@hoping2018 I would just see how you're feeling. I'm actually a lot better today but still waddling when I'm walking and my tummy v swollen!!
If you have OHSS then you definitely will need time off but fingers crossed not!

@sjh can you test 9 days after 5day transfer or have they advised you longer than that? I'm feeling positive for you, plus it's pancake day so we can all celebrate for you eating pancakes 😂

Sjh84 · 06/02/2018 14:50

They’ve said to wait until test day on 17th in case of a false reading - I do like the idea of a pancake day celebration though Grin

Summerloving17 · 06/02/2018 14:58

Ah sorry I must have got dates mixed up! That seems a long time! I know my HCG trigger is usually out of my system after 10 days but it must vary per person.

I'm so impatient I bet I will test on the 19th but let's see what they say! Not too long to go now (although it feels like decades 👀)... I will still have pancakes for you 😀

Sjh84 · 06/02/2018 15:20

I’ll have pancakes for you too! 😄

FabulousTumbleweed · 06/02/2018 17:04

Sounds like you're on the right track summer. That's great that so many fertilised.

I took the day of and day after EC off just in case I suffered any ill effects from the sedation. On ET I just went in, got it done and then went back to work. I worry about taking too much time off work as I don't get sick pay and am using up holidays. I lucky that I don't have a stressful job though and my bosses are understanding. I work for a small company and I tend to just get on with things without much complaint, so as a result they are fine with me taking time off as long as the work gets done at the end of the day. If I'm not successful this round then I may look at maybe taking more time off to see if that helps.

I read something about Gatorade on the web too (I should really, really stop Googling absolutely everything Grin) and went out to buy some from Tesco before I realised I didn't really fancy drinking something that looks like it came out of a glow stick tube. I bought some fancy Lucozade branded smart water or sports water or whatever it's called instead. It tasted bizarre Confused. Wish I had found Aly's recipe when I needed it.

Diet wise, I haven't really changed it up much. I'm a bit of a crazy meal prepper and cook everything from scratch so I know I get plenty of protein and fruit/veg in my diet. I bought a fertility cookbook a few years ago but most of the ingredients were the weird crazy things you can only buy from health shops which cost a small fortune so I gave up on that pretty quickly.

hoping2018 · 07/02/2018 13:06

20 eggs collected - had a fair bit of pain and feeling grotty. Apprehension about how many fertilise doesn't help!

@Floofen was your ER today?! Hope you got on ok x

Summerloving17 · 07/02/2018 14:11

@Hoping2018, 20 eggs is amazing, well done you! Definitely take it easy now, I'm still sore today so does take time to recover. When will they call you with fertilisation numbers? At a 50% rate you would still have loads! Everything crossed for you! Are you going to try a transfer or have they advised freeze all?

Hope your collection goes well Floofen too

hoping2018 · 07/02/2018 14:22

Thanks @Summerloving17 they said that with those numbers they expect to go to day 5 transfer which also gives time to see if OHSS develops and then can decide nearer then. So I'm drinking lots as that's pretty much the only thing I can do! Xx

Summerloving17 · 07/02/2018 14:24

Ah everything crossed for you! Keep drinking 🤞Xx

HelloMist · 07/02/2018 20:57

I had 8 eggs collected today. Retrieval went OK. Tried to take it easy once I was home and managed to sleep a bit. Tonight I've taken the prescribed antibiotic, used crinone (progesterone) and injected my first ever fragmin (it's a blood thinner that they've suggested because of my previous MC and CP).

I'm anxious for the phone call tomorrow as fertilisation wasn't great last time.

Good luck hoping with your call and Floofen with EC tomorrow.

Sjh84 · 07/02/2018 22:36

Glad your ECs went well hoping and hellomist - fingers crossed for good fertilisation news tomorrow.

Good luck floofen for you EC tomorrow!

BeHereNow31 · 08/02/2018 07:47

Good news on all the eggs hoping and hello

floofen sending you lots of good thoughts for ec

My scan went well. So, likely to have ec next week. I feel really full on these stims!!! Should I be drinking more water, does that help? I gave quite a physical job and gets getting tough.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I’m not brilliant and remembering replying individually, but thinking of you all xx

hoping2018 · 08/02/2018 09:05

@HelloMist I imagine fertilisation rate changes per ivf cycle and is equally as hard to predict as the rest of it so fingers fairly crossed for you today. Likewise @Floofen hope ER goes well@BeHereNow31 bloated sounds like a good sign - were you pleased with your scan?

I've just had my phone call of 20 14 were mature and all 14 fertilised (with ICSI) which is fabulous news. Now just need to keep by sanity up to day 5 - this waiting is AWFUL not helped by feeling so gritty and not wanting to do anything!

HelloMist · 08/02/2018 10:05

Only 4 of 8 eggs were mature and just 2 fertilised. They want me to go in for day 2 transfer tomorrow. They do see pregnancies from day 2 ones. I'm disappointed with the numbers Sad but at least we get to transfer at all! Smile This could still work. I'd appreciate a bit of hand holding though. I'll only have one put back but if the other is dividing correctly maybe it can be frozen.

That's great hoping, wow 100% fertilisation rate!

BeHereNow glad your scan went well! Do drink plenty of water. Think it helps with side effects and reducing chance of ohss. Anyone know if that's why? My full feeling came and went but perhaps you have more follicles.

Summerloving17 · 08/02/2018 10:23

@Hellomist, I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get what you were hoping for but it does only take one so everything crossed for you! Hopefully you will have a front runner on day 2 so you know you have your best chance. I do know someone who only got one but it worked so keep positive!

@Hoping2018, amazing news! How are you feeling today? Fingers crossed you can have a transfer this cycle too

How are you both feeling @fabuloustumbleweed and sjh?

Hope all went well Floofen

hoping2018 · 08/02/2018 10:24

Hi @HelloMist sorry you're disappointed by your numbers. This whole process is so hard. As you say at least there is a chance though - otherwise they wouldn't suggest it! Is there a reason by don't put both back in on day 2? More than happy to handhold from afar - let us know how your transfer goes tomorrow xx

@BeHereNow31 yes make sure you're drinking plenty - I got told by one person at the fertility clinic to drink lots but in the same sentence she said not too much as you'll "hold onto it all". So didn't have that much confidence in her advice!

Saw someone a bit more senior for my scan on Monday who said if OHSS is a risk ou must drink drink drink. OHSS is caused by too many hormones and the only way to get rid of the hormones is weeing them out - drinking is the last thing I feel like doing but boy am I doing it! Really helped to hear the logic behind it all xx

FabulousTumbleweed · 08/02/2018 10:42

Hi Summer. I'm doing fine. Five days till I test. I notice different symptoms every day. I am itching to test, but I read that the trigger injection hormones need to work their way out my system otherwise I could get a false positive because they're the same ones that the tests detect. I guess this is why my test date feels so far away. But, on the bright side, I'm over the 2WW hump. Only five more days to go. Helps that I've suddenly gotten really busy at work so my days pass faster.

Great news Hoping! Can't believe they all fertilised. That's awesome.

I know that you are disappointed in your numbers Hello, but like the other posters have said, you only need the one for it to work.

Hope all goes well at your EC today Floofen.

HelloMist · 08/02/2018 11:28

Thanks everyone. Smile

@hoping2018 I think the clinic would offer to put 2 back but it depends on quality and my age etc. Last time they advised it because the quality of both was low but we still didn't want to risk twins. I've got a toddler already and I'm not sure how easily we would cope. The increased chance of pregnancy is small but the chance of twins or even triplets is much higher. It can be risky for mother and baby(ies) in pregnancy as well. I think the chance of twins is lower before day 5 and for an older woman however. There's recent research that suggests if one embryo is lower quality than the other it may result in neither implanting. In theory saving one might give me another shot (a FET) whereas transferring both might blow my chances in one go. It's a hard decision though and I'm glad you got me googling again to confirm how I feel...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/2742520-one-embryo-or-two was a good thread on the subject.

Glad you're hanging in there Tumbleweed.

Summerloving17 · 08/02/2018 13:07

@Fabuloustumbleweed, well done! I am not good at waiting and I have already ordered myself a stash of first response tests 🙈 What I did for all my Iui was to test from day 9 onwards and I saw the line disappear when trigger left my system and reappear (for my ectopic) otherwise disappear. I always knew it hadn't worked as well as could feel my mood rapidly drop, although not sure now with the extra hormones I'm taking that the drop would happen as artificially sustained! At least you know if you wait that whatever result you get is real (and you save a small fortune lol)

Tough decision @Hellomist, I would probably decide after speaking to embryologist tomorrow.

Xx

Floofen · 08/02/2018 14:55

Hey everyone

Awesome to see you guys getting EC out of the way and moving on to ET. Crossing my fingers for you all.

Had EC this morning, and they retrieved 7 eggs. I had 22 follicles, but only 7 little eggs appeared during the EC. Still that's not too bad a number I hope. My OH did his business so we find out tomorrow whether we got embryos.

I feel relaxed weirdly knowing its in their hands. Almost like the hardest bit is out of the way! Hope I get at least one frozen embryo out of this too.

@hellomist good luck with your ET, let us know how you get on.

@fabuloustumbleweed good luck to you too, glad it's almost over xx

BeHereNow31 · 08/02/2018 19:48

hoping that’s an amazing number. Hope you are feeling ok after ec. Sounds like it would be uncomfy after that.

hello sorry to hear about your news. There is still a chance of it all working out though. Fingers crossed for you.

floofen that’s is a good number! How are you feeling? Hope there’s no pain. I had one frozen, after 6 eggs were collected.

Hope all going well for those on the 2ww. What are you doing to cope with the wait?

My scan was good. My lining was a lot thicker than when I had my last cycle. And that was a worry of mine. I’m trying to eat lots of protein. But struggling. I feel full, and had bad headache today. Not long left to go now tho xx

Floofen · 09/02/2018 09:21

We just heard that 3 fertilised out of 7, and they're now saying they will do a 2 day transfer, possibly tomorrow. They mentioned putting 2 back, but it depends on the next 24 hours. 3 feels like a low number but I guess it's enough to give us a chance. Trying to move around a bit but still sore from EC, did anyone else this?

Sjh84 · 09/02/2018 09:40

Morning everyone,

beherenow - yes drink plenty although unfortunately the latter part of stims is uncomfortable! It must be difficult with a physical job so take care! Good news about your lining.

Good luck for your transfer today hellomist.

Hope the next 24 houra goes well for your embryos floofen. I found I was uncomfortable for a few days after EC but not pain.

I cant believe that tomorrow will be a week post transfer, it’s gone quite quickly! I bet next week will drag leading up to test day though! I have a buay week in work planned plus will try and catch up with some friends.

HelloMist · 09/02/2018 10:01

Floofen you are in a similar boat to me then with my 2. I am doing day 2 transfer. With these numbers the safest place for the embryo(s) to be is back inside us. Growing them to day 5 is partly a selection tool when there are more to choose from. Hopefully some or all will look promising tomorrow ready for your transfer.

Last night I felt very bloated (visibly so) and it was quite uncomfortable walking and sore at times but feels more normal this morning. Maybe there is some swelling Floofen. But ring the nurses if you're worried.

Good that time has gone quickly sjh! Dreading the wait.

Good news about your scan BeHereNow. :)

hoping2018 · 09/02/2018 12:44

Hi all,

Having had 14 fertilise call this morning said only 8 are going strong. We paid for time lapse monitoring of a photo every 10 minutes and this has shown 6 of them did something funny and jumped from 1 cell to 3 cell and therefore are less likely to be good quality.

What I'm baffled by is despite having 8 that look good they want to go for a 3 day transfer tomorrow with the "front runner" - they said "the best place to be is inside you". Everything I can find online says day 5 is better - anyone got any experience or words of wisdom?!

The worst thing is she said if I feel strongly we can do a day 5 transfer - but I don't feel I have been given the information to make this decision!!

Argh!! I was feeling pretty good prior to this phone call and feeling happy it was all out of my hands!!

What day transfer did all you in the 2ww do?!
