WANTED- cycle buddies who are ttc#1 and planning a FET in April/May

RoseBud2016 · 09/03/2016 17:49

I'm in need of some buddies! Smile

A long story short is that I have been ttc#1 for 19 months now. I have severe PCOS and don't ov or cycle naturally.
Last year I was told that DH and I would only have a chance of conceiving through IVF, after numerous other fertility treatments failed.

In February this year we had our first ISCI IVF cycle at Reprofit in the Czech Republic (DH has 2 DDs so we are not eligible for treatment on the NHS) We got 12 eggs, 8 fertilised and 6 made it to blasts! We had one transferred and fell pregnant! But at 4+4 blood tests confirmed that the pregnancy wasn't viable and at 5 weeks we had a very early mc (I hate the phrase CP as I think it trivialises it)

The last few weeks have been such a struggle physically and mentally but we are keen to try again so are planning another trip to Reprofit to be reunited with one of our Frosties! Smile

Scared and excited in equal measures and would love some buddies to share in this new and unknown part of the 'journey' with. X

rose sounds like you've got enough on your plate with the sleeping meds. Hope you're ok - no sleep is just the worst x

And cycle buddies are fab Smile

stealthbanana · 27/04/2016 16:32

Just got my second beta back.

Beta itself was spot on at 849, so almost a perfect double in 48hours (last time was 427). However my progesterone dropped a little bit (she didn't give me the number) Confused. So I'm upping my cyclogest. Really hoping this is ok...not sure what it all means....

Vixxfacee · 27/04/2016 22:07

Grump when's AF due?

Rose sorry to hear you're not sleeping properly. Is it linked to what's been going on with the ivf?

Stealth that's fantastic news! By doubling it's doing exactly what you want it to!

stealthbanana · 27/04/2016 22:19

Hi vixx! Yes the hcg is great news. The progesterone not so much - it turns out it's dropped to 27 Shock. Dosage of cyclogest has been upped and the consultant has ordered me to use them rectally only to improve the absorption - delightful! I don't know wtf happens in 2 days to take progesterone from 83 to 27 - the consultant is not worried it's a miscarriage as the hcg is high and doubling perfectly, so I'll just have to keep medicating and sit tight. Stress!

Vixxfacee · 27/04/2016 22:23

The progesterone is to support the pregnancy and is it also produced naturally too?

That's why they monitor so they can adjust the dosage! Also quick question regarding cyclogest.. Did you insert it vaginally (how was that?) And how was it rectally?

stealthbanana · 27/04/2016 22:39

Yes the progesterone is normally produced by the corpus luteum (the bit of the follicle that's left behind after you ovulate/have EC). But of course you don't do that with a medicated fet!

Yes I've been popping them in vaginally. It's been totally fine. They are tiny - the size of a bullet. Much smaller than a tampon. Rectally...well, you know, it's not the most fun but it doesn't hurt and it's all for a good cause Grin

RoseBud2016 · 28/04/2016 07:20

Sorry to hear about the progesterone levels but as you say the hcg is riding perfectly so try to stay positive Stealth

Vixx i found the pessaries inserted vaginally to be an absolute pain- they were easy enough to insert etc but I felt like a lot of the medication seeped out way too quickly. I'm trying progesterone injections this time as I'm paranoid I'm not doing the pessaries right. But as Stealth said taking the pessaries rectally is another option and apparently leaves far less mess.

Yeah my sleeping pattern problems are definitely IVF related. I'm seeing a counsellor now too. I think I've just bottled everything up for too long and need to get it out. That's what my GP thinks and I'm inclined to agree. I'm a skilled internaliser!

stealthbanana · 28/04/2016 08:35

I can confirm that the back way is far less messy!

Thanks rose. Really glad you're seeing someone. Hopefully it's a comfort to be able to talk about everything in a safe space with someone who is not invested in anything but your well being.

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 12:57

Hi everyone! Hope you all are having nice long weekends. I'm working today, le sigh, it's not a bank holiday in the U.S. so everything rolls on!

vixx did you have your scan this morning? Hope it all went well.

rose hope you're hanging in there x

grumpel what news?

Vixxfacee · 02/05/2016 14:30

Hi Stealth,do you live in the US? I never knew that (not that I'd have any reason to but you know!).

How's it going?
I had my scan this morning. Womb lining is 9.7 and transfer booked in for Tuesday!

Vixxfacee · 02/05/2016 14:30

The ivf threads are all really quiet!

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 14:51

No I live in London, vixx, but I work for am American company so I travel there often and have to work all the bloody time quasi American hours. Except when it's a U.S. bank holiday when I seem to have to work here anyway!

I know, it's quiet round here, it seems like a lot of people started cycling around Jan/Feb and then either were successful and graduated or weren't and are in hiatus and hiding away right now.

Do you mean transfer booked tomorrow?? Or next Tuesday? That's so exciting! Lining sounds bloody marvellous too, nice and cushy.

Grumpelstiltskin · 02/05/2016 15:41

Vixx That's fantastic news! Tuesday as in tomorrow?!! Keep us updated.

How you feeling, stealth, other than narked at working the BH? Hope the extra progesterone is doing the trick.

Yep, it's really quiet on here, isn't it! Had a nice bank hol weekend away myself and just back now.
Think I ov'd over the weekend (cramping but no ewcm and temp has now gone up a bit) but nothing definitive on an opk. Gah! Going to splash out on posh Clearblue ones for next month where it matters in case the cheap internet ones are the issue rather than me being shit at it. Stressful. Let's hope I've ironidiffed, so I don't have to fanny about the next cycle anxiously peeing on sticks every 32 seconds.

Vixxfacee · 02/05/2016 15:59

No Tuesday 10th! Need to stop the bureselin in a few days and start the cyclogest.
Stealth what was your lining when you had the transfer?

That sounds fun travelling for work!

Grump thank you. What opk do you use? My friend suggested the clear blue on that you can continue using.

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 16:12

Woo hoo! You have a date. Excited for you!

Mine was 8.2mm at my last scan, which was 8 days before transfer (same as you). Then at et it was 8.1mm (the progesterone compacts the lining so it got thicker and then thinner). So you are in excellent shape!

RoseBud2016 · 02/05/2016 16:12

Hello my lovelies!
Feeling a little better after getting a full 8 hours sleep last night! Shock Haven't slept that well in a couple of months so feel like a new woman today Smile

I finished my 5 day course of Provera yesterday so I'm hoping AF will turn up by middle of the wk so we can get this FET cycle started finally!

Vixx so glad that your lining is thickening up so well and you have a transfer date Eek! You must be so pleased! Did you do anything in particular to help your lining along in the end?

Stealth Booooooo for the working on a bank holiday Monday How are you doing? Any more news on your progesterone levels? Do you have a scan date? X

RoseBud2016 · 02/05/2016 16:15

Grumpel OPKs really are the work of the devil! For me I got positives on months when I knew I hadn't ov'ed (due to temps and clomid scans) and negatives on the one month when I did actually ov on clomid! I know some people swear by the clear blue dual hormone ones though so gotta be worth a try! X

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 16:19

grump those opks sound annoying. Don't have any top tips, I'm afraid, as I never got to grips with them. Fx for the ironidiff!

Vixxfacee · 02/05/2016 16:24

Rose glad you are feeling better and you are on the way to starting!

I am excited about a date and I am going to take friday to Friday off. Not sure what I will be doing during that time.

I didn't do anything with the lining. I bought some pomegranates and juice and thought I'd start eating and drinking closer to the time.

I have read that all clinics have different preferences for lining.

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 16:27

rose! Cross post. Glad you got some sleep & are feeling chipper.

Am feeling ok, still nauseous and crampy. Next blood test is Thursday, assume if that's ok that's when we'll sort out a scan date. I made myself feel a bit better kept the mental at bay by doing a couple of clear blue digi week thingys that duly went from 2-3weeks to 3+ at the same time I hit 5wks preg so I figure my hcg must be rising still ignores the fact they're utterly unreliable Roll on Thursday!

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 16:27

vixx I think anything over 8mm is good. 7mm is ok, anything under that is a bit touch and go I think.

RoseBud2016 · 02/05/2016 17:15

Vixx- As Stealth said your lining is a fab thickness so you have nothing to worry about there. Time off sounds like a good plan. I'm planning to do the same thing this time too rather than going back to work the day after!

Stealth That's great news that the digi is going up in line with your dates. Definitely a good sign! And I imagine nausea is a good sign too although in sure it doesn't feel like it from your point of view X

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 02/05/2016 17:19

Nausea is definitely a good sign. Plus if the digital is going up you can start to relax a bit.

Rose how long will you take off?

stealthbanana · 02/05/2016 19:19

I hope so! I just keep reminding myself that I don't actually have an hcg issue - my 2 betas were pretty high (425 on 10dp5dt and 847 at 12dpt). It's just the effing progesterone! Hopefully the extra dosage has done the trick.

I would defo take some time off if/when doing anothe transfer. Some people say work is a good distraction, but I was just non compos mentis and it wasn't good. Maybe if your job is sitting in a locked room by yourself sorting paper or something it might be good, but next time I'll be going mental by a pool somewhere!

RoseBud2016 · 02/05/2016 19:26

Vixx If AF arrives on Weds as expected which, lets face it, would be a miracle- I'll have the week before half term off (as part of my schools fertility policy to give me time off for treatment) and the week of half term off.
It would work out perfectly! But we will see if my body decides to behave itself or not.

Stealth I have a sneaky feeling you're not going to need to worry about your next transfer for a long time yet! Smile I'm keeping everything crossed for you and your little one. Have you worked out your EDD?
