Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Fingers crossed for you both @Beherenow32 and @Ginandtonic31

Ginandtonic31 · 22/06/2018 12:15

Trouble is one embryo isn’t enough as it has to make it to 5 days and then not have the gene so I’ve given up tbh. I’m just gutted and thibking how come everyone else does well and I don’t.

Dia12 · 22/06/2018 12:28

I can relate to how you feel, i’m pretty sure all of us in here probably wonder why it’s so easy for everyone else. None of us are really out of the water just yet......
Take one day at a time and don’t be too hard on yourself. We’re all here with you x

physicskate · 22/06/2018 12:51

@ginandtonic31 - I think you're being a bit unfair and having a bit of a pity party... There are loads on this thread who have had years of disappoint and failure after failure. It isn't (just) you!!!

Most people approach ivf as a long term thing. I am expecting to have to do at least 3 rounds, hence hopes are low about this working (it would be fantastic after the last 27 months of nothing but failure and disappointment) but haven't got my heart set on it.

Chin up, you're in good company. Know that the docs have learned something from this round for you. LOW expectations is the key with any fertility treatment.

CritterTamer · 22/06/2018 13:30

@Beherenow32 and @Ginandtonic31 - well done on your ECs today. Fingers crossed for good fertilisation results for you tomorrow.

My clapped out 40yo ovaries managed to produce 2 good quality 5 day blasts out of my 6 eggs so I have high hopes for you two 😁

CupcakeVampire · 22/06/2018 13:35

Well good luck to everybody going forward. Unfortunately I have to bow out of the thread now as my cycle has been cancelled. My scan today showed some fluid or possibly polyps in my womb but they aren't sure what it is so I have to abandon ship till my next AF when I will get another scan to see if it's still there or not. If it was just fluid then hopefully it has buggered off and I can get going again.

I'm gutted but I know that it's not worth risking an embryo and a funded cycle if everything isn't 100%. Apart from that, the medication had done what it was supposed to do and the lining and ovaries were fine. Periods have been a bit weird since my MC so perhaps I still have a bit of recovery to do inside despite feeling fine on the outside.

ginandtonicformeplease · 22/06/2018 14:30

Really sorry to hear that @CupcakeVampire , it all seems so hit and miss, with no rhyme or reason to any of it.

I rang my clinic on the dot of 9 this morning, the missed bloods didn't matter really, they're just to double check the visual measurements that they did during the scan. Just have to go for bloods when I go for my next scan! Unfortunately I drowned my sorrows with gin in the airport yesterday evening but have resolved to try and put the whole process to the back of my mind this weekend.

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 14:52

@physicskate @ginandtonic31 unfortunately, this is my 3rd egg collection. You just got to keep on trying. As crap as it is!

@CupcakeVampire that is a massive shame about your cycle being cancelled. I hope this is resolved quickly for you!

Been sleeping since I got home. Still so tired. Apart from that, feeling ok just now...

Xx

physicskate · 22/06/2018 14:55

So agree @Beherenow32. I slept most of the afternoon of ec. Hope you aren't in too much pain!

Gavinmaxine1 · 22/06/2018 18:22

How is the sedation for EC?? The NHS didn't knock me out our first time but our private clinic do so just wondering what it's like??? My first try on ivf was horrendous at EC

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 18:32

@Gavinmaxine1 the sedation is great. I slept the whole time. First time I woke for a second, but was put straight to sleep again.
They also put a painkiller and anti sickness through the iv. Makes the procedure very easy to go through.

I’m a little sore now. Can’t move much at at all. But nothing worrying. Xx

Tigerlily99 · 22/06/2018 18:33

Hello @Gavinmaxine! At my NHS clinic they did EC under sedation. I was terrified beforehand but was out for the count within a few seconds of first injection. All I remember is waking up well after all finished and being hungry! OH says I had some pain when I first came out but I don’t really remember it. X

Tigerlily99 · 22/06/2018 18:42

@ginandtonic and @beherenow, hope all goes well with embryos- when do you hear from the embryologist?
@Maiarindell1- hello 👋 I saw you started buserelin yesterday, how r u finding it so far?
Im starting buserelin on Sun and I keep checking my protocol to make sure I do it right! So exciting to finally get started after long wait. I think there are a few of us starting at same time, I hope I make it to transfer at a similar time to everyone else! Am on a FET but I think timescales are fairly similar to long protocol IVF. Slightly worried about my drugs as I’m not convinced I’ve kept them below 25C with recent weather but we will see if they work!!! Good luck everyone x

natz26 · 22/06/2018 19:18

Is anyone due for EC on Monday??? The injections have seemed to go so quickly and now it nearly over. Scary but soooooo exciting 😊😊😊

Maiarindell1 · 22/06/2018 19:52

Hi @tigerlily99, yes I started yesterday and had a dodgy stomach for most of the day but much better today thankfully! I was thinking of keeping it in the fridge next week as it’s meant to be hot but no idea how much of a difference it might make. I think I’m due for transfer around 20th July but I’m sure that will change! How long did you take off with EC? I’m worried about taking more than the day itself

Tigerlily99 · 22/06/2018 20:02

@Maiarindell- I had planned to take just the day of transfer off last time but ended up off work for several days as I developed OHSS straight after transfer. This time I’m having a FET and cant get OHSS so back to taking 1 day off. To be honest I found working during the 2WW helpful as it took my mind off the agony of waiting! I haven’t been given a proposed transfer date yet as it’s too early, should have better idea after first scan on 10 July. If all goes well it should be the week after you. I hope the time flies by! X

Maiarindell1 · 22/06/2018 20:17

@tigerlily99 Oh hopefully your body has recovered and you’ll have a great shot at transfer. Did you manage to get lots of eggs to freeze? So far on my scans they’ve only been able to find 7/8 follicles so don’t think I’m at to great a risk for OHSS

Tigerlily99 · 22/06/2018 20:38

Hopefully more will turn up! I started off slow with the stims initially. I feel totally recovered, thank you for asking 😊 My fresh cycle was ages ago- back in Jan so I hope all the cysts in my ovaries have gone by now! We are very lucky to have 9 frozen embryos, hopefully one will stick 🤞x

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 22:06

Ate so much rubbish today, and really regretting it now 😵

@Ginandtonic31 wishing you luck for tomorrow. I hope that you managed to go out and drink that cocktail! Xx

windy2909 · 22/06/2018 23:10

Hello ladies, hope you are all doing well. Was part of this thread at the beginning but unfortunately things have not gone to plan for me and everything is on hold again. Just wanted to say I am rooting for you all. Being in this position is so s@&t! I will have the occasional lurk just to (hopefully) hear your good news. Keep going....there’s nothing else for it xxx

cannonball8726 · 23/06/2018 08:35

@windy2909 sorry things didn't go to plan :( hugs. when are you planning to cycle again?

@beherenow32 and @Ginandtonic31, well done yesterday. I'm sorry you are feeling gutted, @Ginandtonic31, but all isn't lost. Have hope. Good luck to you both today Flowers

@Tigerlily99 I'm also paranoid about the storage temperature. It's so hot in our house!

@cupcakevampire, sorry about your news. Fingers crossed that it's just a bit of fluid that resolves and you get to cycle again soon Flowers

@ginandtonicplease glad the bloods weren't essential. Have a good time away!

@Maiarindell I'm a few days behind you. I start buserelin next Tuesday. I've booked a couple of weeks off for the process (roughly around and after egg collection) but I had some leave to use up and have some other work to keep me busy!

@natz26 good luck for Monday!

Sorry for the ones who have had to drop out 😞

All 8 of my eggs were mature, and 6 fertilised! Still sore today, but not so bad.

Thinking of you @Ginandtonic31! Xx

CritterTamer · 23/06/2018 13:57

Congrats @Beherenow32 on the 6 fertilised eggs 😊 hope you’re not too uncomfortable today.

@Ginandtonic31 hope you had good results also 🤞

Ginandtonic31 · 23/06/2018 14:36

Thanks @CritterTamer. Just keeping my distance a little as I was very emotional yesterday and some of the posts didn’t really help my mental state.

All 4 were mature and 3 have fertilised. Waiting for the Thursday call now to see if any make it to the freezer so that they can build our test.

So sorry to hear about having to drop out @cupcakevampire. 💜

@Beherenow32 congrats on the 6!

CritterTamer · 23/06/2018 14:42

Hope the next 5days goes quickly for you both and the outcome is good! Xxx
