IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

They’re lovely stories @janefx40 we are hoping to go to an open info evening, but it’s hard to fit around my work.

Hope you’re hormones settle down soon. Will you start your nhs round when it comes?

I’m doing bad at the healthy eating/ ivf diet! But have decided to cut out sweets now. Struggling to eat fruit and veg, because I just don’t want it. I want comfort food!!! Lol

Hope you’re doing ok! Xx

Janefx40 · 20/03/2018 22:41

Ha ha my diet is also non existent. Said I would start again after my birthday which was yesterday. But then DP gave me my favourite chocolate and Mum took me out for dinner!!! And I had 3 courses - I'm incurably greedy!

Cycle will start on next period not this one so another whole month after this one eventually happens

When is the open evening?

BeHereNow31 · 21/03/2018 07:54

You have to treat yourself on/ just after your birthday! 😀 prob best not to stress too much about diet. Being able to relax is more important

There’s open evenings every month, until the summer. I don’t think we will be able to make it until June time. But that, might be good because I’ll have a better idea what’s going on with the ivf. I have read up on the process, and it seems quite intense with training and home visits, but I understand why they do that.

My period is going to be late too. I’m nearly due, and I only just getting ovulation signs now!

Janefx40 · 22/03/2018 08:34

@BeHereNow31 yes might be good to wait until June anyway - be clear in your head about it.

The process my friends went through was intense but as you say, necessary. There's a lot of hoohah in the press about how hard it is to adopt but lots of adoptions actually break down so they have to be careful.

They had to do quite a few interviews, training and home visits, then when they had been found their baby, they did an intense 2 week hand over period. But the whole thing didn't take much more than a year and as we know, it can take a lot longer than that to have a baby naturally anyway!

BeHereNow31 · 28/03/2018 18:51

How are both???

I’m ok... found out my closest friend is pregnant. I am really happy for her. But gutted that I’m still waiting for my BFP

Saw that you’re on another thread janefx40 I might join... but still in ivf limbo, so not sure yet. Still waiting on our follow up appointment
Xx

Janefx40 · 28/03/2018 20:05

Just a quickie as am still working (argh!). @BeHereNow31 it's hard when friends get BFPs even if you are pleased for them.

Yes I am on IVF/ICSI 2. It's a nice group. Lots of new people have joined recently so it's quite buzzy at the moment but it goes through phases. Come join!!

I'm 6 weeks off anyway...as you will have seen if you read the other thread. I can introduce you if you like.

Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 28/03/2018 20:09

Still working?! That’s a late one. Seen you’re still waiting for period.. mine is due today, and there’s no way it’s coming soon. Doesn’t matter too much, because I won’t be starting ivf yet. Hope your’s comes soon.
Yeah, you could do. I’ll pop on, but won’t have much to say just yet!

Anyway, can chat later! ☺️ Xx

Fox23 · 31/03/2018 15:19

Good morning @BeHereNow31 and @Janefx40 😊 Happy Easter holidays 🐰 🐣 💐
@BeHereNow31 I think your idea of adoption is amazing. It’s kind and selfless act. Besides it wouldn’t stop you from trying ivf again. I so hope it works out! Did your AF arrive on time? Sorry to hear about the baby bomb... same thing happened when my brother announced they will have a baby last year. I was so excited for them, but... unreasonable jealous. I suppose its inevitable...
@Janefx40 6 weeks will come so quickly! It’s all numbers game... in my clinic there is a “baby card corner” where successful ivf couples send in thank you’s. One had written- after 5 try’s, we had a boy... These success stories are so inspiring. They were for me definitely.

I have been busy at work. We had stocktake and that usually takes weeks of prep. So, time had flown by. I had brown spotting about a week ago, that scared me so much. I was panicking and worried and I knew that there is nothing I can do besides waiting for my appointment. And then I had my 8 week scan on Monday. I’m all good. After the scan the nurse said I’m done with ivf clinic and I need to get care referral by my GP....
I’m so so bad with food, it’s not cravings, just greed. all the good I achieved in preparation is long long gone. The only symptom I really have is tiredness... from the day after the transfer to now... I’m just so tired all the time.

BeHereNow31 · 31/03/2018 20:14

@Fox23 I’m glad everything is going well, and scan went smoothly. Is it feeling real yet? Still waiting on my period. Tbh, I think it will be a couple of weeks late. If I’m guessing right when I ovulated. We have our follow up appointment in a couple of weeks too.

I sent an enquiry email into adopting this morning. So hopefully can get things moving along slowly!

Janefx40 · 01/04/2018 14:00

Hi @Fox23 it's so lovely to hear from you. Glad your 8 week scan went well and that things are progressing. Not surprised you are tired, you're growing a human!!

Thanks for all your positive thoughts. Hopefully I will get there in the end.

@BeHereNow31 I gave you an intro and tagged you on the other thread. Come say hi whenever you like

BeHereNow31 · 02/04/2018 21:18

Hey! I think for the now I’m going to leave mumsnet. I’m in an ok place mentally, but want to take my mind off ivf just now. And enjoy a break before it all starts again.
All the best for both of your journies! Xx

Janefx40 · 02/04/2018 21:51

Ok good plan. I have done the same in the past. Come back if and when you want. We'll be here xx

Janefx40 · 12/04/2018 06:43

@Fox23 (and @BeHereNow31 if you didn't leave after all). Help! The docs decided this week that I could start a short protocol on my next bleed rather than wait for the one after. They gave me pills to bring it in in 8-10 days but I started bleeding suddenly (cycle day 59!) last night.

I'm really nervous. Not sure why. It just seemed so sudden. My body is still so messed up that I've not even had a proper cycle - that is unheard of for me. Hope it doesn't spoil my chances.

Anyway hope you are ok

Xxx

Fox23 · 17/04/2018 20:43

@janefx40 I’m so sorry I missed your message! What’s happening? It’s been now 5days since you posted. Are you starting this cycle? Or will you wait? What did doctors say?

Janefx40 · 18/04/2018 07:43

Hi @Fox23 no worries. I was shocked that night because the bleeding started and it seemed sudden. But it turned out to just be spotting so I had a bit more time to get used to the idea of starting again.

Started stims on Monday in the end. So far so good although this clinic is a world away from my last one. They did a scan but no bloods (which seemed a little weird given that I've just had a 60 day cycle) and then started me. They then do bloods on day 5. No other bloods or scans. So it's more relaxing than having daily blood tests but feels a bit light touch.

How are you? How many weeks are you now? X

Fox23 · 21/04/2018 20:20

@Janefx40 I can’t believe you have started again! That’s sooo amazing! Time will fly and before you know it, you’ll be at the next stage! I’m so happy for you- it’s numbers game, you never know when it will be your lucky draw 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
I’m 12 weeks tomorrow and my IVF clinic just said few weeks ago- go to your GP, and get referral as you don’t have to come back here! So, I did and on Wednesday im having dating / screening scan and then midwife appointment later on the same day. I’m eating like there is no tomorrow, and gaining weight. That will have to be restricted...worried about my scan and will break the news to my parents in two weeks. They don’t know...

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 17:37

I woke up this morning with sore throat....
Girls, any ideas on remedies? Considering practically no actual medication can be taken. 🤒

Ging78 · 23/04/2018 20:30

Hi ladies

Fox. The 12 week scan is so exciting and i loved the first midwife visit too. I bet your parents will be so excited. Telling people was amazing.

Regarding the sore throat paracetamol is the only thing i was told i could take unfortunately!

Jane i hope its going well. I went straight into my frozen cycle on my first bleed after my failed fresh cycle and now I'm 6 months pregnant. Our bodies can be amazing and can do some much sometimes.

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 21:13

@Ging78 darling! How lovely to hear from you!! 6 months? OMG already? It’s unbelievable on how quick time goes. How is everything else with you?
I just had been me paracetamol and I think it has made tiiinnyyyy difference. Been drinking concuction of lemon, honey and cloves. Basically every online advise in one hot water cup.... tastes surprisingly good.

Ging78 · 23/04/2018 21:59

You know the first few weeks seem to drag when waiting for viability scans and then to pass the 12 week mark and then to get to second trimester etc. Then suddenly it flies and weeks zip past. All is great here very exciting time.

12 weeks is such a big step you'll feel so much happier to get there. How did you keep it from your parents? Have you told anyone. We told my parents and close friends early. Xx

Fox23 · 23/04/2018 22:17

@Ging78 my 12 weeks was yesterday so that’s done. Scan on Wednesday, that’s only days away. I suppose with us, IVF girls, we get more scans than normal pregnancies. I mean I already have 3 pictures!! But this is the big one everyone is anxious about.
I’m not English and my parents don’t live here. So I figured that if I tell them-yeyyyy and then-neeeyyy, it would hurt them for no reason. Considering my ectopic I didn’t want to risk hurting them. They haven’t seen me for over 1/2 year. They will probably see me and think- gee, she’s got fat! 😂 I suppose then I will tell them. I know my parents have given up on idea of me having a baby 😂
When is your due date? Soooo exciting!!’

Janefx40 · 24/04/2018 14:37

hi ladies. Sorry @Fox23 for late response. Good luck tomorrow! So exciting that your 12 week scan is actually here. Hope all goes well. I can totally understand you feeling anxious about it.

Sore throats are horrid. I'm not sure anything works anyway - so probably just the paracetamol and hot drinks like you said.

@Ging78 amazing that you are 6 months. Time seems to zip by on these forums. Glad you have settled into things.

I'm triggering tonight - EC Thursday. Fewer follicles than last time but fingers crossed. Xxx

Fox23 · 24/04/2018 17:57

@Janefx40 already????? That’s soooo quick! I’m so happy for you! By the end of the week you will know exactly how many you’ve got! I will everything crossed for you! You so deserve a lucky break! I suppose transfer will be Tuesday? Wow ! I’m so excited for you, as your number will come up soon 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Please let me know how it’s going! You soooooo deserve this to go well!

Janefx40 · 24/04/2018 20:51

Thanks @Fox23. I'm just desperate to get enough to freeze something. I'd just feel so much better knowing we had another chance if this didn't work. But in reality I only need 1 and I know that.

Just had my trigger shot. Has given me an immediate headache which is a little troubling. I know I am super speedy! This is treatment day 9. Last cycle I triggered on day 8!

Let me know how you get on tomorrow

Xxx

Ging78 · 25/04/2018 19:04

Well ladies how did the scan and the egg collection go today? Xx
