IVF / ICSI in April / May

Hi all, I'm starting a thread for anyone expecting to start a new IVF cycle in April or May. I've been keeping an eye out for one, but realised I could just start it myself!

I'm 37 and about to start my second stimming cycle. I've had two FETs from my last cycle, both of which sadly ended in miscarriage, so we'll be PGS testing this batch if we hopefully get some good enough to test and freeze. On higher doses this time around, so a bit worried about side effects. Found it fine last time though (except the interminable waiting).

Anyway, please come and introduce yourself if you're in a similar boat Smile

Well after my moaning rant yesterday I had very painful cramps during the night (haven't had much sleep) and AF finally can this morning so I've booked my baseline scan tomorrow morning. I really hope everything will look good and I can start with the patches. Hope you're all getting on ok.

LeanneMFord · 17/04/2019 09:09

@LillyLeaf I no what you mean about the buserelin I'm doing a frozen cycle and have to do 43days of injections Confused it's hard going isn't it! X

LillyLeaf · 17/04/2019 09:16

@LeanneMFord wow that is a lot of Buserelin, I feel bad complaining now. I'm doing a frozen transfer too. We have 4 left after a MC from our first cycle. Looks like transfer could be about the 7th May if all goes to plan.

LeanneMFord · 17/04/2019 09:25

@LillyLeaf don't be silly I think buserelin is the worst. I have a scan for my lining on the 25th and then hopefully transfer on the 30th. We are putting 2 back in this time. X

mumsey2be · 17/04/2019 10:52

Hello everyone, welcome to the new arrivals and hello to all of us hanging in there. I have 3 more days till donor ET. Can't wait for it to be done. The steroids are causing a pound pile up which is not good as i wasn't that slim to begin with. Also getting very tired but a bit less hysterical. I found someone to give me a scan here in Slovenia and i have the 3 lines in my endo so the clinic were happy with that. How is everyone today?

FingersXssd83 · 17/04/2019 10:56

Thanks everyone, I took your advice and scoffed loads of naughty food. It was great 😋

Our cycle has taken another turn. The consultant called first thing and advised that we should do a day 3 freeze all so they can rescan me in a month and treat the suspected endo if needed. Our dr said that if my body is inflamed from the protocol then it and needs to calm first. He also said that if we transferred fresh on Sat then we might worry that we did the wrong thing. I know his advice is right but I'm gutted I won't be able to transfer. Also gutted that it's looking like I have a more advanced endo, our cycle is dragged out, our prognosis is not as good and I'm joining @Marmite83 @orangefolly in the never ending IVF club!

Going to ask if we an still transfer fresh any embryos that might not be good enough to freeze this week and see what they say.

Glad AF has arrived for you @LillyLeaf, hope you're feeling better today 😊

LillyLeaf · 17/04/2019 11:26

@mumsey2be so exciting the transfer will be so soon.

@FingersXssd83 that is incredibly frustrating, so sorry. Can you endo get worse if an embryo implants?

I do feel a bit better today although I do have a cracking headache, probably from the Buserelin. I'll feel better once I know the baseline is good. My first cycle attempt was cancelled at the baseline scan so I'm a bit nervous about them.

Lucindaa · 17/04/2019 13:51

@DaisyMay25 this week is an absolute killer isn't it!

@mumsey2be My husband says exactly the same thing, he has even started talking to my tummy :-) All my love for this saturday x

@FingersXssd83 good to have some explanation but I hope this cycle is the one for you. Good news with the EC. I would say treat yourself, healthy mind, healthy body!!

@Todey84 thank you, I've tried not to read too much into it now given the encouragement on this thread its just playing on my mind just adds to the anxiety!

@orangefolly I'm sorry you are delayed, I know how difficult it is to gear yourself up then because of things not even in your control it gets messed up!! x

@Deeny83 I'm pregnant until Tuesday when a that one blood test could potentially change our lives!!! Yaay x

@Marmite83 Thank you!! x That is so annoying and I know exactly what you mean. Its big business and I'll be honest this 1 round is costing us about 1.3k more than what the cost we were quoted which would have made the other clinic we were looking at cheaper! Deep breath...... x

@phreedam This is the time to look after yourself, I was in your shoes just over a month ago..... x

@LillyLeaf I hope your scan is positive! x

My symptoms are lower backache, being super tired and a bit of cramping which lasted a few minutes on Tuesday! Also something strange has now happened the past 2 nights, I've woken up in a sweat! Like literally my chest is soaking and I have a river between my breasts......could be the pessaries I'm taking no idea!

Lu x

DaisyMay25 · 17/04/2019 13:55

@Lucindaa it's awful! I've still got 8 days to go!! I just like at the ultrasound of the embryo now and again to channel positive thoughts! How're you coping?

kels290700 · 17/04/2019 15:38

I am currently on day 10 of 2 fresh embryo transfer and have felt no different apart from mild cramping days 7,8 & 9 that came and went. Around this time I also developed cold like symptoms, blocked nose, cough etc. Today day 10 I have had no cramping and feel as though my cold is going. My period was due 3 days ago and my test date is in 2 days, I'm driving myself nuts by scrolling through the internet!!

Has anyone one else had no symptoms and a cold and still had a positive test?

Marmite83 · 17/04/2019 16:32

@kels290700 I didn't have any symptoms when I got my bfp with my daughter. Wasn't long after that I started getting sore boobs though. I'm impressed you haven't poas yet, think I would have! Good luck

Deeny83 · 17/04/2019 16:47

@fingersXssd83 glad you enjoyed your meal :-) sorry to hear about your delay but it sounds like the right thing to do and you're going to have the best chance at a positive outcome!

@mumsey2b not long now for your ET, hope the next few days go by quickly

@Lucindaa yes we're pregnant until proven otherwise :-) ive had mild cramping, more like twinges on and off today and yesterday, i woke up in a sweat on monday night but i think thats because i was sandwiched between my dog and husband, and i was wearing big fleece pyjamas and fluffy socks lol. When i had my iui last year i had absolutely no symptoms at all so im hoping cramps / twinges are a good sign. I also can't stop eating but i do get like that the week before my period is due so i don't know.

@daisymay25 you reminded me the clinic gave us a usb showing us our transferred embryo and how it developed from collection to before it was transferred, its amazing to see, i got a little bit emotional looking at it. Fingers crossed we'll be able to show these pictures to our kids in the future x

Kels you've had some cramping and your period is 3 days late, could be a good sign!!

DaisyMay25 · 17/04/2019 16:54

@Deeny83 science is just incredible, haha I have a hard enough time with the cats sleeping on me at night, I think I'd be a sweaty puddle if it was a dog! I've had twinges too but I think it's my ovaries settling down. They said on the scan they was still quite big.
It's so hard not to symptom spot isn't it?!

Deeny83 · 17/04/2019 17:01

@daisymay25 shes a big labrador too who thinks she owns the bed, so it can get a bit tight for space ha ha. It's so hard not to symptom spot, and then overthink about them too, ugh why can't science invent something to confirm pregnancy sooner then two weeks lol!!

Todey84 · 17/04/2019 17:26

@Lillyleaf U must be so relieved AF has arrived , that's great news. Good luck with the scan.

Had my 1st scan since starting the menopur today. Follicles measured 7,9,11 12x2 and 14 plus some smaller ones. EC should b a week today, have a scan Fri and Monday. Hoping there will be at least 4 mature.🤞

Todey84 · 17/04/2019 17:28

@FingersXssd83 Sorry to hear your news. Hope they get the endo sorted and maximise your chances ready for the FET. x

Viletta · 17/04/2019 19:15

One of our morula caught up and became a blastosist of day 6, so we've got 2 embryos on ice! I'm so pleased as last time we only had 1 embryo that was transferred on day 3. Healthy life style, supplements and PICSi paid off! I think I won't test till I'm at least couple of days late. Won't bare seeing bfn would rather have af slowly coming. I'm hoping for bfp though:)) good luck everyone on 2ww and for those who are in preparation! Only positive vibes xxxx

Deeny83 · 17/04/2019 20:38

Thats good going so far Todey84

Great news Viletta, best of luck

LillyLeaf · 18/04/2019 10:02

I had my baseline scan and my lining was a bit thick still (this happened on my first cycle so I was expecting it), they are waiting to see what my bloods say and then will decide if I start with the patches or have an endometrial scratch first to thin my lining down (sounds lovely), anyone had one? I'm trying not to stress over this as it might be another delay but let's see. Nothing is straight forward.

Lucindaa · 18/04/2019 11:18

@DaisyMay25 I know what you mean, we got a printed copy of our little ray of hope that we are also channeling our love towards. I was ok but yesterday and today I feel really nervous, jittery and unable to concentrate on work! This weekend I intend to make the most of the sun and literally do nothing! Hows about you? x

@kels290700 Good luck, I'm not very good with the abbreviation but my transfer was on Sunday with 1, 5 day old Blast. x

@Deeny83 I hope you are right! I do feel different but it could be the emotions of it all. We have been trying to conceive naturally for 14 years and some months I felt something so I know what I'm like! How you getting on? x

@Viletta Thats great news!! x

Lu x

DaisyMay25 · 18/04/2019 11:21

@Lucindaa earlier I had bad cramps, I'm remaining positive and thinking the embryo is getting comfy. I think I'll do some house work today, try to keep busy. No idea for the weekend though.
I've got one week of waiting left and it's already torture! How you getting on? x

mumsey2be · 18/04/2019 11:37

@Lucindaa @viletta @daisyMay25 @deeny83 @kels - i am keeping everything crossed for you all - what are everyone's test dates?

@lilyleaf never had a scratch but have heard they can be helpful. Deep breaths!

@todey these are good measurements so hang tight!
@FingersXssd83 and @orangefolly I know this must be so frustrating - but I have known this to happen for other ladies and the delay to have paid off. Each stage is so tricky and particular - can you gently tell yourself that the docs are doing their very best to maximise chance of success? I knowwhen we had our last IVF and were left with no embryos to transfer, we had asked for a donor embryo to also be ready, but they were really not keen to put it in because they said being both sad and tired would not help and they would prefer i rested a month. I ended up resting 6 months - but anyway! Let's have you in tip top condition xxx

As for me, well i woke up deeply sad and worried - I just cannot wait for this process to be over, i HATE the uncertainty. I am so worried that my marriage will come tumbling down if this doesn't work - my husband is infertile and i could so easily just go and find someone to knob just to be able to conceive naturally but he has said he really doesn't want that and that it would break his heart. But this experience is breaking my heart and breaking my head and I am the one going through all the drugs and tests and stress, not him. I know i have to just pay attention to the process i am in now but i am just doom and gloom central today. On top of that, I've been low carbing to prevent insulin increases and this morning i just stomped down to breakfast and ate pancakes, cereal, eggs on toast and basically any carbs i could get my hands on and now i feel so annoyed with myself. Jeez.

DaisyMay25 · 18/04/2019 11:39

@mumsey2be mines the 25th but that's my birthday so I think I'm going to test before (even though DH doesn't want me to) I'll probably test on Saturday

DaisyMay25 · 18/04/2019 11:42

@mumsey2be it's a horrible process isn't it? My issues are also to do with DH, there's nothing wrong with me. I know what you mean, it's annoying that we're have to struggle so much when they don't? Try to remain positive though. Not long til transfer for you.

Deeny83 · 18/04/2019 13:50

@lucindaa it's so hard to know isn't it? Im good just trying to be patient and feel like I'm nearly counting down the hours rather than the days (hint its still a lot if days to go, let alone hours ha ha)

@mumsey2be my official test date is the 29th but could test from the 27th onwards which i think i will do as it will be a Saturday and i can either celebrate or cry, i got a bfn result in work on my iui last year and couldn't stop crying at my desk it was awful, so i don't want to put myself or my work colleagues through that again!!
Don't feel guilty about the eating, we all do it, and sometimes it's just needed, dust yourself off and climb back on that wagon ha ha
