Hi,

Just trying to find someone who is at the same stage as myself. We have been ttc for almost 3 years now and after a lot of tests and back and forth, haven't found anything wrong, but for one reason or another we're still as childless as when we first started. And now we're finally at the stage of IVF.

Never thought we'd get here and now I'm actually getting a bit scared. I've got another 5 days of the pill. So injections will start on the 11th. So want this to go right. However not a big fan of needles, so about them too.

Anyone else who is going trough the same stage?

Just really hope 2016 is finally our year!

Hi everyone,

I've done 5 days of injections now & feeling a pro. My partner has done quite a few so renaming him to dart thrower. Altho had to count to 3, 4 times in a row before could stab myself tonight. I do find it less painful than waxing my own legs, hah!

It feels like a waiting game now as have my first scan next weds morning.

I may need to take some injections on a night out, eek. Anyone had to do that yet?

Hope you are all well

youdo top tip if you have to inject when out and about: take your meds out in a hard sunglasses case, means you can take the used syringe home for safe disposal in your bag without stabbing yourself!

Scan tomorrow, hoping those follies have kept on going in the right direction. Desperately hoping my shitty lining is looking less shitty, and hoping we'll add in Progynova to give it a boost, as will be utterly devastated if I don't make it to transfer again, urgh. Consultant measured blood flow and it was terrific - so it's just that I don't produce enough oestrogen on my own. Really really hoping the oestrogen tablets will do the trick.  Thinking thick!!!

Hi tinkabell the injections are scary to start with, but fine really

So we had The Call, 7/8 have fertilised Grin The last one did too, but with 2 sperm. They'll call us tomorrow to say if transfer will be Sunday or Tuesday

Good luck to those with scan today, and grump for EC

Wow keepitgoing that is amazing news.fingers crossed for you.it seems so far away for me to get to that stage.so got a call a min ago and my meds will be delivered next sat.

Nice work, keep's eggs! Though how can two sperm fertilise an egg?? Mind boggles.

EC went fine, also got 8 and all seem OK. Now chilling at home. Poor DH had a bit of stage fright (was being v nice and supportive but must confess was thinking FFS, the ONE thing you have to do!) but managed ok in the end- his morph had gone down to 1% normal forms though so definitely ICSI for us.

Good luck everyone else for stims and scans. Thanks

Well done grump Grin at mrgrump, I wouldn't have been very sympathetic... Hoping the icsi does its thing

I assume it's if the egg doesn't put the shutters down quick enough, two can get in. Anyway, means it has too many chromosomes

tinka it goes quickly once you've got going

Amazing news keep and grump! 8 is the lucky number :)

My DH did have stage fright last time and he was absolutely devastated (he wasn't well either). As he said 'I've been in training for this my whole fucking life!' I was obviously crushed but what can you do? We had to freeze all anyway due to my lining so wouldn't have had a transfer in any case, but meant we had to freeze eggs rather than embryos. Needless to say we now have several hundred million of his finest swimmers in the freezer as an insurance policy for this cycle

Rest up ladies and hope your embryos are chilling out in the love lab! X

Amazons news keep & grump, well don growing all them folliesSmile fingers crossed I'll be as fortunate as you guys for my first scan on Monday.

How did your scan go banana? All good news I hope!

Welcome tink, trust me, the injections isn't that bad...and I should know, was freaking out for weeks just because of the needles. It does help having DP doing them for me, although chose doing the, myself yesterday as he had a few too many during his birthday drinks.

Youdo, I'm just one day behind you, I would agree with banana there, bring a sunglasses case to keep the needle safe.

So I've started on cetrotide today, so now I'm having fun with 2 needles a day!

Have an amazing weekend all, and good luck with all the follies, scans, embryos and needles

misspz good luck with the Cetrotide! It itches like a bastard for me for about 5 mins, but then it goes away. Excited for your first scan on Monday - sure there will be some lovely juicy follies!

welcome tink

Update from from my scan - EC is all confirmed for Monday, I trigger tomorrow.

Cannot believe that with my barely detectable AMH I have 15 follicles!

14 good ones (most @ 18mm, a few @ 16mm, and one big fella @ 20mm), plus one 12mm tiddler.

Consultant is reasonably confident that with 14 decent follies - plus the 6 frozen eggs from last time - that we will have enough embryos to get something to blast.

Lining is looking less spectacular - triple line, but only 7.2mm, so am to start the Progynova tomorrow. He will obv measure the lining on Monday, and then wants to scan me again towards the end of the week. If he’s not happy with it, we’ll have to freeze-all and try to build up the lining in a medicated FET.

Absolutely thrilled with the eggs, though will be gutted if we don’t make it to transfer again - desperately hoping the Progynova works its magic

Thinking thickening thoughts!!!

Thanks everyone for your welcome its nice to be able to talk about this with people who understand.
Misspz i would get dh to do mine but he will not always be here to do them.Im on a high dose due to low amh so ill be injecting like three times a day for like 7 days im starting off on the pill which im on now.then on feb 18th i have my baseline scan to check everything is ok and lineing i think?.Then if all ok i start that evening on pergoveris x2 150iu.Then on day 4 i also start cetrotide 250 mcg.so im on stimms for 12 days and scans and bloods every other day.If all goes to plan i will be having ec on 2nd march they are hopeing to go to day 5.after et im on crinone 8% gel x 2 and progynova 2mg.

Hello ladies, as you're all ahead of me can you please tell me - when sniffing...could you taste it at the back of your throat?

Report
Grumpelstiltskin · 16/01/2016 10:26

So I've had The Call too and we have five little embryos percolating nicely. It's SO SURREAL to think they're just there in the lab, being actual embryos! Suddenly all seems like real tangible baby-making science rather than just randomly injecting yourself and having dildocam dates.

Will hear tomorrow how they're doing and whether I'll have a day 3 or 5 transfer.

Good luck with your trigger today, banana and I hope you get lots of healthy eggs on Monday all ready to go. Thinking thickening thoughts here too for you!

Meh Sorry I never did the sniffing so am spectacularly unhelpful there for you, but hopefully someone will be along soon with some experience in it!

Happy weekend to all.

Good luck for trigger banana, your lining sounds OK to me

We still have all 7 going strong, grade 1, 4 cells :)

Amazing news grump - your eggs and his sperm had a busy night getting jiggy in the love lab! With 5 you should have a great chance of getting at least one good blast for a day 5 transfer

All sounds fantastic keep, sounds like you've got some really great goers there :)

meh afraid I only did buserelin injections, no experience of the nasal spray. Friends said one very big sniff was the best way, I seem to remember

Have started on the HRT, hoping it gets to work. If it stayed at 7.2mm keep it would be just over the minimum (although Dr has had pregnancies under 7mm, ideally wants it closer to 8mm), but last time it regressed so significantly between trigger and EC that if it does the same this time, we def won't be able to transfer, so we need a bit of a buffer!

Hope you're all having lovely weekends ladies xxx

Keepitgoing and grump that's great! Exciting to hear about everyone's updates :)
Day 5 of stimming for me today and the scan this morning showed lots of follicles which I'm really pleased with. I've been trying to eat as much protein as possible and drink loads of milk and even though it's probably my reaction to the menopur rather than anything else, I feel like it's all helping. My tummy is huge at the minute and already starting to feel uncomfortable. Starting the cetrotide tonight and egg collection will potentially be next Thursday but I'll know for sure on Monday. Any ideas on what excuses I can use with work? My line manager knows but I've sworn her to silence and not sure what to tell my colleagues, who are well meaning but always ask loads of questions....

pink Woohoo now you're cooking with gas!

I just told work I was having some medical treatment and would be off for a few days for a procedure. Left it at that.

I know other women have got a Drs note to sign them off sick for 'a gynaecological procedure'

Hi ladies, sorry for the radio silence this week, I have been frantically trying to get enough work done to be able to relax and take two days off for EC rather than stressing out.
Had three scans this week and follicles and lining are good to go, I have just triggered and heading in for EC on Monday morning! Have had quite bad abdominal pain this morning which felt a little bit like period pains-did anyone else have this towards the end of their Stims? I'm so paranoid about OHS S!
Meh I have been doing the nasal spray and yes I can always taste in the back of my throat so I usually try and eat something a little bit before and just after I've taken it to try and combat the yucky taste!
So wonderful to hear about you girls embryos heading in the right direction in the lab-it's really hit home this evening just what we will all be going through in the next few weeks so it's great to know you're all on here no matter what the outcome.
Big hugs to you all. Xxx

Great news dessy how many follies do you seem to have? I had lots of funny feelings, mostly what felt like a stitch

Ooh, 2 ECs on Monday, yay!

Only 1 of a decent size on my left but she said my right ovary was star spangled! A few over 20 a few at 18 and then a few at 14 I think. My lining was about 12 on Wed but I forgot to ask yesterday!
Feeling nervous about sedation as only had general anasthetics before!! Xx

Report
Grumpelstiltskin · 16/01/2016 22:12

Dessy, so glad to hear you have some excellent follies cooking! They all sound brilliant sizes.
I had sedation for my hysteroscopy and EC- it's like GA light, really. I've had both (though GA was for wisdom teeth years ago) and sedation is much more straightforward to do and monitor according to anaesthetist. No intubation, just a quick injection and a bit of oxygen, then awake again in about 30mins with much less grogginess. Was sitting up eating biscuits within five mins both times. Grin

Good luck to you and banana for Monday- it's all happening now!

Pink also great to hear your progress though sorry to hear you're bloating up. Not the nicest bit, the last few days of stims. Def felt more uncomfortable the last few days before EC than after EC itself.

Treated myself to a cheeky glass of wine tonight out at dinner- thought why the hell not as the embies are being babysat at the lab and fx this'll be the last opportunity to have a drink for a good while! Still too guilt-ridden to have more than one though!

I completed my first round of IVF in October and I'm now 18 weeks pregnant. I just wanted to say that it can happen first time, even though I was adamant it wouldn't for me! I found the process very straightforward and none of it was painful (a little tender after EC but the procedure was simple). We collected 8 eggs and six fertilised. We had two transferred but are having a single baby.

I also know someone else who recently completed IVF for whom it worked first time.

It is more common than people think - I work with 5 women and 3 of us have had IVF. It worked for 2 of us first try.

I also wanted to mention that I told my HR department about my treatment and they were incredibly supportive. They had to dodge a lot of questions from my concerned boss when I had hospital appointments! I took 3 days off for collection and transfer (you will need time off after collection due to anesthetic). My HR department aren't going to record any of the time off as sick, so they basically gave me free (and paid!) days off as and when I needed them, and I was told I could take extra time off after appointments if I was feeling too emotional. They made what could have been a difficult time so much easier. Sometimes it does pay to let your employer know.

Best of luck, and I hope your treatment works for you all.

Thanks dessy, can I ask- did you get a withdrawal bleed at all whilst sniffing?

Congratulations Osirus! My workplace (mostly my boss) has been brilliant about it all too.

Congrats osiris - hope your pregnancy is going well. I remember you from the other IVF thread, your story gives me such hope!

dessy woohoo congrats! Will be thinking of you. I've had sedation loads of times for a variety of procedures, most recently for egg collection - it's brilliant. All the benefits of a general (you're out for the count as far as you're concerned - last thing I remember is the anaesthetist telling me he's about to give me the wooze juice, and then I woke up in recovery) without the horrible aftermath of a general - I was up and about in no time, just like grump describes

grump damn right you've earned that glass of wine!!

Hope everyone else is doing OK and having good weekends

I triggered last night, EC at 9am. Started the oestrogen tablets yesterday, please please please lining don't regress like last time.

I have chronic pain due to a spinal injury and take pretty hardcore pain meds - which obv I have to be off by transfer. It takes a while to come off everything slowly enough to avoid going into withdrawal, so I've been in a fuck of a lot of pain the last few weeks and I'm not even off everything yet. If I don't get a transfer AGAIN and I've been tapering off everything for nothing - which is a distinct possibility - I will hit the fucking roof.

Scuse potty mouth but BLOODY BODY!!!

Hi ladies,

Wow so two ECs tomorrow, hope everything goes well for you both banana & dessy!
Fingers crossed for you both!!

Sorry meh, not sniffing either, so won't be of much help there.

I'm with you pink, day 7 today, and I feel like a blow fish, completely ballooned up. But I guess (fingers and legs crossed and all) that we should get used to the thoughtSmile so you got a dildo cam date tomorrow as well? Fun start of the week isn't it?

Grump hope everything is cooking nicely for you! And yes of course you deserve that glass of wine! I'll just make do with some herbal tea for now....

I'm off for a date with dildo cam tomorrow morning, so first look at them follies to see if they're taking shape. So early night to try and get some rest.

Best of luck for tomorrow all, seems like it'll be busy day
