PGD treatment

Hello

I’m 29 and have just started PGD treatment. Both myself and my partner are fertile so we are hoping this works in our favour with the treatment. He has a genetic mutation which creates tumours so we are going down this road to prevent our children having the same gene. I wondered if anyone here has had this treatment? 3rd day in and I’m very nauseous! Hot sweats at night and general poorly feeling. Has anyone else experienced this?

Would love to hear from anyone who has had successful births with PGD too :-)

Thanks in advance,
Bek x

@Ginandtonic31 I will give absolutely everything crossed for you! It sounds good so try to stay on the positive 👍

I find it mind blowing that it can be so different!

@hoppy1985 I had more follicles to start with this time. Double I think. And then last time after a week nothing had happened so I don’t think they ever caught up. This time they just grew steadily over the 13 days. I was surprised that 25 were mature. I thought that maybe 15 would have been as on the Monday there were around 14 follicles that looked at a good size.

@Ginandtonic31 out of interest what were you told was a good size? I feel like I've missed being told loads of indicators.

@Hoppy1985 I think they get you ready for EC when you’ve got some over 18. I think on Monday 2 were over 18 with others not far behind so by EC Friday others had caught up. I’m not really told a great deal but I just kind of trust them to know!

@Ginandtonic31 that's absolutely fantastic! So chuffed for you. I still can't believe how different that was to your first go. I wish I responded that well to the drugs. Well you can chill out now because you're defo going to have some good ones ❤️

Yeah ok, today's only day 3 so a while to go yet! I gave my first follicle scan next Friday.

@Hoppy1985 I daren’t get excited in case there aren’t any unaffected!! Or they don’t implant and have to start again. Thinking too far ahead!! One step at a time.

You might respond to the drugs better this time! I’m so shocked as last time I didn’t respond at all and this time wham!! Complete opposite.

Let me know how you get on on Friday at your scan!

@Ginandtonic31 you've got to get a few good ones with that many!

Good luck tomorrow @Hoppy1985! Make sure you update.

@Ginandtonic31 do you mind me asking why you had to go down the PGD route?x

@Hoppy1985 my husband has a gene that results in a disease called Hirschprungs Disease. To put it as simply as I can, the baby is born without nerves in the intestine so can't go to the t I let normally and it all backs up.

@Ginandtonic31 sounds nasty. Well you've plenty of chances now. Did they give you any indication what grade the embryos are?

Report
Ginandtonic31 · 14/03/2019 21:32

@Hoppy1985 no I didn't ask. I'm happy to trust they will pick the best ones to transfer. I did forget to ask the accuracy of the test though!

@Ginandtonic31 I didn't know last time and now I think maybe it might just have made me stress more if I knew anyway!

Your results came back so quickly! A couple of weeks? Was it longer first time?

Report
Ginandtonic31 · 14/03/2019 21:47

@Hoppy1985 yeah I don't think I want to know. I'm just going to trust they will pick a good one out of the 11!

Only 7 days! I was told 2-3 weeks. Last time it was just over two months but my probe wasn't built and we were told 3-6 months. So that was sooner too.

Hoppy1985 · 16/03/2019 19:12

@Ginandtonic31 ok I think? They counted 20 follicles, a few 20mm +
They want me to go in for EC on Monday morning.

@Hoppy1985 mine was at 10pm 😴 do you feel ok? I couldn't feel anything this round.

Report
Hoppy1985 · 16/03/2019 23:37

@Ginandtonic31 I feel totally fine which I think is how I remember my first round. The second one where they upped my gonal f to 300 I felt quite rough and my abdomen was really bloated and tender.

Ginandtonic31 · 17/03/2019 12:20

@Hoppy1985 it's strange as when I was on a lower dose I felt in pain and full and then this time on a slightly higher dose with more follicles I felt for me!
