Hi

I have had my 1st consultation today to start ivf.
Looking for buddies to share information and talk to.
Have been told my amh is very low, and I have 20% success rate.
Appointment with the nurse Tuesday to find out when this rollercoaster starts.

Hi all, just catching up

remember great numbers, hope you're enjoying relaxing before ET.

I'm day 20 of downregging...very keen to be on the next stage now, feeling a bit headachey and quite emotional! Have a pre stimulation scan on Wednesday morning.

gizmo amazing how quickly we get used to it - I had to inject in a restaurant bathroom last week. It was fine but i had to do it really quickly as I was worried about a queue forming outside!

Coolchick11 · 06/11/2017 18:33

i had one injection in my bottom then that was it for me haven't had one since good luck eggy I am here if you need to talk about anything I'm good thanks counting down the weeks before I go to spain to start my third journey

Cool Chick

Struggle I would not be happy having to inject under pressure... you are doing really well! Even though I am kind of getting used to it, I often need to breathe and take a moment before I can do it. It's not that it hurts, but I just still find the needle a bit scary.

Remember that is so exciting with ET on Thursday! Keeping all fingers crossed for you. And such a bonus to get a nice holiday on top of it all, November is such a useless month weather-wise. Keep us updated on how it all goes!

Angela regarding side effects I had some mean migraines during downregging, but now during stimms the worst part is the nausea. I feel fine mood-wise now. How strange all of this is.

When I went for my scan on Friday, it turned out that I had to do two more days of stimms, with a new scan today. And I'm finally ready for egg collection, yay! 6-8 follicles, not too bad given my age (41). Trigger shot tonight and EC Wednesday morning. I'm a bit worried about the procedure, I will only get local anesthetics. But looking forward to it all being over. After EC it's all in the hands of the professionals, I find that weirdly comforting.

angelazul · 06/11/2017 19:28

Very impressive struggle Star I'm fine with the injections now, but def don't think I could do it in a restaurant.

Fantastic not, very exciting. Totally understandable that you're worried but I'm sure you will be totally fine. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Great news and thinking about you for tomorrow, notparticularly.

Am currently sat on a sunbed on the hotel’s private beach while DH takes a dip in the sea. Weather up and down here - temps ok in low 20’s and sunny but breezy and some clouds so feels a bit less. Finding we’re going to bed early - usually would sit in a bar with a bottle of wine or couple of cocktails of an evening on holiday but not this time and, while DH will have a glass of wine or beer with dinner, he’s happy not to drink with me - so relaxing and sleeping well are recipes for success.

Getting bruises and marks on my abdomen from the clexane injections so being careful about doing them - was told I could also use my upper arms but don’t want to look like I’ve gone 5 rounds with Tyson!!

Got extra drinks from supermarket today so I can just sit around on the beach or by the pool and read after it’s done on Thursday. Don’t want to come home at the weekend but am back at work next Monday and don’t want to go as don’t want to overdo things but I’m on a zero hour contract so need to be at work or the bills go unpaid!!

DM has given us the money to freeze any remaining embryos in case this cycle doesn’t work especially as we’ve got so many excellent grade 1 embryos to work with. Not sure but, given my age (46 next month), I think they will transfer 2-3 embryos each time - we would prefer 2 as better success rate but our donor is perfect age at 23 so excellent quality eggs to work with!!

angelazul · 07/11/2017 16:48

Sounds like bliss remember, it's baltic here so low 20s sounds lovely Envy

My acupuncturist shared an article about AMH testing that I found quite interesting, talks a bit about quality of eggs over quantity. I have to admit when I was first told my AMH was on the low side I did panic a bit, but consultant then explained that it just gives them a better idea of what dosage of ovarian stimulants to use.

Coolchick11 · 07/11/2017 18:26

Ah that's brilliant news remember early 20s is good I went to Spain peak season in August and didn't cope with the heat then went back to work straight after I got back this time I am having near enough two weeks off to give myself a chance dh has his own painting decoratoring company so at mo I can afford to do that but please take it easy when back as first two weeks is vital enjoy the rest of your time away

Lucie78 · 07/11/2017 21:06

Hello,

Just thought I would check in, had my ec on Monday, we got 5 eggs, not a great number. 4 have fertilised, so now we wait for Thursday to see how they’re doing.

Also, I’ve started my cyclogest pessarys tonight, I’ve read about awful side effects, I’ve been so lucky so far with side effects, has anyone got any experience of these?? I’m in 2 400 pessarys a day.

Xxx

Coolchick11 · 07/11/2017 21:10

Hi Lucie 5 is a great number hun first go we had eight second attempt 5 and this attempt 6 fresh eggs and fresh sperm so hoping it will work for us this time for us I have had no side affects with my medication so far xx

Lucie78 · 07/11/2017 21:27

Thanks coolchick11, mine are all fresh too, let’s hope we have some growers and stickers!!!
When do you have your transfer??

Coolchick11 · 07/11/2017 22:01

I have my scan next week and fly out to Spain following week they freezed until I get there but looking good as both were fresh in first place xx

Rememberallball · 08/11/2017 05:30

Latest update is 4 grade 1 excellent embryos made it to day 5 blast stage of the 12 fertilised eggs; I was a bit disappointed but, as DH says, we only need 1 embryo to be successful!! Think we’ll be having 2 transferred tomorrow and will freeze the remaining 2 but will be guided by our consultant who we see again before the transfer.

Still struggling with effects of doxycycline antibiotics making me nauseous but only got 3 more doses to take.

Can’t believe tomorrow is the day!!

Coolchick11 · 08/11/2017 07:28

Eek exciting news remember 5 is still a good number and transferring two is good cause only one has to take two be a bonus x

angelazul · 08/11/2017 08:05

Lucie just remember it's about egg quality rather than quantity. Fx for good news tomorrow.

Remember that's fab news, so exciting!!! Good luck for tomorrow

notparticularlypatient · 08/11/2017 12:50

Lucie four fertilized is a good starting point - all you need is one for a bfp. Tell us how it goes tomorrow! I start the cyclogest tomorrow, so glad to hear you don't have side effects yet. Hope I'm the same (probably not...).
*
Remember* 4 top grade blasts is a great number I think, with your donor being young they are all likely to be potential babies! Hoping transfer goes smoothly for you.

I'm home after EC. They got 9 eggs, better than we had expected, so happy about that. Now the wait until we know how many that fertilizes. I get a call in the morning with an update. Really hope that we get to the blast stage, it sounds more likely now with nine eggs to start with. Feeling a bit sore, but apart from that it was all much less scary than I had imagined!

Rememberallball · 08/11/2017 15:31

Got my call. Car coking for us st 12:45pm. Got to start drinking at 12:30pm and aim for 1.5-2 litres by 2pm - and not allowed to pee!! Can see crossed legs ahead of us!!

Times are Cypriot so 2 hours ahead of uk time!!

Coolchick11 · 08/11/2017 15:51

good luck for tomorrow remember Xx

angelazul · 09/11/2017 09:03

Not fx a good few of them fertilise.

Good luck remember.

Had my 1st scan today - there's 5 follicles & they're all quite big already (1 is 19mm, 2 are 18mm & 2 are 17mm). Got bloods done to check my oestrogen levels & another scan tomorrow morning. Looks like egg collection will be earlier than planned, possibly on Monday. Keep reminding myself that it's quality rather than quantity.

Starlumiere · 09/11/2017 10:09

Hello lovely ladies!

Do you mind if I join?

I am 44 starting my ICSi around the 15th of November. No children, divorced but find my new young man 3 years ago and been trying for a child for 2. His swimmers do go straight so ICSI it is!!!

Just spoke to my nurse and things are now in place. Will start injecting on the second day of my cycle. Not used to all this medication but hey thinking of the result Smile. I am on a short protocol and what I am uncomfortable about is the famous EC, BUT you have given me strength. I have an AMH of 10.4 and 8 follicles on left and 5 on right. My Consultant was quite positive.

Good luck to us all!

I have done fertility reflexology and it is great if you don't like acupuncture because of the needles.

Bless you all and hope you don't mind me joining, I think I need to belong somewhere.

Smile
struggleisreal · 09/11/2017 10:46

Wow angel that is great - it must be a relief that have some good follicles, and not long to go at all. How are you feeling? Definitely quality rather than quantity - It seems if you get lots of egg they are less likely to make it to day 5...just my observation though!

I start the stims tonight - eek! So ready for this after what feels like a lifetime of downregging. Back for a scan next Wednesday as I have one inactive ovary and they will up the meds if it isn't responding.

Best of luck remember - so exciting!! Hope it all goes well xxx

Lucie78 · 09/11/2017 11:20

Hi girls,

Just an update, got the call from the embryologist, out of 5 eggs 4 had fertilised on day 1, but today all 5 have fertilised! I have 2 at 6 cell, 1 at 7 cell, 1 at 10 cell and 1 at 14 cell, I’m in on Saturday for et. So relieved at those numbers, hopefully we will have one or two to freeze.

Hope everyone is feeling okay, this week it definitely feels so real.

Starlumier, I don’t think anyone has ever been more afraid of egg collection that I was, but I can honestly say it was no where near how bad I thought it would be, it is over so quickly and the sedation is actually really pleasant, not in a weird trippy way, just a warm feeling if relaxation and the discomfort afterwards is completely manageable. You will be absolutely fine. Xxx

Starlumiere · 09/11/2017 11:52

Hi Lucie78 thank you, it is nice to know I am not the only one worried Smile. Did you have the short or long protocol?

5 fertilized? That's totally amazing!!!! Will you T 1 or will you go for more? Roll on Saturday for you!

Lucie78 · 09/11/2017 13:13

I was on short protocol, norethisterone for 10 days, 5 day break and 11 days of menapur, 7 cetrotide.

Im not sure about how many eggs, I’ll go with what the clinic advise, if I have a really good blasto on Saturday and any to freeze, I’ll go with one, but, if there are two and they don’t think one will freeze I’ll ask to have them both put in. I think you have to be prepared for that decision.

It seems so odd that I could possibly have a baby from this, I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, I just feel like I’m having loads of appointments, I’m not looking forward to the wait, at least with a day 5 transfer it’s 11 days not 2 weeks, every day counts with the wait.

Xxx

gizmoismymate · 09/11/2017 13:45

wow is so exciting everyone progressing so quickly.. the time really does fly on this process. Good luck to all you ladies with ET coming up.

I've a week into the injections and other any the first morning i started on the 2 jabs a day, which really kicked my butt, I've been super fine, even did a 10k jog yesterday. I will say I've never been so happy to have a little tum as I'm sure the fat is stopping me from bruising :-) .. I'm surprised how normal it all becomes.. I'm out tonight and have my trusty kit with me to inject in the restaurant. It's first scan tomorrow .. ekkk get to see how i am cooking.. Fingers crossed.

Starlumiere am super worried about the EC but everyone on here seems to have had a good experience and I've started planning my ipod playlist - I'm thinking nice relaxing tunes so i will hopefully fall asleep.

Keep positive ladies we will be on the two week wait before we know it
