IVF Cycle Buddies July/August

Hi all! I know there's a June/July thread but I've started this one as I'm so far behind everyone else and wanted to find others at the same stage as me!

We're due to start a FET after a failed fresh cycle in march resulted in a CP. We got 5 Frosties which I'm so pleased with and we're putting two frozen ones back this time.

AF came yesterday, so I'm booked in for scratch on 24th of this month and start DR on 22nd.

I joined a thread on my last cycle and it helped me so much as I am very private with all of this. So I'm hoping to find others to share with again 😊

Welcome cho!

Chivin the twisted ovaries thing is what really put me off exercising. My job is very physical and that worries me too.
Tonight is be first night I've felt very very bloated and uncomfortable. That might have something to do with the beautiful sunshine today and the fact that I've eaten like a beast but think I'll say it's the drugs!

Leanne so exited for you for tomorrow. Can't wait until it's my turn!
We are the same age!

Leanne1185 · 24/07/2017 22:22

Really gamblers? We've been trying since we were 28, it's exhausting 😴 Have u just had prostap? Iv only had that and the last two days Iv had hot flashes like I'm going through menopause but possibly because AF is here🤔 What's ur next step?

thegamblersmrs · 24/07/2017 23:03

Stopped the pill when I was 28, didn't ever think I was 'trying' but mentioned to my gp last year that nothing had happened and the next minute I'm sat in a fertility clinic so after that started doing everything by the book and still nothing so here we are!

Yep just had prostap, I don't think it's the cause for the bloating but I don't normally eat as much as I have done today. I think the pregnacare stuff makes me very bloated.
I don't know if I'm properly having hot flashes, I feel more like there's a burning poker inside of me.

Next step is scan on 7th August and probably start the injections the same day.

Leanne1185 · 24/07/2017 23:18

I wonder why our protocols are so different, u would think there would be one that got the best results so they would all use that! Xx

Whatamuddleduck · 25/07/2017 06:10

Morning all!
Welcome ChoChang.

Thanks for the heads up Biscuit. I have a scratch and scan today. The timing of the scratch seems a bit unusual as I've been taking buserelin for two weeks and am hoping the scan shows I can move onto stims today. But what the heck!

Gamblers- yup, just occasionally DP gets hit with 'I have to wash up/ Hoover the stairs/make my own drink! But look st these injections!'. Does it work for anyone else? DP is very patient but no fool!

thegamblersmrs · 25/07/2017 06:47

Ha ha duck my DP would tell me I'm only doing the cleaning/tidying for myself anyway as he doesn't care and just to leave it! Drives me insane.

Leanne there's over 30 different protocols at my clinic alone. Personalised as everyone's body/cycle is different. That's why I got a row for asking questions from things I learned on here!

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 09:02

Amazing whatamuddle, good luck wit ur scan and scratch today...big step towards the end goal 💪🏻

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 09:37

I just did my first jag, had to construct it with my husband incase I did it wrong! Was shaking like a leaf because I didn't want to mess it up 😬Anyway it's done woohoo xx

thegamblersmrs · 25/07/2017 10:18

Excellent! Go you! You're well on your way. 🤸‍♂️

Whatamuddleduck · 25/07/2017 10:47

Yay Leanne! That first one is worrying isn't it!

My scratch is done (biscuit was spot on- painful for 30 seconds and then fine) just hanging around waiting for my scan. Feels slightly odd sitting in a bay with all the ladies that have just had egg collection! They all sound ok though which is good! I'm definitely bringing a book and sending DP off until home time on ec day, there are lots of men sitting about looking awkward.

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 25/07/2017 13:54

Glad your scratches went well biscuit and what! Welcome cho!

I started my gonal f last night, i was petrified and couldn't get the needle into the pen (i was in a right flap) but once I actually sorted myself out it was absolutely fine. I literally couldn't feel the needle or fluid at all. I did my second this morning which was also totally fine, although I definitely feel windy, bloated and twinges already.

Are you all carrying on working as normal, how much time do you plan to have off for eggcollection/transfer? Just trying to iron things out with my employer and would like to know what is 'normal', I'm finding that the hardest thing at the moment, needing time off.

BiscuitBill · 25/07/2017 14:30

Wooooo to everyone who's getting started!! Such exciting times 😊 I feel awful for scaring everyone before their scratch! It really isn't too bad!

Was anyone else sobbing for poor Toyah in last nights corro 😢

Ha ha leanne constructing it! That's so funny!!
duck well done, you're well and truly on your way!
crying I had the whole of the 2ww off. The main reason was I didn't know when we'd get ET and work didn't know what I was doing so I couldn't have come in after EC and then go off again at short notice etc. So was easier all round to get a Drs note from my gp which just said 'post operative' and no questions and no real lies...my work would no be supportive and would probably kill any career progression 😱

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 25/07/2017 14:49

Think I scared everyone too biscuit after fainting twice Blush Clearly I'm an anomaly...

chivintassle · 25/07/2017 15:06

Fainting?! Twice?! OMG 😲

Whatamuddleduck · 25/07/2017 15:49

Horay! Buserelin has worked! I start stims tomorrow. The new injections look very complicated. I then don't have another scan until the 4th which will be stims day 10. Is that usual? I was traumatised by them forgetting I was waiting for my scan and leaving me on the ward for ages alone and didn't think to ask any more questions.

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 16:27

This is so exciting to all be starting!! I spoke to my amazing nurse about exercise this morning she said just go with what ur body tells u sothat made me happy! Just back from a 3 hour walk and I'm feeling two he's already after just one injection eek!! The injections I'm taking are quite complicated muddleduck. I started today and to go for a scan a week tomo and earliest my EC will be is the 4th so I'll be around 8-10 days xx

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 16:57

Twinges that was meant to say

thegamblersmrs · 25/07/2017 17:18

Sorry walking home from work and typing on the go so apologies if I don't make sense.

Re Corrie, oh my goodness yes I was very emotional for her!

Re work, my clinic have said I really shouldn't have to change anything and shouldn't need to be off. I've no idea really, o take the ec day and day after but more worried about after et. I'll get flagged up for a disciplinary for having two absences so close together. That sounds like a good idea to getting signed off as 'post operative' but also think I might go insane if I do that?!

I'm currently trying to time my walk home as I normally go to the gym after work and know I won't have time to go once the pessaries start so hoping I can walk home instead. It's 6 miles so not the best for waking to work.

BiscuitBill · 25/07/2017 18:30

Poor toyah! I was watching thinking how blaze I would have been about this story line just a couple of years ago.. And now I'm sat blubbering like a baby!

Fainting twice 😱 oh dear! The things we do hey?! Hopefully this will be the last time we have to put ourselves through this (unless we want any more)

Wow 6 miles gamblers! I live 5 miles away from work, and I couldn't ever walk that! I must admit though all you ladies talking about exercise and I've kept quiet because I do zero 😂

ChoChang · 25/07/2017 18:46

Thanks for the warm welcome guys Smile.

Glad you got your scratch out of the way duck and great you can start your stims.

Hurrah for the first jab complete Leanne, its a bit nervewracking at first isnt it. Youll soon be a pro at it though!

Crying I took a months unpaid leave for my fresh cycle (short protocol). For my frozen cycle I worked right through except ET.

This time I plan to just take a day for EC (and work from home the day after as cant drive for 24 hours after general), then a day for ET. Ill probably take the second week of 2ww as annual leave as I find this the worst time waiting to find out if its worked and I cant focus on work anyway!

thegamblersmrs · 25/07/2017 19:15

Leanne that's good you go to have a chat re exercise and sounds like our clinics are giving same kinda advice.

Holy moly crying that sounds grim fainting twice!

I must admit the idea of feeling and looking heavier makes me feel rubbish. I don't mind if there's an actual baby in there but when there's not that annoys me so hoping I can keep up with exercise.

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 19:25

I'm a teacher in Scotland so I'm off till the 16th August and I'm so glad to be doing it while I'm off, although will be back for the 2ww but that's maybe a good thing to keep my mind off it! I'm the same gamblers I can't wait to be fat but only with a bambino inside 😂 I don't watch Corrie but might have to now 🤔😂

thegamblersmrs · 25/07/2017 19:30

Leanne don't do it, don't start the Corrie train.
I'm also in Scotland! Maybe why we are both on prostap.

Leanne1185 · 25/07/2017 19:43

We seem to have quite a lot in common...funny if we're at the same clinic 😂
