WANTED- cycle buddies who are ttc#1 and planning a FET in April/May

RoseBud2016 · 09/03/2016 17:49

I'm in need of some buddies! Smile

A long story short is that I have been ttc#1 for 19 months now. I have severe PCOS and don't ov or cycle naturally.
Last year I was told that DH and I would only have a chance of conceiving through IVF, after numerous other fertility treatments failed.

In February this year we had our first ISCI IVF cycle at Reprofit in the Czech Republic (DH has 2 DDs so we are not eligible for treatment on the NHS) We got 12 eggs, 8 fertilised and 6 made it to blasts! We had one transferred and fell pregnant! But at 4+4 blood tests confirmed that the pregnancy wasn't viable and at 5 weeks we had a very early mc (I hate the phrase CP as I think it trivialises it)

The last few weeks have been such a struggle physically and mentally but we are keen to try again so are planning another trip to Reprofit to be reunited with one of our Frosties! Smile

Scared and excited in equal measures and would love some buddies to share in this new and unknown part of the 'journey' with. X

Hi all - just to say I got my first beta back and it is looking nice and strong - hcg at 427 and progesterone at 83.5 (I don't actually know what that means other than it is ok!). Going back on Wednesday to check that the hcg is going up appropriately but hooray, another link in the chain Smile

Grumpelstiltskin · 25/04/2016 19:34

That's great news, stealth, though I was never given my hCG or progesterone numbers so am equally clueless as to exactly how good it is.
Pleased for you in my simple way though! How are you feeling? Getting any more symptoms?

How's everyone else doing? Mrsc was today otd? Hope you're ok if the news wasn't the result you wanted. It's totally shit even if you already half-expected it. Thinking of you.

Banana I am raging for you on the baby bomb front. It's so thoughtless - and especially hurtful when it's a good friend who you'd hoped would be more understanding. Bastards.
Good to see you're locked and loaded for hysteroscopy though. So hoping it sorts you out once and for all.

I start practise-OPKing tomorrow, CD9, to check I know how to do it properly for FET cycle next month. That's literally the only thing going on here! Practise-weeing. Well, actual-weeing of course, to be medically precise, but practise stick-weeing. Ho hum.

stealthbanana · 25/04/2016 21:41

Thanks grumpel. Cautious optimism growing by the day! I'm feeling mildly rough - bit queasy and tired etc. And have had a few sort-of-cramps today - not actual cramps, just a dull thick feeling in my tummy and sort of weird pulling sensations in my rib cage. Boobs are a little bit tender too. So all in all, not too bad! Will feel a bit more confident when I have my second beta (assuming it's all ok). Might try to relax a bit then!

stealthbanana · 25/04/2016 21:41

Ps mrschris hoping you are ok xxx

stealthbanana · 25/04/2016 21:42

And grumpel stick weeping practise sounds...erm...well, have fun! Grin

stealthbanana · 25/04/2016 21:43

*weeing not weeping! Although we've all wept over sticks before, I imagine

Vixxfacee · 25/04/2016 22:23

I just laughed out loud at practising weeing Grin

Stealth I'm so happy for you! How long till the first scan is it 2 weeks?

Banana sorry to read about the baby bombing. It's absolutely shit!

Mrs Chris how are you doing?

Rose hi hope you're alright.

stealthbanana · 26/04/2016 06:32

Not sure vixx I'm 4+3 today and the scan will happen in weeks 6 or 7. So 2 or 3 weeks! Will find out on Wednesday when I have my second beta.

How are you feeling?

Vixxfacee · 26/04/2016 08:11

Are you believing it yet?!

I am ok just really really tired. Been on the bureselin so long now!

My friend had the cheek to say "Oh it's gone so quick" when I said transfer is next week Hmm

stealthbanana · 26/04/2016 10:06

It's not quite real yet! Will maybe feel more like reality after my second beta.

Yes it has been ages! Time really drags when you're going through all this. So glad you're getting to the pointy end of the process though.

RoseBud2016 · 26/04/2016 15:50

Took a test this morn- DPO 9/10 I think - BFN obviously! So I've started a 5 day course of Provera today to induce a bleed.

I'm feeling really negative about everything at the mo do I'm hoping you lovely ladies can perk me up as AF gets closer and I start my meds.

Good luck with second beta Stealth

Hope your drug taking is going well Vixx and you are feeling ok?

Grumpel How are you doing? X

Vixxfacee · 26/04/2016 15:53

Rose sorry it's a BFN but I am happy that you can start this round! You are officially starting your FET and that can only be good news. Sorry your feeling so shit Sad

The bureselin and progynova isn't making me feel quite ill. Currently lying on the sofa in my office!

RoseBud2016 · 26/04/2016 15:53

DPO 9/10 if I actually ov'ed which I probably didn't so...... Nothing lost nothing gained I suppose!

Thanks Vixx Glad to be getting started again just feeling sad that this may all be for nothing again. I know that's how we all feel when having a FET or a round of IVF so at least I'm in good company! When's your next scan?

Wish I had a sofa in my office so I could sleep zzzz

Vixxfacee · 26/04/2016 17:34

I am pretty much at the mindset of thinking I am not carrying on if it doesn't work. Really trying to be positive.

My scan is on Monday morning so hopefully I can get a date for transfer.

Once you have the induced bleed what is your time frame looking like?

RoseBud2016 · 26/04/2016 17:41

Vixx I'll have my fingers crossed for you until Monday! I've read that pomegranate juice is supposed to promote lining tissue growth- just a disgusting sounding idea!

So my timescale is Provera for 5 days, usually AF arrives between 4-8 days later. Then transfer between CD19-21 of next cycle. So I'm probably looking at last week of May X

I will get some of that juice. Very strange it promotes womb lining growth!

It's not long for you. 4 weeks!

RoseBud2016 · 26/04/2016 17:57

Oh almost forgot to update you all.... I told Reprofit that I had got a prescription for Thyroxine from my GP so not to worry about sending me one and my FET coordinator replied by saying that they would certainly not advise me taking it without consulting with an endocrinologist first!
She says "It takes Thyroxin a long time to be effective, its amounts need to be adjusted according to blood levels.
If you start taking it, it is difficult to "go back". There might be some changes in weight and emotions.
You will need to take it and adjust levels also in pregnancy.
In one word - consult an endocrinologyst first"

So now I'm back to square one! Find a endocrinologist to do a consultation or leave it for now! Arggghhh!

Am so excited for both of you! Sorry you're both feeling so down Flowers Am not going to tell you to cheer up as a) that would be massively hypocritical and b) it's bhllshit anyway, but both of you have good odds of success so it's certainly worth a try. And fet is so much less stress than a fresh.

vixx the progynova totally knocked me out too. I basically feel no different pregnant if I am pregnant to how I've felt through the whole stims & FET process. Like a whole other first trimester of crap!

rose personally I would take the thyroxine. You definitely need to be monitored so will need follow up blood tests but your GP can do that! You will also need monitoring if you get your BFP as the dose may have to be adjusted at that point. But there's no reason per se why you need to trot off to an endocrinologist if your GP is happy to treat. Some of the London clinics (ARGC et al) won't even start a cycle until the tsh is under 2! I really think it's worth pursuing.

Grumpelstiltskin · 26/04/2016 19:46

I agree with stealth, a moderate to light thyroid issue is fine to be monitored via your GP, and you are very light, rose. Even my random TSH jump to 26 didn't spark anything more than a standard 'take some more** thyroxine' from my doc. It's a safe drug that simply mimics exactly what your thyroid produces. Just ask to be monitored monthly with bloods as it does take around 4 weeks to have any effect and it's in your interest to know how it's panning out for your treatment anyway.

We'll be FETting around the same time, rose! Looking like end of May for me too, if AF is regular (hmm). The same week I move house. Classic.

ThanksChocolate to you all.

Hey - is there a new MN emoji?? Anger-dragon! Dragon

RoseBud2016 · 26/04/2016 21:17

I'm also on meds to help me sleep at the mo so I may leave the thyroxine for now. Get my sleep pattern under control and off the pills, then start the thyroxine. My GP has offered me blood tests every 6 weeks to monitor it so I don't think I'm being irresponsible. I have a consultation with my NHS consultant at the beginning of May (probably the last one before they tell me I have to be discharged from NHS care) so I'll definitely get her opinion (and the ordicinologist she works alongside Grin) then.

Thanks for your thoughts though I definitely agree with you hope.

Cycle buddies Grumpels Woop! Love a Pringle munching cycle buddy Grin X
