BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

Decaf, what a nice idea to wait until the letter. And great that you can open it with zero worry.
Hobbes, if you don’t see what you want from the CDB it might not mean anything — I think I‘ve seen more people on the pregnancy boards saying that the week indicator didn’t work in their successful pregnancy than those saying it did.

DameSylvieKrin · 10/05/2018 19:21

Wombats, I had a complete lack of any movement for 48 hours, which made me wish I‘d never noticed it in the first place! But today I felt some tiny prods, still blink and you‘d miss them but definitely there. As you see, you can still find plenty to worry about!

Melaniesunflower · 10/05/2018 21:08

I'm 11 weeks tomorrow

TryingToStayRational · 11/05/2018 13:40

Good luck for your scan, Wombats Smile

Barcelo18 · 11/05/2018 15:36

Hello all

I’ve finally had a bfp after failed attempts at ivf. Had my early scan today at 8 weeks and we currently have a little bean in there. Was so lovely to see it’s kittle heart beating away after all these years of trying and heartache. I still can’t quite believe it and am staying grounded as I realise we still have a long way to go. I had had two embryos put in but I have had some bleeding and they think this may have been me losing this little bean but just got to focus on this little one inside me at the moment. This was our last go so I’m just praying that everything will work out for us at long last x

TryingToStayRational · 11/05/2018 16:18

Welcome Barcelo and congratulations. Everything crossed for you and your bean.

wombats · 11/05/2018 18:54

Welcome Barcelona and congrats on the scan today. Fingers crossed for your little bean!

Good news here, scan went well and Harmony bloods done. Baby is measuring properly, good nasal bone, and good heartbeat. Was very active and "waving" for the scan. Doctor said technically 2 days too early to do Nuchal scan but off the record looked fine. Really in disbelief but also quite relieved! Now just the long wait for the bloods, really hope they come sooner than 10 business days!

Thanks for the good wishes and hope everyone else is doing alright. Becky, have you had anymore spotting?
Melanie, any scan date yet?
Hobbes, how are you getting on?
Rational, how's the sickness?

Sorry if I've left anyone off, on my phone and a bit delirious from the scan! Xx

Hello all,

Just catching up on everyone's news. Hasn't been scanxiety keeping me off the boards but work, which is good as the last week has flown by!

Hobbes - Congratulations. Totally understand your nervousness but keeping everything crossed for you.

Decaf- Huge congratulations on the NIPt results! What an utter relief. Hope you have some lovely weekend plans an can properly relax for a bit now.

Bruges- How are you feeling? My sickness seemed to ramp up from 9 weeks and is still bad now and I'm 10+2 now. Hate feeling sick but it does reassure me at the same time.

Becky - sorry about your scare. Hope the spotting has stayed away?

Wombats - Have been thinking about you. How did your scan go today?

Barcelo - Welcome and congrats. It must have been amazing seeing the heartbeat after what you have been through.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and have nice weekend plans?

I am doing okay. Like I said, work has taken my mind off things a bit. I have another scan and Harmony test on Monday morning which I am starting to feel nervous about. I haven't bought any maternity clothes yet as don't need them although my boobs are huge and covered in blue veins which is attractive! The nausea is making me crave junk food and beige carbs so imagine I will need to go a size or two in clothing at least soon!

TryingToStayRational · 11/05/2018 20:28

Yay Wombats glad your scan was all fine! Hope you can enjoy your weekend feeling nice and relaxed Smile

Glad you’re doing ok Daisy. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will fly just as quickly for you!

I’m feeling v tired and pretty rubbish today - had a bit of a meltdown earlier when I was hungry and DP was supposed to be making our evening meal (I’ve done it every night for about a fortnight so it was about blimmin time) but he was faffing about on Facebook. After much sobbing and snot he did apologise and make something pretty sharpish. Have told him he needs to do more to help because I’m really struggling at the moment and he’s mostly oblivious in his own little world. Fridays are always the worst because I’m just exhausted from the week and that makes me feel more sick. Desperately hoping week 12 brings a bit more energy cos I’m so fed up of not being able to do anything apart from working from home. Feeling really lonely and down about it tbh. Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow after a good lie in.

DameSylvieKrin · 11/05/2018 20:35

Glad the scan went well, Wombats! I just went out to buy another seeded loaf (spelt, with sunflower seeds) and was thinking of you.
Welcome Barcelo!

DameSylvieKrin · 11/05/2018 20:38

X post, Rational, I hope you‘ve got some nice dinner in you and that your weekend goes uphill from here.

Bruges21 · 12/05/2018 07:15

Great scan news wombats, hope you don't have to wait too long for blood results.
Rational sorry to hear how you felt yesterday and hope today brings better things and you've got some sleep.

I had to take a day off yesterday because still being sick and just felt awful every time I got up from lying down. My DH got me some seabands which I put on in middle of night when I felt nauseous, seem to have helped or could be a coincidence as feel better so far this morning!

Welcome and congratulations on your scan barcelo, and hi to everyone else! x

Decafplease · 12/05/2018 17:22

Welcome & congrats barcelo!
Great scan news wombats.
rational hope you are having a better day?
I’ve been resting this weekend- got a migraine. Would get random migraines before, but since bfp, get one ever 28 days exactly. But as long as it doesn’t distress the little bean i can put up with it.
Hi to everyone else
X

Hobbes39 · 13/05/2018 08:07

Hi - just to say I'll be prob drop off the board again as I think this is another one that's gone wrong. My CBD are still only 1-2 weeks and I'm getting less tender breasts than I had... it just doesn't feel right. I think the oestrogen and progesterone is the only thug keeping period away. Will beg for bloods tomorrow to check. Don't think I'm ever going to get back on to this board now, but so so hard to let go when we've got so close. Good luck to you all x

Bruges21 · 13/05/2018 09:44

Hi Hobbes, I'm so sorry to hear you're in this limbo. I really hope you can get an answer soon one way or the other with a blood test. It's such a horrible rollercoaster of emotions. You just never know, some people just have a slow starting HCG but everything is fine so I really hope that's you. Please let us know how you're getting on Flowers.

wombats · 13/05/2018 10:53

Hobbes sorry to hear you're going through this. Definitely push for another beta, as it's such early days. Will be thinking of you Flowers

Decaf I've only had one migraine since being pregnant, was quite painful with awful nausea! Used the 4head menthol stick and frozen peas and seemed to help.

Bruges sorry you're feeling so poorly, hope you're feeling a bit better today. Read that this week (from 11 to 12) baby will double in weight and grow another centimetre, so I reckon the hormones are surging right now.

Rational sorry you're feeling so low. I've been feeling lonely too, not socialising as feeling so poorly (and of course not drinking) but haven't told anyone I'm pregnant. Plus the nerves and worry and knackered so a bit glued to the sofa. Hope your DH has been helping a bit more and second trimester nausea relief comes quickly.

Thanks for thinking of me Dame, been loving spelt lately too! Currently working on a seeded sourdough, the tanginess is fab for my nausea.

Daisy glad you've been able to keep busy with work, passing the time is quite difficult! Everything crossed for your scan tomorrow.

How's everyone else getting on? @Becky? @Winnie?

I'm 11+0 tomorrow, only have two Cyclogest left so decided to space them out to once per day. Feeling much more relaxed after scan, but that is somewhat terrifying in its own right. TMI question: anyone else having nipple discharge? I've noticed these sort of tiny little dried flakes in my nipples, can sort of pluck them out but then will notice them again the next day. Having it on both sides, don't see any blood or anything wet, no odour or mucous or anything Confused

Sending good thoughts to all.

@Hobbes39 I really wouldn't put all your faith into the digital pregnancy tests they are not reliable. The only thing that is going to let you know either way at present is a blood test.

Ever since my discharge all my symptoms have gone, I had morning sickness for a week, nothing now. Boobs are fine, but have been since the start . The only thing that is consistent is the odd twinge in my stomach. I don't know whether I'm coming or going, sometimes I feel positive and other times hopeless. Haven't had my 12 week scan through yet either. I'm just so fed up. Tried to use a home Doppler today but couldn't find anything, although know it's still early at 10+1

becky114 · 13/05/2018 20:54

I FOUND THE HEARTBEAT 💗 182bpm, was a lot lower down than I expected it to be and I had to stand up and slightly bend a bit, so relieved! My friend is an obstetrician and confirmed it's the heartbeat but then encouraged me not to use Doppler in later pregnancy as baby's heart eventually slows down and can be mistaken for mums heartbeat but for now I'm so happy. I will use the Doppler until I feel movement. Xxx

TryingToStayRational · 13/05/2018 21:15

Hobbes I’m really sorry you have such a bad feeling. I hope it turns out to be ok somehow for you Flowers

Everyone else - sorry have disappeared a bit. Just really struggling at the moment and feeling a bit ground down after so many weeks of not being able to do much. Managed lunch with a friend earlier so that was good. Feeling quite worried about NIPT result as well so that’s probably not helping. Really hope we hear tomorrow - it has only been 10 days (and that includes a bank hol and 2 wknds to be fair) but it feels like such a long wait!

All the best to you all, hope you’re feeling as chilled as possible.

Ps Tonight is my final cyclogest! You are the only people I can tell who will understand what a relief that is. Sorry if TMI! 😆

Hobbes39 · 14/05/2018 11:25

Hi - had blood test the am, so just waiting for result late this afternoon.. 🤞 I hope I'm just being paranoid...
They were really nice to me at the clinic - I just turned up and burst into tears when explaining - the nurse was really understanding - they know me far too well by now after so many cycles, I think they are actually nervous for me too.

@becky114 - that's lovely news! Must be so SO nice to hear. I think given my current state of mind I'd be using it all the time if I were far enough on to hear a heart beat, so probably a good thing I don't have a Doppler if this does progress. X

wombats · 14/05/2018 13:27

Hobbes, glad you were able to get the bloods sorted. Have everything crossed for you xx

OP posts:
Hobbes39 · 14/05/2018 13:31

Thanks @wombats - blood test result came back as having doubled fine! I'm still here, in with a chance! I can't quite believe it. Levels are still low - 247, but that's 4 days on from first test which was 56, so doubled every 2 days! There's a long way to go now, but I have no more pregnancy tests and I'm not buying anymore - now I'm just going to try to forget about it as much as I can for the the next 2.5 weeks til the scan... 🤞

becky114 · 14/05/2018 13:42

@Hobbes39 congrats. The digital tests are rubbish xxx

TryingToStayRational · 14/05/2018 14:09

Hobbes that is brilliant news. Definitely step away from the tests! It’s so hard waiting but we’ve all been there and understand. Hope you can sleep better tonight 😊

Hobbes39 · 14/05/2018 14:14

Thanks @TryingToStayRational & @becky114 - sorry for the panic.
I am very lucky that I have a (naturally conceived) DS who will be 5 this year. I think back to how naive I was back then - and miss it horribly!
We have been trying more than 3 years now for a sibling and this is our 6th transfer (3 fresh, 3 frozen) and I had a MMC on the last fresh one, so I'm a jangle of nerves... thanks for the support x
