IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

Shame on me.

mumsey2be · 10/04/2019 23:13

Todey84 · 11/04/2019 07:21

Got a call yesterday from clinic, out of the 15 eggs collected, 12 were mature and 8 of these fertilised, they'll ring me tomorrow to confirm how things are going and hopefully to book me in for transfer on sunday.

Viletta · 11/04/2019 09:27

@Lucindaa great news!!!

@RedPandaFluff congratulations on your ET! How are you planning to test? Hcg bloodwork or home test?

DaisyMay25 · 11/04/2019 09:36

Todey84 · 11/04/2019 10:01

@DaisyMay25 Great news. Such a great result. U must be over the moon. 😊 Good luck for Monday. xx

My baseline actually went well....So relieved. All ok so i can start on the Menopur tonight. 😁 Had 11 follicles one side and 9 on the other. Had 5 on each previously, so was surprised that there were a lot more.

DaisyMay25 · 11/04/2019 10:05

@Todey84 hopefully it means I have some to freeze too!

That's great news about the scan! Fingers crossed you get some nicely growing follicles on your next scan

Todey84 · 11/04/2019 10:10

@DaisyMay25 Thank you. Yes, sure u will have quite a few frosties. Perfect result.

Deeny83 · 11/04/2019 10:50

Thats great news @daisymay25 im sure you will have a a few left over to freeze!

@Todey84 brilliant your scan went well and you can get started

Marmite83 · 11/04/2019 10:56

@orangefolly so sorry to hear about your cat. My pup helped me through my miscarriage so I can only imagine how devastated you are. Sounds like it was the best thing for her though.

@FlipKat it sounds like we're on a similar timeline. I'm also going for mild IVF and AF is due in about two weeks. I'm also hoping AF doesn't turn up at all but at least we should be ready to go if it does.

Good luck for the scan tomorrow @Lucindaa

Marmite83 · 11/04/2019 11:05

Sorry think I was looking at an older page, trying to catch up on all the posts. You're all truly inspirational!

@Lucindaa Great news about the eggs, good luck for the transfer!

@Flipkat you're about a week ahead of me I think, if AF does appear you'll have to let me know how you get on with the mild IVF.

Great news @DaisyMay25

mumsey2be · 11/04/2019 11:38

Got to go for a scan tomorrow to check lining is growing ok. The hysteria of the meds seems to be finally calming down a little bit, thank God. I was a nightmare.

@daisymay25 that's so great. Having some to freeze makes the whole thing less stressful. We went round 3 times with just 2 eggs each time and nothing to transfer, let alone freeze so really pleased for you.

Viletta · 11/04/2019 11:54

@mumsey2be glad you are feeling calmer. I found mindful IVF app helped me at time. Also listening to John Kehoe and Tony Robins on YouTube about staying positive and making your wishes come true.

orangefolly · 11/04/2019 12:25

Thank you @marmite83 I have mainly been moping and mourning her loss the last couple of weeks. She was such a wonderful friend. DH and I have decided to get a new rescue cat to join our family because the house is so quiet without her.

I'm still waiting on AF then we can get kicked off with baseline scan. Should be any day now.

Have any of you had blood clotting disorders diagnosed? I got my tests back and was too high on Fibrinogen, plus borderline too fast on clotting time and one other (PTT I think?) Not sure what it means yet as still waiting for consultant to get in touch.

Ahhhh lovely to come on and read positive news!

Speaking of mindfulness, has anyone tried the Zita West relaxation CD? I bought it when I was feeling tetchy and, in spite of my scepticism about this kind of thing, it helped. There's a relaxation session for before and after your embryo transfer.

I don't know how it compares to other relaxation aids but I tend to fall asleep during it, which is frankly quite pleasant Smile

mumsey2be · 11/04/2019 16:40

@orangefolly I really hear you. Losing a kitty friend is devastating. However, when you are ready, a new kitty friend does really help a lot. They are such loving beings - i dont know what i would do without Fat Brian.

mumsey2be · 11/04/2019 16:42

@orangefolly - got him after my darling Casper was run over. I cried solid for 6 weeks and then he turned up. And life got better. Big hug to you both.

I shall try out some mindfulness - i used to have a very good meditation practice but got a bit slack.

RedPandaFluff · 11/04/2019 17:28

Oh god! @orangefolly I'm so sorry! My post about reading good news must have seemed so crass . . . I somehow missed that you lost your cat. That's so sad, I'm really sorry 💐

LillyLeaf · 11/04/2019 19:30

Great news about all the lovely eggs being fertilised. Very exciting that transfers will be so soon.

I think the Buserelin in making me nauseous, bloated and tired, I just want to get into bed now.

orangefolly · 12/04/2019 09:22

Aww he's beautiful @Mumsey2be

Don't worry @redpandafluff - I saw we crossed posts! Smile Also, my acupuncturist used the Zita West CD for my last cycle - I thought it was quite good. Still not sure if I'm going to do acupuncture again though. How are you finding the 2WW?

It's great to see ECs are happening! Good luck to everyone who has transfers coming up. I feel like I'm in denial that my cycle is about to start!

Day 3 - Update

3 eggs cell division at 8
2 eggs slow progression

So I'm booked in for Sunday ET!! With blood test also booked for 23rd Apr after bank holiday weekend (Crumbs).

@orangefolly sorry to hear the news about your cat x

@Deeny83 I wish you all the luck for Sunday!!

@DaisyMay25 any news on your egg progression?

@Viletta love this app!!

@LillyLeaf my only advice is keep hydrated, drink loads of water and rest! I literally came home from work and just got into my PJ's and let DH do all the cooking and cleaning!

Lu x

DaisyMay25 · 12/04/2019 12:01

@Lucindaa sounds like they're coming along nicely! I don't get daily updates from my clinic, they don't like to disturb them. I'm booked in for Monday if it goes ahead.
Been to my clinic for blood tests this morning and given blood thinners, I think they're debating a freeze all at the minute but only if I feel worse or my kidneys look like they're shutting down.

My DH does everything too atm, tbf we clog through a lot! I think he feels bad that I stopped injections after Monday and was so happy just to have to do blood thinning injections for two weeks now.

So I won't feel bad, we all deserve to do as little as possible during this

Marmite83 · 12/04/2019 12:10

Happy Friday everyone! Does anyone have anything nice planned for the weekend?

That sounds positive @Lucindaa, good luck for Sunday!

I have my initial consultation on Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions of things I should ask/check? I've done quite a lot of research into the clinic and the process but still feel there's a lot I won't know until I've had my treatment plan confirmed.

Deeny83 · 12/04/2019 12:13

Thanks @Lucindaa, best of luck to you too. I got my update today too and the go ahead for sunday, excited and nervous at the same time
