Hi ,

Would love some advise from you ladies. I’m 37 years young and have a lovely 15 year old .. however I met the man of my dreams 6 years ago and married just recently and would love another baby. I have infertility for years . In 2008 I had an ectopic and had left tube removed in the past I had chance to have the Hycosy scan but I wimped out !! Hmm so annoyed as this possibly could of helped ! This was all when I was 34/5 . Now my doctors say they won’t help as I’m over 35 !! I do remember doing all the ovulation test at home and didn’t ovulate !! I will be trying this again this month . Is there any advise for me , what route you ladies would go ? Has any one tried acupuncture or herbal tablets maybe ? I’m just stuck and don’t know where to start . Thanks in advance Smile

@barnacles2020 - I have a 3-yr-old DS from cycling with Hammersmith hospital. Dr Lavery is wonderful and so are Antonio and George - wishing you all the luck in the world Thanks

Hello @givemesteel clueless thanks for reporting back I hope you are all Ok!

I am now 13 weeks pregnant and everything looks ok so I am going to try my very best to relax and enjoy it from now on as sometimes I still can't believe it actually happened for us. X

Hello,
Feeling very low and helpless and looking for some advice. I have been trying to conceive my second child for over a year now and just don’t know what is wrong. I have had blood tests and there doesn’t appear to be any problems. I just don’t know what to do. I am trying so hard to keep positive and believe it will happen because I can’t cope with the thought that it won’t. Can anyone give me advice on what to do? Should I push for more help at the doctors? I am a very private person and won’t share with friends but they keep asking and making comments and it makes me feel so much worse; I don’t want to make it a problem but it maybe is. Please help Sad

I'd like to join please. In need of support / wise words / something today. Another crap GP appointment has me frustrated and not sure what to do next.
dd was conceived pretty instantly 5 years ago. TTC #2 for over two years now, am 40 this year Sad, strange irregular short cycles 18-24 days long. GP unhurried and unhelpful really. been in to have results of 21 day test etc, only to be told by different GP that this was pointless as should really have the test earlier if my cycles are shorter, so have to wait another month to find out if I ovulated. I'm pretty sure I do ovulate because I track my symptoms like a crazy obsessed person.
I've read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, I've found OPKs pointless ( because of irregular cycles), and temping difficult to manage with my poor sleeper dd to deal with in the mornings. Patronised by a male GP - because my 'anecdotal' experiences of my ov symptoms aren't enough information, and feel fobbed off, again. This is the second time I've been made to feel by a GP that as I have a child already I should just suck it up.

I feel I'm failing DD by not giving her a sibling, the potential age gap is widening, she has a frequently sad mummy to look after her. I feel guilty for feeling desperate when I already have a child, and I feel old because I'm running out of time.

I want to be proactive, so I'm going to RTFT now, after that big vent. thanks for reading.

Hi @livelife215 sorry to hear your struggles. I was very private about our secondary Infertility too, i just felt like a failure but I honestly felt better when I opened up to one close friend. It may feel like a lifetime but a year really isn't long in I fertility terms - testing takes forever! Where are you up to in terms of tests? Have you been referred yet? How can we help you? X

AurorasEncore · 08/05/2018 18:25

Hi @albiebee everything you say I can relate to. Same as above really have you had a referral yet? Keep pushing. I'd advise you to post on the main fertility board re unusual cycles as there is lots of experience there. Obviously your age may be a factor here, have you had AMH tested? What was your fsh result?

It's strange but the majority of people with secondary I fertility seemed to conceive number 1 right away so to have problems is so unexpected and painful x

AurorasEncore · 08/05/2018 18:32

Hi @suzi80 sorry I missed you out. Where are you up to with testing and referrals? X

Livelife215 · 09/05/2018 11:29

Hello,
Thank you so much for replying it means the world to me and will keep me positive. So I’ve had blood tests done and all was fine. Trying to convince my husband to do his sample. I’ve been ok this month but I know as my period approaches I’ll start to stress out. I’m 32, husband 34. Conceived first time first month.
In terms of help, any advice would be grateful. Just so nice to have a response, thank you xx

AurorasEncore · 09/05/2018 17:00

Hi @livelife215 is your doctor wanting to check sperm before they refer you to the fertility clinic? I'd ring up and check with the clinic first because we waited 3 months for our sperm test appointment and when we finally saw our consultant they wanted to do it in their own lab so it was a massive waste of time. I'd advise you to get it checked asap because if his swimmers are are little slow or abnormal you may have your infertility answer right there. Something as simple (in terms of Infertility treatment) as IUI may work for you. I think on the previous thread 2 ladies got pregnant after IUI.

Whilst you are waiting for your referral I'd advise you to ask the clinic if they test AMH. Some do and some don't. If not you could get this done yourself whilst you are waiting - medichecks online do it quite cheaply they send you a kit in the post and you take a few drops of blood via finger prick and post it back. its useful to know AMH as it reveals your egg reserve.

Have you read through our previous secondary I fertility thread? Google "secondary infertility ideas and success stories" and it should come up. Lots of helpful info on there.

Flossylolly85 · 16/05/2018 14:26

Hi All,
Hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread too.
I have a DD from a previous relationship, DH and I have been trying for over 18 months. I had an early miscarriage and then a missed miscarriage in quick succession, but we've not had any luck for over a year. We've had tests done and so far all my tests have come back okay, but DH has sperm issues across the board. We've started down the fertility treatment route and waiting to start our consent app for IVF ICSI.
I also irregular periods as in they vary in length from 24-27 days long and have a short LP, which is only roughly about 10 days long. We have given up on using OPK's in the hope that it will help us take a more 'relaxed' approach and just have regular sex.
So I 100% know I ovulated this month (pain, EWCM etc) but don't know exact date. I'm now cycle day 30 and roughly 11/12dpo still no AF which I've never a cycle this long. I also did a cheapie pregnancy test this morning (100 from ebay for £3 job haha) but got a BFN.
I keep having the odd cramps and funny feeling in my b__bs, but they aren't sore.
Anyone else had this before and got any views on it, or more importantly think that I could still get a BFP??
Thanks x

CatRen27 · 17/05/2018 03:45

Hi can i join? Been ttc #2 for 24 cycles now, dc1 was conceived in 3 cycles so I'm so shocked it's taking this long.

I'm almost 36
DD 3yo

I've had a uterine polyp removed and an endometriosis diagnosis (minor) but all tests since then for dh and me have come back normal so fertility specialists think it should happen naturally. I have amh level of 85 ffs, so there's nothing wrong just no bfp. Cp last month was a ray of hope though.

We'll be starting ivf in August so trying our luck in the meantime. Charting and opk-ing like a mofo.

Hoping to find some solidarity in this group!
