Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

@Peanut1980 No, not my first round. First round ended in a miscarriage at 9 weeks.

We have Frosties but I just don't know if I'm strong enough to use them, not to mention where we'd find the money from - getting the money together for this round was a stretch.

The only friend of mine who's been through IVF is now getting divorced - they went through several rounds and it broke them. For every success story there's another one like hers.

Luckily I'm working from home today so I can cry at my desk.

ParksAndRecreation · 22/10/2018 10:58

Morning everyone - that seemed to go ok. Got to say the worst part of the process so far (including all the jabs) was the rectal pessary this morning!
On my way home now, 11 eggs lighter which I’m completely bowled over by. Genuinely was only expecting 2 or 3 at most so I’m in shock....

Dia12 · 22/10/2018 12:40

Well done @parkandrecreation. That’s really good news. Now you can relax and chill out for a bit whilst the clinic look after things.

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 12:59

@dia12 I started spotting after 5dp5dt. I was convinced I wasn’t pregnant as I had no symptoms. My official test date was Thursday of last week and I also had a blood test done the same day. I’m pregnant but my count was towards the low end-ish so they wanted to do another blood test today. Done that this morning so just waiting to hear the latest counts tomorrow. My beta count was 128 on 11dp5dt. If it doubles every day it should at least be 1000 when I get the results tomorrow. Will just have to wait and see. My boobs are starting to get sensitive and my spotting has stopped. We’ll just have to see. I said to them today I think they’ll be calling me back for a 3rd blood test 😩 Seriously hope not 🙈

@ginandtonicformeplease oh that’s a sad story about your friends 😢 it’s not your official test date today though is it? Are you going to test again tomorrow?

@parksandrecreation that sounds great. That’s how many eggs I had collected. I’m so over sticking bum bullets up my anus. My husband asked me if I actually liked it? WTF?!? 🤣 He was met with a stern NO!! Are you going to be on cyclogest? Good luck you your embies. Are you using ICSI? Let us know when you get the news tomorrow.

@lopeylopez been thinking of you 🙏 how did you get on?

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 13:14

@Ginandtonicformeplease - so sorry about the BFN today. I’m sure your clinic will tell you to test again tomorrow if that’s your OTD though and it does happen that people only get their BFP on their test date so don’t give up yet. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

@Parksandrecreation - congrats on the 11 eggs - now you can enjoy a couple Of days R&R 😊

@Peanut1980 fingers crossed for a good beta level!

AFM it’s OTD today so tested with CB digital this morning and got 2-3 weeks pregnant. Did the maths with thursdays beta result and that looks correct so can only hope it sticks now. Had a few strong uterus cramps this morning that sent me to the toilet in a panic looking for bleeding - I’m a nervous wreck! I’m feeling sick almost all of the time now and the OHSS does seem to be easing so hoping it’s morning sickness rather than nausea from the OHSS. Going for another scan this afternoon to see whether my poor abused ovaries are deflating!

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 13:26

@crittertamer that all sounds very positive!!! Hope the scan shows your ovaries in a better place this afternoon x

ParksAndRecreation · 22/10/2018 15:42

Hi @peanut1980 - yes, we have to do ICSI as DP's morphology took a nose dive earlier this year and even though he's been taking supplements, they said it would be better to do ICSI so that's fine. We thought we might have to. I'm hoping that gives us a better fertilisation rate, although I know not all the eggs will be good enough. Guess we'll hear tomorrow...and yes - that pessary was just a bit extra!!! Jeez.

@crittertaimer - I really hope you're feeling better! But ALL the congrats on the test - fingers crossed for a sticky one (or two!)

@ginandtonicformeplease - I've got everything crossed that your test tomorrow is the BFP you want! This whole process is so hard.

@dia12 - Yes, feels good knowing that I've done everything I can now - and it's really up to the clinic / luck / the gods...

I feel surprisingly fine after the EC - I've got no pain, although I'm DEFO constipated so swings and roundabouts eh?

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 16:58

Just back from clinic and it seems the OHSS is only slightly better, ovaries are still very large and a LOT of fluid around whole pelvic area, but there is less fluid around my stomach and diaphragm (which I’d guessed as I can breathe easier today) so doc is happy that things should move in the right direction. At least the silver lining is that the OHSS still being there means the pregnancy is still progressing 😊

First pregnancy scan booked for 2weeks today - it’s going to be even worse than the TWW methinks!

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 16:59

And annoyingly she said 8nhave to keep dong the really painful blood thinner injections for 2 more weeks - I’m so sick of needles.

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 17:16

Oh Im pleased it’s heading in the right direction @crittertamer. Sounds like you’re getting great care there 👌

I’m driving myself potty over these beta results. Hubby keeps reminding me not to worry about them as if it were a normal pregnancy we would have only had the POAS result. Just hard not to overthink everything x

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 17:27

@Peanut1980 did you have the test first thing this morning? You’d think they could have gotten you the results today! I hope you manag3 to get some sleep tonight without worrying! Has your test line got darker? If it has then the HCG level will definitely have increased.

My doc just laughed at me when i asked shouldn’t we do another blood test to make sure levels are rising. I must have looked really hurt or worried or something then because she said well we can do one if you really want to but there’s really no need. I decided to stop acting like a neurotic idiot then and agreed to wait for the scan 😊

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 17:35

Yes a test line has got darker when I did one yesterday. They get the bloods couriered. They get the results tomorrow morning and I’ll jusy await they’re call 👀👀👀🤞🤞🤞

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 17:36

Ah that’s great @Peanut1980 - if test line is getting darker then I’m sure you’ll be fine 😊

LopeyLopez · 22/10/2018 17:38

Hello folks,

Sorry for the delay - am zonked. Had to be out of the house this morning at 6.20am - so even earlier than a normal work day for me - to get to clinic on time as DP does not drive, I am not allowed to today because of the sedation, and so had to use a plethora of public transport links one after the other. Went back to bed after getting back home, and just now waking up...

They got 8 eggs in the end, which I am happy about as the threat from the scan was that there would be 3. So that's good; actually one more than last time! Nothing to say that any of them are any good, mind, but we can just wait and see.

I'll get the phone call tomorrow regarding fertilisation. @ParksAndRecreation we have ICSI too due to DP's poor count and morphology. Fingers crossed🤞 Good luck all 🍀

ParksAndRecreation · 22/10/2018 17:43

@LopeyLopez - that's amazing news! I've been thinking about you all day! Fingers crossed we get good phone calls tomorrow!

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 17:51

@Lopeylopez - woohoo - awesome news 😁

FingersXssd83 · 22/10/2018 17:58

Congrats on 8 eggs @LopeyLopez and it looks really promising for you @Peanut1980

Had my final scan this morning and booked in for EC on Weds so doing my trigger tonight. Eek!

I have 11 follicles plus some tiny ones so I was disappointed about this after an initial AFC of 16. However, the nurses said it's better to have fewer but better quality and a cluster similar to what I have. I'm convinced they're just trying to make me feel better...

Here's where I'm at:

Endometrium 8.9mm
Left ovary: 21mm, 18mm, 17mm, 17mm, 17mm, 16mm, 15mm 14mm
Right ovary: 19mm, 18mm, 17mm

Does anyone know if this looks okay? It's my first cycle and I'm sending myself mad Googling my results.

I suppose there's no point worrying now though. What will be will be!

Good luck to everyone in this crazy process

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 18:05

@FingersXssd83 those follies look fine - I had 12 between 15 and 22mm on day of trigger shot and they got mature eggs from all of them 😊

ParksAndRecreation · 22/10/2018 18:10

Hey @FingersXssd83 - it's my first time too. I think I had 12 follicles in my right ovary, and 1 in my left - and they got 11 out of my right which I wasn't expecting.
They'll all grow a bit more in the next day or so, so you'll be ok!

I had a massive one around 25mm I think, and the smallest (at the last scan) was around 13mm so the smaller ones must have caught up since I triggered (on Saturday night) which I was amazed by. I was only hoping for 3-5 really....

No point googling - everyone is different. I came out of EC this morning and could have gone on straight to work / the gym / climbed Everest. The poor lady in the next cubicle had a totally different experience - so one size really doesn't fit all!

Try and relax, step away from Dr. Google and rub your tummy so the Genies come out!

xx

FingersXssd83 · 22/10/2018 18:39

Thanks lovelies @ParksAndRecreation @CritterTamer It's a relief to know that my numbers sound reasonable.

Hope you're still feeling okay after your EC today @ParksAndRecreation. I'm surprised at how quickly and smoothly this week on a short protocol has been. I was expecting it to be horrific.

I'll be rooting for all of you! Looking forward to seeing more BFPs on the thread although I can't for the life of me imagine I'll be one of them Xx

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 18:43

@lopeylopez that’s made my day. I’m so pleased for you. Good luck to your embies and getting some great news in the morning 😘🤞🙏

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 18:46

@fingersxssd83 that’s s great number! Good luck for Wednesday lovely 🤞😘🙏

LopeyLopez · 22/10/2018 20:14

@FingersXssd83 those follicles look great; you will be fine! Good luck on Wed.

@ParksAndRecreation last time I was like you: felt great afterwards. This time I am still in pain hours later....thank goodness for another day off tomorrow!

Trying2bemum · 22/10/2018 20:28

I'm so sorry ginandtonic, and sorry to hear about your friend too. It's so so incredibly hard xxx

Trying2bemum · 22/10/2018 20:30

Glad things are progressing well critter and peanut

Well done on your EC lopey, fingers crossed for good embryos 🤞🏼
