scan it was really disappointing, day 11 with only 1 in zone and 2 maybes by collection day 14 I came out with 8, and ended up with 3 fertilised. Please do not worry, you've responded and there will be eggs. Keep going xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 20/06/2019 12:07

Thankyou for the welcome back! @zest11 @Mrbay

@zest11 sorry your scan didn’t go as well as you hoped! Did they say how many you had on the one that did?

@KittyKatSmile I am hoping it is but its such a worrying time! When is your test day?

KittyKatSmile · 20/06/2019 12:37

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I think it's next Friday. What about yours?

Is anyone else on prednisolone? I am having such an awful time (not) sleeping. I finally fell asleep last night just before 7am, then my alarm went off at 7am to take my first oestrogen of the day. Argh. This is fine this week as I'm on holiday but I'm slightly worried for next week. Wahhhh.

Cauliflower82 · 20/06/2019 12:43

@finallytakingtheplungewithivf I’ve been thinking of you recently. I hope all is okay. Keep us updated.

@Zest11 I’m really sorry the scan didn’t go as you wanted, I’m so sorry. How is the ovary looking that’s responding well? When are you going in next?

@Mrbay I totally get what you mean. Sometimes we just need a break.

My scan went pretty well this morning. Lining looking good and lots of follicles. Sorry @zest11 I feel like bloody crystal82 right now 😡. They’re a bit concerned about over responding so they’re going to call me this afternoon possibly to bring egg collection forward from Wednesday. It’s probably the reason I’m feeling so uncomfortable. I’ve got a few biggies, 13 to 14mm or whatever and loads of small ones, about 7 or 8 so I’m not sure if those little ones will get big enough.

OP posts:
KittyKatSmile · 20/06/2019 13:33

@Cauliflower82 (crystalflower82?) that's great news and brilliant if you get brought forward. Really happy for you lovely lady.

Zest11 · 20/06/2019 14:01

Thank you girls for your replies and reassurances. So nice of you to share positivity, I know what you are saying is right. I just can't help but think of this dead/rotting ovary hanging around my body contaminating everything else. So crazy I know.

@AliciaWhiskers I can't help but google but I know it's so pointless. It only feeds my anxiety but I guess I am just looking for answers as we are unexplained.

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF and @Cauliflower82 the right side is doing great. Don't want to talk specifics as @KittyKatSmile said a while back about jinxing things. They are going to up my dose of the stimms for the last few days just to give some of the smaller ones a chance to catch up! They said they wouldn't normally increase with my numbers but because absolutely nothing is going on in the left they will.

@KittyKatSmile thank you so much for your comment, that is quite reassuring. And hopefully yes we are still in the same egg bracket. I guess I will have to see on EC day how many follicles actually have eggs and if the smaller ones can catch up. Are you having a nice time away? Has it stopped raining?

@glitterbugsparkles thank you for your reply, that's interesting regarding how things develop It does look like not too much can be drawn from this stage.

@Cauliflower82 please DO NOT think of yourself as that Crystal girl! I am so glad for you that your scan went well today especially as you had to down reg for longer! I did also think from your symptoms you could be overresponding so that's great EC may be brought forward. My next scan is Monday...let us know what happens with yours and EC!

@Mrbay so sorry I didn't see your point about baby shower. Personally I wouldn't go because I just can't face things like that right now. Not seen a couple of my pregnant friends for quite a few months and to be honest, I'm happier for it. But, if you want to go and think you will enjoy yourself - do...

Welshpugmomma · 20/06/2019 17:00

Hi all, yay we have a bit of sunshine today woop, and I hear the weekends meant to be bright!
@Mrbay what protocol are you on, not long now for stims Also (sex front) I'm pretty sure my DH was completly put off by the clinic/jabs/general lack of sexiness surrounding IVF,ah well it's going to be a few months now before any shananigans!
I'm lucky I don't have many babies around plus I'm not really massively maternal, so only you can make the call re. Baby shower!
@Zest11 so long as they are there- it doesn't matter where they are coming from!they also told me my right was less active and not as many!
@cauliflower82 all sounds good on the scan numbers similar to me on weds. After I messaged the other day I started getting bloated,I'm now feeling so uncomfortable but I suppose its just everything getting bigger- going wee is sooo uncomfortable especially as trying to drink lots of water...
@KittyKatSmile Portugal treating you well?
I
have another scan tomorrow and likely my egg collection will be on Monday, getting nervous about that now,I bought a nightie today in prep! No idea how you ladies are managing to work whilst going through this, good to hear employers are being quite understanding though!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 20/06/2019 17:04

@KittyKatSmile mine is wed I am having a blood test are you?

@Cauliflower82 awww thanks all is ok I think waiting for a call back from the clinic just to make sure I don’t need to up the progesterone because of the spotting but looks like I’ll have to wait till tomorrow! I have been reading the thread and you’ve had a bit of a long journey but you always seem so upbeat about it all!
