Hello!

We had IVF ICSI in January 2014 which resulted in our little boy born in October 2014. We started trying again when he's was 9 months hoping that nature would be on our side this time but after 3 months we decided to speak to the FC again to see if it was even worth bothering to try naturally. It wasn't and so we are to start IVF again very soon.

Looking for others going through the same thing if possible to be my buddy's Smile

All good signs Gilbert!

We think we will put two in this time (if we have two) so yes I'm very interested to know how your scan goes! I'm sure twins aren't double the work... Smile doubly amazing though!

Smileybobs29 · 07/12/2016 22:02

Hi ladies hope everyone is well. Gilbert have you had scan yet? X

GilbertBlythe4JM · 08/12/2016 05:32

It's next Wednesday. I'm becom My more convinced it's twins as my morning sickness/all day nausea started so early and is absolutely dreadful. I had to get a cab home from work yesterday and the deputy head had to drive my car home!

GilbertBlythe4JM · 12/12/2016 14:43

Yep....it's TWINS!!!! Ahahahaha (a laugh mixed of joy and pure terror....)

Roxy1234 · 12/12/2016 17:19

Wow! Congratulations! And congratulations again! SmileSmile

Smileybobs29 · 12/12/2016 17:27

Omg i'm so unbelievably happy for you!!! Worth all the pain you've been through!! X

Smileybobs29 · 12/12/2016 17:29

How come you had early scan Gilbert? X

GilbertBlythe4JM · 12/12/2016 18:04

I had a bleed on Friday so they brought it forward two days. I'm having another one next week then being released into the wilds of normal maternity care (except I guess I'm high risk so it will be different from dd pregnancy). Thanks everyone. If I felt less vile I know I'd be much more excited!! Xx

Smileybobs29 · 12/12/2016 18:09

Oh that must have been a horrid weekend, waiting for today then! Some people just bleed I guess perfectly normal in some cases! So thrilled for you!
They said my period would return 4-6 weeks after d and c and we're currently on week 5 again another bloody waiting game!! And knowing my luck it won't come for weeks and weeks!! X

Verkey81a · 14/12/2016 13:22

Wow - I have just rejoined on here as we're about to start our new cycle of IVF for a sibling for our boy and found this thread which is exactly what I was looking for, read the first and the last page as there are so many messages on here already and I'm already in tears (good tears)! Congratulations Gilbert on the twins :) I'm going to try to have a bit of a read back and catch up, but hoping I can stick around for some support and advice :)

GilbertBlythe4JM · 14/12/2016 13:32

Welcome Verkey! I'll have lots of time to respond as I am completely bedbound with horrific nausea Smile
Are you having a fresh cycle? How old is your LO?

Verkey81a · 14/12/2016 13:44

Oh no, I had mild nausea through my pregnancy before (not until after 13 weeks when I came off all drugs though!), I can't imagine how bad you must be feeling. It's probably the double dose of hormones your body is getting!

Yes we'll be having a fresh cycle, we had none to freeze last time so we have to start again. Our son is just over a year old and an absolute little charmer, I know that we are very lucky to even have him. But we've just about managed to scrape the money together for one cycle so its a now or never situation for a sibling :( It is majorly emotional, I thought I'd never feel as nervous as I did the first time round, but the emotions of really wanting another child are really very close to as raw as before. Then you add the guilt of feeling a bit greedy, its a brand new roller coaster! Is this the same for everyone else?

I've tried to read back a bit, but how far along are you now Gilbert? thanks for replying :)

HollyHx · 15/12/2016 20:20

TWINS!!!!!

OMG

GilbertBlythe4JM · 16/12/2016 18:54

Is it making you rethink your plans, Holly?!
So far, it's awful! I've been signed off til January 12. I'm on drugs which have stopped me throwing up the oestrogen tablets but don't stop the retching/nausea. I don't want to sound at all ungrateful but it's pretty tough thus far....

HollyHx · 16/12/2016 21:17

Oh poor you it's horrible. It's not ungrateful at all, you can still feel grateful and lucky but hate the sickness. It's gets you down because it's so constant. I didn't even have it that bad but it was bad enough.

How many weeks now? Hoping there is end in sight for you... does eating help or does it come back up? Just do what you can to survive.

We're waiting to hear on pgs results. 2 didn't survive the biopsy so we're waiting on the final four. Probably early Jan.
I'm a little bit scared of twins but three fails makes me think two is the best option for us.
Hope you get well looked after this Christmas xx

GilbertBlythe4JM · 22/12/2016 17:56

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and lots of ivf babydust for 2017. Please keep us all updated as next rounds begin in the new year. Hopefully the twins will be the start of a slew of pregnancies. Hey, if it can happen for me aged forty on round six...!
I've been diagnosed with Hyperemesis (due to the twins, presumably), and have been in bed for nearly three weeks now. Thank goodness for Kate Middleton having it twice and making it a well known condition, otherwise I would have just thought I was being a total wimp. Lots of time to research cars, carseats, double buggies....
Had another scan on Monday and they are both doing well. Xx

Smileybobs29 · 23/12/2016 22:09

Glad all is well Gilbert! Sorry your feeling pretty rubbish but it shall be worth it!!
I finally started my AF on Monday 6 weeks after d and c so suppose at least all is getting back to normal, and 1 period down 2 to go! I'm on count down now for my fet I just want to start it now it's been a very long and difficult 4 months! Keep thinking how id only have 4 months left to go and cant believe how fast it's Gone just hope it continues and next time it will stick i'm going to ring clinic in the new year.
Have a great Christmas everyone here's to a better 2017 for us all! X

HollyHx · 04/01/2017 19:18

Happy New Year!

How are you feeling now Gilbert? How many weeks are you? Have you had to go to hospital or are you able to stay hydrated at home? I hope things are still progressing and that the sickness abates a little for you. When id your due date by the way?

Good news about the period Smiley, finally eh? Any news on timescales from the clinic?

We’ve heard back on the final four. Two are abnormal, one is normal and one is mosaic - which I think means they’re not sure! So we can only have one put back in anyway. They won’t put a normal embryo back in with a mosaic one. We have to decide what to do with the mosaic one but I don’t think we will ever have it transferred. I start my medicated FET on the next cycle which is mid Jan so not long. It feels good to be moving but there is a lot of pressure on that final embryo. I am wondering now if the three failed FET were all abnormal. 1 normal out of 6 isn’t great odds and maybe our DD was the only other normal one of the batch.

Hope everyone else is doing well and feeling positive for the New Year.

Smileybobs29 · 13/01/2017 23:15

Hi holly, that's good your starting this month! I've never heard of a mosaic before, but hopefully you won't need it anyway, this normal one will do the trick keep
Positive! This will be our year! I've got to go in next week sign forms and have bloods done but all set to start medicated fet next month, it can't come quick enough i'm literally counting down and only 2 in the freezer a 4ab and a 5bb so hoping they'll thaw and one will be my lucky miracle!
How are you doing Gilbert?
Happy new year to everyone sorry i'm a little late been keeping busy with work to keep me going, waiting for this second period due Monday if it decides to show on time and my cycles are back to normal after d and c xx

HollyHx · 16/01/2017 20:31

Fingers crossed this is our lucky month/year!
Hope that your period arrived today do you can get going-I hate waiting!!!

We've started and I have one injection to go (of 7) in for a scan next week then all being well transfer would be a week after, probably on or around our DDs 2nd birthday! Hoping it's still a lucky time for us.

I'm feeling fine so far, finding short protocol easier than long and work is busy which is a good distraction. Good to have something to keep positive in January too.

Hope all is well with everyone - how are you feeling Gilbert?

Smileybobs29 · 16/01/2017 20:47

Oh wow that seems fast, how long is a short protocol for fet? I had a short protocol for my last fresh but not sure if it will be same this time they haven't told me! Just told me to ring on first day of my period, but i'm in Thursday for bloods so I'll hopefully find out more then. No period today but I feel bit crampy and broke out in spots so I should think it's coming x

GilbertBlythe4JM · 25/01/2017 10:18

Update: twins came back low risk for everything so we're letting people know. I'm still in bed (heading into week eight now!) with no let up. I'm on four different anti nausea meds plus the usual vitamins etc. Surely someone else in this group is up to something? I need to hear about egg collections and transfers! Xx

Smileybobs29 · 25/01/2017 16:41

Good news Gilbert! How far are you now? Sorry to hear the sickness hasn't wore off did you get it last time? Nothing to report, i'm just waiting on my next period to arrive and then it's all systems go! I have 2 Frosties left and trying to decide whether to have 1 or 2 put back x

GilbertBlythe4JM · 25/01/2017 16:52

Choose wisely smiley!!!!

SunshineSH · 26/01/2017 16:16

Hi Everyone! Firstly GOOD LUCK to all those going through it all again... I have so much love and respect for you all! I've got a little boy through IVF (11lbs 3oz ICSI!!!!! CSec eventually!!!, he's now 19m), 2 Frosties, hoping to go again in June/July. I did a huge detox before Ed was born, eat clean and green, no alcohol, lots of water, no caffeine, no low fat rubbish, acupuncture and reflexology - just went for it... and was super lucky with Ed first time... I'm just gearing myself up to do the same again - have you guys, will you guys prep this time round, did you last time round? I need to drop my baby weight anyway - ivf caused me to put on so much weight and then the baby weight. Just feel I want to be in tip top shape... x x x x
