We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Good luck at your scan today gee.

I'm currently in the acu awaiting a blood test to confirm the hpt. Feeling insanely nervous even though I won't get the results till I ring this afternoon anyways!

Thinking of you blue, very best of luck

Hello bright - sorry you're going through this too. My first scan suggested a hydrosalpinx (which turned out not to exist) and at time I was reassured by the doctor saying that IVF was originally designed to overcome tubal issues and for that it is incredibly successful. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. What do they think caused the adhesions? I had some from an appendicectomy and burst cyst when I was a child. It had stuck my right ovary to my right tube but they were able to snip them off. Hadn't made any difference to patency of the tube in my case but it's good they can get rid so easily really. How are you feeling about it all? Good luck with the weight loss.

Brighteye3986 · 05/07/2017 09:28

Thanks Nolm.

My adhesions have come from an appendectomy and an operation for bowel adhesions when I was 8! I was admitted in with acute appendicitis but the hospital was adamant it was not my appendix- 10 hours later when they finally decided to operate they found my appendix had ruptured. This then resulted in my bowels blocking 1 month after from the adhesions! In all the 23 years I have never known it would cause infertility!

When I went to see the gynae back in February he was pretty adamant that this was the cause and it would appear that he was correct.

I can't believe myself how far I have come with my weight- my BMI back in November was 35.8 and I am now at 30.9. I feel so close to being where I need to be yet also so far. I have about another 6lbs to go and 5 weeks until my next appointment so hopefully I can do it.

NoImBridgetJones · 05/07/2017 09:48

Gah, how frustrating for you. I was gutted when we thought I had the hydrosalpinx because I specifically remember asking the doctors at the time whether it would affect me having children, they chuckled and said no. I suppose things move on quickly in the medical world and they're learning all the time... no one's fault but frustrating nonetheless! But, as I myself have been reassured on this thread, you're on the right track to getting this sorted Smile

Wow, you've done amazingly well already then! 6lbs in 5 weeks is achievable and whatever you're already doing is obviously working. You can do it Smile

Brighteye3986 · 05/07/2017 10:08

I know it's frustrating but the other side of the coin is to at least get answers as to why rather than it being unexplained. My previous GP was adamant I had PCOS but every scan and blood test came back clear. I even asked him at time whether there would be issues and he said no.

I was pretty much told back in February that my only option would be IVF which really got me down but with the support of my family I have managed to come to terms with it. I'm sure a lot of people understand how disheartening it is to hear that but as everyone keeps telling me, they haven't told me I can't have children just that I need assistance in getting there!

Welcome newbies Smile

Blue/gee- news from today? Hope you're both ok x

geeup · 05/07/2017 18:42

Hi. Thanks for thinking of me. I had my scan and I'm good for collection on Friday. Bit of a mixed bag follicle wise - 2 of my 8 haven't grown as they're being squashed by the bigger ones so I'm probably looking at 5-6 viable ones. I know it only takes one and all that so trying to stay upbeat and relaxed but really I'm hot, probably haven't drunk enough and am panicking I'll ovulate early before they can get the eggs out. Arghhhh.

justtheonethen · 05/07/2017 18:46

Hurrah! Quality over quantity etc. When do you trigger?

justtheonethen · 05/07/2017 18:47

And you know really you aren't going to ovulate them early. Take a deep breath Flowers

geeup · 05/07/2017 19:07

Triggering tonight with a complicated pen thing (different from pregnyl that I used last time). Currently on the hottest train ever in the whole world.

geeup · 05/07/2017 19:09

I'm just a bit worried re ovulating early as another lady on another thread I follow has just had that. Took buserlin and trigger at correct time but ovulated before the surgery. Blood tests confirmed it. Poor lady is understandably upset and worried but luckily still got 3 eggs recovered.

angelazul · 05/07/2017 19:10

Oh yeah good old skittletits - not every single month, but I'm more acquainted with them than I would ever wish

Gee def seems to be quality over quantity, everything crossed for Friday

Starting to pms, poor dh doesn't know where to hide

justtheonethen · 05/07/2017 19:18

Oh god gee poor woman. Must be rare though?

Is it ovitrelle? I had that. It's not too tricky but be prepared for the awful noise it makes!

justtheonethen · 05/07/2017 19:19

Grin angel, wait until you start ivf. I was like a monster!

geeup · 05/07/2017 19:22

Omg me on stims this time was pms x 1000 Blush
My trigger is an Italian one called Gonasi. Apparently there's a shortage of pregnyl at the moment.

bluebird3 · 05/07/2017 19:30

gee I had gonasi as well. Mine was a syringe though...not a pen. I wouldnt worry too much about ovulating early...I'm pretty sure that's rare.

I've had bad news today I'm afraid. My beta came back at 250 and my clinic said they would have expected it to be at least 1000 to indicate a healthy pregnancy. I have to go back Friday to see if it's doubling, as some women just have slower rising hcg. I'm feeling pretty down and trying to prepare for the worst, early mc or ectopic.

angelazul · 05/07/2017 20:05

Sorry it wasn't better news blue, everything crossed for an improvement on Friday Flowers

angelazul · 05/07/2017 20:06

Just & gee I'm dreading ivf, I'm a hormonal mess lots of months as it is Blush

justtheonethen · 05/07/2017 20:09

Oh blue, sorry it wasn't better news. Will keep everything tightly crossed.

geeup · 05/07/2017 21:27

So sorry to hear that blue. Really hope you're just one of those ladies where the hcg takes a while to get going. There's loads of people who have healthy babies after a slow start so all is not lost. Look after yourself and hope the days don't drag too badly. FlowersFlowersFlowers

geeup · 05/07/2017 21:28

And ps yes in the end it was a syringe but with a weird collar I hadn't seen before. All done now though thank god.

justtheonethen · 07/07/2017 14:12

gee hope it goes well today Smile

blue really hope you get good news today.
