Hi everyone, so we saw the nurse earlier this week and our plan has been set. We are on long protocol and will be looking at starting on my December cycle meaning that I will be due to start buserelin around 6th jan with EC being end of Jan.

Anyone else looking at a December/ January cycle?

Hi @Ginger951 are you on your first round?
And can I ask what your oh count/motility was
My oh is severely low and said too low to count morph so I’m worried they will tell us there’s nothing they can do. Haha I can’t wait to be able to say that (looking forward to my af for once) are you going abroad? X

Rememberallball · 11/01/2019 15:30

Good afternoon all. We arrived safely in Cyprus last night and settled in to our hotel - which is cherry nice and about 20 mi punters walk from the historic castle and marina area of Kyrenia. Went to the clinic this morning and saw the consultant, had another endometrial scan (now 12.0mm) and DH did his bit. Egg collection was done before we arrived at the clinic.

They will let me know tomorrow morning how many eggs were fertilised (our clinic do icsi as a matter of routine) and then will update me on day 3 on the number of embryo’s and their grades. I start today on my clexane injections and 8% gel and the consultant has added in a synthetic progesterone injection every 3rd day. I also have to take antibiotics for the next 5 days.

Embryo transfer is booked for Wednesday and the consultant thinks we may even know whether it’s been successful before we fly home in 2 weeks time.

@Positivity86 yes standard for us too. We used to fall pregnant easily but then I had an ectopic 2+ years ago and now it seems impossible. So hope that taking my loss of tube out of the equation will solve our issue.
@Ginger951 hope your period arrives soon.
@Rememberallball good luck for Wednesday and I hope you have good news soon. And enjoy your holiday!

I started synarel today. Due my evening sniff in about 5 minutes. Not been too bad although I've had a slight headache all day and been really thirsty. I'm surprised that it's kicked in so quickly. Started the mindfulness IVF app too. I love his accent so should find that easy to stick to! 😀

Nordicmom · 11/01/2019 20:25

3 rd day of period now and day 10 on Buserelin. For one reason or another am down in dumps and so very tired but at least I’m managing to go to bed earlier although woke up several times last night . Have to say I found the short protocol so much easier it was only about 2 w of shots until egg retrieval so this month of shots is already wearing me down . I’m sure it’s also because I feel like it’s so futile and can’t feel positive or exited at all . No other noticeable side affects so far no hot flashes or anything . Maybe it’s because I feel crappy everyday anyway . I’ll have an early night and will try to find comfort in my family and friends

Nordicmom · 11/01/2019 20:33

Actually I’ve been a bit nauseous in the evenings but that could be because of my addrenal insufficiency...

Vikkid2007 · 11/01/2019 21:26

@nordicmom you need to feel some form or positivity to get you through the process. Obviously don't expect it's going to work without being realistic. But you can hope for the best and know you've tried your hardest :)

Vikkid2007 · 11/01/2019 21:29

Also thought I'd give you a little update on my progress. Of the 14 eggs collected Wednesday, 10 fertilised over night. Egg transfer scheduled for Monday with at least 6 still going strong this morning. Hope everyone is doing ok :)

Nordicmom · 11/01/2019 21:36

Yes I know what you mean I’ve done this before twice and we had DD 6 y through a gestational surrogate from the second cycle . I’m a pretty tough person mentally and I don’t give up but I’ve had mild depression since I was a teen so even without all this and what happened in the fall I’d be a bit up and down . I’ll get through it like everything else so far but am wishing the days away definitely

Nordicmom · 11/01/2019 21:48

Excellent no Vikki ! Both of my cycles even 7 y ago only gave us around 5-7 eggs in total which was very low for my age then 35/36 ( somehow my hormone levels and follicle numbers had crashed within a year or two while in the surrogacy process ) and both times we ended up with only 2 good embs to transfer .first time our surrogate got pregnant but it went wrong right away then on second it worked miraculously . Now my right ovary is showing same no of follicles but left seems quiet and my hormone levels are inline with my age or even a bit better but my quality will be so much worse that I’m fearing there’ll be possibly nothing to even transfer and then I have my mc problems . I’ve thought of egg donation before while struggling to have my DD then I could have considered it but at this point I feel like it’s out of question so it’s this or nothing . Good luck to us all !

Ginger951 · 12/01/2019 09:49

@donnas146 we are staying the in UK, looked at going abroad but I tend to get a little home sick and wanted to be able to properly distract myself with my own rountine so decided to stay here. Using a clinic based in Milton Keynes and Northampton.
His count is around 1.5 million, abnormality at 95% and morphology at around 1-2%, normal PH but a low volume. We have had a round 4-5 analysis done in the last 18 months and no one has any answers as to why. But they all seem to feel that as long as there are one or two good swimmer per sample it can be done.
The plus side of icsi is as long as there are a few good ones it can be done.
Though the only up side my husband has taken from it is that he will never need a vasectomy! Silver linings and all that.

Positivity86 · 12/01/2019 10:32

@Rememberallball sounds like a nice setting! Best of luck for Wednesday 😊

@Vikkid2007 that's a really good number! Did you have standard IVF or ICSI?

I feel like I've been down regging forever! 2 weeks today and baseline scan on Tuesday finally.

Vikkid2007 · 12/01/2019 10:36

We are having standard IVF. Can't tell you how glad I am not to be injecting anymore!

donnas146 · 12/01/2019 11:12

Think I would be the same about going abroad I get home sick too. I hope everything goes well for you! Did you not have any goes on the nhs?
My ohs was a bit like your ohs under 2 million 90 something percent not moving and didn’t know morph. He started taking supplements and his next test showed 3 mill count and motility improved a lot. Like you said ( and I have also read) as long as there’s a few good ones we both have a good chance. Good luck x

Saltisford · 12/01/2019 13:59

Hi everyone - I thought I’d check in as I haven’t for a while. I’ve finally begun but I’m on the short protocol whereas everyone else isn’t? Is anybody else? I don’t know exactly why I’m on this protocol - it’s my first round of IVF, I’m 35 with a blocked tube, TTC for 2 years. Today is day 6 of injections. I’ve done 4 days of menopur injections and now I’m doing both Menopur and Cetrotide injections until egg collection which could be next Friday or following Monday! The injections are way easier than I thought! Good luck to all! X

Justwaitingforaline · 12/01/2019 16:29

I’m on the short protocol! Injections start next Friday Smile They’ve put me on the short as I’m at risk of OHSS due to my AMH level. I’ll be on Gonal-F and Cetrocide! Glad to hear it’s all going well!

Saltisford · 12/01/2019 17:31

@Justwaitingforaline snap! Once you begin it goes so quickly! What is your amh? Mine was 19.something...

Justwaitingforaline · 12/01/2019 19:09

Salt I think my AMH was 27! I’m egg sharing and it had to be between 15 - 30 so was the higher end of the allowed range but then I am quite young (25) so they didn’t think it was abnormal, just that I might easily overstimulate.

Only two more birth control pills to take, tomorrow and Monday! Then it all kicks off properly!

Saltisford · 12/01/2019 19:23

@Justwaitingforaline - oh I didn’t have to take any birth control pills! I also do not know why! I just had to wait for day 1 of my cycle and began injecting on day 2 after they’d scanned me x

Justwaitingforaline · 12/01/2019 20:16

salt it’s became I’m sharing, to sync my cycle with the person I’m donating to Smile

Saltisford · 12/01/2019 20:44

@Justwaitingforaline - oh I see!! How clever! X

Ginger951 · 12/01/2019 22:38

@donnas146 no we didn't bother with the NHS. Bit of a long story really, I have been temping since 2015. So when we started trying in 2017 I knew my cycle very well, within 6 months (as we always had had our suspicions, having been together since 07 and no panic moments) so we paid privately to have him tested. Which is when we found out that it wasn't going to happen for us. The NHS wasn't interested. Didn't even want to run tests on me. Had to wait and hassle for that and then it took 3 months for them to sort all the tests out! During that time (start of 2018) hubby was involved in a major motorcycle accident involving a lorry in Vietnam. So all our plans were put on hold, he broke multiple bones in all but one limb. We are both only 27 but are fortune enough to be able to afford to go private.
In the last year we've spent to much time using the NHS. And I am very lucky and if that means that someone else in my area can use the funding then I would 100% prefer they had it to me.
Yeah we tried all the supplements and they made no difference. I've thought it could be many things but after almost 12 years together and 4 years without birth control. I think it's just him.
But icsi will give us a chance!

Anyone else getting bruises after their injections? Or is it just me and my very easily bruised skin?

Rememberallball · 13/01/2019 07:17

Morning ladies, we got the news yesterday that they retrieved 15 eggs from our donor, 13 fertilised and survived the first night and the embryologist said they were excellent quality. Next update will be tomorrow some time.

@Ginger951, I bruise from the clexane because it’s a blood thinner but was ok with the other one on Friday. I don’t have as many injections as you guys as I’m using an egg donor so don’t need stims. Try experimenting with how forcefully you jab yourself - I pinch the skin and very slowly push the needle in then release the pinch before slowly depressing the plunger. With the clexane you aren’t supposed to rub the area afterwards either as this can encourage bruising.

brighteye3986 · 13/01/2019 07:46

@Rememberallball that's excellent news.

@Ginger951 I haven't bruised at all from any of my injections. A couple have hurt after but none have bruised me.

I am stressing myself out as my AF still hasn't arrived and I just want it to! Today is day 9 of buserelin and I have been having cramps for 3 days but as of yet still no AF. I know I need to relax as I'm probably making it worse by stressing about it but it's so annoying!

@Rememberallball that's great news, you must be really happy with that 😊

@Ginger951 I'm injecting into my thighs and only have a couple of very small bruises after 2 weeks. I also make sure the needle goes in and out very slowly, but I guess everyone reacts differently.

@brighteye3986 don't worry it will come! Mine came on day 9 and I was also stressing. I actually had sex the night before to help bring it on! A hot water bottle on your tummy can also help get it going x

brighteye3986 · 13/01/2019 09:07

Thanks @Positivity86 I will try the hot water bottle trick today. I'm willing it to come. I will be trying anything later to try and bring it on!
