Hi

I have had my 1st consultation today to start ivf.
Looking for buddies to share information and talk to.
Have been told my amh is very low, and I have 20% success rate.
Appointment with the nurse Tuesday to find out when this rollercoaster starts.

Afternoon all. Back from clinic and resting as instructed. Had 3 x day 5 blast embryos transferred this afternoon. Am now on a 12 day wait for blood test for hcg levels - but I know I’m never going to be able to wait that long; how soon is it practical to poas?

Hey star, my clinic offers gas & air as well as they said it helps if you're particularly nervous - might be worth asking your clinic about it.

Struggle I'm feeling surprisingly calm about it, though this whole process still does feel a bit surreal.

Angela I completely agree on the surreality of it all. But I just thought I should say that while five is a great number (it IS quality that counts!!) there might be some others hanging out and hiding as well. During my three pre EC scans, we never saw as many as nine follicles, but in the end they got nine eggs. Apparently one of my ovaries is in a slightly awkward position, and during EC a nurse kept pushing on my stomach to find the hiding eggs I guess it says it all about the medication I was given when all that poking felt completely fine and natural....

Remember wow, three blasts! Congrats! Roll on test date. I guess you never had a trigger shot, so you can start testing without worrying about a false positive? I've had bfps on 11 and 12 dpo on a frer. As long as you know that a bfn might turn into a bfp and you are testing with a sensitive test, I guess 10 dpo is the earliest that makes sense, although people do get lines before that as well.

Lucie five out of five fertilised is amazing! Fx for a perfect blast on Saturday.

Starlumiere as others have said, the EC really wasn't that bad. I could watch the screen and knew what they were doing all the time, and it felt meaningful in a way...that does perhaps sound a bit strange, but knowing that for each pinch I felt they got another egg... You'll be absolutely fine!

The clinic called today with an update, and it turns out that seven out of nine fertilised. Very happy about that. They will do a five day transfer on Monday. Just need to start some serious expectation management on my part now...

I've just started stims today (bemfola), on short protocol and this is my first cycle. We have male factor and my results have been good so far.

Scan/bloods arranged next Thurs to see how we are getting on.

Really excited/scared/impatient ... a whole mix of emotions! Don't want to get our hopes up but finding that really difficult...

I'd love to share the journey with you, just about to go back and read the whole thread.

hi riverrose i feel the same all different emotions for me at the moment with only two weeks left until my final third attempt of donor ivf I too don't want to jinx anything so much so I have been quiet on this attempt and haven't really spoke to anyone about it everyone is rather worried about me I have a scan on Tuesday and I am wide bushy tailed at 3am when I normally sleep all the way through I would love to share my experience with you and with you all and here if you need to talk

Anyone having issues with cyclogest pessarys?? I woke with pain in my back passage, so I switched to front and now I have thrush 😫. I’m going to try and alternate between both, but I’m sore, I have no other side effects really, but this is getting me down.

Also, had my call yesterday about egg progress Ana all 5 have now fertilised, all between 6 and 14 cells, so Saturday transfer. Very nervous.

Well I am a bit down right now. Scan wasn't great - only 4 showing at the moment. I think it's the shock of it as I wasn't expecting. All My bloods and previous scans looked really positive so to only have 4 after a previous scan showed 14 is a bit of a shock.. I know you only need one and I need to be positive but seems like I have gone through a lot to get to this..

Right positive thoughts only - who knows might be more by then, as I know my right ovary is in a odd place.. EC on Monday, trigger Saturday...finger crossed..

Ah gizmo you have to stay positive 4 is still a good number and never know the others might materialise

Gizmo I know it's really hard, but try to think positively & remember it's quality over quantity.

Egg collection scheduled for Monday morning. Still not feeling very real, but I expect that'll change soon enough.

Hi coolchick ! So you are quite close to starting then! I really hope this attempt works out for you and I understand about wanting to keep it private. I guess sometimes it can be harder with everyone waiting expectantly for news. I would love to share and hear more about your cycle as it progresses!

Hi angel, the bemfola injection hurt today - don't think I pinched a small enough section of my tummy. I've been given alternating doses too. Good luck for EC on Monday!

I work in a small office of only women and my colleagues know about my IVF (they asked outright why I was taking last minute appointments). Feels good to have their support and someone else other than DH to talk to, but almost feels like I will disappointing them if it fails!?

Riverrose I am taking medication at the mo for it have a scan Tuesday but it feels like the waiting game at the moment I suppose we have only a week and bit until we go to Spain we chose Spain as I wanted the donor anonymous where this country when the child 18 they can find out and with no waiting list in spain it was no brainer it's hard to tell friends on what is going on and they aren't in the same situation

Ah yeah I completely understand about the anonymous side, if I were to use donor eggs I think that might be the route I would take too.

Have you booked flights already? How long will you stay in Spain? We're very fortunate to have NHS funded rounds available to us but before I found this out I was looking at IVF abroad for the cost factor.

hi riverrose we have already booked the flights to get the cheaper deals we are staying for 4 nights 5 days hoping to fly out day before and then have 4 days to rest and hope to get some sun but I'm not sure as husband went out month ago to do his bit and he said it rained all day. yep you are very lucky that you can get it on nhs as it is expensive to pay for it luckily we have only had to pay for this round and 2nd round as the first one none of the eggs survived and was only told when I went out the first time got to the hospital and then was told none had survived how far are you in your cycle when do you go for the transfer

its cheaper abroad than over here though riverrose

We chose Cyprus for cost firstly (including flights and 2 weeks accommodation under 1/2 what it would be in the UK!!) and also for anonymity of donor (although we were given some information about our matches donors of course but nothing identifying) in future - though we won’t hide the fact we needed donor eggs to create our family!!

I agree with you remember I won't be hiding to my children that we had to go down donor route my hubby is part of me and babies growing inside me will be mine we weren't given much of a choice really mainly the Spanish clinics I think the English clinics we had more choice on so we choose a clinic near to us instead of travelling far and there wasn't much in the success rates

So I had my egg collection this morning, only got 1 egg. Feeling better pretty gutted right now

Sorry to hear this angel - must be so disappointing having got this far. But remember, it does only take 1 and so you are definitely still in with a shot! Look after yourself today xxx
