Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

@Peanut1980 I'm 6 days past transfer. I think one of the reasons I feel like this is because it was successful last time, so I'm looking out for the same subtle signs and they're just not there.

@CritterTamer I'm sorry to hear you're still suffering. Hopefully your clinic will be able to reassure you at least.

ginandtonicformeplease · 18/10/2018 17:10

Cross post @CritterTamer but congratulations! That's fantastic news Obviously not the OHSS (I remember what that's like) but that too shall pass - it took me a couple of weeks to deflate but it gets better! Congratulations!

CritterTamer · 18/10/2018 17:21

Trying not to get my hopes up too much - still need to wait for the call tomorrow but they seemed pretty certain it would be good news - normally they are so tight lipped and getting any information out of them is like getting blood out of a stone!

Until an hour ago I was totally convinced this had failed (like you because of lack of symptoms other than the OHSS ones, which obviously really can’t be relied upon) and now I’m just in a bit of shock I think - if the news isn’t good tomorrow it’s going to so hard to deal with after getting my hopes up again.

Trying2bemum · 18/10/2018 17:57

It's the first thing I thought when you said your OHSS has got worse @CritterTamer - fingers tightly crossed for you xx

Peanut1980 · 18/10/2018 18:07

@crittertamer eeeeekkkkk! I’m so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!! Now rest up my lovely and do what the Dr said. Let us know what they say in the morning. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you 🙏🤞😘

@ginandtonicformeplease dont lose faith over the lack of symptoms. I have pretty much no symptoms and very unlike my other pregnancies. Had I not have tested early I would have been convinced this had failed. Send luck, hope and baby sprinkles your way xx

ParksAndRecreation · 19/10/2018 09:12

Oh finally! Triggering tomorrow night for EC on Monday. Thought this day would never come!

Peanut1980 · 19/10/2018 09:23

@parksandrecreation. That’s exciting! Good luck for Monday x

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 09:27

Great news @Parksandrecreation! How many days stimming will that be for you?

BeaCat · 19/10/2018 09:33

Lots of positive things happening on this thread 😊I've hopped over to the October/November thread as I'm still waiting to start but keeping up with everyone's stories still.

Just wondering, did you carry on with your supplements during the process? Was planning on carrying on with my multivitamin but thought it best to the stop the others (co q10, vitamin D and omega 3)?

Peanut1980 · 19/10/2018 09:38

@beacat good luck to you with your cycle. Do you know approximately when it might start? I only take a WellWoman Conception supplement and I carried on taking that all through the process but that’s an all in one x

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 09:55

@Beacat nice to see you again, and good luck for when you get started. I take the Zita West IVF prep pack including multi vits, antioxidants DHA oils and vit D spray, plus Ubiquinol. I kept taking it all throughout the cycle. The only things I stopped taking were maca powder as this will try to fight the hormone stimulation, and raspberry leaf tea after EC as lining was perfect at that point and it can bring on uterine cramps which is obviously a bad thing after ET. Also stop any strenuous exercise once you start stimming, although your clinic should advise you of this!

Dia12 · 19/10/2018 09:59

Yay for no more injections (after trigger) @parksandrecreation, hope you can now just take it easy and let the clinic take over the hard work.

Hi 👋🏼 @beacat - I took a combination of vitamins until ET after which I’ve just stuck to a prenatal tablet. Good luck xx

@crittertamer glad you were seen by your clinic, hope you’re feeling better. Super exciting news for you - look forward to the actual confirmation 😘

FingersXssd83 · 19/10/2018 10:51

Just got back from my first scan and have 10 large follicles between 10-15mm plus a few small ones that they don't think will catch up and a endometrium of 9mm. Have to go back for another scan on Monday and my EC is expected on Weds. I'm a bit concerned about the number of follies as at my initial test they saw 16 without any stimulation. Do they sound like a reasonable number?

ParksAndRecreation · 19/10/2018 10:55

@crittertamer thanks! By the time I take my last stimms tomorrow it’ll be 16 total. I genuinely don’t mind them - it’s all the to-ing and fro-ing from the clinic that has been a total ballache. Takes ages every time as well - especially if they have to do bloods. I’ve got stupidly deep and shy veins so the nurses get really stuck trying to find a vein!
Can’t wait until this bit is over!

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 11:00

@Parksandrecreation - wow 16 days is a long time - must be costing you a fortune (if self-funded) mine cost about £300 for every 3 days. I only stimmed for 8 days in first cycle and 9 days this cycle though so was lucky 😊 I think the good news is that slower stimulation = better quality eggs as a rule so hopefully it’s a good thing for you!

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 11:28

Just had beta HCG blood test result - 597 which they said is excellent for 9dp5dt so a definite BFP! Will have to wait a couple of weeks to confirm whether we have 1 or 2!

Just need to monitor and manage the OHSS now as it could cause issues if it gets worse but so far so good!

ParksAndRecreation · 19/10/2018 11:51

@crittertamer CONGRATS!! Such great news! Put your feet up immediately!!
And yes...over £2k on drugs now...😐😐😐 it’s criminal!!

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 12:05

@Parksandrecreation - ouch £2k stings on top of the cycle cost doesn’t it. I was already starting to worry about where we were going to find another £1400 for the drugs for our next cycle I was so sure this one had failed (we paid for 3 cycles up front)

I know there’s a very long way to go yet but fingers crossed we eon5 be needing that third cycle now 🤞

@FingersXsssd83 - I think it’s very normal for not all of the follicles on the AFC to stimulate. In my first cycle I had 12 follies on AFC but only 8 stimulated and they said that was normal. They said it was unusual this time when we got 12/12, an£ th3n said they won’t all have eggs - we also got 12 eggs.

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 13:19

Ok visual proof of my first ever BFP - now I’m starting to believe it 😁 this cane up in about 20 seconds.

September/October IVF
Dia12 · 19/10/2018 13:44

Aw so happy for you!! Must be such a relief and reassuring to see those two coveted lines!!! 💐💕

Trying2bemum · 19/10/2018 14:42

Congratulations @CritterTamer !! I've never had a BFP either, it's inspiring to see you've made one. How long have you been TTC?

Good luck @ParksAndRecreation

@FingersXssd83 it's more about the quality of eggs than anything - 10 sounds decent to me.

Peanut1980 · 19/10/2018 14:50

@crittertamer that’s amazing news!! Great count for 9dp5Dt. I’m guessing twins!! I got 128 for 11dp5dt. I’m going back on Monday for another test to see if it’s progressing as it should 🤞🙏🤞🙏 Will get my next results on Tuesday morning x

Peanut1980 · 19/10/2018 14:53

@fingersxssd83 that number sounds good to me. I had 11 eggs collected x

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 14:53

@Tryingtobemum - I can still hardly believe that’s my test - first time I’ve ever seen anything other than stark white staring back at me! Weve only been TTC just over a year, but being aged 40 after 6 months of absolutely nothing decided we did not have time to waste and went straight to IVF - so glad I did now!

CritterTamer · 19/10/2018 14:56

@Peanut1980 that’s a good number too - I’m so happy for you. If I remember correctly my embies we’re a little ahead of yours at transfer as they were already hatching so that might explain the higher number - however realistically I think you’re right and 597 at 9dp5dt is way too high for a single embryo. (I’m terrified!)
