Hi Smile

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

chivin im lucky in that my hospital is only a 10 miute drive away, couldnt do with all the commuting aswell! I havent took any time off now but just requested the week commencing 22nd May which is when my EC is due. I think its better than leaving it til the last minute.

Ive been put up to 3 vials now, 225iu after i phoned them today, bit nervous as i dont want OHSS, i have 40 follies!

chivintassle · 10/05/2017 16:53

maple booked in on Friday 11am, don't think bloods though, just scan. Think then get told if we're on track, and when EC is planned. They just said w/c 15th so far. And if to do the one that's in the fridge?
broody that sounds like a lot! Maybe I'll find out on Friday how many I have!!

Yeah I'm going to try and avoid stress for few days after, just to help out as much!

P.s agreed re toilet visits! 🙈

maplebaby · 10/05/2017 17:04

Haha glad it seems to be a common side effect Grin just had the call to say to carry on with 375iu until Friday. Not been told about EC at all - they say average stimming time is 12 days so that would put me in the w/c 15th too!

Broody did they do bloods? Maybe they think some are small so you may not have 40 mature ones?!

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 10/05/2017 17:43

broody I'm not on Menopur but also have to mix a vial with liquid and I was also really struggling with air in the syringe! I spoke to my mum who's a nurse and she said to have a look at this page which I found quite helpful: www.wikihow.com/Give-a-Subcutaneous-Injection

It's not exactly the same process as there's no change of needle but it definitely helped me understand what to do a bit more last night, I had no air in there!

79Karen · 10/05/2017 19:20

Hi, first time forum user!! Found out today that I will be beginning downregulation next Friday (19th) wondered who else is at similar stage? This will be our first round after 7 years ttc and 2mc's. diagnosed unexplained

broodynmoody · 10/05/2017 19:53

Thanks flirty ill have a read when im home -im at the mothers at the moment.

Ive just found something else to worry about..say if my EC is monday 22nd, and i can get my eggs to blastocyst stage, itll be saturday day 5 when clinic is closed, what happens? Surely if it waits til day 7 itll be too late?

broodynmoody · 10/05/2017 19:54

maple they did do bloods and said level was low so you may be right that there bot all mature

Ash75454 · 10/05/2017 20:29

Evening all

Chivin I wouldn't worry at all. Still early stages. I seem to respond slow to all stages and catch up quickly at end. At my first scan only had 3 or 4 over 10mm and ended up with 20 something, 15 fertilised and 9 at day 5.

chivintassle · 10/05/2017 21:19

broody I'm sure they have plans for weekend issues, they must have it all the time. Interested to hear what it is!!
Thanks Ash all she said at the day 0 scan was thin lining and hard to find ovaries which is normal. And just been here injecting away since. Think I'm just concerned as the doc dropped it on my that I have low reserve, when no one had mentioned it before. How low is low!!! Where are you in the cycle?

Lily35 · 10/05/2017 21:40

Broody I bet theatre side is open but bloods/scan side isnt. Don't worry :)
I'm on day 2 of Buserelin and having a hot flush already. Is that normal??? Or is it just the random weather or shower I just had?? How soon does Buserelin work??

Ash75454 · 10/05/2017 21:54

Then Chivin like they say you might only need one

I had my EC in December but cancelled my fresh transfer due to concerns re OHSS (see that and after concerns the numbers were low)

Since then a failed FET in Feb and I'm currently building up to next FET 24th May with plan to transfer two this time. Back on the estrofem which I also react slowly to which the joy of progesterone pessaries to come again soon. Something to look forward to down the line 😂

Feel your pain re the work situation too. No way I could tell them about the process. Taking time off a good call. I didn't Feb but am definitely off this time to just worry about me and take it easy.

broodynmoody · 10/05/2017 22:25

lily i had hot flushes straight away on buserelin. They do wear off
And yes ill be interested too on what they do x

blackcherries · 11/05/2017 00:08

Ash sorry about your unsuccessful FET. How many did you have frozen?

Luxnuova · 11/05/2017 03:19

Hi all - wow, so much happening for everyone. I apologise in advance for not keeping up with everyone's progress or keeping all the names in order! My brain is totally overloaded at the moment. But, Ticking that is such a good haul of eggs, congratulations! And, wow, Broody 40 is certainly a lot. Are you still stimming with that number?
Maple your scan sounds a bit like mine. I had my CD8 scan today, and they saw 4 follicles on each side that were big enough to measure (10mm-16mm, i think). I'm a little disappointed that there weren't more. Lining seems good, though, I think - it's at 10mm. I've been asked to come back in for another scan in a couple of days, and then I think they're likely to trigger me then. I'm hoping that a few other follies catch up in the meantime. My clinic has said nothing about protein, water, or any of the stuff many others seem to, so feel a little bit Confused about it all.

Like others I'm not telling anyone at work - I'm on a fixed contract, and am not sure how it's all going to play out for future employment. I've just got my fingers crossed that EC is scheduled for a day I'm not teaching.

I'm so sick of feeling like a pincushion. The gonal-f pen isn't too bad, though i always feel I'm losing a few drops at the end. But, man, the Orgalutran (the one for stopping O) stings and bruises.

Ash75454 · 11/05/2017 05:57

Hi blackcherries we had 9 frozen so 8 still there with two going in next attempt. Sounds like we will transfer around same time. Did you get any confirmation on your date?

maplebaby · 11/05/2017 08:25

Welcome karen best of luck with the down reg. so sorry for your losses Flowers

Broody I'm pretty sure they will be open to have a 5 day transfer - my NHS clinic is partnered with CRGH and aren't open at the weekends but I go to CRGH if I have weekend appointments and I think the doctors there decide what dose I'm on etc. Maybe yours has similar arrangements with another clinic?

I think re buserelin it stops your body from ovulating - something about stopping the pituitary glands telling your body to ovulate!

Lux I'm have another 3 scans and bloods booked in still! I guess it only takes one and we should hopefully avoid OHSS!

Ash that's a great haul to have frozen!

Lily35 · 11/05/2017 08:48

Hi karen - you aren't too far behind me :)
I am on day 3 of DR today. All going ok so far - hot flushes last night though which was very strange. I nearly punched OH in the face though as he was laughing LOL.
Had a tiny amount of liquid blob out this morning when I did my injection - I assume this is ok as it wasn't too much? Started to worry about it. Always something to worry about isn't there!?

elle77 · 11/05/2017 12:14

Finally feel like I can be part of the team as I started DR yesterday! A relief to get the process started. Two injections so far and both seem fine- will be looking out for your posts Lily as you are a day ahead!

Hi Karen, good luck for your first injection.

Hope all the mixing and injecting is going well for everyone.

This is my first time through the process and have only booked time off work for the actual time of the appointments- which usually means I'll arrive to work about 15 minutes late. Are there certain days within the cycle that would be better for me to take off? My job is pretty understanding.

79Karen · 11/05/2017 13:01

Thanks everyone, it's good to hear of everyone's experiences and what I've got to look forward to Smile my appointment with the nurse to run through the drugs and process went well yesterday, said made the injections look easy (not so sure) but I'm ready to start the process. The 3 litres of water a day is going to be difficult, I'm not the best a remembering to drink!

Did any of you have a scratch? I'm having one next week as well as saline test as I've previously had a polyp

Lily35 · 11/05/2017 13:28

I've found a good method is of having a pint glass on my desk at work and having 2 pints in the am and 2 pints in the afternoon with decaf tea etc as well. So I'm having about 2L pure water plus teas at the moment. And will up it at stims x

Lily35 · 11/05/2017 13:29

I really wanted a scratch but I don't get it unless I have a couple of failed cycles :(

79Karen · 11/05/2017 13:42

I didn't know much about it until it was mentioned and I read up. Found out that the clinic im at pioneered it so they're really promoting it. There's conflicting info as to whether it really increases your chances but we thought we'd give it a go. It's costing £160 though!

elle77 · 11/05/2017 14:02

Hey Karen, I had saline test and the scratch yesterday before starting the DR injections- no history of anything wrong with me though so I presumed they recommended it to everyone! I have been given antibiotics for 8 days to reduce the risk of infection from the scratch. I thought it worth a go so have just said yes to pretty much everything! I'm the same with water! I have 2 massive cups of mint tea in the morning (about 400ml per cup) and have then manage another litre of water by the time I leave work. Plus evening drinks! The Dr I spoke to yesterday said 2 litres was fine (was advised by nurse 2-3 litres)- have spend most of the past few days running for a wee! Looking forward to the lovely glowing skin that lots of water is supposed to bring!

tickingcl0ck · 11/05/2017 16:18

Wow seems like everyones got something going on whether just starting or nearing the egg transfer.

Welcome karen I think elle is the one who has just started downregulating so she would be the closest to you. we missed out on the scratch coz my husband and I did the did and did not read the fine print of NOT having sex prior to the scratch...and 160 is a good price, our hospital would have charged us 250 for it..its my first time with IVF as well..were doing ICSI

maple you might even do stimms shorter, I did mine for 10 days. its really dependent on what they see on scans and estradiol levels...originally i was down for 3 scans but on my 2nd scan they said I would go for EC..

broody i hope your clinic has special measures for saturday. Where I am, they open on Saturdays for those needing embryo transfers. the 1cc syringes they give out is prone to having air bubbles. I tap the syringe from bottom to up when I was drawing up my Buserelin before.

lily yes the hot flushes is part of the package unfortunately and I wouldnt worry about the blob much. The nurses advised me to count to 5 before taking the syringe out. thats weird that they wouldnt give your the scratch unless youve failed. where I am, they offered it to us as an option but would pay for it as its not covered by NHS

ash did you find the progesterone pessaries aggravated the bloating? or caused constipation? sorry, you dont have to answer if its TMI

hi lux thank you, with those numbers does that mean youre having your egg collection next week?

elle it really depends on how your body is coping with all the meds. Ive been on annual leave since I started stimming and Im glad I did coz the headaches were just unrelenting but like I said, it varies on how youre coping. Some still carry on with work until its EC.

It was a bit of mixed emotions today. The lab called and said there were 3 good quality eggs and 2 eggs that were dividing but slower. They left it to us to decide on whether we go today or push for the 5 day transfer on Saturday. My husband and I had a very long conversation and decided to have the transfer done on Saturday. We told ourselves to be ready for the possibility that there might be nothing by Saturday. No one said it would be easy, but we can only hope.

and apologies if I have missed anyone

maplebaby · 11/05/2017 17:55

Lily I wouldn't worry about the blob - I've had that before too!

Elle I haven't taken time off but will obviously take time off for EC and ET. I will probably take at least another day after EC off but likely to go back to work the day after ET.

Karen I am struggling to drink the water too - I think I'm managing 2 litres but 3 litres would be hard for me!! I didn't get the scratch this time but will consider it next time if it doesn't work out!

Ticking I think I would have made the same decision as you, although I would want some guidance the embryologist - did they say either way? Only a few days to go - come on embies 🤞🏻
