I was the same Aly, I was crying when I first went in as I was so nervous but they were so lovely and reassuring! All I remember was putting my legs in the stirrups and being given oxygen mask, BP monitor etc, them checking mine and partners name loads of times, closing my eyes then waking up in recovery!

Summerloving17 · 29/01/2018 12:54

Hi ladies,
Sorry for being MIA!

So pleased that your ER went well SJH, thats a great number!

Sounds really promising too Aly, I can't wait to get to that stage!

Hope you got some good news today peekaboo, everything crossed.

I am day 7 of my high dose stimm, had a scan saturday and I had 14 eggs but all too small. Going back Wednesday so hoping they will have grown by then! I had quite bad back and what I think were ovary pains last week although seems to have settled down today- did anyone else have anything similar?

xx

Summerloving17 · 29/01/2018 12:56

Also I have gained 5lbs in the last two weeks too, not eaten anything different so hoping its just water retention from the stimms?? Has the same happened to anyone else?

I am now over a stone heavier than when I started my first iui two years ago and it's really getting me down :(

hoping2018 · 29/01/2018 13:25

Hi all, glad to hear all the updates - it really does help! I'm Day 6 of stims - hot flushes have settled a bit which is a massive relief as I was getting no sleep with them. @Summerloving17 I'm with you on the weight gain- I'd been working really hard for first few weeks of Jan and lost 3lbs only to put 3 lbs back on already in the few days I'm been stimming. So horribly bloated already and some twinges - hopefully that's a good sign (terrified of cancellation as I have diminished ovarian reserve and time is not on my side) x

Sjh84 · 30/01/2018 09:46

Hi all,

Just had the phonecall that 7 of my 11 eggs fertilised, I was shaking when I answered the call!

I was the same with bloating during the stims and I’m still quite bloated after ER. I havent weighed but none of my usual clothes fit!

Summerloving17 · 30/01/2018 10:00

Ah great news!!! You must be so relieved!

Honestly this process is just so stressful, one minute I'm excited the next in tears (or maybe it's just me!) I'm stressing now that I don't feel the pains anymore!!! I'm glad it's not just me with the bloating!

Is everyone going to put one or two back? I think my clinic prefers one but interested in your views too. My friend had two put back in on her first attempt but only one survived so I'm interested!

Sjh84 · 30/01/2018 10:47

You’re not alone in the emotional side, it’s all the hormones and the strain of the process! I was so worried last night about how many would fertilise yet desperate to hear!

I’m having one put back in, it’s what my clinic prefers for my age and first attempt.

FabulousTumbleweed · 30/01/2018 13:07

Hello all

There's been a lot of activity here since I last checked in.

I hope that you have had some good news Hoping since your last post and that some of your follicles have rallied round.

Good news Sjh that's a great amount. I know what you mean about the phone call, though my DH was far more nervous than me.

Hope all goes well at your ER tomorrow Aly. Good luck.

I must confess that I haven't even as much as looked at my scales since I started my cycle as I know I won't like what I see, especially since I started bang on at Christmas. This is also probably the first year I haven't been trying(and failing) to diet in January. I keep telling myself that a bit of weight doesn't matter right now if it means we finally get a little one. Smile

My latest news is that I'm now firmly in 2WW territory as of yesterday. I was told on day 3 by the clinic that I had 8 good embryos on the go so they wanted to go for a day 5 transfer . When I got to the clinic, to my surprise, it turned out I had 9 blasts for them to choose from. I guess one must have had a late growth spurt to become a contender over the weekend. I was told that they'd decide which of the remaining ones would be suitable to freeze and that not all would make it, but as of this morning all 8 of them have now been frozen.

Summerloving17 · 30/01/2018 14:52

Ah Tumbleweed, how exciting!!! I love the PUPO term- pregnant until proven otherwise! What advise did they give you? Did they make you lie down for a certain amount of time afterwards?

I think I only measured my weight this time as it has really got to me over the last few years, trying to work out whether my weight gain has been due to the drugs, lack of exercise or eating too much chocolate when I had my previous negative results/ ectopic! Agree it will definitely be worth it!!

I am trying to distract myself from counting down to my appointment tomorrow. Have got quite bad back pains again so hoping a good sign!

Sjh84 · 30/01/2018 19:43

Ooh exciting fabuloustumbleweed! Fingers crossed and hope the wait goes quickly! Its good you have 8 frozen too Smile - how did you find the time between collection and transfer? I still feel tired and yukky.

Good luck for tomorrow summerloving - my twinges stopped/started too and it’s so tempting to over think what they mean!

When is your scan hoping?

Good luck for ER tomorrow Aly - hope you are totally out of it like I was Grin

Hoping that peekaboo had some positive news on Monday x

Peekaboo81 · 30/01/2018 20:07

Hi ladies, just wanted to say good luck and goodbye. Unfortunately my scan on Monday showed i still only had 1 follicle and so I did not respond to the ivf drugs so my ivf cycle has been cancelled. My doctor said my chances of responding with ivf are too low to justify the cost as i have low egg reserve of 4.8 at 36yrs old so I won't be pursuing ivf again unless I go down the donor egg route which is the only option left. Me and dh have a lot to think about in the coming months we just need a break for now and we will see what life brings us. I wanted to share my journey because I never thought ivf would not work for me and that I will not carry a child that is genetically mine, but such is life we don't always get what we want. In some ways we are lucky we didn't waste money on failed ivf cycles and now know donor eggs are our only option, I just need to get used to the idea. Babydust to you all, those of you with positive scans count your blessings I hope you hold your babies soon.

Summerloving17 · 30/01/2018 20:29

I'm so so sorry to hear that Peekaboo and can only start to imagine what you must be going through :(
Definitely take whatever time you need and be kind to yourself.

I know two ladies who went with donor eggs and haven't looked back so might be worth trying to speak to some people who have gone through it before deciding.

Massive hugs xx

Sjh84 · 30/01/2018 21:04

I’m so sorry to hear that @peekaboo81 - look after yourself for now and I agree with summerloving that it might be an idea to talk to others before deciding x

FabulousTumbleweed · 30/01/2018 21:23

I can only echo what everybody else has said Peekaboo. I’m so sorry to hear your news.

Summerloving17 · 31/01/2018 13:16

Not amazing news, have a huge cyst that is taking up most of my right ovary with only two medium ones on there. Left ovary has 4 that are 16mm ish so need to grow to at least 19mm. There are 3 others on there but they are 12mm so unless they have a growth spurt unlikely to be any good. Have to come back Friday morning probably, just wait for call this afternoon. Stressful!

Any updates from anyone else? Xx

HelloMist · 31/01/2018 15:37

I'm very sorry Peekaboo. Hope you can rest and take care of yourself. And seek advice when you feel ready to consider the donor option.

I was a bit disappointed with today's scan at first but am trying to be upbeat again now. It's no good comparing to others or to my previous cycles I suppose. I sound similar to you Summer, with 4 follicles >10mm on one side and none on the other. :/ There are a few others each side that look like they might catch up so they have increased my dose just slightly. She said slow and steady is good and that it's the quality that counts. Will keep trying to eat lots of protein as I've heard it can help and I want to feel like I'm doing something. (It's hard having no control over things!) At least there are some. Lining was 5.something so still needs to thicken up some more.

Do you need to go in for another scan on Friday, @Summerloving17? Was that your second scan? I do and probably still stim that night too, this was only my first.

HelloMist · 31/01/2018 15:42

How are you feeling Aly? Good news from Tumbleweed and Sjh Smile

Summerloving17 · 31/01/2018 15:45

@Hellomist, yes does sound similar and you can't help but be disappointed! I feel a bit better now too and looking at lots of babies on the way home reminded why I'm doing this!
I'm day 8 of 225 menopur and it was my second scan today. I imagine I will need at least the 12 days of this or a higher dose now, just waiting for my phone to ring to confirm what dose and whether to go back Friday or Saturday 🙈

Definitely quality not quantity though and I'm already eating "all the protein" so fingers crossed 😂

Aly82 · 31/01/2018 17:20

Hi, just some updates. My ER went well, they said I have 9 eggs.
Sjh84 you was right i don't remember a lot and wasn't painful.
Thank you for checking on me,
HelloMist I am ok.
Peekaboo I'm so sorry that you had bad news.

Sjh84 · 31/01/2018 18:34

Hi all,

Summerloving and hellomist - slow and steady is good, I stimmed for 12 days Smile

Glad your ER went well Aly! Take it easy and fingers crossed for good fertilisatiom tomorrow.

My ET is either tomorrow or Sat - they are going to phone me first thing to let me know. I’m hoping it’s Sat so I have a couple more days to recover - My digestion feels a bit sluggish. Had a lovely reflexology session to relax earlier, although I had to stop twice for a wee! Grin

hoping2018 · 31/01/2018 21:15

Hi all!
Wow it's been busy in here!

@Peekaboo81 I'm so sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine how you're feeling but we do understand all you've been through to get this point. I hope you and your partner are staying supportive to each other and stay strong in believing you will be happy and with a. Family one day even if it's maybe the way you expected.

@Summerloving17 sorry to hear about the cysts- I didn't even know that was a possibility!! By there are eggs there too right - can't they just get to them?! (This may be my lack of understanding?)

@FabulousTumbleweed 8 frozen embryos is amazing and I'll only be able to dream of those numbers! Can't believe you're in your 2ww already - fingers crossed firmly for you and let us know how you get on.

@HelloMist I agree for slow and steady wins the race! At least there's some action. When was your next scan?

@Sjh84 7 of 11 sounds promising! Hope your transfer is Saturday to give you a few days!

And finally @Aly82 9 eggs sounds great! Fingers crossed!

Phew! I think I'm all up to date.

I continue to be super bloated with lots of twinges and now (sorry if TMI) lots of EWCM and then some watery fertile mucus too. So I hope that's a good sign - I'm not hopeful for many eggs though as I've low AMH and high FSH so I'm thinking of I go to be realistic. Scan for me is Friday and then hopefully if all goes to plan collecting on Monday - my centre doesn't seem to scan very much compared to everyone else's? Very relieved to have finished work until egg collection though - my boss has had IVF so super supportive! X
