Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Thanks @crittertamer. I’ll be pleased when I get Monday’s test results in to see it hopefully increasing. Just protecting myself being cautious x

LopeyLopez · 20/10/2018 07:14

Hi all.

Congrats @CritterTamer amazing news. Glad it's going ok @Peanut1980

Well I had a most disappointing scan - the one and only one I get! - yesterday. Only 3 follicles....some smaller ones that may be big enough by EC but unsure. Rubbish news. However I've been told I still have to have egg collection on Monday as if I don't these three will get too big and be no good. So trigger for me tonight; will find out time from hospital today.

It seems so counter intuitive that I'll only have stimmed for 9 days this time, and last time when at this stage I had 12 follicles I did 10 days. Also that I am on 50% more meds - in fact injecting £150 worth of meds every day!! - yet the result is so much worse than last time. AND I've been on all the supplements and the acupuncture so much longer before stimming this time......was just hoping for such a better result.

Feel like it's all over now before we've even got the eggs. Yes, I know it only takes one but our chances are so much more reduced now. Just feel like giving up. It's a numbers game and mine are rubbish. The idea of the extra dosage of meds was specifically to get more eggs.....well that hasn't worked. I know there are stories with people getting pregnant from just a few eggs but I feel they are the exception rather than the rule. Last time I had very poor fertilisation rate and embryo development. I doubt I will even make it to transfer this time if things continue in this vein....

Sorry for the moan; I am just so sad. Yesterday after the scan I had that pain like grief in my chest that stayed with me for the whole day. It was almost too much to bear yet I had to go back to work and act normally all day. Truly awful.

I will try to give myself a good talking to and try to stay positive but it is very hard now knowing the situation. Well at least I get two days off work for EC next week: that's about as positive as I can be at the moment!

Peanut1980 · 20/10/2018 07:40

@lopeylopez oh jeez I’m so sorry to hear about how you’re feeling. I can imagine that grief feeling in your chest. I know it’s so hard and I do understand all the points you are making. Still, you must not lose hope. I know it’s hard when you feel the odds are against you but this whole process is just a gamble and you’re still in the race. Please try to pick yourself up today. Don’t allow yourself to go to that dark place. Sending you love, strength and positive thoughts xx

CritterTamer · 20/10/2018 07:50

@Lopeylopez I’m so sorry that you’re feeling like this - this whole experience is such an emotional roller coaster. Please don’t give up hope just yet - you may have 3 perfect eggs in there so it’s far from over yet. Take the weekend to relax and look after yourself and I really hope Monday’s EC goes well for you xxx

Dia12 · 20/10/2018 09:19

Hi @lopeylopez, so sorry you’re having to go through this. Like the girls have said, you are still in the game.
You may well get more than three as the smaller follicles can indeed catch up with a few more days of growth.
It’s frustrating how unpredictable it all is, I had much lower numbers of follicles this time too - just can’t make head or tail of how and why.

It’s a very difficult journey, we’re all here with you - just keep yourself busy and focus on things that make you happy for now. You’ll get through this xxxx

AniSL · 20/10/2018 14:55

Crittertamer anf Peanut1980 congrats, LopeyLopez don't feel saddened and sorry you are going through this, like the ladies havr already said - u may get 3 perfect embies. DH and I were told by NHS consultants that it woukd be impossible for us to have a biological child, we have 4 grade AAs in the freezer waiting for us to go back to transfer

ParksAndRecreation · 20/10/2018 19:54

Finally - I've just done my trigger. 1 in each leg...phew! Heading in to EC at 7.20am on Monday.

Now it's over to them - I've done my bit. Going to have a massive curry and relax.

@Lopeylopez, try not to worry - the others are right. You're still in the game!
@peanut1980 - hope all good in the hood!
@crittertamer - really hope you're feeling a bit better, but omg maybe twins!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok - whatever stage you're at.

CritterTamer · 20/10/2018 19:57

Well done @Parksandrecreation! You had 2 trigger shots? What did you trigger with?

Peanut1980 · 20/10/2018 19:58

@parksandrecreation enjoy your curry my lovely. Good luck for Monday morning 😁😘🙏🤞

ParksAndRecreation · 20/10/2018 20:09

@crittertamer - it was 10,000 Gonasi but they only come in 5000 single shots apparently, so I had to do 2. At least they weren't expensive!!
@peanut1980 - MMMM curry! Get in!

CritterTamer · 20/10/2018 20:18

@Parksandrecreation oh that sucks - my trigger shot was the most painful of them all (ovitrelle) so glad I only had to do one. The worst part was having to hold the needle in for 10seconds after dong the shot - ouch. Saying that it was nowhere near as painful as the clexane shots I’m having to do now for the OHSS - they burn like hell for about 30minutes afterwards 😔

BeaCat · 20/10/2018 20:28

@peanut @crittertamer @dia12 thanks for your replies re the supplements- I might keep going with them until ET but check with the clinic it's ok. I start on Friday, finally!

Eek @crittertamer I think I'd be equally excited and terrified if twins was an option for me, exciting times!

@lopeylopez try to stay positive, you've still got a good chance. Fingers crossed for you X

AniSL · 20/10/2018 20:50

Parksandrecreation well done, hope EC goes well and minimal side effects after. Ouch 2 triggers

LopeyLopez · 20/10/2018 22:37

Thanks ladies. I am feeling a little better now. It was just such a huge setback at the time. Trigger shot done for me now....EC on Monday, 9.10 am. Good luck @ParksAndRecreation , egg retrieval buddy!!! 😂

CritterTamer · 21/10/2018 10:45

@Lopeylopez and @Parksandrecreation - good luck for your egg collections tomorrow morning!

Glad you’re feeling more positive now @Lopeylopez 😊

Also good luck @Peanut1980 for your blood test results tomorrow 🤞 my clinic said there was no need for a second blood test but I don’t get that - all the reading I’m doing shows that everyone gets a second test to make sure levels are increasing even if the first result was high. I’m going in for a scan to monitor the OHSS tomorrow so think I’ll ask about it - if nothing else I would like to put my mind at rest that I’m still pregnant and it wasn’t a chemical.

Trying2bemum · 21/10/2018 12:52

Best of luck @ParksAndRecreation and @LopeyLopez 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Peanut1980 · 21/10/2018 13:33

@crittertamer Thank you. how are you feeling? Is the pain subsiding? If my count was higher then I wouldn’t need a 2nd blood test and I’d be quite happy with that. Hope the figure is good and I don’t need a 3rd 🤞🤞🤞

@parksandrecreation good luck for tomorrow xxx

@lopeylopez well done 😘 good luck for tomorrow xxx

CritterTamer · 21/10/2018 14:04

@Peanut1980 thanks for asking. Not feeling too bad at the moment - the pain seems to ramp up from mid-afternoon and is worst during the evening and overnight so enjoying the respite right now. DH won’t let me out of bed to do anything which is really sweet but also a bit frustrating LOL 😁 he just brought me a lovely bunch of flowers home though which are are making my bedroom smell gorgeous (sense of smell seems to have gone crazy the past few days!).

ParksAndRecreation · 22/10/2018 06:04

Good luck today @lopeylopez!

Dia12 · 22/10/2018 06:25

Good luck @parksandrecreation and @lopeylopez for your EC today, fingers crossed for a good quality haul 😉 xxx

AniSL · 22/10/2018 08:41

Peanut1980 LopeyLopez and Parksandrecreation good luck today

ginandtonicformeplease · 22/10/2018 09:20

I'm out ladies. I did a test this morning- 10dp5dt - and it's negative. My official test day is tomorrow so I very much doubt that it'll change overnight!

I'm not sure where we go from here. I'm not sure I can go through this again. I might be feeling differently if the doctors hadn't been so confident - beautiful blastocyst, perfect lining - but if they say that everything looks right and it still doesn't work then what can they change?

Good luck with your EC today @ParksAndRecreation and @LopeyLopez .

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 09:23

@ginandtonicformeplease I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending you love and strength. Is this your first round? It’s a tough process. One of my friends went through 7 rounds of IVF and upon using her lowest quality embryo she fell pregnant. It’s so unpredictable. Take some time out to look after yourself but don’t give up x

Peanut1980 · 22/10/2018 09:24

Thanks @anisl.

Good luck @parksandrecreation and @lopeylopez. Rooting for you both today 😘😘

Dia12 · 22/10/2018 09:48

I’m sorry to hear that @ginandtonicformeplease. This is the scariest thing I’ve ever had to do and I completely agree with you - where do you go when everything was as it should be?
I guess it may just end up coming down to a numbers game? Who knows. It still sucks big time.
Do you have any frosties?

Is it your OTD today @peanut1980?

It’s been the longest 5 days post transfer. I’m feeling absolutely nothing, no spotting, no sore breasts, no cramping. I’m wondering if my uterus is still down there 😞
