Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Thanks @crittertamer yes that's what I thought but I wasn't sure.
Sounds like a good idea to take the time off, I'm a big believer in self care and giving yourself time to relax.

CritterTamer · 09/10/2018 20:27

I definitely feel more relaxed knowing I don’t have to go to work tomorrow 😁 looking forward to a week of doing very little to be honest!

AniSL · 10/10/2018 08:30

Amazing news Crittertamer and good luck TeaJenny81

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:02

Some good news from the embryologist this morning - we have 2 frosties - a 4AA and a 4 AB 😊

TeaJenny81 · 10/10/2018 13:20

That is brilliant news @CritterTamer. Congratulations. 🎉

I have also booked a week off work following the transfer. Time to relax a little. I do however have a very full week after that. Need to remind myself to slow down and take care... xx

NV42 · 10/10/2018 13:21

May I ask for what IVF clinics you opted and how much they charge you? Do you feel that they truly care and are their for you all the way in this journey?

AniSL · 10/10/2018 13:23

Yet more fantastic news Crittertamer- well done

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:24

@Teajenny81 I think it’s important - I really regret not taking it easier during the TWW in my first cycle - even though it’s likely not the reason it failed I still feel like I didn’t give it every chance I could have to succeed,
I’m determined that if it fails this time I won’t be kicking myself saying I wish I hadn’t done that during the TWW...etc. Currently got my feet up watching lots of telly LOL. DH has even taken over walking my 3 dogs for the next few days bless him 😊

What time is your transfer tomorrow?

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:29

@NV42 I’m in South Wales and use CRGW. They are wonderful and offer a very caring and personal service. Their prices are very good too if you buy a multi cycle package but I think IVF prices are lower in Wales than England, partly b3cause there is better NHS funding here.

TeaJenny81 · 10/10/2018 13:34

My transfer is 11am. xx

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:38

@Teajenny81 good luck for tomorrow - will you have 2 put back?

TeaJenny81 · 10/10/2018 13:44

@crittertamer yes we are going for a double transfer. That's if they are both still good enough quality. We had a double transfer in 2014 and resulted in one baby. We transfered 1 in May and no baby. Best case scenario we have 2 excellent quality embryos and we can freeze one but that is unlikely. I've never had any good enough to freeze on the past. xx

NV42 · 10/10/2018 13:54

@CritterTamer

Thank you for this information.

May I ask one more thing about what you mentioned regading NHS:
l I am 42 so NHS does not cover anything for women 40+ when it comes to IVF at least in England. Is it different in Wales?

Saying this, I didn't think NHS has different policies across England or Wales but they were consistent across the UK. Sorry if I got it wrong :-)

Thank you again for the information and I wish you all the best of luck..

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:58

@NV42 - the age limit for IVF on the NHS is 42 in Wales - I’m 40 and currently in the process of referral but it’s takes so long that we went private in the meantime as we didn’t have time to waste.

I believe in England the maximum age is 40 but some health boards are as low as 35 from what I’ve been told.

NV42 · 10/10/2018 14:22

@CritterTamer thank you very much for this clarification.

I really wish you the very best of luck. Being at a similar age, I think I know how you must feel, so my warmest thoughts are with you!

LopeyLopez · 10/10/2018 17:29

Hello ladies,

Been lurking for a while but still reading...just caught up.

I was due my period on Monday but it never came. Not did I have the usual few days of spotting beforehand that I always always have. I had cramps 9-11 dpo but none since. I was getting all excited, especially as my temp was (is) still up and I am never usually late. I confirmed ovulation via temp change and opks so it's not late ovulation. However, as you imagine, I have done multiple tests (!!!) and I am NOT pregnant. Many miserable stark white bfns.

Thought I could have been one of those super lucky women who get their much yearned for natural bfp whilst waiting for ivf. But no, it's just my evil body fecking around.... it has meant that I haven't been taking the pill from cycle day 1 as planned...I am now literally waiting to come on to start my drugs. If I start tomorrow I will go straight to injecting stims meds. Guess at least I will miss out one extra drug (the pill) by my body misbehaving....

It's just typical that every cycle when you are praying for af not to come, it comes bang on time, or even early.... and then the one cycle when you need it to arrive to start treatment, it goes awol for no apparent reason. If I come on tomorrow (fingers crossed....if not it throws all my ivf timings off and I've already sorted days off with work!) then I will have had a 33 day cycle with a 15 day luteal phase....never before!!

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 17:34

Hi @Lopeylopez - that is so typical - AF always shows when you don’t want her and never when you do! Hope everything sorts itself out for you vet6 soon xxx

LopeyLopez · 10/10/2018 17:35

In any case, providing af comes tomorrow, I start stims then on short protocol....anyone else at this stage? Last time I only had to inject for 10 days and I'm on a much higher dose (the highest) this time, so doubt it'll be longer - probably the same.

Wish me luck!!

Good luck to all those on the tww and at every other stage xxx

ParksAndRecreation · 10/10/2018 17:48

Hi @LopeyLopez - I’m on day 6 of stimms on a short antagonist protocol. It’s my first time, so it’s all new to me.
I have my next scan on Friday and then next week I guess it’s everything to play for.
Good luck!

Peanut1980 · 10/10/2018 19:53

Hiya @lopeylopez. Good luck my lovely 😘🙏

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 20:06

Good luck @Lopeylopez and to all those having EC or transfer tomorrow, and to those stimming 😊

Trying2bemum · 10/10/2018 20:17

@AniSL that's an amazing result, do you mind me asking what you think made a difference / helped you get such amazing embies?

All the best with your transfer tomorrow @TeaJenny81

Congrats @CritterTamer and fingers crossed for you

Hi @LopeyLopez best of luck

No news here - awaiting AF this weekend and baseline Monday xx

AniSL · 10/10/2018 22:33

Good luck tomorrow TeaJenny81
LopeyLopez I hope AF arrives soon
NV42 my CCG cut off is 34 and only 1 round, it varies massively across England, if I lived where I work - 42 and 3 full rounds
Tryingtobemum my Gonal was slightly increased this time to 225, but I did take over 3 months of 400mg Ubiquinol, 1500mg Inositol, 750mg of L-Arginine and 5mls of Glutathione. Occasional .5mls melatonin. My diet went pear shaped 2 months before we were due to start and ending up eating all sorts of crap so I wonder if that negatively impacted on my little eggs.

AniSL · 11/10/2018 07:58

NV42 we needed ICSI and TESE so pretty much knew that a UK clinic would cost us. We looked to Europe where ICSI is standard. Here in the UK we found the cheapest we could find was around 10k, we went with Newlife in Greece €2500 for IVF with ICSI, €1000 for Embryo Transfer, €600 for TESE.

TeaJenny81 · 11/10/2018 09:27

Well that was the dredded phone call... Embryos are not looking good so they are going to wait till Sat to see if they survive to day 5 blastocysts. I guess there is a tiny shred of hope still but not holding my breath....

When I opened my shutters this morning and saw what a grey miserable day it was I did feel quite pessimistic...
