Hi Smile

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

And what on earth do they mean by sluggish tubes?? Do they mean from the way eggs are swept down? How would they know this from using dye? This is very intriguing. Sorry to hear of this. I had a lap and dye and hysteroscopy in Dec and it's not pleasant x

hi serena!

Sorry about the driving test too maple. Was it your first try? I failed mine the first time as well!

Got my initial scan tomorrow. Eeek.

Lily35 · 03/05/2017 16:39

Ooo good luck Flirty!

SerenaMae · 03/05/2017 16:58

Sluggish tubes are exactly that but basically means I have a high chance of ectopic but my chances of conceiving are pretty much 0.

Good luck Flirty. Exciting!!

I think once I get to my first scan things will feel more real. At the moment it all seems too far away x

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 03/05/2017 17:27

Thanks! Smile

broodynmoody · 03/05/2017 18:26

maple that's balls! Did you take the pill first before down regging? There meant to stop cysts.
elle welcome! Good luck with the injections, it's a bit daunting but I'm managing them easily now

As of last night, The river is flowing red Blushso I rang them nurses today to book my baseline scan only to be told I can't yet cos my lining won't be thin enough and have to be downregging for 14 days at minimum (it's 14 days saturday) so I guess it'll be Monday for me which will knock back my back to week commencing the 22nd May. Oh well

broodynmoody · 03/05/2017 18:29

lily you'll be fine with the needles. Getting bloods taken is different than injection injecting, IVF ones are much smaller, go in to your belly fat rather than arm and hurt much less

maplebaby · 04/05/2017 07:52

Thanks everyone. Flirty yes it was my first time and I'm just so annoyed as it was totally my fault and it was right at the end - only had 2 minors before then! Hope your scan goes well today!

Broody yes I was on norethisterone from CD14 to CD25 - started buserelin on CD21. Glad AF came for you but sorry you have to wait the extra week. So frustrating to keep getting knocked back when you have geared yourself to start!

Lily35 · 04/05/2017 15:32

Flirty how was the scan??
I had needle teach today - all seems fine! Drugs arrive tomorrow and I start on Tuesday. Just trying to do an estimated plan for my own sanity - to try and see when I can fit a life round hospital visits :)

broodynmoody · 04/05/2017 18:51

lily I know the feeling of trying to find a life! I have to go down for bloods before work tomorrow and then I have my baseline scan on Monday afternoon. Have spent all day sorting to get my shift covered.
Bit anxious now, wanted them to do my scan tomorrow but they said I have to take buserelin for at least 14 days before I can start stimming! It'll be 13 days tomorrow. Can't help but feel they're being a bit awkward!

Lily35 · 04/05/2017 19:19

The 14 days of Buserelin seems like a long old time... does that mean Saturday scan instead Broody?

maplebaby · 04/05/2017 19:43

It's interesting how all the clinics do things differently! I think (looking at my paperwork) I stay on buserelin while I stim... if I ever get to that point!

broodynmoody · 04/05/2017 20:29

Lily I wish! They won't work weekends so it's Monday.
maple yes mines the same. You always stay on the buserelin all through out to stop your ovaries from releasing the egg. They down the dosage while your stimming though.

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 04/05/2017 22:40

maple that's exactly what I did too, so annoying!

lily it was fine thanks...just done my first injection tonight! Was a bit anxious beforehand but didn't hurt at all! How was needle teach? Do you feel better about the injections now?

Know what you mean about trying to have a life...had to cancel something I really wanted to do next week as I'd be home too late for my injections!

Lily35 · 05/05/2017 07:24

Teach was good thanks Flirty, needles seem really small and the Gonal is a pen so I'm feeling ok. Looking forward to finally starting. I do both my buserelin and Gonal In the morning / which seems different to other people again.

chivintassle · 05/05/2017 09:48

maple sorry to hear of driving test, get straight back on it and re-do. Sounds like just bit of bad luck, so don't stress about it. I did mine 20yrs ago and managed to get a cancellation (do they still do that?) good luck with the scan today, hope cyst is not issue.
elle agree re lack of info, I'm first timer nhs, but at private clinic, I've had nothing re diet, lifestyle anything really. Just given a sheet of paper with dates on. No explanation of what drugs etc. Just doing!
I'm on buserelin and now 3 pots which require mixing of menopur. No idea why these not others though. I chose to do them in the morning too, although with all the mixing now I've had to set alarm clock earlier!
flirty how was scan yesterday? Hope all well.

broodynmoody · 05/05/2017 12:38

chivin I agree with the lack of information the NHS can give.
I try to tell myself when they don't tell me anything or mix things up, that they see hundreds of people per week and this is free so I can't grumble.
I read up on IVF a lot before my treatment through various sites and it makes so much easier for myself and the nurses. I knew I had to go on pill before treatment, down regging then period, baseline scan and so on. I would recommend anyone to read as much as they can. I'm still playing it very by ear, have to phone up for blood results but I have no idea what there testing!

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 05/05/2017 12:40

chivin yes it was all OK thanks, I've started the injections now and go back Monday for the next scan. Sorry your clinic haven't been very informative! We got a fair bit from ours, I don't mind having a look through and seeing if I have any info if there's anything you were particularly interested/worried about?

Lily I've got the gonal pen too, that's what I did last night. It's really straightforward though I had to re-check I had the dose right several times before I did it just in case!

maple how was the scan today? Got my fingers crossed for you that all's OK!

maplebaby · 05/05/2017 13:21

Hi all - Went for my scan and the cyst is still there Sad was then sent to get my blood test (waited an hour) then back to the hospital for them to go through dosage if bloods come back ok! Now I'm at the pharmacy waiting to collect Norethisterone in case I need to start back in that again. Really hope the bloods come back ok but considering my rubbish few days I've had so far I'm not expecting to start this month.

Chivin i have my next test booked as my instructor books lots of them in advance! If I can go ahead with IVF I'll have it on 31st may but if not I'm going to ask to move it earlier if he can (I already asked him to move it so feel bad having to ask again!).

Glad you are all started now flirty!

Lily35 · 05/05/2017 14:21

Sorry to hear that Maple :(

Lily35 · 05/05/2017 14:23

Do any of you girls take an extra vitamin D supplement on top of your prenatal. My nurse told me to ensure I was getting enough yesterday and looking at my pre natal - the vit D is only the recommended daily amount for 'normal' people: 200iu
Reading up on the web - some people take a lot more than this for ivf.
I've just got a supplement that's 500iu so I'll be taking a total of 700iu per day - but is this enough? Hmm

chivintassle · 05/05/2017 15:08

maple good luck with bloods, but remember good things come to those who wait!
lily it's a good excuse to sit in the sun! That's a good way to get Vit D, or eat some cheese! My multi vit has 200% of rda, and berocca has 0, and my dr said just berocca was fine as supplement.

I have booked a space in the time lapse monitoring system....£600. Hope it's worth it. Seems there isn't much research, but can only help. Anyone done this or chosen not to?

blackcherries · 05/05/2017 15:21

chivin had to google that, not heard of it but sounds fascinating!

Been on buserelin for 2 weeks now and had baseline scan today - all ok. No stims for me this cycle as it's a FET but starting tablets tomorrow. This time next week I should know more about timings.

chivintassle · 05/05/2017 15:38

blackcherries tablets sound amazing compared to injecting 😂

Sweetdee6 · 05/05/2017 15:38

Anyone have their transfer done this week? I had it done on tuesday and am hating this 2ww!!
