Hi all! I know there's a June/July thread but I've started this one as I'm so far behind everyone else and wanted to find others at the same stage as me!

We're due to start a FET after a failed fresh cycle in march resulted in a CP. We got 5 Frosties which I'm so pleased with and we're putting two frozen ones back this time.

AF came yesterday, so I'm booked in for scratch on 24th of this month and start DR on 22nd.

I joined a thread on my last cycle and it helped me so much as I am very private with all of this. So I'm hoping to find others to share with again 😊

Floo actually doing work will be fine, close work people know and although my job is very physical (hospital) I could take it easy and do some research based stuff and see light patients. There's some element of risk as even the lightest of patients can take unwell or fall and reflex is to assist them rather than protect my ovaries.

The main thing I think will be difficult is getting in for 8am when taking pessaries and sick leave. E.g. I'd ideally like to go in the days I'm ok and feel able with the option to phone in sick when I'm not ok but it's actually easier to take a period of sick leave than lots of one days.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, hopefully I'll be grand and not need to be off.

Ps I do not recommend spin. I was sweating like a pig and now have sharp pains in my stomach, wouldn't have thought related as I've only had the one prostap injection?

thegamblersmrs · 26/07/2017 18:28

Ps my goal for the next week is to stop trying to make decisions on every eventuality. I need to wait until things happen instead of preempting them and making plans! Help me team!

Leanne1185 · 26/07/2017 19:28

That's a very good goal to have gamblers and one that I need to try and do also, I have to admit though I'm not overly anxious about it...yet!!! I know when I go for my scan etc next week I will be a nervous wreck in the hope everything is ok! That's not good about spin Iv just eaten and been to the cinema today so I'm now on the couch being a lazy ass 😂

thegamblersmrs · 26/07/2017 19:38

Sounds good Leanne. I'm trying to cram exercise in as planned to see a lot of shows during the fringe to take my mind of things so won't be able to exercise so much in August unless you count laughing!

BeHereNow31 · 26/07/2017 21:24

Hello, I have just joined Mumsnet, so I can chat a bit before my FET cycle starts. I will go in for the injection and scan in 7th of August. I have one failed fresh cycle. I am thinking about asking the nurses if it would be possible for me to have a scratch. Just not sure if they will offer it this early on.

I have been reading these forums for a long time, so will be nice to get involved in the chat too!

Smile
thegamblersmrs · 26/07/2017 21:35

Welcome now31, I am a newbie and first cycle ivf but will have my scan and injections same day as you.
Sorry I can't offer any advice on what you should ask for as I'm clueless but a few of the girls here have been through it and I'm sure they will be able to offer advice. :)

BiscuitBill · 26/07/2017 22:10

Welcome now31! This is my first FET after a failed fresh in may. I had a scratch for both! Are you self funding or NHS? I'm not sure about NHS but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to have it if you're paying for it! It was £200 for me, not sure if the prize will vary between clinics?

FloofyFloo · 26/07/2017 22:17

Welcome 31 so sorry your fresh cycle failed. Do ask about the scratch, my consultant said there was no reason to this time around as they have no reason to think I'd need any help with anything (other than the ovulating and fertilising) - but I think that's just because I'm NHS and they're not going to do anything not strictly necessary! For a frozen cycle they might want to do more to ensure success? Definitely worth asking.

I have completely lost my sanity today. Everything is making me cry - specifically right now because I'm sleeping in the spare bed (because I'm getting too hot what with the hot flushes from the buserelin and my DH is a compulsive cuddler) but I don't want to because I feel lonely (he's only one room over with no doors shut down I'm being ridiculous) but I don't want to go to the main bed because then I'll be too hot. THIS IS NOT A REAL ISSUE. I DO NOT NEED TO CRY ABOUT IT. I also cried earlier because I don't have enough time to do things. At the start of the summer holidays. Where I have nothing but time and doctors appointments..

I'm not even on a high dose of Stims. What is wrong with me!?!?!? Is anyone else a complete hormonal mess? I simultaneously want this to not be just me, and also hoping that this isn't a real side effect and I'm just actually a massive idiot and you're all fine!

Leanne1185 · 26/07/2017 22:48

Floofy Iv been ok but very moody today like pmt but worse, my poor hubby😂 I also went to c Dunkirk and cried approx 3 mins in which I never do so don't worry I'm in crazy town with u 🙌🏻

ChoChang · 26/07/2017 22:49

Hi now31. I dont claim to know lots about this either, but I can tell you what my consultant told me re the scratch if that helps?! Im having mine following NK cell biposy (unproven and still in the trial stages but this is our last NHS cycle and wanted to throw everything at it!) and recurrent miscarriages. My NK results showed a lower than average count, so consultant recommended scratch. He said that he wouldnt recommend scratch as standard, only with known low NK count or repeated implantation failure or miscarriage, but that some clinics offer it as standard. However, Im sure other consultants will say otherwise so I would probably just ask them if they think it will be beneficial for you. As gamblers said, there are a few of us on here that have had it so maybe some other ladies can advise too.

thegamblersmrs · 26/07/2017 22:54

Aw floo crying when you don't want to cry is the worst! Got to say I'm a little jealous that your DH is a cuddler. Mine is most definitely not. Mostly because he's the warmest beast imaginable and it would only make him warmer.

I cried in the car on the way home tonight, no reason for it. I can't even remember now why it was.
I majorly over reacted to a phone call at work today, normally I could deal with it rationally but I just got very upset and shaky which was strange.
I must admit I've not noticed 'unusual' mood swings but I am having mood swings. I've had them really bad since I came off the contraceptive pill which also coincided with my wee mum. Maybe a mixture of my own hormones or depression. No idea but it's never resolved and I hate it.

ChoChang · 26/07/2017 23:09

Oops, cross posted with a few people there, took an age to write my post distracted by the telly. I had mine done privately even though im on nhs treatment as it wasnt included, cost £200 as well.

Sorry some of you are feeling emotional, rubbish side effects arent they. Hope tomorrow is better ladies x

thegamblersmrs · 27/07/2017 09:32

Need advice. Failed in less than 24 hours re planning ahead.

Ladies who've had the pessaries before - I have a wedding in ?hereford which is about 6 hour drive from me. I could possibly be on around day 5/6 of pessaries all going well.

Do they have to be at the same time every day? Do you have to lie down after them? Is it sensible to go to the wedding?

Asking now as I'll have to book accommodation and want to give the couple enough notice if I cancel.

Thanks in advance ladies.

FloofyFloo · 27/07/2017 09:54

Have managed to 9.45 with no tears today - yay! Thinking I might just have been tired.
DH is amazing, he is a looker-after and over the past few years I have really struggled with my health so he has done nearly everything for me. Doesn't mean he's not also a pain, but I don't know what I'd do without him! Unfortunately I actually pretty much hate cuddles...Confused
Gamblers are you the sole driver? If not and if you have to lie down could you just recline seat to the max for the duration of time you have to lie?
I just read the instructions for my vaginal gel, and it didn't mention lying down - but it's not a pessary so could be different!
It did mention 10% chance of feeling 'very tired' followed by 'avoid driving if so'... Which is a right pain as I will be back to work sometime within those 30days Envy

ChoChang · 27/07/2017 09:54

You will be fine dor the wedding gamblers. I was advised take them at the same time each day (morning and evening) as i guess the idea is to keep your progesterone levels up and steady.

You can use them vaginally or rectally (glamour eh!). If i used them vaginally i used to lie down for about 30 mins after, if rectally i didnt need to lie down. I was advised i had to use them rectally between EC and ET, and then after ET I could do either, so I got used it 😂

BiscuitBill · 27/07/2017 09:55

From my experience, they weren't too bad. Yes I tried to lay down for 15 mins afterwards but not essential. They're not as messy as you would imagine, but maybe wear a panty liner if you want to be on the safe side. Yes you can still go to the wedding!

Thanks guys! I booked hotel this morning and then had a melt down- not like us eh?

DP can drive all the way if needed. He'd prefer to drive as naturally he thinks I'm a terrible driver. I'm not! I like to drive as I get travel sick if I don't but I'm an excellent sleeper so could sleep the full way.

Just had visions of trying to stick a pessary in whilst he's driving down the motor way or leaving the wedding for a few hours.

chivintassle · 27/07/2017 10:50

floofy welcome to the emotional club!! I am really not looking forward to starting Buserelin as it pulled me down last time, had real trouble sleeping, hot etc. Spontaneous crying, yep! I just think how good it makes my skin!! That's why I'm trying to go swimming every morning before work so it helps balance me and I know I won't have the motivation to go to the gym.

gamblers I never even thought of lying down last time, just did it on the loo, like a tampon. The gel I had was very sticky so it was not coming out! I drive from Devon to London weekly and had no problems. Agree re same time daily (ish) to keep levels constant.

BeHereNow31 · 27/07/2017 16:36

Thank you for your replies. The nurse at the hospital said that the scratch isn't something that they offer. They used to, but not they don't feel as though it is beneficial. This is an NHS cycle. I feel ok not getting it done though, and just trying to take a more relaxed approach to it all. If that makes sense?

Gamblers I think going to the wedding sounds like a good plan. I think anything nice to take our mind off ivf a little can help. Smile

Leanne1185 · 27/07/2017 16:36

This is why I love this chat u girls ask questions that I had even though about 👍🏻 How's the emotions today ladies? I have PMT x10 today and my poor hubby is putting up with a lot...cannot help it eeekk!!!

thegamblersmrs · 27/07/2017 16:45

I feel like I could breakdown any minute but I think that's cos my eyes are sore from
Hay fever.
Going to body combat to see if that'll help!

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 27/07/2017 17:18

I feel really achey and tired, my back is so achey. I have a tipped uterus and so I wonder if my ovaries sit further back too, hence the back ache. Im only on gonal-f and start centrotide tomorrow, which I very anxious about. Mainly about making it up, not actually injecting it, I may eat my words in the morning though.

Leanne1185 · 27/07/2017 17:30

I keep bursting into tears also it's so weird I feel like I'm going mental 😫

Leanne1185 · 27/07/2017 17:31

I was the same crying it wasn't the injections it was making it up incase I messed it up! U will be fine xxx

FloofyFloo · 27/07/2017 18:19

Leanne and crying do you have to mix your stimulation drugs? I have a pen for those, which is nice although I do not like the needle on it. I hesitate every day because I'm such a chicken!!!
Made it through the day with no break down so far, although a lot of hot flushes which is annoying!
I'm going running this evening which I hope will help my mood, although I feel exhausted from going in to work even though I've only done 3k steps today Confused
