BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

wombats · 26/03/2018 06:51

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

Hope you are still feeling better dame . And feeling reassured. 90% accuracy isnt too bad, The doctor should have been more reassuring!
wombats bruges did you have scans planned for this week?
I have a scan tomorrow & the anxiety is already building. My symptoms seem to have disappeared over the last 2 days, no nausea, boobs less sore & mild cramps. No longer sure whats in my head & whats real!

DameSylvieKrin · 19/04/2018 15:27

Good luck for the scan, Decaf, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.

TryingToStayRational · 19/04/2018 16:25

Dame 90% sounds v good - what a blimmin tool of a man! There are ways to say things! Hope you’re having a good day.

Decaf scanxiety is rubbish, I know I’ll be just the same in a few days. One of the lovely nurses at the unit said to me “I know it’s really hard - you have a test or a scan and are told everything is ok so you feel great, but then a few days later that starts to fade and you start to worry about the next one. It’s completely normal, we understand”. It’s so true! Hope your time in the waiting room is minimal and you get some nice reassuring news of your little bean!

AFM no change - sick and knackered but grateful. Hanging in there. Today’s terrible snacks have been Walkers salt and vinegar squares + mini milks.

Hi everyone, sorry for the silence over the past week I’ve found this whole process so stressful. I had my viability scan today and sadly it’s not good news, got to go back for another scan next Thursday but the nurses were very honest and said that once I stop the meds’ it’s likley i’ll Miscarry. Miscarriage number 4 for me and I’m pretty much heartbroken. At 39 I don’t have much time left and I’m not sure how many more times I can go through this but for now I just need to absorb the news. I wish all of you the best of luck in your pregnancies. I’m going to be giving the Internet a miss for a while so I can come to terms with it. Lovely chatting with you all

Decafplease · 19/04/2018 17:31

Oh Karen, i am so very sorry! How devastating. It’s absolutely shit and unfair. Take the time you need to heal. Will be thinking of you Flowers

becky114 · 19/04/2018 17:39

@79Karen I'm so sorry Karen, such sad news. It's just not fair, and just seems so cruel. Xxx

TryingToStayRational · 19/04/2018 17:47

I’m so sorry Karen. I feel for you so much. Take care Flowers

DameSylvieKrin · 19/04/2018 19:13

So sorry to hear it, Karen. We’ll all be thinking of you.

Bruges21 · 19/04/2018 20:53

I'm so sorry to hear your news Karen, this is such a cruel and unfair process. I hope you can take some time to rest and recover. I understand you'll want a break from the internet but we're all here for support if you need it.

Decaf sorry to hear you're feeling anxious, it just feels like never ending worry doesn't it. Lots of luck for good news tomorrow.

My scan is next week, still few days to go. Think yours is same day Becky? Hope you're coping ok with the waiting? Any news for you yet wombats?

Best wishes to everyone else too x

DameSylvieKrin · 20/04/2018 10:58

Just when I thought that we were going to have to go the whole weekend in suspense, I got a call and the NIPT results are all low risk. Also, it’s a boy!
I’m feeling very very lucky but otherwise it hasn’t sunk in at all. Am going to get out the scan pictures that I didn’t let myself look at yet and try to start thinking of it as a baby instead of a foetus.
Hope things go well for you today, Decaf.

becky114 · 20/04/2018 11:06

I was sick this morning!!! 😍😍😍😍 feel fine now so I'm not sure if it was a coincidence, as I do have s cough and a little congestion. I was the happiest vomiting person ever!!!!

@DameSylvieKrin your having a baby boy!!!!! That's amazing, how far are you now? Xxx

@wombats are you ok? Getting a little worried about you. Xxx

TryingToStayRational · 20/04/2018 12:42

Dame that’s wonderful, so glad all is ok Grin

becky I’m not sure it’s normal to congratulate someone on being sick, but I’m glad you are so happy about it! Smile Hope your cough etc is soon better.

Decafplease · 20/04/2018 13:13

dame! Thats great news! Low risk & a baby boy!
becky😀 hope you feel reassured now - its funny how much better feeling sick makes me feel 😀
My scan was good! So relieved! As you said rational its a few days of releif, till the next one. Am booked in for the NIPT 2 weeks from now. But going to postpone worrying about that till then.
Hope everyone else is ok?

DameSylvieKrin · 20/04/2018 15:00

Becky, glad you’re feeling sick!
Big congrats on the scan, Decaf, you’re one step further on! And the chance of getting bad news from the NIPT isn’t high.
Thanks for the good wishes, I’m 13 w 3d so can really start telling people now.

wombats · 20/04/2018 17:33

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear this sad and utterly unfair news. I'm so sorry this round wasn't successful for you. Please do come back when you feel ready, we are always here for your support if you want it.

Becky, congrats on the sickness. Mine's hit the past couple of days, haven't been sick but massively nauseous, never been so happy to feel so grotty! Fingers crossed for your scan next week.

Decaf, congrats on the scan today, fab! Glad you will have a bit of relief and relaxation before the NIPT worries begin Smile I've forgotten how many weeks you are now?

Dame, congrats on the assessment and the baby boy! Exciting to be able to start sharing your news. Am I correct in thinking you already have one DC with your DW?

Bruges, good luck with the scan next week! We're both 7+4 today, I believe? How are you getting on?

Apologies for missing messages, work's been mad and I'm absolutely knackered. Scan was good, saw the heartbeat and everything measured perfectly, so chance of miscarriage is now

DameSylvieKrin · 20/04/2018 19:49

Such great news for you too Wombats!
Yes, we have a 6 month old DD, we are very lucky. I started trying to get pregnant before she came along so somehow she overtook her little brother.

Decafplease · 21/04/2018 10:20

Glad to hear your scan wa good wombats! I am on a similar miscarriage odds reassurer page everyday. Its very comforting to see the risk drop day by day. I am now at 9w1d.
Just curious when are people experiencing most nausea? Mine seems to start mid-day, and peak around 9-10pm! It had abated for a couple of days, but was back with a vengeance yesterday. Am trying to eat small meals, but means i am eating pretty much every 2 hours. Getting some strange looks from work colleagues.

TryingToStayRational · 21/04/2018 10:54

Yay for great scan news, wombats!

decaf my sickness was worse later in the day at first, but now it seems to be a bit better later on. If I’m tired it is definitely worse, so having a nap after work can help me sometimes. In the main though it is pretty much constant and I’m so glad I can work from home and be close to my fridge, bed and bathroom! 😂

Hope everyone is doing ok. Have a good weekend and enjoy the sun if you have it ☀️

wombats · 21/04/2018 16:51

Thanks lovelies! Dame, what luck to have one and one! Does big sister know yet?

Decaf, my nausea was worst in morning but has been stretching out more through the day, usually better by lunch if not dinner. I also wake up early with stomach hunger-burning-pain feelings and need to eat, I have read this is a sort of morning sickness? I also had two days of wretched nausea, could barely walk, but think this was part of a migraine.

Rational, glad you've got a good system worked out. Are you still doing the wristbands?

OP posts:
TryingToStayRational · 21/04/2018 18:08

Yeah I’m still using the bands. Had to go out without them last night for a couple of hours as was wearing short sleeves and would have aroused suspicion from my friends who don’t know yet, and I felt way worse by the time I got home. Feeling sick at night is horrid, it’s like there is no escape! I have been having some yogurt a short time before going to bed to stave off the sickness as I try to get to sleep, and then once I’m off I seem to be ok til 3, get up for a wee and have a good drink of water, then manage til about 7:30 before I have to get up again. Last weekend I even managed to have a bit of cereal and milk and then go back to bed and sleep a couple more hours - result!

Bruges21 · 22/04/2018 09:04

Wombats, decaf, dame great to hear the good news on scans and screening tests. Each one is another great milestone reached.

Hope everyone is getting some sun and managing to relax a bit this weekend despite anxiety and sickness etc! Had a big wobble couple of days ago when I was just totally convinced the scan will be bad news, but managed to calm down since then and stay more neutral about it. Still no strong symptoms but feeling bloated, get full really easily, burping lots and crying at the drop of a hat, mainly at silly things on the TV! All seems worse in the evening too.

Have a good Sunday everyone x

becky114 · 22/04/2018 09:11

@Bruges21 I am at that stage today, my first scan is tomorrow and I'm dreading bad news, can't help torturing myself. Since the other day absolutely no sickness so not sure if it was just the congestion from my cough. My boobs aren't sore and I just fear the worst. I'm feeling really tearful and I just want tomorrow over with

Bruges21 · 22/04/2018 09:42

Becky sorry you're having a bad morning. I could have written your post myself, know exactly how you feel. This waiting really is awful isn't it. Have you got any nice plans for today? I'm finding keeping busy so my mind is distracted with other things is really helping. Otherwise I'm just worrying and focusing on negatives which is getting me wound up.

We have to keep remembering every woman and pregnancy is different. Some have loads of symptoms and sadly have a bad outcome, others feel fine and everything goes smoothly. At least it's not long to wait now for us both. What time is your scan and do you have day off work?xx

becky114 · 22/04/2018 09:48

@Bruges21 we are going to go to the garden centre to get some flowers, hopefully the rain will hold off. We will have dinner and do some gardening. Don't think I can deal with being shut in watching television if the rain starts like it suggests. I will go bed early to hoping that I fall asleep. My scan is at 11.00am, when's yours? Xxx

TryingToStayRational · 22/04/2018 09:52

Awww becky sorry you’re feeling so worried. Lots of people don’t have any symptoms at all so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything. My best friend had her IVF baby a couple of weeks ago and she never even felt queasy during pregnancy. Totally understandable to be worried though, we all get anxious before scans. Hope all goes well and you are soon feeling reassured Smile

Bruges hope the same for you too! I’m terrible for crying at things at the best of times. A bit of DIY SOS and I’m gone! 😂 Must steer clear of the London marathon today or I’ll be a total mess!
