September/October IVF

Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Hi @dia12. Thank you. Yes we decided to try and avoid twins. More my husbands choice. I’m a twin (identical) and have always loved the thought of having twins when we were trying naturally. I was kind of hoping he wasn’t listening when they were asking today but no such luck.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on 🤞

Trying2bemum · 07/10/2018 22:12

Congratulations @Crazyeyes3 😍 that's wonderful and gives me hope. It doesn't feel possible to get a BFP after three years of nothing !

That makes complete sense @AniSL

Trying2bemum · 07/10/2018 22:14

Fingers crossed for you @Peanut1980 and everyone else waiting for transfer 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Peanut1980 · 08/10/2018 09:10

Ahh so I just spoke to the embryologist and it was 3bb and not 4BB. She said it had started to expand but wasn’t fully expanded. My other embryo which they were reporting back on this morning didn’t make it x

BeaCat · 08/10/2018 09:47

@penut good to hear you at least have one in there, hopefully it's getting nice and comfortable. What does 3BB mean? I'm still patiently waiting to start so quite far behind and not up on the lingo! Sorry to hear about the one that didn't make it.

AniSL · 08/10/2018 10:52

Day 5 report and out of the 10 we have 4 blasts that have made it, 3 4AA and one 4AB.

Freezing in batches of 2 so will have 2 shots at getting it right. Gearing up for FET now so getting rid of all the hormones that were pumped into my body and cleansing too

Peanut1980 · 08/10/2018 11:02

That’s fantastic news @anisl 😁

Peanut1980 · 08/10/2018 11:07

Thanks @beacat. Here’s a link to explain the grading of the embryos. To be honest though from my research having the top grade embryos doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll stick. The lower grade have a good chance too. It really is the biggest gamble in anyone’s life. I’ve been on such a rollercoaster of emotions these past 24 hours but then I read something from someone in a similar situation as me and it’s stuck! ‘PUPO’ - pregnant until proven otherwise. It’s really helped me get of a positive mindset.

EC today, 8 aspirated 4 eggs collected. Will find out fertilisation rates tomorrow 🙏

Peanut1980 · 08/10/2018 13:08

Well done @teajenny81. Good luck to your embryos 😘🤞

Dia12 · 08/10/2018 13:27

That’s the spirit @peanut1980! Thanks for the link, it’s really useful to know what the grading actually means but you are right, I was also told that grading doesn’t always predict the outcome.

Great news @teajenny81, keeping fc they all fertilise.

Yay @AniSL you have 4 blasts! That’s brilliant, you must be so relieved.

Today’s monitoring scan has shown 6 follicles that are between 16-20mm and a few more just lagging behind. Not sure if they will want to collect these or push another day for the smaller ones to catch up. Sod’s law EC will end up being on Thursday and we’ll have to reschedule delivery of new sofa (we’ve been sitting on uncomfortable chairs for past 6weeks) Confused! Argh!

CritterTamer · 08/10/2018 17:31

Good news TeaJenny - fingers crossed they all fertilise tonight 🤞

Dia12 that sounds promising - my EC fell on an awkward day too - you’ll manage to make it work 😊

Peanut sorry to hear the other embie didn’t make it.

Congrats AniSL - great news 😊

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone - hope you’re all doI guess ok.

Just had my last acupuncture session before transfer which is tomorrow morning - so nervous now!

CritterTamer · 08/10/2018 17:32

Sorry that should have said hope you’re all doing ok.

Stupid iPad leyboard!

Peanut1980 · 08/10/2018 17:50

Good luck for tomorrow @crittertamer 🤞🤞🤞

TeaJenny81 · 08/10/2018 18:39

Thanks everyone. Let's hope it's a good phone call tomorrow.

Good luck with your transfer tomorrow @crittertainer.

TeaJenny81 · 09/10/2018 10:18

Hospital just phoned; we have 2 fertilised embryos 🎉 I'm booked in for ET on Thurdsay. xx

Peanut1980 · 09/10/2018 11:01

Woo hoo! Great news @teajenny81. Not long to go 😁😘 x

CritterTamer · 09/10/2018 15:27

Great news @Teajenny81 😊

Just back from transfer - had 2 fully expanded AA hatching embryos put back so really happy - much better than last time 🤞 also have 5 more developing strongly but slower which they think some of will be suitable for freezing by tomorrow so that will be even better 😊

TeaJenny81 · 09/10/2018 16:26

Amazing @CritterTamer fingers crossed for the 2 on board and I really hope you get some Frosties too. xx

Peanut1980 · 09/10/2018 17:03

@crittertamer that’s amazing news 😍😍😍

Dia12 · 09/10/2018 17:22

So happy for you @crittertamer, hope this makes the tww a little easier for you. Are you working or taken some time off?

Good luck for ET ok Thursday @teajenny1981. I’m in for EC on Thursday.

How’s everyone else getting on?

Peanut1980 · 09/10/2018 18:11

@dia12 that’s a good question. What is everyone doing after ET? I had a bit of a rest on the day of the ET but I’ve been non stop. I feel completely normal and have to keep reminding myself to try and slow down. A lot of places want you to keep active unless you’re advised otherwise.

Good luck for your egg collection on Thursday 😘🤞

BeaCat · 09/10/2018 18:13

Well done @critterTamer, sounds very promising. Eek imagine if they both stick!!

Thanks for the link @peanut on the grading. Do you know is the grading system different from the genetic screening? I'm NHS funded and they said we don't get the screening.

Good luck @Dia and @TeaJenny for Thursday 😊

I haven't started yet, just waiting for day 21. I decided to delay my treatment for a month as I wasn't feeling that healthy so looking forward to starting.

CritterTamer · 09/10/2018 20:15

I’ve booked a week off work now - I went back the day after ET last time and couldn’t concentrate on anything so it was a waste of time. Also that cycle was unsuccesssful so decided to try something different and follow the advice of the acupuncturist which is just rest up for a week at home.

@Beacat genetic screening isn’t done routinely anywhere as far as I know - if you want it only certain places do it and I think it adds several thousand pounds to the cost of the cycle. The grading scores only consider how the embryos look to have developed and do not pick up genetic abnormalities.

Good luck for Thursday @Dia12 🤞

CritterTamer · 09/10/2018 20:16

Sorry and good luck for Thursday @Teajenny81 too!
