Hello!

We had IVF ICSI in January 2014 which resulted in our little boy born in October 2014. We started trying again when he's was 9 months hoping that nature would be on our side this time but after 3 months we decided to speak to the FC again to see if it was even worth bothering to try naturally. It wasn't and so we are to start IVF again very soon.

Looking for others going through the same thing if possible to be my buddy's Smile

Well af arrived this morning so all systems go! I'll be ringing the clinic in the morning then see when to pick up drugs, scary!!
Welcome Roxy, I've no experience with nasal spray but sounds like we'll be sharing simalar journeys around the same time! Good luck! X

Smileybobs29 · 27/06/2016 19:04

I've rang the clinic today and just awaiting my appointment in the post to start, they asked me if I wanted embryo glue, I don't recall this the first time around so not really sure about it, I said yes but just wondering if anyone else has had it and thinks it's a good idea? There's an additional fee for it but if it's worth it I don't mind, has anyone experienced this? Xx

Bunnygirlie · 27/06/2016 20:56

Welcome Roxy!
*
Smiley* there's not much proof that the glue works so I didn't have it for my fresh or frozen cycle so tempted to have it this time, and a scratch too, third time lucky eh!

I had heard about the scratch but didn't have that last time and worked, but not heard about this glue thing! She just said on the phone it helps embryo to attach? May give it ago then! Thank you! Yes you should do it you never know and least you won't be wondering and yes 3rd time lucky for you!!! 🍀 your meeting with hosp will be soon won't it? X

Hi! Hope it's ok to join? This is my very first post - I have a 22 mo DO born after IVF, ICSI, FET then finally successful IVF. We have four embies on ice and I started Buserelin yesterday - seems like a long time since the last round. Apologies if I mess up as I've never been on a chat room before (though I stalked them all through my year of ivf last time). Really good luck to everyone going through it at the moment and big hugs to those who it hasn't worked for this time. Xxxx

GemBee · 01/07/2016 09:35

Welcome roxy and gilbert! Glad you could join in the conversation - always good to have a sounding board. I had the spray for my two cycles and it seemed like the regular practice here. I've also heard about the embryo glue and that it's scientifically unproven. But then I had a huge improvement in egg size and quality in the cycle I did acupuncture and I think that's scientifically unproven too. So I think anything is worth a try.

Good luck ladies, may the force be with you! Our Little IVFling turns two in a few days, that time has been an blur of absolute sleep deprivation and overwhelming love. So worth it ❤️

GemBee · 01/07/2016 09:36

Oh, also a question for those who haven't got any frosties - have you ever thought about or looked into embryo adoption?

GilbertBlythe4JM · 02/07/2016 06:04

How does embryo adoption work? Is there like a 'bank' somewhere of embies waiting to be adopted?

GemBee · 02/07/2016 08:24

As far as I can tell in Australia there's no embryo bank as such, but certain clinics will help you find embryos that other couples may have frozen and not need anymore. There's also 'classifieds' on different websites where people can post wanted ads or advertise embryos (not for financial gain).

Hello, my clinic said a fet transfer takes around 8 weeks. Does anyone know If that 8 weeks is counted from when I ring up on the first day of my period? I'm more nervous now on my fet than I was on my fresh.

GilbertBlythe4JM · 08/07/2016 21:44

From what I remember (and there are certainly people on here who have done an fet more recently than me), I think it's from that first phone call on the first day of yr period (do you start Buserelin on day 21?) to test day. Good luck! I'm on day 9 of Buserelin xx

dani24 · 08/07/2016 21:48

Thank you for your reply. They just told me to ring up on day 1 of my next period which is about 3 weeks away and they will give me my buserelin. They didn't tell me what day I will start it though. I didn't think of these questions while I was there x

dani24 · 08/07/2016 22:03

I meant to say good luck to you aswel. How are you feeling on the Buserelin?

GilbertBlythe4JM · 08/07/2016 22:16

Bit woolly headed which I do remember being my main symptom across the previous four rounds. I've had a horrible cough/cold so been in bed for past three days just trying to sleep it off. It's always anxiety making to get ill during a cycle, isn't it? Having said that, it seems much less the centre of our life than previously, I guess, like others have said, because of having a LO now. Too busy rushing around to brood! Plus none of the overwhelming fear of being childless that dominated it all before...x

Smileybobs29 · 12/07/2016 21:25

Hi ladies! Hope your all well!
Been in today for my mock embryo transfer and to collect my drugs, I am definitely doing the short protocol this time around but still lots of injections and drugs! Start first lot on Saturday, so this is it its really happening now! Petrified!!

sunshineonarainyday1 · 14/07/2016 20:19

Ladies

Sorry for being AWOL for a while. No reason for it really, other than a busy life with a 22mo! Welcome to all the newbies....let's hope your stay on here will be a short one! Wink

I am three days into my buserelin injections. Scan a week tue to see what's going on and then should start the oestrogen tablets. If all goes to plan this time we should be looking at week of August 8th for FET...fingers crossed.

Interesting talk of embryo adoption. If all goes to plan this month we will have three frosties sitting in the freezer likely never to be used. I would hate to think that they'd never become a human life and would love them to go to another couple.... although big part of me would wonder what they'd become and I'm not sure I could cope with ever meeting them knowing I never gave birth to them or raised them....it's such a difficult thing to decide upon. Obviously got to get pregnant first but this might be a dilemma for the future.

Is anyone else looking at transfer at similar time? To all those injecting how's it going? I got a bit pissed off with it yesterday if I'm honest. It really hurt when I put the needle in and it just made me mad to think that I've got to do this to have another baby when other women do not! So bloody unfair. But then I remember that I'm not alone. We are all here doing it (or have done it) and then are millions of other women having to do it. And I look at my DD and know it's worth every stinging bleeding needle!

sunshineonarainyday1 · 14/07/2016 20:20

Ps smiley, whats a mock embryo transfer exactly?

Smileybobs29 · 14/07/2016 22:41

Hi sunshine!
The mock transfer is a practice run so they can see exactly the best way to position the embryos on the day. Did you not have to do that? I remember having it last time around too. I'm not having buserilin injections this time around as doing short protocol but I start my leg injections in about a weeks time, I think my ET should be around the same time as you possibly few days later!
Your allowed to get pissed off, I know I certainly do, in my job I have to work with so many u deserving parents who take their children for granted and prioritise their life style and i have to wonder, why does it come so easy to them and not for me?! Suppose all we can do is keep going!
X

GemBee · 15/07/2016 12:04

I've not heard of a mock transfer before either. Wouldn't they be able to see on the day of actual transfer the best spot to place the embryos?
However there seems to be a few differences between the UK/Aus in terms of the process and meds so maybe this is just another variation.

We weren't sure about how we'd feel about being on the other side as embryo adoptees. Would it feel the same as having your biological child? How do you explain it to the child as they get older? Would they have the same drive as most adopted kids do to meet their biological parents? So many questions.

GilbertBlythe4JM · 16/07/2016 07:36

I think my ET should be around the week of August 1? My period just started so I guess I'll start my oestradiol on Monday. I think my endo took quite a whole to plump up last time I did an fet, so am only guessing about the ET date.
Can I ask a really stupid question? Would you have a spray tan during ivf (pre ET). I've got a wedding in two weeks and just feel so knackered - a tan would cover all that but would you be concerned about breathing stuff in? Am I being mental to even worry about it?

Laurajon33 · 16/07/2016 10:57

Hi Bunny. I wish you luck on your second ivf. Im just starting my first one. Start my jabs 24th July. Excited but anxious. I hope i have some luck x

GilbertBlythe4JM · 27/07/2016 15:50

FET booked in for Tues 1 August. Had scan today - lining 9.8 (I was obsessed with the thickness through the previous four rounds). I had a 'learner' doctor scanning me so I feel a bit knocked about inside - it took her a long time to find my (retroverted) uterus! Can't really believe it's happening next week - life is so busy now I haven't had time to brood and worry in the same way as before. Maybe that'll help? Anyone else got their transfer next week? Xx

Smileybobs29 · 27/07/2016 20:40

Panicking here and I hope Unnecessarily! With tonight's leg injection I forgot to push the air out of the syringe as I have been doing as was in the instructions... So I'm pretty sure I injected air! Is this dangerous and will it affect the drug? Someone put me out of my misery!

GilbertBlythe4JM · 27/07/2016 20:55

My hubby just looked it up and he thinks as long as it's not into a vein it's ok (he's not medical though!) Xx

Smileybobs29 · 27/07/2016 21:42

Thanks Gilbert, That's what I found too when I googled it, just wanted reassurance because I'm a compulsive worrier!
Good luck with your FET next week. I've got a scan on Monday to see how things are developing so i'm sure I'll find out about this air thing then!
