Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

@Maiarindell1 hi! I didn’t have an upset stomach with down regg. I had headaches, hot flushes and was very thirsty, the first time I was on it.

@Ginandtonic31 I’m not feeling any cramps. I’m really uncomfortable, but I have quite a physical job. I’m probably moving about too much today.

Xx

Hi @ginandtonic, just want to say I also had no symptoms whatsoever after my trigger (hcg) and only had a handful of follicles at the threshold on last scan but seemingly loads caught up in the few days between trigger and collection! Your Drs will have loads of experience of when is the best time to trigger and will also be wanting the best outcome for you. Good luck tomorrow. X

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 11:51

Thanks everyone. My trigger is Burserelin which I believe is a bit less aggressive so I’ve just felt like it’s the end of the road but I need to be optimistic. I’m sorry I’ve worried and moaned so much! I will be gone in a few days as can’t transfer yet but I will be watching everyone else’s progress and cheering from the sidelines.

Tigerlily99 · 21/06/2018 13:09

@ginandtonic, no need to apologize. That’s what these forums are for! I went through most of the same worries as you on my first cycle, it’s entirely normal to be nervous and uncertain. Have fingers crossed for s good haul. X

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 15:15

I am sooooo exhausted. Looking forward to ec, so I can get a really good sleep 😂 x

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 15:47

Our train doesn’t get in until after 10 tonight 😫 I hope I sleep well in the hotel.

LopeyLopez · 21/06/2018 17:13

Wow, this thread is a hive of activity! I am having difficulty keeping up.... good luck to all those going through ec / et and well done for getting this far.

I am Day 6 and getting restless. Time is dragging sooooo slowly! This morning I started doing the second injections (to stop the eggs popping out too soon) as well as the stimulation ones in the evening. I feel like a human pin cushion....

Physically I feel fine if a bit bloated and with a few twinges in the ovary area; mentally I have totally lost focus and work is become a struggle....

I am having a protein shake every day plus loads of protein in general; all the supplements (have been doing those for months anyway, since before we knew we needed ivf); all the fruit and veg; exercise; will start doing a hot water bottle in the evenings/in bed..... are there any other tricks I should know about to be doing while I wait? To help the eggs grow?! I am still worried about follicle and egg numbers....

@IvoryCloud congratulations on your bfp and thank you for what you posted about numbers of follicles and eggs - it made me feel a bit better. This is my first time at this and I am all over the place (although outwardly a picture of calm and normality....!)

ginandtonicformeplease · 21/06/2018 17:47

I'm really worried I've screwed up. I went for the scan to check lining this morning and it was too thin so they've doubled my dose of progynova. This doesn't worry me as one of the epilepsy meds I take means that progynova isn't as effective as usual. However, at 16.59 I got a voicemail from the nurse as she can't find my blood results - I didn't go for a blood test as I didn't read the flipping protocol to remind myself and nobody mentioned it earlier! Of course the clinic shuts at 17.00 so I can't speak to anyone until tomorrow.

Wouldn't usually be a problem but I'm on the way to the airport for a weekend away! DH is saying to calm down, that I've got extra time on the progynova so I can have a blood test when I go to be re-scanned in Tuesday, but what the hell does he know??

I'm in half a mind to turn round and not go away. Except for the OHSS after EC this has all gone far too smoothly and I had to just fuck it up now.

Sorry for the rant, just about to burst into tears on the Gatwick Express Blush

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 18:08

@ginandtonicformeplease do you have an emergency number that you can phone, and ask the nurses if it’s ok to wait for blood test?
I’ve slept since my last message 😴 x

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 18:09

@LopeyLopez sounds like you’re doing plenty! Prob waliking/ yoga to get the blood flowing down there. But most of it, is probably down to how we react to the drugs. You sounds like you’re doing a great job tho! Xx

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 18:10

That’s meant to say walking!

Charmers1 · 21/06/2018 18:11

@Ginandtonic31 the trigger didn’t make me feel uncomfortable but then for some reason my eggs stopped developing after the 1st week. I had a couple of glasses of red wine over the weekend post egg collection - I can’t tell you how much it helped me chill out and it tasted so much better than normal! Good luck with the train tonight and will be thinking of you tomorrow. Xxx

Dia12 · 21/06/2018 18:12

Oh no @ginandtonicformeplease that sounds awful. Is there an emergency number you can call? My clinic had one for these kind of situations.
My gut feel is that you can have your bloods done as soon as your back. The clinic would be closed over the weekend anyway. So fingers crossed for you, I’m sure it will be fine when you get back. Try to relax and enjoy your weekend away xxx

CritterTamer · 21/06/2018 22:29

@Ginandtonic31 and @Beherenow32 good luck for your ECs tomorrow! 🤞

Dia12 · 21/06/2018 23:23

Good luck @beherenow and @ginandtonic for the EC tomorrow. Hope it all goes smoothly and you get lots of lovely healthy eggs xx

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 07:31

Thank you! I’m hungry already lol. Hope you got to the hotel ok too @Ginandtonic31 x

Ginandtonic31 · 22/06/2018 08:29

I did thanks @Beherebow32 and slept well! Meant to be collection at 8.30 but still sat in the waiting room. It’s only making me more apprehensive.

cannonball8726 · 22/06/2018 08:35

Best of luck for today, @beherenow32 and @Ginandtonic31! Flowers

I’m waiting now. During a urine test to make sure there was enough of the trigger shot after me missing a wee bit. 😐
I’m not nervous at all. Just hoping and praying for a good result. Hope you get seen to quick @Ginandtonic31 x

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 08:49

Thank you for the well wishes everyone. Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 22/06/2018 09:43

I’m gutted. Theyvonly got 4. After all my follicles 😞

physicskate · 22/06/2018 09:52

Wow @Ginandtonic31 you've come around super fast!! I was asleep for ages afterwards...

4 is still more than zero! It seems lower egg numbers tend to go the distance more...

Ginandtonic31 · 22/06/2018 09:57

I don’t have any hope at all. Nothing has gone smoothly for me.

Beherenow32 · 22/06/2018 11:06

@Ginandtonic31 it’s difficult when you don’t know how many fertilise. Hope you found the procedure ok.

We got 8 eggs. And eating my lunch now. Was starving lol.

Going to try not stress about the phone call tomorrow 😬 xx

Dia12 · 22/06/2018 11:25

Congratulations @beherenow and @ginandtonic31 so pleased for you both.
Don’t lose hope @ginandtonic31, I know it’s diffi to see past the numbers right now but you can still get an amazing embryo from 4 eggs.
Good luck for tomorrow girls. Xx
