Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Whoa @Ginandtonic31, what if you hadn't seen the email?!?

OP posts:
Ginandtonic31 · 20/06/2018 21:12

@cannonball8726 theyvhad left a message on our house phone! My husband was just like that’s odd, the phone is flashing with a message. Then I found the email! God I am stressed. Hotels are so expensive now and I am so worried I’ve not got enough mature eggs

cannonball8726 · 20/06/2018 21:18

@Ginandtonic31 Jeez! Why didn't they call you on mobile?! Crazy stuff. They know what they are doing, though - they wouldn't arrange for EC on Friday if you weren't ready. So be positive and have faith. Good luck with finding hotel - you just need somewhere to rest your tired head (and body). Well done on doing the trigger under such stress! Deep breaths and positive vibes xxx

@Ginandtonic31 that’s just crazy! What a massive stress for you! Have a cuppa and a quick look at hotels. You can sort this!
You must be having you ec early. I dont trigger until 11pm 😴 Xx

cannonball8726 · 20/06/2018 21:19

Excellent idea! Have a cuppa. Exciting stuff for you ladies on Friday :)

I don’t drink hot drinks 😂I’m so sorry girls for all my stress. I can’t find anything less than £280 for two nights and that’s a travelodge. I just feel they are rushing me because they must be busy on Monday?! I’m in at 8.30 according to the email!!

cannonball8726 · 20/06/2018 21:28

Do you have preference for somewhere in London? If hotels in Central London too expensive, look for somewhere in Zone 2/3 and you can get tube/uber in morning. You might save some money that way.

@ginandtonic where abouts in London is your clinic? Is it Harley Street? If you have a look further out, somewhere like Stratford it is quite easy to get central line across in the morning or Hammersmith. Or what about an air bnb? X

Charmers1 · 20/06/2018 21:43

Sorry- wrong name! @ginandtonic31 where abouts in London is your clinic? Is it Harley Street? If you have a look further out, somewhere like Stratford it is quite easy to get central line across in the morning or Hammersmith. Or what about an air bnb? X

Ginandtonic31 · 20/06/2018 22:48

It’s Guys. I’m rubbish with London!

ginandtonicformeplease · 20/06/2018 23:04

Ginandtonic31 Airbnb it - you can get a whole flat for two days for that price!

Is it recommended to take a whole day off work for ET as well? I've got my scan tomorrow to see how my lining is, then they'll decide which day. I'm really hoping it'll be a Saturday just so I don't have to try and explain to my (new) work why I need the last minute day off.

I'm dreading the scan - DH is so optimistic, thinks that because it's MFI then it'll all be really straightforward from now on. I've tried to tell him it doesn't work like that but he's so bloody optimistic!

Beherenow32 · 20/06/2018 23:05

Trigger done. Accidently squirted about a ml out into the air tho... 😞 I’m sure that won’t make difference tho?!?

Hope you got a hotel sorted @Ginandtonic31 would be nice for you to be able to enjoy your time away too xx

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 00:28

What a night. Thanks everyone and sorry for rambling! Managed to book two nights in a Best Western Plus in Vauxhall and a train. £300 lighter but hopefully it’s a one off! They better get enough bloody eggs from this now! I’m so scared as I just don’t feel I was ready! Also my trigger shot was kind of a blur but I made my husband check it twice and he says I measured it right so here’s hoping. So I’m at work tomorrow thebfoing to rush back home and throw some stuff in a bag and leave. My poor mum is rubbing me to work and back because Of my car and then to the train station! I don’t know how I feel about it all now as the rushed feeling tonight and the fact it feels too early has taken the shine for me.

But @Behernow32 same day EC!

CritterTamer · 21/06/2018 05:54

@Ginandtonic31 - just caught up on this this morning - what a stressful evening you’ve had! I hope you’ve had a good sleep and are feeling calmer and more relaxed this morning 😊I would say trust your clinic, they know what they’re doing and won’t have called you in unless they think you’re ready - they don’t want to waste their time and money or yours!

@Beherenow - I’m sure 1ml won’t make a difference!

Well done both on triggering, and I hope everything goes well for your ECs tomorrow 🤞

@Ginandtonicformeplease - my clinic advised taking ET day off work. You’re in there for a while by the time they go through everything with you, and advise you to go home and take it easy for the rest of the day.

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 06:14

I’m awake already 😴it really just upsets me as my nurse would have pushed it until Monday and if the outcome is bad I will always blame it being too early. Also I can’t feel a thing since trigger and that worries me! Up early to pack now 😂

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 06:52

@Ginandtonic31 was your oestrogen level high in your blood test? This happened to me last cycle. Ec was early due to the worry of OHSS.

Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 06:58

I’ve no idea. I doubt it. My nurse just emailed my info to Guys and asked if she should continue to monitor me for a collection Monday and next thing Guys are telling me to trigger and come in Friday. I’m so apprehensive now as I don’t thibkbtheyve assesses it properly at Guys.

Beherenow32 · 21/06/2018 07:16

@Ginandtonic31 it’s prob a shock for you since things started so slow, and now you’re being rushed into ec! I understand your worries though.
I mean try some meditation/ positive visualisation later 😂 (after all the housework, since I won’t be doing any this weekend!) xx

Charmers1 · 21/06/2018 08:54

@beherenow32 and @Ginandtonic31 good luck with ET today!

@Ginandtonic31 I know some lovely restaurants in Victoria (near Vauxhall) I can recommend if you need any. There is the Rail House Cafe or Timmy Greens (amazing food and huge portions)- both in Victoria. Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 09:27

Thanks @Charmers1! I will see how I feel. I was hoping to feel up to going to Coppa Club and having a cocktail!!

I don’t even think it was rushed because I was suddenly ready as I still believe that this isn’t the right time! But they will know for next time I guess. This time tomorrow it will all be done. I cannot feel a thing. Isn’t trigger meant to leave you uncomfortable?

physicskate · 21/06/2018 09:46

I didn't have any symptoms from trigger especially. Although o noticed boobs were a bit tender after ec... possibly my side effect from trigger.

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 09:54

I guess that’s reassuring @physicskate. I need to learn I can’t control it and this is what the doctors have told me to do and I can’t argue that. If it doesn’t work it isn’t meant to be this round. I just heard everyone saying you feel the cramps after trigger etc.

physicskate · 21/06/2018 10:19

That's completely it. I suppose as you are doing this mostly for genetic reasons, it's easy to assume everything else will be plain sailing... but for your own sanity try to let go and trust the docs who have done this a thousand times (says the pot to the kettle). Let go. Low expectations is the key.

Ginandtonic31 · 21/06/2018 10:55

That’s the trouble @physicskate. The PGD group I’m in people get amazing results and I won’t be one of them. Plus we need more embryos than most as the condition is 50% chance.

Maiarindell1 · 21/06/2018 11:09

Hi all,

I’ve been reading this thread for a while and it’s been really helpful in the lead up to starting IVF. I’m in a same sex marriage but I also have low AMH so we skipped other insemination routes and ended up straight to IVF!

I’m hoping to start ICSI this month, we tried a flare cycle last month but my ovaries were all over the place! Now moved to long protocol and started buserelin for down regulation today. I’ve had a terrible upset stomach all morning and had to come home from work-unsure if it’s a bug or side effect-has anyone experienced similar? I’m really hoping it won’t be like this all the way through!!
