IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

@Marmite83 it's DHs birthday on Sunday (and BIL) so busy weekend for me! I'm off to a cat cafe for bingo tonight though, very excited!! Then casino and a meal tomorrow. I'll be happy for the distractions before ET on Monday.

What have you got planned?

They'll explain a lot to you, I can't think of anything you'll need to ask. What's this appointment for?

Viletta · 12/04/2019 13:58

@Lucindaa good luck!! All good news!

janey15 · 12/04/2019 16:55

Afternoon all,

I'm sorry I can't seem to keep track of all of your progress but good luck to those at important stages and waiting for news!

Our meds were delivered today and it made me feel a bit sad as I'd so hoped never to have to do all this again! I'm so desperate to be pregnant again and really feeling the pressure and fear of disappointment. If this cycle fails then we'll be on to ivf Confused

Take care everyone x

Marmite83 · 12/04/2019 17:24

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down @Janey15, I guess it's to be expected and receiving the meds must make it all very real. Fingers crossed you won't need them!

Sounds like a good weekend @DaisyMay25. I have absolutely nothing planned which is actually quite nice. The appointment is my initial consultation to confirm they'll take me on as a patient. They do a scan and ask loads of questions. Assuming all goes ok then I can book my treatment plan so the meds can be sorted ready for when AF arrives in a couple of weeks (I am of course hoping that AF doesn't arrive at all!). I just know I'll leave the appointment and then think of loads of questions...

mumsey2be · 13/04/2019 08:05

Hi everyone, getting there aren't we?

I had to go for a scan today - in Salzburg, where i have been for the last two days. My lining is a bit thin - 5.8 when they want it at least 6-8 so they have upped my meds even more so i will be 50% madder tomorrow morning! I got a bit weepy talking to the doctor, it's so hard being here and not knowing how it will go isn't it?

Spoke to the clinic who now want me to have another scan on Monday - so have asked my PA to find me a clinic in Slovenia - where i am on holiday at a spa. Then we go for donor embryo deposit a week tomorrow - which feels so far away and in between i have to start sticking 6 pessaries in every day! :( My husband and i have a little song we sing when they go in, to the tune of Bassa me mucho - Which we have changed to Pessary - Me - Mucho.

Here we go again.

How is everyone else feeling? At least i am at a spa for the weekend!

LillyLeaf · 13/04/2019 08:40

@mumsey2be so jealous about the spa, I would bloody love that right now. 6 pessaries! God 2 was enough for me. I tempted to getting a facial, maybe next weekend.

@janey15 I remember the first time getting my meds, it felt all so real and scary, but it's really not that bad and it's one step closer to getting what you want.

I'm still waiting for AF. I've had some random cramps over the last few days so hopefully it's on its way. On day 9 of Buserelin shots and only one little bruise so far, I think I'm a pro at this.

janey15 · 13/04/2019 08:44

Thank you @LillyLeaf - this is our 6th medicated iui so I'm feeling rather fed up! I thought when we had a bfp in December that we wouldn't have to go through all this again...

DaisyMay25 · 13/04/2019 09:59

@mumsey2be 6?! My gosh, you poor thing!! I only have one and that's enough. Enjoy your spa weekend!

@LillyLeaf hopefully AF shows up soon! How are the side effects?

@janey15 I hope you don't have to go to ivf, I hope you can get started with this cycle soon

Viletta · 13/04/2019 10:48

@mumsey2be haha, I love the song! I'm having 8 pessaries (utrogestan), 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening. I did feel a bit high the first day but now back to normal. Enjoy the spa break and try to relax x

mumsey2be · 13/04/2019 16:54

@daisymay83 how was the cat cafe? Love a cat cafe - note to those in Prague - there are FIVE cat cafe's there. Do enjoy!

@viletta - sheesh even worse than me - where are we going to accommodate them all is what i want to know?

@lilyleaf - go on, treat yourself!

@janey15 I hear you - we got pregnant on first IUI but missed miscarriage :( It is so frustrating isn't it - all the faff. I think it's the level radical uncertainty that is the most exhausting bit. You just never know - hopefully this will be your month. Everything crossed for you x

Bump2be · 13/04/2019 22:50

Hello - we're starting ICSI in a few weeks, just got my period so day 21 to start my injections isn't far away now. If you've been through it before and took a sick note for time off between implantation and the pregnancy test, if you don't mind me asking, what did your sick note say? I'll probably be able to reduce my commitments at work for a few weeks without it being too obvious to others but I might consider the time off as my job is stressful, although not if the sick note is blatant.

crazyfools · 14/04/2019 07:22

Hi all so I joined this group a couple of weeks back expecting to be gearing up for a second FET however this weekend (by some miracle!) we have managed to conceive naturally! I'm in complete shock! Not getting my hopes up too much as have had several recurrent miscarriages and my last pregnancy two years ago was an ectopic which ruptured - feeling very overwhelmed and scared! 😬

Marmite83 · 14/04/2019 08:46

Got everything crossed for you @crazyfools

DaisyMay25 · 14/04/2019 09:06

@mumsey2be the cat cafe was great, they had two tiny Siamese twins, who were very very naughty!! Cute though!
How's the spa? Good luck for your scan tomorrow!!

DaisyMay25 · 14/04/2019 09:09

@Lucindaa best of luck for today!!

Anyone else having ET soon? Mines booked for tomorrow

Viletta · 14/04/2019 10:18

@DaisyMay25 my ET is tomorrow as well:) can't wait!

Viletta · 14/04/2019 10:21

@crazyfools that's fantastic news! Congratulations!! Don't stress and let things go and wait for the scan. You can have a blood test to see how hcg is progressing

crazyfools · 14/04/2019 10:33

Thanks @Viletta I did think about it but a friend of mine had perfectly rising hcg and miscarriages at 7 weeks and my ectopic had textbook hcg rises so think just going to have to try and hold it together until a scan at 6 weeks

If anyone is wondering I had bad egg quality when they did my egg collection in January - also Low AMH for my age. I've been taking Proceive Max supplements for 2 months, 200mg coq10 and drinking organic full fat milk- I also did fertility acupuncture this month. (All in preparation to go for another full ivf cycle after this next FET)

DaisyMay25 · 14/04/2019 11:19

@Viletta good luck!! When's your test date? It's gonna take all my will power to not test before

Deeny83 · 14/04/2019 13:10

@Daisymay25 i had my ET today, it was all good, at home now keeping my feet warm. I had accupuncture before and after so hoping that will have helped too. The only thing thats uncomfortable is the full bladder bit, but its not unbareable or anything. I have 4 frozen embryos too, so delighted with that.

Best of luck tomorrow and to you too Viletta xx

Deeny83 · 14/04/2019 13:13

@crazyfools Congratulations, thats amazing news, fingers crossed for you!

Todey84 · 14/04/2019 15:06

That's great news @Deeny83. Glad it went so well. Plenty of rest now. Wishing u lots of good luck. xx

Deeny83 · 14/04/2019 15:51

Thanks Todey84, hope your injections are going well x

mumsey2be · 14/04/2019 16:43

@deeny83 that's exciting - wishing you lots of luck!

@crazyfools woah that is amazing! got everything crossed for you. My good friend who had a lot of recurrent miscarriages was told to eliminate carbs from her diet to keep insulin as low as possible - who knows if these things help but i wanted to pass it on as she is 8 months now after 10 miscarriages. xx

LillyLeaf · 14/04/2019 16:59

@DaisyMay25 @Viletta good luck with your transfers tomorrow, I found it very surreal, like I was watching it happen to someone else.

@crazyfools that's amazing, everything crossed for you.

@Deeny83 so exciting. Hopefully you can keep your mind occupied over the next week or so.

My AF still hasn't started, only a tiny bit of (tmi) brown/pink tinged cm, I'm trying not to be annoyed. I so desperately want to get started. Transfer will be the 2nd week in May or even later if it doesn't start. Buserelin is still making my tired.
