Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

@cannonball8726 - I have it twice a week at the moment. She likes to see people once a week for the three months before a cycle, and I'm giving her like 6 or 7 week. Today was my fourth session It's odd but terribly relaxing. She taped a little mustard seed to my ear to give a light squeeze whenever Im feeling stressed. It's so weird, but it kinda works!!

I get the control of what I ingest thing. I've lost a stone and a half in the last year. Exercise needs a bit more attention, but I've got diet licked!Loving my avocados and cashew butter for healthy fats!

cannonball8726 · 08/05/2018 19:23

@physicskate that's amazing! A stone and a half. Well done to you! Exercise lifts my mood a lot so try to make time for it and am generally consistent (although occasionally I can't be arsed :) ). Will find not exercising during treatment hard as it really helps me feel better during shit times. Will have to just get in plenty of walking!

And I just read your comment about the mustard seed. WHAT! You have a mustard seed stuck to your ear?! Grin glad it's helping nevertheless!

I’m with you kate, wish I could get the bug for exercise! Need to do more. Well done on the weight loss.

Would love to try acupuncture but not many places near where I live and don’t want to have to venture too far.

I was at the clinic today - which was not very useful 🙄. Basically they took my bloods, couldn’t explain the lack of af and phoned me later to say my progesterone levels are elevated, so af should come and I just have to wait it out. I am climbing the walls and very grumpy!

On the plus side, as soon as it arrives I can call them and they will do bloods to detect my ovulation. When that is detected I will get to have my first ever transfer 5 days later 🤞

Beherenow32 · 08/05/2018 23:17

Just wondering if anyone is using a relaxation app? Haven’t tired these before, but would like to this cycle.

Hope af is on its way @windy2909 mines are always late before starting a cycle!!! Xx

windy2909 · 09/05/2018 07:58

Thanks beherenow. I’ve read on different threads people mentioning the mindful ivf app. Haven’t tried it but people had good things to say about it. Maybe worth a go? X

Beherenow32 · 09/05/2018 22:20

I was thinking about that one. Will definitely try. Can feel my period coming, which means I’ll be phoning the hospital to start again soon 😯
How’s everyone else feeling? xx

windy2909 · 09/05/2018 23:00

@beherenow32 - bring on the af so that you can get going! What’s the plan? Do you know protocol, meds etc? X

Beherenow32 · 10/05/2018 19:28

Ah! Still waiting! I think it will come tomorrow.... I will be on long protocol, but unsure if the type of injections. So far I’ve been on Bemfola and Menucur, and will be on something different next time round.

Any sign of your af @windy2909
?

windy2909 · 10/05/2018 20:54

Hope it comes tomorrow as expected @ beherenow32. Have you had anything to start down reg yet? Or will that be after af arrives? I’m amazed at the different variation of drugs that people are given.

I finally have signs it’s on its way (other than the relentless cramps for the last four weeks 😳) 🤞

Beherenow32 · 10/05/2018 20:57

My period will come, then I go in for a scan, and start the pill, then day 21 I start injections to down Regg. I downloaded he minful ivf app so, maybe that will hurry it along. Lol.

The body never wants to co operative when we need it to! Xx

windy2909 · 10/05/2018 21:53

The waiting is tough! You’ll just be keen to get started. At least when things are happening you feel as if you’re taking a step in the right direction. Keep us posted x

cannonball8726 · 11/05/2018 09:11

My period has arrived, so called the clinic and will go on Monday for repeat AMH and scan. Consultant appointment on following week so will find out about protocol then. Hope AF makes its way for you ladies so you can get cracking! First time during this process that I've actually been okay about starting my period...

@cannonball8726 good news! My af also came this morning. Need to wait until I’m finished work and phone this afternoon! No privacy at work lol. Time to get this started! Xx

Beherenow32 · 11/05/2018 14:01

Going in on Tuesday for mock transfer etc. Found that really painful last time, so feeling nervous xx

windy2909 · 11/05/2018 16:29

@cannonball8726 and @beherenow32 - mine came this morning too! How’s weird is that? All 3 of us in one day! At least we’ll all feel that things are moving.

Can I ask what a mock transfer is? I’ve never heard of it x

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/05/2018 17:09

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining - I've just come over from the April/May thread as ended up having freeze all due to OHSS. Bloody awful! But got some blastocysts in the freezer and just waiting to go - transfer won't be until my June cycle though so quite a wait.

Beherenow32 · 11/05/2018 17:10

@windy2909. That’s so funny. Good it came for us all.

The mock transfer, they do the same process as they would an embryo transfer. Just to make sure everything is straight forward.. no cysts or difficulties getting in. I always need gas and air for transfer, but I think most people find it ok! It’s so uncomfortable for me. Xx

windy2909 · 11/05/2018 18:15

Ah ok! That’s good they give you gas and air if you find it uncomfortable.

@ginandtonic - hey! I was on that thread for a bit too and had to bump myself off it as things didn’t happen as quickly as they should have for me. Sorry to hear about the OHSS. Same thing happened to me. It’s absolutely gutting when you’re all fired up for a fresh transfer. Hope you’re recovering well? X

physicskate · 11/05/2018 19:19

I bumped myself from there too as we found a last minute issue with thyroid...

CD 6 or 7 (don't really keep track anymore). Just waiting for next af to start short protocol. I think thyroxine is doing something - i've lost a couple of pounds! And not napping in the afternoon.

I do hope everything is a bit more straightforward for us all soon.

cannonball8726 · 11/05/2018 21:41

@Beherenow and @windy- glad period arrived for you guys too! Although feeling the shitty hormones and cramps this evening. And having some much-needed carbs while chilling in my PJs on the sofa! Shame about the lack of Wine. Would also love some dark chocolate right now. My willpower goes out of the window on CD1/CD2!

@Ginandtonic - sorry to hear about your OHSS. Glad you've got some frozen blastocysts. How are you feeling? Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for you!

@physicskate - glad you are feeling a bit better since starting thyroxine. How's your mustard seed?!

What's everyone got planned for weekend? My husband is dragging me to the Avengers movie!

OP posts:
physicskate · 11/05/2018 21:51

Dark chocolate is good!! Full of zinc, so I read!

Mustard seed survived my hair washing. It's ace. It totally slows everything down just fractionally - breathing, heart rate, thoughts...

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/05/2018 21:51

@windy2909 Feeling a lot better now! I was prepared for them perhaps having to freeze all just due to the number of follicles - in the end they retrieved 37 eggs. The clinic was really good about making sure I was ok, calling twice a day (which actually got a bit much after a few days Blush).

It took me a couple of weeks to start getting back to normal, but I've had the post EC consultation and full steam ahead for FET in June.

Beherenow32 · 11/05/2018 22:29

@Sissi81 here is the thread 🙂

windy2909 · 12/05/2018 08:10

@cannonball - just have some chocolate! I know what you mean about willpower at this stage of cycle. I am just going to eat what I fancy today and get back on the healthy eating tomorrow.

@physicskate - glad to hear the thyroxine seems to be making a difference. Will they test your levels again soon to check your levels?

@ginandtonic - glad you’re feeling better. That was some amount of eggs collected! At least the clinic kept you informed and checked you were ok. When I was going through it, my clinic didn’t really indicate that it looked like it was heading towards a freeze all. The first I heard was when they phoned me after last scan before egg collection. I maintain that if they’d been blunt with me and told me when they first suspected then I would have had time to get my head round it. As it was, it was a bolt from the blue and I didn’t take it too well!

We have some friends coming over for dinner tonight, but other than that a quiet weekend for me. I’m hoping the weather is nice! X

Beherenow32 · 12/05/2018 08:21

@ginandtonic wow! 37 eggs?! Were you in pain after? I was quite uncomfortable last time with my 7 eggs 😖😖

@physicskate I can’t get over the mustard seed 😂 how long will it stay for? Wish I was brave enough to try accupuncture, but I just don’t think I would like it. Wonder if it’s possible to do fertility massage at home...

@connonball8726 good to allow yourself a little treat. Like the others say dark chocolate can be good for you. I had honey on bread to beat my sugar cravings the other day 🙄

And want to say welcome to @Sissi81 who I tagged from another thread 👋
