IVF buddies September /October continued, heading into November & wearing VERY comfy stretchy leggings & trousers (perfect for Xmas too!!)

Foods to avoid during ivf.. soup?! Huh?! Or it meant to be just tin pre-made one? I am confused

Morning everyone!!

Well I am loathe to tempt fate but it is 11am and so far I am not sick yet.... it may be because I am still in bed But today I am 9 weeks exactly and they said it would get better after 9 weeks. I bloody hope so, I have spent too much time hugging the toilet :( I feel like I should give it a name. Tom the toilet??

Anyway, Aliona that diagram is completely confusing... wtf was the consultant trying to show you!! It looks like lego bricks in a balloon lol. It does sound like a long time away but I bet it will come really quickly!! In the meantime you can eat all the sushi and drink all the gin!! That is, if Minster leaves any Sounds like someone was having fun last night!!!

I hear you on the stares... I had surgery to realign my jaw a few years ago, and had stitches all over my face in random spots, also was so swollen and bruised, I felt like Frankenstein’s monster. People just stare... So rude. I remember sitting on the bus and this woman was just staring at me not blinking, I bet wondering if I had been in a fight, so I got my phone out and started taking pictures of her...

Also... I love how you are working on images of people still!! And yes I am very pale, but most Irish people are... no more clues hehehe

Minster Weds is so soon... I can’t belibe how pushy the other surrogates in that Facebook group were. How horrid for your friend :( Testing early helps nobody. I hope she’s ok?? How are you holding out?? I love the northern-ness!! I am in the north too but living on the opposite side of the pennines to where I grew up... so not quite home. How are you holding up? It must be so hard, being so close... thinking of you lots, I have everything crossed!!!

Star You are French!! I wouldn’t have guessed!! I did suspect you weren’t British origin, but I was going for Canadian actually, as you remind me of a lovely friend of mine from there!! I spent a lot of time in France as a child, I used to speak it well but switched to German after having a German boyfriend for many years... Now I just make stupid sentences that are half French half German and it’s just all wrong.

On to your second injection already, that’s so exciting!! Hope you’re feeling ok and not too many side effects? You seem to be taking it all in your stride... maybe all the meditation and reflexology should be provided with treatment for every lady!!!

Dbear You should start writing a food guide!! Those are great recommendations!! I work in London a lot but admit that I go between Kings Cross and the office then back again. I find it quite exhausting being there, but now my BIL has moved there so maybe we will visit more (except he is never in the country lol).

What Hi I don’t think we’ve met!! Our clinic just tel you to pee test too, using pink dye test rather than blue. I had a superdrug one ready but the OHSS was my test!! I have everything crossed for you, hope you get a positive result!!

Rose Ditto to you!! I honestly wouldn’t worry about the knock, it is probably more like your lower abdominal muscles that took the hit, and they are fairly robust. Also unless the kid is future Popeye I doubt they could do much damage ;)

Atik How are you doing?? Hope you don’t get too stressed out about holding your pee!! Maybe you need to try Star’s meditation to distract yourself from the feeling?! It will all be worth it once you get your embryo on board!! And gosh you are so young!! I am 10 years older... I still don’t feel like a grown up though lol. I still think “am I responsible enough to have a kid??”

Did I get everyone?? I hope so!! I think I’ll stay in bed a bit longer today... We are going to escape over to my parents house later, and then we have have a lovely warm clean house to ourselves... they are on holiday!!! So exciting!! Except we have to leave the cats behind and my poor cats have been so snuggly lately, not sure if it’s the cold or if they can tell I am pregnant?

Oh btw I had my midwife appt on Thurs, I am triple high risk So consultant care for me. Annoying as it means that I have to go to a particular hospital that is not the nicest. Also I am worried they will be all
about the interventions... I have quite fixed ideas about what I want to happen if I am going to get a baby out of my body!! Midwife was very nice though and said things can change (hmm yes I will get younger over time lol)

Anyway I’m going to have a nap then get up before we go to my parents house. Hope you are all ok and having a nice weekend ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Aliona Soup??? Really??!! I have been living on clear broth!! Maybe they mean tinned soup as it can be very high in salt and sugar?? How weird!!

Last message from me... I think that picture must be not from the UK as growth hormones for cows are not allowed here, or anywhere in EU actually. So maybe in countries where cow hormones are used they also have weird stuff in soup???

Hey Dinks! Fingers crossed the sickness will go away soon and you can enjoy being pregnant 🙃 I know this soup story is weird. Maybe really they only mean tin soup and who knows what’s in there. I was brought up with idea that soup can cure any sickness.

dinks sooo glad you are feeling a bit better!! Really good to hear! High risk isn’t ideal, but extra monitoring is a good thing overall. You’ll be able to get to know your mudslide team over time and sort out a plan and get to where you want...though don’t forget best laid plans n all , most babies don’t give a stuff about them! 🤣🤣

aliona I thought u were better than reading stuff like what not to eat! Do you think it makes a difference?

I’m coping ok but at the end of the day though I do totally trust my friend I will have no idea if she has tested or not but I really don’t think she will have!!

Aliona I am sorry!!!! I am really impressed you make your own sushi though!! You should buy everything that is banned in pregnancy and eat all of it to pass the time between now and December.

You know I had the same thought about sex during IVF process... Especially as you have had to wait so long.

Minster This process has taught me to always expect the unexpected 😂😂😂 Any possible side effect seems to have found its way to me, so I am just going to go with it!! I don’t mind extra scans and monitoring, I just don’t like being told what to do, esp by consultants who need some manners!! Hopefully they will be nice consultants... I will give them a chance to prove themselves ;) I bet you must have a whole lot of experience with consultants and hospitals though? I guess you just go with it?

Dinks it is confusing when they say no unprotected S beforeEC and then u sit here for a month after and think “is it still not ok?” Bcoz on that sketch it says no unpr sex from day one of December period so I reckon it’s ok.. but then I think what if I get pregnant and what if it’s not gonna survive and then I miss my fet. To much for my head.. I should go out and get my sushi ingredients instead 😅 and wine!
By the way I can’t imagine you getting assy with doctors, just imagine you very calm and polite lol but I haven’t been good at this guessing game so far 😂

WhatWot sorry to hear that. Must be worrying as hell. But dr Google says “implantation bleedin can happen between 3-7 days post embryo transfer”, so let’s have everything crossed that’s the reason why 😘

WhatWot 😔😔 it’s very upsetting, when I was miscarriying doctors were saying “don’t worry it might be normal”, but I knew it wasn’t. I really hope it’s nothing bad. But do you have a plan B? Anything frozen?

@Aliona, unfortunately no, this is our last cycle on the NHS and we only got 1 embryo out of 9 eggs.

whatwot although I don’t know of course I can imagine being on constant knicker watch, I’d be obsessive about it, but I agree with Aliona, implantation can be around now because it all depends what stage the embryo was & so many other things. Spotting isn’t too worrying, obviously a “flow” would be but spotting could be a good sign so don’t count yourself out. We’re here for support if u feel crap

aliona I agree that its all so confusing, my friend asked the same thing prior to ET, about having sex & they said basically no, but we didn’t really understand it as her ovaries were put into downreg so not producing any eggs, & her DH has had a vasectomy so risk of anything is v minimal but they said “infection, strep risk” gave a very Woolly answer (she’s a nurse so was pushing to understand). It makes me feel v bad as we all understood there would be a period for them of not DTD but it seems unfairly long with no risk & it’s got them down. But it’s nearly over, once we know the outcome the ban will be lifted!!
I also agree u should eat & drink everything on the banned list between now & Jan, we double dare you!! 😁😁

star I can’t believe you are on second injections these short protocols are, well, SHORT!!

I’ve just managed to get myself in a bit of a bind, my parents wanted to invite DH & I over for a meal between now & Xmas but we couldn’t get diaries to match up (we’re hosting Xmas for the 1st time 🎄) So now I’m going over myself (& dogs) next Sunday without DH as he’s in London..... 4 days after we find out if they will maybe be grandparents for the first time & I would find it horrendous not to tell them as other than DH they are my rocks. Oh well, least I know that up to Xmas they are very busy so get that out of the way then can avoid!! 🙈lets hope it’s necessary 😁

Minster since Tuesday evening I have been on stims with Gonal F plus Menopur. Cetrotide this morning is my 3rd one and you are all correct we become pros after a few days! Hopefully my next scan on Monday will show progress, we will see 😁

I have been feeling good but been very lazy watching one cringe film after the other. Laughs, tears, more laughs and tears but I feel good! Just perhaps a tad vulnerable. I can feel things are happening, but slightly, which is lovely.

Yes meditation is amazing and has been like a best friend to me for almost 2 decades.

I spoke too soon. I am back to being sick, worse than it’s been all week. We are in my parents house and my sister announces she is coming over. Noooooooo :( I just want to be alone with OH and feel sick in peace. So we are going to go home tomorrow morning before she gets here. I just can’t deal with visitors, and questions.

Aliona hey if you get naturally pregnant then it may be fate!! And you can still have your frozen embryos later, I guess you just pay for it?? Don’t let it stop you!! It’s a long time with no sex, and it’s cold outside lol. Did you get your sushi and wine??

Btw normally I am nice and polite but I hate being told what to do, I do not follow orders, esp if I think they are wrong... I have been known to say “don’t be so stupid” to a doctor before 😲 Always said with a smile though, at work I used to be called the smiling assassin 😂😂😂

Minster That sounds like a proper pickle!!! I guess you will have to write a list of distracting conversations for the dinner table? Go for all the things you should never talk about!! Politics... religion... another confession?? Like the mysterious stain on the rug wasn’t such a mystery, it was curry that you spilled when drunk (BIL confessed to this to distract his parents from him having a tattoo lol). I am really hoping it’s good news you will be taking.

Atik The midwife did a risk assessment for me and I have three “red flag” issues that mean I should be under consultant care rather than midwife... I think it means I will have to go to the actual hospital for labour, rather than the midwife unit. But I won’t complain... as long as the consultants are not bossy!! I think 0.5L is a good amount!! That’s all I ever drank... more and I might pee myself at the appointment!!

What I have everything crossed for you... I really hope it is just random spotting. In my area there’s only one go on NHS too, it’s so cruel :( I hope you won’t need another go!

Star The lazy day of films sounds wonderful!!! It sounds like you have a good balance of sensations but not complications from the medication! Short protocol is a lot easier I think, and it is really short! Mine was two weeks from starting stims to ET. Hope yours is as simple (except without the OHSS later on!)

On the telling parents front, I haven't seen my mum now for 4 months. I planned it that way as soon as i scheduled our ivf cycle as I didn't want her to see medication and know what we are doing. She has been upset and confused as to why I don't see her, but I think it's for the best...! I'm spending a week with her on my own before Christmas. If i'm pregnant, she will know something is up instantly as normally we spend our time together chugging slow gin and wine. My OH has already given me some tips to get out of drinking/to pretend I am! 😂 we have agreed not to tell anyone until 12 weeks, but I think it'll be hard...

dbear you are making me miss London! I lived there for about 9 years and worked in the city. I definitely played hard and went out every night... I love my sleepy quiet life in the north, but your message makes me miss the bright lights of London 😃

What how are you doing this morning? Our clinic said some people get what resembles a period and still have a bfp. I'm keeping everything crossed.

Thanks to everyone for being so kind yesterday! I didn't let my step son into bed for a cuddle this morning, and my OH has been super vigilant about the children being anyway near excitable around for me cuddles! My stomach is still sore - I might call the clinic and see if it is trapped wind or something else. I looked up the symptoms for ohss and I think you need to be puking to have that, so hopefully it's just my body recovering from being poked and proded, those damn pessaries, and hopefully a little bub getting all snuggled in... 😃

Sorry if I've missed anyone, particularly as everyone is so lovely.

Morning to you all, glad you sound like you are better, Rose. @Aliona I'm still spotting but no AF yet, I keep thinking just another day please, and another and another until the blood test at least. Not that long to go but it is going to be a loooooong week. I feel a little more mentally prepared now than my last cycle if it's going to be a BFN. I read my pregnancy test wrong and was jumping up and down in joy until I dug out the instruction again from the bin.

Like you Rose, I don't plan to tell parents or DS either if it's a BFP until 12 weeks. I am a chatty one so it is going to be hard!!
